Hello, Shoreek.

I would like to become a guild Crew member. If you want to wait to see if I am worth it after I've been here a while, I do not mind. But I just want you to know of my interest in the position.

You will be informed when we decide whether to or not to accept you as a guild moderator.

Hiya!! This may sound kinda newbish an stuff, but i have heard all sorts of definitions for "Chatspeak" but i have no idea which one is true. Can someone help me out..? I first heard that term a couple of weeks ago, but I have never been quite sure what they mean..

____________________________________________________________________
Chatspeak

Chat speak/leet (most commonly 1337 but often also leetspeak, leetspeek, or l33t) from the phonetic form of the word "elite", is a cipher, or novel form of English spelling. It is characterized by the use of non-alphabetic characters to stand for letters bearing a superficial resemblance, and by a number of spelling changes such as the substitution of "z" for final "s" and "x" for "(c)ks". Leetspeak is traditionally used on the Internet and other online communities, such as bulletin board systems. Leetspeak is commonly used by hackers, crackers, script kiddies, and gamers.

To whom this may concern,

I know that I have only recently been added to this guild and none of you know my style of skill at role plays just yet. But, I find that the question I have needs to be asked. Can I become a moderator here in the guild?
I'll have to add that I am Canadian and thus may spell certain words differently. Further more, I am from Quebec, the more french oriented province. It is only a blessing that I have a keyboard that isn't french based. In any case, there may be a few... misunderstandings due to these.
Again, I ask that you consider placing me in the moderator position. I have some ideas that may be useful and the fact that I am online most of the time does mean I can check up on the guild more often then others.

____________________________________________________________________

Well, it may take a little bit of time before we can really put you in that position. I would prefer to see you actually roleplay and such before I put you in that position.

If I am ever deemed worthy enough, I would like to become a mod as well. I'm normally online for too long everyday, and I should be here often from now on. I understand that it will probably take time to make this decision, so I'm not going to get over-excited and ask every ten minutes. I did just join this guild after all.

Okay, I'm done rambling now.

Understood. Just for the record: We will have to wait and see how active you are in this guild. Moderators are picked on how well we think they will affect our guild.

It might be worthwhile to post who here is a moderator and who's being considered. That way, we can PM someone other than Black Bloody Roses, Coraine, or Shoryuken - the only people I'm sure of at the moment that are moderators.

And while we're taking applications, I wouldn't mind being considered for a moderator post myself.

All moderators can be found at the bottom of the first page. It's limited at the moment because we don't have many people and we aren't sure how much the members affect our guild. Shoryuken is on a trial period at the moment. Dragon Ladysupreme and Coraine are already established.

A few comments/suggestions/questions...

1. Invites and Banned List: I've noticed that you've been on one hell of an invitation spree lately. For those of us like myself who really don't know why we were invited or by whom (yeah, we can see the Mod's name in the invite, but that's not always the person who wanted the invite to happen, y'know?), it'd be nice if there was an actual list of who was invited by whom, and maybe even a short reason.

Personally, although I don't have the greatest of memories, I really don't recall a single person in this Guild. Heh.

2. "Cliches" as mentioned in the Rules: Eh, I think that rule is a load of bull. SOme of the best RPs I've been involved with have had characters with those cliches, and some of those characters were at the very heart of the RP. I, myself, have played an amnesiac once, and not only did I have a fun time doing it, so did all of the people I was RPing with as such. I don't think that such characters could be frowned upon.

3. "Godmoding" (or, as I've seen it called in many other parts of Gaia, "godmodding"): Just a question on this... It seems to be the universally accepted definition here on Gaia that Godmoding is controlling someone else's character in any way shape or form. When I first started RPing, Godmoding included a variety of things, like pulling some god-like power out of your a**, or suddenly being able to do something your character has never done before, or (on RPs that required character sheets) using an ability your character did not have. Anyone know when that changed?

4. Exceptions to Godmoding; "This rule sometimes does not apply to the people running the game, who may on occasion control one of the player's characters in order to bring them more in tune with what is going on in the game."

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? What the heck does that mean? If I join an RP, the storyline creator can do whatever they wish with my character without my consent if they feel my character is disruptive? If that's the case, no thanks and see ya. Heh heh.

5. "Keep it clean;" "The usual limit is a moderate amount of language, no sexual content or nudity, and unregulated violence.": Okay, I have to ask... What's the deal with this? Moderate amount of language I can understand; I don't like the "******** ******** s**t" blah blah blah, myself. Heh. "No sexual content of nudity" is a bit iffy to me... Nudity I can understand; that just leads to cyber, and telling someone "take it to PMs" would be considered encouragement of cyber. Sexual Content, though... How far does that go? Kissing someone? Slapping someone on the a**? Finally, the "unregulated violence" bit kind of disturbs me... What exactly do you mean by that?

Heh. Not trying to be an a** or anything, I just want to state my comments and get my questions answered.

1. There is only one reason as to why a person would be invited to this guild. Because he has been scouted out as a literate roleplayer. I do believe that was obvious. If your name is not in the Invites and Banned list then it is safe to say that you were found somewhere in Barton Town, by a guild moderator or another literate roleplayer by chance.

2. We prefer not to have cliches. It is frowned upon by most. Fact is if you do wish to have a character that unrealistic, even in a fantasy roleplay, then go ahead. But, it does have it's downfalls.
Say a character is the last of their kind. That makes it hard for another person who is confortable roleplaying that "race" of character. Also, say he has been training for revenge. He will not defeat every person that stands in his way making him seem pitiful. If he does, then he shall eventually be the only person left in that roleplay. That's no fun.

3. For as long as I know it, Power Play has always meant controlling another person's character in any shape, way or form. Whichever you prefer. As far as a character being able to do something it has never been specified to do before, many just consider that the player did not define their character very well in the character's profile.
It's not that the meaning changed, it is just that players have developed multiple definitions of the same word.

4. You should pay more attention and use your instincts. You would have to give permission to the player running the game to use your character as a NPC.
"Even insofar as making another person's character blink is considered a serious breach of this rule. It is only allowed when a player allows someone else to use their character as a non playing/playable character (NPC)."
Many of the roleplays in this guild, if you haven't noticed, do not have a main character. This rule applys to roleplays in which the creator is the main character and leaving one character behind would cause problems along the storyline.

5. Slapping someone on the a** goes a bit of a way. As long as a person does not do it consistently, there is not a problem. Kisses, hugs, those are just fine. Sexual content goes to the point where clothes are falling and the main body parts, breasts, a p***s..or a few, vaginas..or a few and the a**, come into skin to skin contact with each other and with hands as well.

Unregulated violence is violence without regulation or discipline. Attacking a player's character constantly to the point that it becomes annoying is an example. Also, when one player targets another player for personal reasons and refuses to leave that player alone, it is unregulated.

Ya I have a question. I was wondering if anyone was thinking about starting a Shaman King rpg, or some kinda Mech rpg ^.^ I know thats kinda out there, seeing as all the threads we have right now are centuries apart. But I was just gonna throw the idea out there that if anyone wants to make one of those I'd join ^.^

It's not that I'm too lazy to make my own, don't get me wrong. It's just that after all the rpg's I've been in, I'd really rather not have to move the plot myself. But then again I'm the Charismatic kinda guy that the whole plot relies on to keep moving >.<. So I dunno. Just thought I would throw those two idea's out there.

No, we hadn't thought a thing of it. I don't really think of making those. But maybe someone else shall.

Just a simple suggestion.

It has come to my attention that there seem to be a rather large amount of profile pages. I understand that there are many RPs currently active in this guild and multiple profiles/different characters are needed. But it seems rather tedious to have multiple profile threads. So, instead, why not just make one profile page and state at the top of your character sheet what RP it's for. It'd just save room, time and maybe make things easier.

Also, a question for Coraine. For the roleplaying rules, you didn't happen to get them from this Site, did ya'?

I have asked our captain about that...repeatedly. But she is one to do things the hard way. I shall ask her, one more time, then you do it.

And surprisingly, no.

Just a suggestion, but shouldn't there be an absent sticky of some sort where members can post if they are going to be away for a certain amount of time? It'd be easier to keep track of if members could just post the going away date and coming back date in a sticky because it'll always be there unlike a PM which might accidentally get deleted.

In addition, my house is getting renovated this week and next week so it's a little hard to find time at the computer. I wasn't sure where to post this so that's why I made the suggestion.

Umm... I have a question about the forum... Why is there a page for a two and a three if nothing is in there?

Ignore them. I don't believe we can put stuff in them right now. Maybe when the pages fill up. I'll ask Captain Brat.

I would like to request to be a guild moderator of this guild. I know that this question is rather abrupt, yet I ask you to please consider it.

I am very dedicated to this guild. I even have a rather successful roleplay happening. It's Etsuko: Land of the Phoenix. Not only am I very dedicated, but I try to keep my roleplays alive as long as possible.

I have been here quite a while and I have posted over one hundred times in this guild. Not only that, but I have also donated one hundred gold to this guild.

Literate roleplays are the only kind I ever join and I'm sort of a grammar freak. That is the reason I joined this guild. I was getting annoyed because I couldn't find any literate roleplays in Barton Town.

Please consider making me a guild moderator of this guild; I will work hard to fulfill that duty.

Huh. My first day here, and already I'm not pleased. O_o;
Regardless, don't blow this off as another "Oh, I want to be a crewmember!"
You have enough of those, I'm sure.
No, I actually want to suggest that you wipe away the roleplays that have been dead for, oh, more than a month. No activity, no interest in activity, quit members, inactive members... It doesn't really matter the reason. It's mucking up the guild. For the amoun ot roleplayers in the guild, there should not be more than one page of roleplays. Considering you have that, and a dozen stickies, I would say this is too much.
Antagonistic, sure. But I really don't like guilds too much anymore. Nonetheless, I'm going to look around, see if there's anything that will hold my attention for more than a week, and if I find it, I'll join. If not, I'll forever be washed away into the pit of inactive and you'll be free to ban me.
A guild is nothing without coordinated structure.

Currently, we are doing just that. The problem is that time is messing with our hands. we thought first of starting all over but we thought otherwise. It has already been stated that we are doing our best to make the guild suitable once more. Patience is all we desire. I must say that it may seem that we are moving slowly but if you saw the guild this morning, you would have been disgusted. Real life events have gotten in our way.
Besides that, we do need more responsible crew members. The job is being done by two and myself at the moment. Again, I ask only for a little patience.

Well, that depends on whether or not someone makes one. You can if you'd like to. Sorry I can't help anymore than that.

Do you think it's possible that there could be a roleplay for my Fallen Angel character? I mean she doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

Well yes, you are right. I myself hasn't been around due to frequent trips to the hospital and even more frequent long stays. I left a friend incharge of my avatar but she has been of little to no help.

Here, everyone tells what is on their mind so dun worry.

I am new but I saw something that interested me...or maybe I need new glasses.

But wouldnt it be more efficient for the guild to have an OOC sub-forum? Like I said, I am new but didnt notice it...

Thank you,
