Krys had been working for days on end. Julie wasn't pleased with it, for that meant she wasn't spending as much time with him. He wasn't too mean about it, instead he worked on how this might help him in the future.

Today, Krys was directing the volunteers. There were tables that needed to be set, and the catering had yet to arrive. The woman allowed Julie to tag along, so long as he hid whenever outsiders came in -which was not often.

By the time the tables were set, the catering came. Krys watched that too, making sure none of the outsiders went too far away. They brought in some cold-cut mini-subs, and plates of vegetables. There were already coolers of ice and drinks of all kinds, and a grill in case it was to be used. Plates, utensils, and cups were on one end of one of the long tables for food. The other tables waited, with benches and chairs awaiting those that would occupy them.

Krys's own contribution were miniature desert-pizzas that were home-made. She had also made sure there was a heat lamp, keep them warmed. Many flavors were there, including apple, cherry, blueberry, and a plain cinnamon and sugar.

Finally, it was all done. Krys was ready for the guests to arrive.

Taneko had made her way to the designated place with Ari on her shoulder, and a blastic bag in her hand. Looking around, she saw that tables had been set up. Furthermore, there was already some food, and drink too. She saw, however, no people.

Walking over to one of the empty tables, she took out the content of the plastic bag, and placed in on the table. At first, she had decided to make a cake. A cinammon cake to be more precise. But it turned out that Taneko wasn't much of a baker, and the so called cinammon cake had ended up in the trash. Instead, she had decided to bring the ingredients to make burgers. She had guessed that there would be a grill, and had brought the raw meat, ready-made to fit the burger buns, and several different things to put in the burger, if one should desire it. She had also brought some more vegetarian burger-beefs, containing more vegetables rather than meat. She would be opting for those herself.

With the things on the table she looked around and spotted another person. She couldn't believe that she hadn't noticed her before.

"Oi. Ari. Look over there... theres another person." she was just about to walk over there, when she realized something. Once again adressing the pink sprite, she continued talking instead of walking "I'm not sure if she is an insider or not, so you might want to hide" Ari nodded and let Taneko hide her in a pocket.

Finally walking over to the other person, Taneko coughed slightly, as to make the woman aware of her presence. "Uhm. Hi... I'm Taneko... Uhm... are you from... Here?" She let the odd question hang, waiting for other's reply. She might as well be a catering person, or one of the many random people that took walks in the park.

Saniiro hoped he didn't arrive late, as he had made a slight miscalculation as to the amount of time he needed to reach the Arboretum. Thus, when he finally reach the place, the male was rather relieved at the number of people there. He recognised some faces, but it had been too long, so he can't really recall.

Fiery looked out from Saniiro's shirt pocket, "Why did you choose to make bread? Only girls make bread!"

"Pastries, Fiery, pastries. Not bread," Saniiro replied calmly as he set down a basket on a empty table. "There are slight differences. On another note, not only females bake. Please do not make comments without thinking it out thoroughly first."

Opening the basket, he took out six plates and laid them on the table in a circular arrangement. Then, he took out some pastries and placed them onto the plates. There were six different types of pastries, five of each type. Each type was placed together on the same plate, and the flavours were chocolate, strawberry, raisin, blueberry, butter, and cheese.

"Yeah, yeah... Whatever." Fiery rolled his eyes, looking at his father with a bored expression.

[ OOC Note: This takes place AFTER Ian has MET Canniver, just so there are no misunderstandings ^^; I couldn't STAND not to be involved! ]

Ian had just received the invitation a few days ago, but he had been getting set up to live pretty much IN the greenhouse. (Ok, not IN, but close). He and the plant which he had dubbed 'Canniver' had been getting along quite nicely. The small sprite very much liked to curl up in one of the inside pockets of Ian's shirt. It appeared that he liked the warmth there.
When he had been invited to the cookout, his first thought had been one of almost complete surprise. He was not used to being invited to things, and - although parties had been a part of his growing-up - had never really been involved in the ones he was forced to go to. But this time, he was more than willing to attend, and fully planned out the type of dress both he and the sprite would wear. He even went so far as to make the outfits himself, and bake the goods which he was going to offer as his share of the cookout.
Those goods happened to be three large planters, filled with ice-cream, cookie crumbs of all sorts, chocolate-chip cookie dough, and caramel, all mixed together. One planter had gummi worms as well, one was plain, and the last one had sugar-cookies in the shape of - what else - Cannabis leaves. Those were frosted green. Each planter had a detailed plant made entirely of hardened sugar. Some of the leaves had gummi-frogs nestled inside, others had green gumdrops. He had done a good job of disguising the desserts, as he had ladled oreo-crumbs into the top to make it LOOK like dirt. The sugar-plants were bought, but Ian handled the rest of the details. He had a SUPREME sweet-tooth, and the knowledge of a good many recipes that satisfied that sweet tooth. Also, he had the money to make it look good.
He set the "plants" on the table, and meandered over to where the others were enjoying the company of one another. He said nothing, preferring to study the people as closely as if they were specimens, before he made any decisions regarding friends or foes. For right now, he stuck to mingling, and watching.

Song showed up lugging a big bowl of goopy white stuff, taking care not to let any of it splurge too close to the edge. She set it down on the table with the other stuff, wiped her palms on her ever-present labcoat, and grabbed a broccoli floret from the vegetable tray. A little green-haired face popped out of Song's coat pocket as she dunked the broccoli into the white goo, brought it to her mouth, and ate it with relish.

Song grinned at the other parents who had gotten there ahead of her. "Mmm," she murmured, "Savory toasted cheese. My favorite."

Glancing at the faces, Song quickly spotted Ian. He was the one face that was unfamiliar; Krys had interviewed him, so she hadn't gotten to meet him yet. She moseyed her way toward the parents, moving in his general direction.

"Hey everybody! I'm glad you made it. Krys has been working really hard on putting this together."

Song beckoned to the little sprite who had climbed out of her pocket and now sat tidily on the shoulder of her lab coat.

"This is Philli...her plant is a Philodendron. She's the one who started all of this...well, in a way, anyhow." Song pointed at each of the parents in turn. "Philli, these are some of the other parents: there's Krys, my newest staff member, who takes care of our Black Walnut. And that girl there is Taneko; she took over Pale Grasspink from Kat. This is Saniiro; he takes care of Fire Cherry, which is probably good because he;s got the most patience out of everyone I've placed so far, and Fire Cherry is a spiteful little sprite. And I can only assume..."

Here she paused, nodding to Ian

"...that this is Ian, our newest parent. Am I right?"

"Spiteful! Who're you calling spiteful?" Fiery yelled his protest from the pocket of Saniiro's shirt. He shook a fist in Song's direction, his features suggesting mixed feelings of irritation and amusement, "I'm just not as typical as the others. Got that?"

Saniiro gave Fiery a gentle poke on the head, "Please do not be rude... Remember your manners."

"What do you mean? I'm not rude!" Fiery huffed, climbing out of the pocket and onto his shoulder. Sitting down, he crossed his arms, "Like I said, I'm just not the typical type! Definitely not spiteful nor rude."

Taneko turned her attention to Song when she spoke. She had, however, failed to notice the other parents arrive, as she was trying to decifer the status of the person she had first seen.

She nodded as Song talked about Philli. They had met before. It was, however, nice to know that everybody else present were parents, and who they were parents off. She learned that the person she had previously questioned was actually working in the park. Her name was Krys. She nodded slightly at Saniiro, they had also met before.

Ian, however, was a complete stranger to her. She had a hard time getting a good impression of him. Character judgement had never been her strength.

She giggled slightly at Fiery's outbursts against Song's claims. She remember the little sprite's ferocity quite well.

Glancing around, she didn't see Lily yet, which was quite a pity. She had been looking forward to meeting the girl again, and she knew that Ari had been looking forward to seeing Toxic too. She decided that she would stay where she was, and wait for people to approach her, for once. It would be a lie to say that she did well with many people at once.

Krys turned to Song and hopped over to try the veggie dip. She took a carrot and came out with a glob on it. After trying it, the woman made a face..... but she forced out a smile, "This is..." she cleared her face and turned to her employer with what looked like a genuine face, "... tasty!"

Julie crawled down her arm and took a bite. Unlike Krys, he didn't hide his disdain, "What is-?"

Then, Fiery had his outburst. The black walnut sprite looked at him, the look still on his face. "Here, try THIS!" Her stole the globbed carrot from Krys and threw it at the colorful cherry sprite.

In fact, he just wanted to get the carrot as far away as possible...

Relieved to have the offending vegetable gone, Krys gave Song a regretful glance for the lost carrot, and then tirned to Taneko. She smiled in welcome, "Well, hello!" She looked at Ari, but for some reason she couldn't quite place.... her memory failing, Krys made sure not to let the dismay show, the face was familiar but she couldn't place it or the names.

Ian nodded, and made a courtly bow to those assembled. He rose, smiled, and spoke. Something about his voice gave one the idea of nobility. Graceful, but also dangerous - as if he could have your head chopped off at the slightest offense. But, for one not reading that deep, he seemed only to be a genial, clever young man.

"You have indeed pegged me correctly, Madame."

He took her hand, and kissed the back of it, as would any good gentleman. Then, he turned to those assembled.

"I'm pleased to be a part of this illustrious community, and I hope to be able to meet each and every one of you in a less public setting."

He laughed quietly, and Cani echoed that, as he peered out of the top of Ian's pocket, and around at the other sprites.
"And this.." he motioned to his pocket. "..is Caniver. Say hello, boy."

Cani waved almost shyly. "'Ello..."

...I promise to depart, just promise one thing

Rather relieved to see that the first person she had met was in fact a parent, although she should have been able to come to that conclusion when Song had started talking, she smiled at the lady, and quickly supplied a name "Taneko, my name is Taneko" she held out a hand, and after a quick handshake, she pointed to Ari on her shoulder "and this is..."

"I can introduce myself, thank you very much! I'm Ari. I'm a Pale Grasspink... thats an orchid for the stupid ones"
Taneko made a face at the little sprite. It was becoming apparent that she liked to make scenes in front of other people.
She gave the other person a look that was more like a blend between amusement and an apology, before saying "You must be Krys, right? You've gotten this thing together quite nicely. Lily and I, oh, Lily is the caretaker of Poison Ivy, or Toxic, had talked about doing something like this not long ago. But I must say. We wouldn't have been able to shape things up this well" she smiled slightly.

Upon hearing a male voice directed at Song, she turned around to see the exchange. His character seemed to itch her. She didn't like the regal tone, nor the politeness that seemed so fake to her. She had already had enough of royalty and all their bossing around. She should know. She had been there herself. Being a grounded person, she decided that she would still wait with passing a judgement on him until she had actually talked to him. But she definately didn't like his attitude.

Turning back around, she grabbed a carrot stick, and started munching on it angrily. He sure brought back memories. Offering Ari one, who perhaps, not so politely, refused, she decided to catch up with the only really familiar face here. Saniiro.

Closing the distance between them by taking a few steps, she made her presence to them know with a small cough and a "Oi. Saniiro. How have you been? You too Fiery... Nothing too wild has happened, I hope?"

Ari just sat on her shoulder, for the first time really taking in the sight of the other sprite. She had met him before, that much was true, but she hadn't really gotten to know him...

Song just grinned at Fiery, amused to no end. The sprites all had their little quirks, but she considered them all part of her extended family. After all...hadn't she discovered them?

"Hey Song, wake up. That guy is kissing you."

Song shook off her momentary lapse and smiled graciously at Ian. "Well, I'm glad you feel that way," she told him. "I'm sure you and Caniver will get along splendidly."

Song turned her attention to the little silver-haired sprite. "You see, I told you we'd find you somebody nice."

"Just don't let him confuse you with all that flowery talk," Phili piped from Song's shoulder. "You keep him in his proper place!"

Song's cheek twitched. Phili knew Caniver was shy; Song had lamented her failure to find him a parent for so long in the greenhouse while she cared for Phili's plant. Apparently Phili was making the most of her new social avenue while she had the chance.

"Look munchkin, just don't embarass me too much," Song told her sprite. "I DO have to run things around here."

Krys smiled graciously at Taneko, "Thank you, I am glad things to have come together nicely."

She watched Ian, and couldn't help but arch a brow at him as he kissed Song's hand. He was polite, but she hadn't noticed that kind of action would come from him. Well, she should have noticed. Krys ended up her thoughts with a slight grunt, and then turned her attention to Julie.

"Ju-" she stopped. Where was he?

Julie had gotten bored with Krys's observations and thought he'd go make an observation of his own. He had dropped from her shoulder and landed on his feet, then made his way onto the table. Steering clear of the veggie-dip, he went straight for the deserts.... and boy were there deserts!!!!

He took a bite from them all, obsviously too small to eat a whole one. "Mrrmmmm!" the small sprite coo-ed, "Fisss ish gooth!"

...and then, she found him. Horrified, Krys ran over to the gluttonous black walnut sprite, "Julie! How could you!?"

By now, Julie was full. His meal was definately ruined. He was lounging on the cool side of the food heater, a hand draped over his bloated belly. Giving his guardian a wild grin, he told her the details, "Well, you see... First I ...."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 09, 2007 5:39 am

Ian smiled politely as he backed up slightly from Songjewel to give her room to move. One hand went up to his shoulder, for he sensed that Caniver was a tidbit scared of the situation, and wanted to comfort him. The sprite calmed almost immediately, and clung to Ian's fingers for a few moments before letting go, and slipping quietly back into his pocket.

"He's been tired lately." Ian said with a sigh, and a shake of his head. "I don't know why, but I've been working on finding out. It would really help if there were medical instruments small enough to use on these guys without hurting them. I may have to look into trying to make some."

"Wild? Never!" Fiery exclaimed before Saniiro could open his mouth, leaning forward in Taneko's direction so much that he almost dropped off Saniiro's shoulder. Closing his eyes, the sprite grinned and pointed to himself with a thumb, "I'm such a good, obedient boy! Isn't that right, father?"

"Maybe in your fantasy," Saniiro replied, raising an eye-brow before turning back to face Taneko. "All is fine thus far... Luckily, nothing that wild had happened... Perhaps it's due to the fact that we hadn't visited anyone lately, but Fiery seem to crave attention more now. How have you been, Miss Taneko?"

"Geez! That's cold!" Fiery made an upset face, pouting a little, "You've just hurt my little heart! You can be that polite to others, but not to your own son? That's mean, that's real mean!"

While saying all that, the sprite noticed Ari, and started to wave at her. He was glad to see another sprite... He remembered her name and face, but don't know her well. After all, they didn't have time to talk. The hurt look on his face disappeared instantly, and turned into a smiling tone, "Hello! It's been a long, long, long, long time!"
