The Geosn Temple City

The Geosn Temple- the heart and pride of the once-great island nation, built around the first source for magic they had- a natural spring of water mana. It, while it not monstrous and crowded as even a minor Lyran city, is gigantic and bustling by Geosn standards, and arguably a much better sight than any of the Lyran cities as well. Farms here are among the best and the most productive known, and many of them have sprouted along that river. One and two-story buildings with an architechture of a generally Asian feel- sliding doors, tatami, etc.- radiate from the temple, moving downstream.

By general good luck and a world-wide respect, not to mention the fact that it was wanted intact for those who possessed it, the entire area is nearly untouched from the wars- the only things destroyed were the men who went to fight for their nation. Villagers from the other islands come around regularly for trade, as either the destination, or as a halfway-point to the continent, making the city the trade center of the Geosns. Pilgramages of sorts are also made towards the temple, which sits magnificently at the source of the river with its back to the face of a cliff.

The building is situated in such a way that the river which is guards flows from the entrance, dividing the entrance in half. It remains true to its architechtural heritage. An intricate web of wooden, pristine bridges lit with magical lamps allows passage over the waters to other parts of the circular temple. The main temple sits front-and-center at the end of the courtyard of water and grass, itself suspended over the waters. To the right of the entrance lie the kitchens, storage, and other such utilities, and to the left lie the living quarters for the acolytes of the temple.

The acolytes themselves are picked and trained to be welcoming, or at least, not to have the kind of personality that makes people wish to leave. They are in charge of keeping the grounds clean, and also in keeping the peace- many of the acolytes are also among the most powerful of Mentalists, or have the potential to be. It is fairly simple to spot the acolytes in their large ceremonial green and blue robes.

Mana hangs within the temple. Almost any minor amount of force is possible by the acolytes when in the temple walls, making it ideal as a training ground. In fact, there are training grounds seperate, to both sides of the main temple.

As for government, there is not truly any to speak of- not since the wars. The closest to a government is the Temple, and that is only through respect and influence- they make no mandates, just suggestions which most go along with, when they make sense. There is gold as the main currency, but the value of the gold fluctuates from person to person, within reason.

The sun had begun its descent into the western horizon by the time Ryushi got out of his little talk and training with another of his elders. He wasn't looking very good coming out of it. Neither was the elder. He was much too, well, old for this. Ryushi had complained rather loudly throughout the entire affair, and both of them were glad to have been done with it. In the span of but a few hours, our friendly son-of-the-High-Priest had managed to shatter a mana holding bowl and to lightly char the sleeve of his teacher's robe.

Reflecting on this, Ryushi sighed once, and walked across the bridges. With a careless flick of his hand, he ignited one of the lanterns. Those things infuriated Ryushi- it took willpower to keep them lit for any extended period of time. He had wondered for a while why all the acolytes seemed so peaced out at night time. And in the past few days, he had found out why, or at least, had an idea of why. Their minds were too preoccupied with keeping the lamps lit for visiting guests. Far too preoccupied to be bothered with such trivial things like being capable of coherent speech and thought.

The lamps went out again as Ryushi passed. He sure as hell wasn't going to be keeping them lit for anyone who needed it, other than himself.

Eithne made her way near silently across the bridges which seemed to cross the river every few feet. There was a large amount of water in this land, and to be honest it didn't sit well with her. The journey across the sea to reach the small islands had practically been blocked from her memory, Runists were peoples of the sand and fire, not lush greens and water.

Catching sight of the lanterns ahead of her lighting and then flickering out one after the other as someone garbed in the robes of the temple Acolytes was walking, Eithne tilted her covered head to the side. The way whoever it was was striding didn't speak of the humble and almost meek nature of the Acolytes she'd met the day before while visiting the temple here in the Geosns' lands, and it intrigued her that he wasn't keeping the lights afire either as he passed them.

"In a hurry then?" She said simply as she ended up passing right by the acolyte. Seeing people armed such as she was in a larger city wouldn't have been odd; staff across her back and a wide desert sword sheathed at her hip, but she was traveling alone and far from home. That normally spoke of ruffians and theives; although those who traveled the deserts alone normally died soon after.

"A hurry to get somewhere I won't be getting in a long while," he said, with a scornful, almost almost growl-like quality to his voice. He gestured with his left hand, flicking it towards a lamp. The lamp responded by lighting itself, and rather brightly for a single lamp. He turned to look at Eithne's now-lit face, flicking his arm downwards, and letting the sleeve slide back down into place.

"What brings you here, then?" he asked, in the tone of a man who was reluctantly obeying a traditional greeting. He looked more closely, peering at Eithne's face. "You're a tribeswoman," he added gruffly, though he didn't truly mean anything by it. He probably could have made more sence of it

"Indeed," She replied, her face almost entirly covered save for her eyes which were a dark grey colour nearly indecernable(SP?) in the red light of the toarch. "And you're an acolyte from the temple. Tell me then, child, are visitors allowed within the Temple after dark?" Her didn't look like a child to her, and behind the viel of black which wound around her head and shoulders she was smiling almost teasingly, her eyes gaining a slight tinge of amusement. He certainly didn't act like an acolyte.

"I'm no child," he said in a low voice. Neither did he really wish to be an acolyte. But he did not mention this before quickly continuing in a somewhat more normal tone. "Of course they are, should they be fully respectful to the temple, and so long as they do not fall asleep in the wrong places," he said, as if reciting something with something bad-tasting in his mouth.

After a few more seconds of talking, he grew taxed by holding the one lamp brightly as well as one conversation, and he distributed his will onto several lamps. It probably would have been less effort to find some oil or something to burn, but that wasn't something encouraged in acolytes, (oil-less mana lamps build character and mentalist abilities) and he'd be damned if he had to go and find some for himself. It'd take more effort to just shorten the conversation and then let the lamps dim behind him again.

"Alright then, thank you." She replied, making as if to turn and begin walking, before pausing before doing much more than pivoting away,

"Oh, and if you're in a hurry to reach a place you won't reach for a long time, perhaps you should slow down and look around you as you journey. Even if by stopping and watching you don't feel like you'll be moving any farther, you'll reach your destination soon enough, unless of course, you prefer to keep your eyes on your destination and haven't a thought for yourself." That said, then she started to walk away.

Ryushi got a good look at her eyes, before she turned away. There wasn't much else of her face to see, after all. "Grey eyes," he murmured. Just like his. Geosns had several, and sometimes self-contradicting superstitions about people born with grey eyes. Most had to do with being the center of great events, and that stuff. Load of waffle, in Ryushi's eyes.

He shook his head. No matter. So long as she did nothing objectionable in or to the temple. On that note, he took his own way to the main shrine of the temple. He had to do some more quiet concentration for his training, and all that nonsense, the sort of stuff that makes him zone out in his mentalist training.

Navigating his way around the bridges, lighting the areas as he passed, he walked to the leftmost side of the entrance to the main shrine. He walked to the back corner, and sat there, closing his eyes.

Celestra was looking for a healer, her people were falling sick and dying. Their healers were no longer able to fight such new diseases. Being cut off from the world caused such a lack of knownledge on medicinal arts. As mayor and the only one capable of going outside the city's protection. She headed for the real would outside the mountains. The elders told her to visit the temples first for guidance. It's all they remember of the old world that they left. It had been 3? Or maybe 4 weeks by now. She didn't know.
She covered her body in the white leather cloak. She wasn't used to the sun's hot rays. Much less all this warmth and heat. It was starting to make her dizzy just being away from home.
So here she is, under a great tree, resting under it's shade till late afternoon and nights. She decided it was easier for her to travel in the late after noon and nights. And rest in during lighted hours till she can get used to the sun's rays. And the sudden increase in human population and abundant animals and of course an increase in monster activity.
"Thank god I'm no normal girl. I'd be monster feed by now. Now, according to this map, I should reach there in a day or so? I really need to invest in a riding animal. I really do."

Ryushi was in his quarters, staring at the tatami flooring from his futon with a surly expression. His head had begun to hurt from the exertion of trying to hold all the lamps lit for a few hours, and it was late. It had also just occured to him that he had lit the lanterns when he had been telling himself not to at first. Ryushi's scowl ddepened, before he rolled over, onto his side. In the same motion, he pulled his sheets over his body. He was asleep before his head hit the pillow.

He probably would be quite disgruntled in the morning, since it would only be a little while until dawn broke, and his head would be throbbing in a way not unlike a hangover.

Celestra continued her travels once the sun had settled lower.
Her eyes keener then the rest of the outer world from living in the cold darkness are more adept in the dark then in the light.
Everything was new to her.
The smell, the sight. Life was abundant and everwhere.
Thriving and living.
Houses with warm smoke rising from the chimmines and the homey scent.
Already she missed home. And the comofort of her people. She wasn't sued to being alone this long. There was always someone that would be by her side always.
It was a new, and frightening new expierenced. Even though she goes hunting alone, but never this long.
Her traveled continued.
Asking others nearby to make sure she was on the right track.
Staying in the taverns for awhile as she fed and restocked in supply.
Soon, she could see the tempels from the hill where she stand.
"There it is, the temple the elder ones spoke of."

(( >_> It's nearly morning, ish. Sorta. Or at least Ryushi's out until it's morning in the RP, since I already RPed him near morning. ))

Ryushi rolled around fitfully in his sleep, dreaming uneasily of lampshades and odd, fish-shaped acolyte uniforms. Moonlight poked through the window, illuminating his untidily-arranged blankets. He grumbled annoyedly, trying to swat away a drake in his dreams.

((XD Didn't knew anyone would be on today. XD))

Rubbing at her temples.
"Well the place seems closed. I might as well wait for the sun rise."
Sighing out deeply.
"Why must the sun be so bright in the outer world? I can bearly see. I'll be glad when things go dull grey or white."
Climbing to the safty of the high trees she waited for dawn.
Cursing as the day starts to lighten slowly bit by bit that would unfortunently mean greating the Sun God in his full blinding glory.
"Just like a men to flaunt everything."

(>.>;; And don't take that personal Mek Mek. It's not me saying it. <.<;; I think...)

(( Hahaha... if I flaunted everything, there would be much flaunted whever I went. xd

And remember, I'm always watching. MUwahahah! ninja blaugh ))

The other Acolytes had already been up and dressed, as were the priests, by the time they had gotten to Ryushi. He, being the son of the Head, slept seperately from the others. And, as he slept seperately, as well as held a very bad temper in the morning, he was woken last. The other acolytes meandered about, serenly going around, doing their business in the morning. Ryushi was to greet people, a job that he wanted to do. The other temple denizens weren't too keen on the idea, either. He looked at the woman, blinking.

"Another from the Runist Tribes," he said out loud, and not very politely. "There've been more and more of you showing up all the way out here in the center of the ocean. But you're... really pale, for a Runist. Is that just a decorative tattoo?"
