to tea, Play golf with her royal majesty:
The Red Queen. And maybe even chat
With the Cheshire cat.
Oh Figment! We Have to Go!
We'll be late and the queen will have
our heads!

The Tulgey Woods were exactly as Alice remembered them, heavy darkness puncuated with brilliant flashes of vivid garish colors, always humming with bizarre calls and strange sounds as the inhabitants skittered through the underbrush. Something rather like a badger or a turtle with short stag like horns shuffled in front of her, it's long nose snorting and snuffling. Alice paused to let the rath cross her path, smiling a little as several smaller creatures followed in it's foot steps.

              "Family outting then?"
She asked, although she recieved no response. She was never sure what could and what couldn't talk. Or perhaps it could and just wouldn't. She supposed it might not have time for strange women with swords striking up conversation. "Well, enjoy yourselves." She said with a shrug then watched them get on with their day.

After all, she had her own business too, several things left on her ever growing check list.

The Queen of Hearts had apparently be distressingly quiet as of late, so of course Alice had been tasked with going to check on her. Make sure she was just sulking in exile and not planning something diabolical or, if Dreamfinder's fears bore out, allying herself with Maleficent's cronies. (Alice thought this unlikely, as The Queen didn't seem capable of working with anyone for more then five minutes, let alone creatures more powerful then her.)

And then there was the matter of The Pen itself. One piece had been hidden in Wonderland, somewhere, at some point, and Alice had been tasked with finding and re-hiding it. Of course she didn't understand why something that was still hidden needed to be found only to be lost again. But as the member of The Guard most familiar with these woods, she had agreed to look. The woods were the least charted, and in the ruins of the old White Temple she had found the long dormant Vorpal Blade. Where there was one incredibly powerful artifact there might be others. So it was a start.

Something that one might assume was a bird, but may also have been a particularly frisky desk lamp hopped from the branch of one tree to another chirping something that was almost a tune. Alice hummed along as she walked through the shaded winding path. Taking care not to stumble on the local flora as she did.

Princess Aurora had chosen to change into her more casual dress which she wore when she went out into the woods for some alone time or if she wanted to pick some fresh berries. Once she was changed and comfortable Aurora would drape her shawl over her shoulders before pulling out the wand and smiled at it as her mind buzzed with ideas. Part of her wanted to go visit Phillip but she knew that he was just so busy with his duties that it would be so rude of her to distract him like that. So instead she thought for a moment and smiled "OK. Wand, I want you to take me somewhere...wondrous and fantastical! Somewhere I've never been to before!" she had remembered how fickle the wand could be with requests and the wishes of the user. Their orders and wishes had to be clear and not be open to interpretation, Aurora had learnt that the hard way the last time she used the wand. As soon as she finished the wand responded and Aurora felt herself get enveloped by a warm and comforting magic and in the blink of an eye she was in a strange forest.

At first everything seemed normal and she thought that she would have to give a more clear order but suddenly the sound of a bird could be heard overhead. Or at least she thought it was a bird as she saw what could only be described as a trumpet with wings fly away
"Oh!" oh the wand took her to someplace fantastical alright! Aurora soon began to wander down the path as more and more bright colors could be seen. Bright multi-colored mushrooms! Tree's whose leaves were all the colors of the rainbow! It was simply fantastic! "I can't wait to tell Phillip about this place! I wonder what it's called?" she questioned to herself as she wandered further down the path before coming to a crossroad with several different roads and nonsensical signs point in several different directions that were unmarked and most not even pointing to the roads. The very sight left the Princess chuckling, how interesting this place was!

Alice continued her walk through the tulgy woods unaccosted. Save for some strange birds and tumpet like noises it was remarkable quiet. And a little sad. As much as Alice spent a great deal of time wandering aimlessly on her own, adventures were more fun with a companion. And she had so many friends she'd hoped to see.

In the distance she caught snippets of a human voice and strained her ear to hear it more clearly as she walked towards it. Young, female, and faintly fammiliar. But she couldn't place it just yet.

Alice emerged from a cospe of trees and instantly had a face for the voice.

"Aurora?" She questioned a loud, although it was mostly rhetorical. As Alice knew precisely who this was. She'd met Princess Aurora through pen gaurd business once or twice. The girl was sweet, and charming, and absolutely was going to get eaten by a galmuphing boojum if left on her own.

Alice gave the other girl a polite little curtsy before moving over. "How on, or rather off earth did you get here?" She asked, breezing past any formality one might normally extend to royalty. If her finishing school teachers could see her now they'd faint dead away.

              This fact pleased Alice inordenantly.

"More over why. The Tulgy Wood's aren't exactly hospitible." Many places in Wonderland were of course, assuming one had a good stomach for nonsense. "Would you like a guide, Wonderland's very easy to get lost in. Arguably that's what it's designed for."

Aurora looked where each of the paths would take her with intrigue and delight. This place was so amusing, so many dead ends and long winding paths! It seemed so fun to just wander and see where each path would take her but then she also cautioned herself to not get too distracted, this was supposed to just be a personal outing...but then how many times did she get a chance to explore new unseen lands!? She was always restricted to the Enchanted Dominion and Phillips Kingdom and while she certainly didn't mind it Aurora did feel a desire to broaden her horizons. She was to become queen one day and the Princess would need to have a lot more experience with the world if she was to do a good job at it!

However before she could decide on a path to follow a familiar voice called out her name and she would turn around with a surprised look on her face before a warm smile took it's place
"Oh, Alice!" she spoke in a fond tone as she would return the others curtsy and chuckled a little bit when the other questioned how she had gotten here, not even noticing the lack of formalities "Oh, I had a little bit of help from Merryweather! She lent me her wand and well...I wanted to visit someplace fantastic!" she explained to the slightly younger girl and tilted her head a bit with a blink "It isn't Hospitable? I haven't seen anything that wasn't friendly so far" granted of course Aurora hadn't been here for too long so she couldn't be the best judge but so far everything simply had this adorable quirkiness to it.

Finally the Princess would clap her hands together as Alice finally informed her on where they were
"So this is Wonderland? I've heard some stories of it but it truly is something else to experience!" she giggled a little bit before nodding her head at the other girl "If it's not too much trouble, I would love to have a guide! There are so many paths to take I almost couldn't decide on where to go" she spoke with her warm smile never leaving her face before tilting her head a bit "If it's not too much trouble though Alice, will I be interrupting anything? I'd hate to distract you from anything you were doing" while Princess Aurora was a member of the Pen Alliance she knew that Alice was a part of the Pen Guard if she wasn't mistaken and she was more than likely a busy girl despite being a whole year younger than her. It did make Aurora feel a bit sad that she spent most of her time with Phillip and having an easy life in the castle while people like Alice fought hard to play their part in the Pen Guard.

"It's just the woods really, every where else is nice enough, if you've the stomach for nonsense." She explained with a casual shrug. She waved an arm towards the cospe of trees she'd emerged from. "There's all manner of boojums out there though." Alice of course had little fear of monsters. And her casual dismissal of the creatures that might lurk in the woods beyond demonstrated that.

"The wand certainly chose well, and it's not trouble at all. I'm on my way to The White Castle, I'd be happy to show you a few sights along the way. And I'm sure Her Majesty would be thrilled to meet you."

She started moving over to the nearest sign post still speaking as she did so.

"I'm off to let everyone know I'm back, and long walks are always so much nicer with some company."

Aurora wasn't wrong in her assumption, Alice was a busy girl, right now she was tasked with rehiding her piece of the pen. But she had more then a few ideas regarding safe places to pop it.

Alice peered closer at the sign post, squinting at it, not a single helpful instruction, a lot of directions not even using the English alphabet.

Alice sighed, exasperated. "You're absolutely no help you know."

              The sign post shuddered, insulted.

"Oh don't give me that, you aren't for starters you've gotten yourself entirely turned around, because I happen to know The Woods are that way-" She pointed to the cospe of trees she'd emerged from. "Where as you say they're that way." Alice gave the sign post a stern look and it wilted under her dissaproval, swinging things around until she eventually gave it a nod. "Much better."

"Now, if you'd be so kind, which way is The White Queen's castle."

The sign post straightened and every branch sticking out of it swung to one side as indication of where they should go.
              "Thank you very much."
Alice said, giving the round knob on the top gentle and appreciative pat and turning back to Aurora.

              "Alright, follow me."

Aurora giggled a small bit at the fun idea of the world being full of nonsense "Oh, I'm sure it'll be fine. In fact it does sound rather fun" she couldn't help but smile a bit at the silly sounding name that Alice had mentioned, boojums. They sounded positively delightful! Obviously she had no idea of the truth but judging from names alone and all the other adorable oddities of this world there was no way there could be too many dangers here! But then of course Alice was much more well acquainted with Wonderland than she was so Aurora would take the younger girls words as truth about the dangers. Once Alice confirmed that it wouldn't be any trouble bringing the Princess along she clasped her hands together in joy at the prospect of being able to spend time with the girl. Aurora would then blink a bit at the mention of Her Majesty and quickly tilted her head "Her Majesty? The Queen of Hearts I believe?...Or...was it the Red Queen?" Aurora questioned just to make sure she was correct. The Princess had heard hearsay about the Queen of Wonderland through the Pen Alliance but nothing ever truly concrete for the most part. Was she even thinking of the same person as Alice was?

Aurora would then follow the younger girl with a nod of the head and a warm smile once again gracing her features
"Oh my yes! Having company is always such a treat" she smiled fondly at the memory of how she and Phillip sometimes stroll through the woods, just the two of them for a romantic outing, away from all the hustle and bustle of the castle. Aurora would tilt her head a bit when Alice spoke to the sign that was placed there, however the Princess let out a small gasp when she saw the sign physically shudder. Was that just the convenient breeze she hadn't noticed? Then Alice began lecturing the sign and Aurora stared in absolute wonder as it turned out the sign was actually alive! An amused smile grew on her face, Wonderland truly was wonderful! Eventually the younger girl finally managed to get the sign to point them in the right direction. Aurora would then quickly nod her head as she followed after Alice, stopping at the sign to give a polite curtsy "Thank you for your assistance" it felt genuinely strange to be thanking a signpost but there she was, doing it! She giggled a small bit as the Princess fell into step alongside Alice "If Phillip saw me speaking to a sign he might think I've lost some marbles!" she laughed at the thought as suddenly Aurora decided that she and Phillip would have to come visit Wonderland together so that he could have the magical experience that she was right now.

Alice couldn't help a faint smile of her own at how bemused Aurora seemed with everything she said. Particularly the word boojum.

"They're far less amusing then the name implies." Alice explained. "Wicked claws and gnashing teeth are the defining feature. When one sees them at all." She added, the faint smile turning a touch mischevious as her thoughts flitted to some of the wilder horror stories she'd been told about the things that roamed the tulgey wood.

Attempts to scare her. She'd never admit when they worked, and now that she'd slain a Jabberwock, that most feared creature in all of Wonderland it would take more then wild stories of snark hunts gone bad to frighten her.

"Neither the one or the other. I don't think she'd take a visit from me particularly well. The White Queen however, I'm on very good terms with, or at least we were when I last visited."

Although by all accounts The Queen of Hearts had been rather quiet in her time out (pardon, her exile, though they amounted to the same thing in Alice's opinion, slap the overgrown baby on the wrist and ignore her for a while.) So perhaps a visit was in order, just to make sure she wasn't making a nuiscence of herself.

It was so easy to forget this was strange to other people. Even after years away Alice fell back into Wonderland logic with practised ease and some part of her bristled at the thought of being called mad for it.

"Arguably we have, I've yet to meet a sign here that can give decent directions." Alice offered the princess a smile of her own as she joked, continuing down the path.

Aurora listened to Alice speak about the appearance of the Boojum's and now the idea of their appearance in her head changed from an adorable little plump cutie to a horrible monster. A hand went up to her lips as she shook her head at the mere thought of it "Oh my...they sound positively terrifying!" the Princess had never even seen such a creature that could even vaguely resemble such a scary sounding monster. She then shook her head a bit to rid herself of the thoughts although now she knew to be much more wary in the woods from now in in Wonderland. Aurora would then tilt her head a bit as Alice explained to her that she wasn't speaking of the Queen of Hearts but the White Queen which surprised her a slight bit "Wonderland has two Queens?" she asked with a bit of surprise in her tone. She supposed that it wasn't impossible for a land to have two rulers, just separated into different Sovereignty between the two. Maybe she was just looking too deeply into it, the Princess was sure that in a land of such nonsense it wouldn't be the strangest thing in the world. Aurora then gave a small giggle at Alice's joke as she walked down the path with Alice. As the two walked she smiled and looked at everything with a sense of wonder, each thing that appeared was new and amazing. The keys that had wings and fluttered around like butterflies, the oversized multicolored mushrooms, the floating smile and bright yellow eyes floating atop a tree stump...wait... "Oh...OH!" she took a step back in shock and surprise as a grinning cat appeared, sitting atop the tree stump looking down at the two women "Ah Alice, bringing friends along for a journey she not yet know lies before her..." Aurora heard the cat speak which caught her attention right away as she looked at the girl beside her "A talking cat! It's a talking cat!" her violet eyes wide with wonder as she stared at the smiling animal with a mix of curiosity and wonder.

"And no end of strife because of it." Alice said, nodding to confirm that yes, the ruling structure was a bit all over the place. "Though between us in the gate post, neither actually does much when it comes to government. They just bicker amongst themselves and play lawn games."

Wonderland seemed to govern itself fine. In a world of nonsense someone trying to impose their will upon others was not a welcome thing.

They walked for some time, Alice would occassionally point out some new strange thing for Aurora to marvel over. The genuine wonder over it all made Alice smile. She'd been that excited about this place once, it was nice to veiw it through fresh eyes.

The glowing eyes how ever did not prompt any noticable smile. Instead Alice's mouth flicked into a tight little frown as the rest of the cat appriated into view, and she approached as it spoke.

"More that our journey's are running in the same direction. It's been too long cat."
The deadpan look on her face broke a little for a small smile.

In response The Cat's grin stretched even wider as he yawned, arching his back. Then he jumped from the branch, walking down invisible steps to settle on Alice's shoulders, draping himself there like scarf.

"Not long enough." He groused good naturedly as Alice scratched him behind the ears.

The cat's attention turned to Aurora who was excitedly pointing out it's presance.

"And here I thought I was a mongoose."
He mused, before leaning into Alice's scratches.

"Don't be mean." Alice chastised him. Pausing the ear scratch, perhaps as incentive to listen to her.

"Princess Aurora, this is The Cheshire Cat. He's insufferable."

The Cat for his part rolled his eyes at Alice's teasing and slipped of her shoulders seamlessly. Landing on his feet which had already begun to disseapear, leaving only a visible set of foot prints to indicate her was traipsing over to Aurora, winding his way around her legs.

"Charmed I'm sure, just ignore Alice. I'm a delight."

              OOC:

Aurora would blink a bit in surprise when Alice let her know that the Queen's actually did very little to govern Wonderland. Now what kind of Rulers are they that they just play lawn games all day? However the Princess supposed that in a world where so many wondrous and nonsensical things existed it would only stand to reason that same could go for the royal bloodline as well. As they continued walking Aurora would let out a noise of delight whenever Alice pointed out something new and interesting. This whole place was simply magical, there just always seemed to be something new to see no matter what! "Oh Alice! This place is magnificent!" she exclaimed with a bright smile on her face. The abundance of fascinating creatures and things was what the Princess loved most about Wonderland! However once the Cheshire cat made his presence known Aurora was simply enthralled with him at the moment, in a land where nonsense was the norm it was fascinating to see something so normal. Yet even the Cat had his own quirks about him that fit him right in with Wonderland! Aurora would quickly do a curtsy and nodded her head just a little bit when he teased the Princess "My Apologies!" once Alice introduced him though Princess Aurora giggled a little bit at how expressive he was. But when the cat began to disappear the Princess was caught off guard as she watched the paw prints make their way over to her and she found it so odd that she couldn't see him yet she could feel his fur brush against her legs. She giggled a little bit and smiled down at where she could see the prints circle "Oh I'm sure you're a perfect darling" a small noise could be heard come from the Cheshire Cat, apparently pleased that Aurora took his side. Soon enough the paw prints would begin to walk towards the tree line but not before looking back as nothing but a pair of eyes could be seen by the two women "Hurry along now Alice, the White Queen is expecting you. But be wary, something has caused the Queen of Heart's ire lately" with that mysterious warning the Cheshire cat vanished once more into the woods causing Aurora to cover her mouth in concern "Is he always so ominous?" she asked Alice with a look of concern beginning to etch into her features.

(OOC: Oh no it's cool! I figured we could both control smaller side characters to spice things up! The Cheshire Cat included!)

Alice rolled her eyes at the preening Cheshire Cat, although it was clear she was fighting a smile. Although her mouth twitched downward into a frown.

Mild irritation, but no more. "Of course it has." Alice said with deep sigh. After all, she could never just, visit. Have a nice chat. Something always had to be terribly wrong in Wonderland, something had to demand The Champion's attention.

Her expression softened looking to Aurora.
              "More or less,"
she explained trying to be reassuring. "It somewhat loses his effect after the hundreth cryptic statement or so. Really he just likes to stir the pot."

But then Alice was constantly stirring up trouble herself. Perhaps that's why the cat followed her around so often. "And I'm sure whatever has Her Majesty's bloomer's in a knot this time won't be any trouble to sort out." In the absolutely worst case she could always call in back up.

After all, she wasn't alone in her heroics anymore. She had The Guard (small though it was,) and the alliance, (although there were some members Alice didn't really want to drag into a fight.) She glanced in Aurora's direction as she thought on this. And then gave the other woman another brief smile.

Aurora would listen to Alice as the Princess seemed a bit worried at the Cheshire Cat's warning. Although her worry soon began to melt away as Alice tried reassuring her that there was probably nothing to be worried about. Aurora giggled a little bit when Alice called explained the cat liked to stir the pot "Oh? So he is a little trouble maker, how positively darling!" she smiled a little bit although the Princess did nod her head a little bit at Alice's comment on the Queen. It did make sense that Alice didn't seem too worried about the Queen of Hearts since she did deal with her in the past. What was there really to worry about honestly? Still though Aurora felt in her gut that something bad was going to happen soon? Oh it was probably just her worrying over nothing! She simply shook it off and returned Alice's smile as she grabbed onto the younger girls hand and began to walk along the path swinging their hands together as they walked "Come on Alice! There's so many more wonderful things out here to see!" she urged the Champion of Wonderland along before pausing in her steps to point out different things that were probably mundane to Alice but amazing to the Princess.

Alice started as Aurora grabbed her hand, but relaxed immediately, allowing the other girl to pull her along. Letting some of her infectious excitement to rub off. She'd pause to explain things when she could, although much of what Aurora pointed out was well beyond explaination.

It was in the middle of one of these small detours, that a much larger distraction would make it's appearance. The pair of them were seated beside a stream of treacle, the current laze by bringing with it the occasional animal enjoying a golden after noon on rowboat.

Alice had already offered Aurora some of the scones she'd packed for her trip and was tucking in to her own when a fast moving ball of light came whizzing by, it's message almost lost as it sped past the two women. Pulled a sharp U-turn and came back to them bobbing frantically, as it spoke in Dreamfinder's voice.

Alice quirked a brow in curiocity at the little creature.

              "I see."
She said once it had finished. She shoved the rest of her scone into her mouth, wiped some crumbs away and held up a finger to single the little spark to wait while she swallowed the last of her snack. She cast a glance towards Aurora, she didn't quite know what to do with the other girl. After all, she wasn't in The Guard proper. "You can come along if you'd like, if not, I'm sure The White Rabbit can get you home safely once you reach the castle."

Alice returned her attention to the spark. "Alright, lets go then." She rose, smoothed the fabric of her bicycling trousers and grabbed hold of the spark, waiting for Aurora to make her decision.

Aurora rather enjoyed the time she was spending with Alice, this had originally just planned to be a twenty minute trip to an amazing new world and yet here she still was. It seemed that Wonderland had no end of amazing things to see if just this small part of the forest was anything to go by. She would then giggle a little bit as she saw animals seemingly enjoying a peaceful boat ride which was positively delightful! The Princess would politely decline the offer of a scone as she wasn't feeling hungry quite yet but still she appreciated the thought. However she would blink a little bit as a hand flew up to her mouth in surprise "Oh!" she would then stand by as the Princess realized that this was official guard business for Alice. It was rather unfortunate that it seemed their time together was up. However she blinked in surprise when Alice offered an invitation to come along with her. Wasn't this Guard business though? True enough Aurora was in the Alliance but she obviously wasn't suited for the duties of a guard. However the thought of seeing the Pen Guards work up close was almost too tempting to pass up and it also gave her a chance to show what she was capable of. Maybe she could even be of some use! She offered a small smile and lifted her dress up a bit so she could move more quickly along with Alice should the need to run arise "I'll come with you, friends need to stick together!" the Princess stated with a smile on her face as she moved with Alice to wherever she was needed.
