"The place where all abnormalities go" ((I did not draw this map, i just found it and thought it was awesome))People in power, fear those with power. It's an undeniable fact. Unfortunately that also means that there is a barrier between what should be and what is. In the late two thousands a new “race” of people were created through unknown circumstances. Some believe that the gods were just playing tricks on them while others believed it to be a sign of the apocalypse. What happens when something new comes along and no one understands how to handle it? Fear. Those people who could not be bought, owned and controlled were killed, captured or sent away. It was containable for a time as the population of abnormalities was much smaller than that of an average person but they soon had no place left to safety hold all the abnormalities. Something had to be done. The leaders of the world gathered to determine what was the best course of action to take. “We'll send them away. All of them good or bad.” For the sake of their normal, controllable world, those with abilities would be cast out. It took several years of searching but the leaders of the world came up with their solution when they found, what they later named, the Lands of Nevermore. This would serve as the new home to the abnormalities and keep their society “safe”. As soon as the landmass was found, they began shuttling people over. To avoid possible returns, people were later flown and dropped off so that no “normal” would set foot on the island. It became the go to place for abnormalities. Some were good, people who'd used their abilities for one reason or the other and discovered by the wrong person. And some people were bad. Very bad, using their abilities for personal gain and causing harm to both people and landscape. They were the reason for the island but the law did not discriminate. Several years passed and the abnormalities began to live on the island. A good number founded a small village which became civilized and later on developed a Monarchy to keep some kind of control over the lawless new world. Several different types of people became known from savages to civil men but without technology and only memories of the past world, they were expected to start anew. Both old and young were sent to the islands. It's been twenty some years sense the last arrival, where are you? Were you born on the island and raised in a small town? Did you arrive as a child, teen or adult, wary of this new world? Do you live a secluded life in the woods, or maybe a dry life in the desert. Are you a common man? Or possibly part of the new Monarchy? What is your place in all this and what do you plan to do? The Lands of Nevermore are full up with those who have abilities, however newer generations have been spotted with those who do not. Those who don't have abilities are shunned, especially when they don't match that of their parents. The monarchy has pulled in every bit of wealth they can from the land and the people leaving those outside the towns to fend for themselves. Several tribes are scattered about, some more civil than others as circumstances were not equal among the abnormalities. There is a rumor though that the here islands are hiding something much more than just the people who live there. Somewhere sleeps a dangerous beast. People who live in towns have no fear of this monster because their walls protect them but those outside of the walls know much more. Lately people have been dying. Someone, or something, is hunting them down and leaving an indescribable mess behind. The townsfolk believe it to be the work of a madman but for those who have actually seen the mess with their own eyes, it's hard to believe any human could do such a thing. The king has called in hundreds of hunters to find whoever is responsible and all has so far failed him. Today he extended his invitation to the tribes outside his borders. For the first time sense the founding of the kingdom, "savages" are being allowed into the castle to meet with the king in hopes of ending the shameless death. For whatever reason, whatever background, you were called here. The blood of another will flow if this criminal isn't found. The man who brings me the murderer will receive his weight in gold and a place in the court should he wish it. We shall meet in the great hall, where I will address you and tell you the details of the hunt. ~ King James

The village is a bustling business with people trading amongst themselves. With no technology or the means to access it, people resorted back to the fifteen hundreds or so where they traded for the items they needed. Through the combined efforts of James and some other of his closest friends, they were able to build the town and protect it's people. James was crowned king thirty years ago when he discovered a massive cave filled with gems. They melted down precious metals and managed to make both weapons and jewelry alike. With a new economy in the making, the world more or less restarted itself with a little twist. Everyone here, or almost everyone, has magic. Some use it for daily duties such as a fire user being a blacksmith of a water user tending to crops but others used their abilities for tricks or fighting. Whatever the case it wasn't uncommon to see someone levitating a tea cup or making it rain.
Today was a different kind of day though. While the people still bustled about, there was a strange ominous air. The gates to the town would be open until sun set and all sorts of strange people had entered. There were shady characters who kept to themselves or their groups, whispering every so often. There were well dressed men from other towns and more tattered ones from the outskirts of villages. There were even people clad in animal skins from the tribes across the islands. These people stuck out against the normal townsfolk and didn't go unnoticed. The townsfolk whispered amongst themselves but when approached would become silent. They were under orders from their king to be welcoming to the strangers but none of them had any need to be over friendly.
The road twists around the village houses and across a short bridge into the castle courtyard. Several guards stand there watching wearily as group after group enter the castle to speak with their king. They are careful to eye each person who comes in so that they can protect their king more adequately. Through the long courtyard , up the steps and through the front door, there is a clear path to the great hall but a small walk to separate groups of people. Only a small number of people are allowed audience with the king at a time due to the fact that everyone is potentially dangerous, so just before the doors to the great hall, is a small collection of people waiting.
It's going to be a long day.

There were several small groups outside the giant doors chatting with each other or simply resting. The most active group was filled with loud laughter and several hints of mockery. A semi circle of people hid a small blond from sight. She sat quietly on a stone bench with her head down and her eyes closed. Had she been dressed normally she wouldn't have been on anyone's radar but her clothes spoke volumes as to who she was. Firstly, no shoes. Her bare feet rested comfortably on the floor, the souls rough and dirtied from the walk over. A stone bracelet encircled her left ankle with varying shades of red decorating it. Her skin tone was much darker than the others as she spent a lot of time working in the sun. Her clothing was made completely of leather, fine fitting in some parts but loose in others. A loose, brightly colored cloth ran from hip to hip with a strange pattern embroidered on it with beads. It looked a lot like a fairy of sorts but it was wrinkled and hard to make out. Her top was made of the same leather as her pants. It covered her chest mostly but had no sleeves and ended above her navel. Her hair was tied back in a loose tail but a single blond braid rested over her shoulder. It was decorated with small beads that shimmered when she moved. The strangest of her features was none of this, however, it was the markings. On her arms and face were several, scattered markings made in a dark ink. Many wouldn't understand them but to those who knew their stuff, they labeled her. She was part of a tribe that made their home in the Forest of the Lost. They had no official name but those who had been unfortunate enough to meet them had dubbed them “the spellbound” for their strange beliefs.
“Hey girly, you sure you should be here? There's a big bad monster out there, you know?!” One of the men called to her in a mocking tone. “That's what you people believe right?” The small group laughed in unison. She said nothing in response but her hands clenched in her lap. It was common belief that the one committing all the vicious murders was just another person with some crazy ability. Maybe it was but that was not what she had come to believe. No she and family believed something much larger and more dangerous was the culprit. Of course she'd been warned by the chief that such things would happen if she chose to make this journey but they weren't making any progress, just more dead bodies and no clues.
“Aww, look at that, she ignored you.” Another man chimed in which incited another fit of laughter.
This caused the first man a bit of embarrassment and a need push further. He stepped closer and hunched his body over so that she could see his shape blocking the natural light behind her eye lids. His hand slid past her face, just lightly brushing her braid before coming to a stop against the cool stone wall. “Hey, i'm talkin to you. You deaf or somthin?” She felt a hand on her chin and her eyes snapped open. Bright blues locked onto dull greys and her expression didn't change. She could feel the stranger's fingers biting into her cheeks and his breath was making her nose wrinkle in disgust. She let him continue his actions for a few more moments as she was trying to calm herself before approaching the situation. She'd always had a temper and as of late she was becoming better at controlling it. This trip was also suppose to help her with that. “Hey” his voice throbbed in her ears again and she felt her control slip.
A small flame sparked at the nape of the man's neck. It spread to his clothes without him even noticing. Yunari turned her lips up into a pleasant smile and informed the man of his predicament “You're on fire” The words hit him and the man immediately began to pat down his body. The crowd chimed in to help him out and he tossed himself away from the tribal woman and onto the floor in an attempt to put it out. Unfortunately for him this was not a simple kind of fire. When his attempts to put out the flame failed, the man stood and ran down the hall in search of water. After that the crowd around her dispersed and she lightly rubbed at her face “savage” she muttered softly to herself. She was beginning to think of going back home and letting these “civilized men” get murdered by the beast. Maybe then they would learn something.

The busy streets swept the city with new vigor and excitement, the opening of the doors to the other tribe was something likely to happen once in a live time. Though the air filled with tension, there was also life, excitement, and with this terror of the unknown creature or man that was harming all their way of life. The crowds that split into groups, not socializing, much like a distant family that only saw each other once in a blue moon. Along one of the walls towards the castle gate, sat a young boy, in truth would have been almost invisible if not for his fiery red hair which hung down to his shoulders, wrapped in rags and a small cup in front of him, he appeared to be asleep his head bouncing with each breath he took. His face worn from being over exposed to the harsh sun for some time now. His feet wrapped in cloth, and torn in places from the long journey that he had made. He was not part of a tribe, he had only came to the city to make money, in his mind he could care less about the need to slay a monster or man, he just needed the reward and he would side with who ever he saw fit to get him that.
His eyes opened slightly as he heard the movement of his cup, crisp green eyes starred at a older man reaching into the cup to remove what little the people of the town had given him in begging. His slender arm reached out towards the would be thief and gripped the man's wrist with as much force as he could muster. He was frail, but lean in build, likely due to not having a proper meal in many months. His hand tightened and with a clean snap you heard the thief's wrist bone snap, the thief fell backwards onto his back, holding his wrist and screaming in pain. All the while screaming curses at the young lad, but the boy simply reached for his cup and held it out towards the man, his green eyes piercing through him in a dead lock. The thief looked around and noticed he had drawn a lot of attention to himself, and even through the pain of a broken bone, he stood and reached into a coin purse and dropped a single coin into the cup and moved back into the crowd and vanished the whole while holding his wrist and a look of pain and anger on his face.
The boy set the cup back down in front of himself and glanced at the rest of the 'tribes' that starred at him, but he did not move from his spot, his eyes closed again and he re-positioned himself to get comfortable again, his hair fell into his face and he brushed it behind his ear and folded his arms across his chest. The right side of his neck was branded with a large X scar that had been branded into his neck, it looked as though it had healed itself over the course of many years but it was still visible. It was a sign, of someone that had betrayed their tribe, at least in the south of the island. It was an old tradition, likely one that had not been seen in use for many years. Though likely the oddest part of it was due to the boys age, no one approached him afterwards, he was tainted with an ill-omen and none of the other people would want anything to do with him. He could hear whispers around him, others talking about his scar and the breaking of the thief's wrist, a few ventured to question what kind of power he had and others boosted about how they should throw him out, he wasn't welcome in the King palace and the guards would never let him in.
Though in truth the boy knew that was a possibility and yet he had still ventured here, in worn clothes nothing like the tribesman who showed off their tribe with pride and honor. He opened his eyes again as he heard a man running through the crowd on fire, his eyebrow raised as he watched the man jump into a nearby fountain. He softly broke a smile, cracked lips, as he was glad he was not the only one in the group of people to be causing some problems, as he glanced in the direction the man had run from he noticed a blond haired woman sitting by herself and with the crowd staged a good few feet around her, sighing he closed his eyes again it was not his concern.

The poorly clothes man was in her sights the moment he stepped near the castle. It was bad enough that the king was allowing people from the tribes to enter their sanctum but one that looked like this street rat? She eyed him carefully from the safety of the crowd which gave her front row seats to the would be thief. Her mind changed, though not much, about the presence of this boy. She didn't know a lot about the tribes other than what her family had pounded into her head. They were savage people who didn't live civil or bathe on a regular basis. The blond girl over by the grand hall doors looked like a tribal woman but it seemed that there were different classes as her clothing seemed to be of a different caliber than this man's. Funny how he interested her more. The dark haired lady slid through the crowd as one would through the ocean. The people more or less moved away from her as she grew closer, some not noticing at all. She wasn't known to many as she didn't leave the castle often but her clothing said more than enough. She was a well dressed woman, wearing deep purples and endless blacks. The fabric was much softer than what the average man could afford and the jeweled necklace set it off. She was a noble, a real Lady in the standards of their community.
“Can you do that again?” She questioned softly as she crouched beside the boy. She folded her pale arms around her knees and her long dark hair brushed the ground as she reached forward and dropped several coins into the boy's cup. She rested her violet gaze on the boy, waiting to receive a response or for him to even open his eyes. From watching him earlier, he didn't even move till the man touched his cup. “Not right now of course, I don't want any broken bones... but theoretically.” A smile found it's way to her lightly painted face. She had to make sure to protect her skin from the sun as she had a delicate complexion. “My name's Raven, friends call me Ray, and I might have a job for you.” She would have to clean him up. If this was what he could do in his condition, what if he were more well fed? She let the thoughts fall to the back of her mind and pressed her palms to her knees.
She straightened her posture and brushed the wrinkles from her dress. She'd offer him her hand but she was not that trusting of a person and her bones would crack much easier than some thief's. Ray stretched and glanced down to the boy once more. If he ignored her, she'd have to find someone else but she was hoping he wouldn't. Her dark eyes then shifted over to the blond woman. She'd seen the flame from her as well. It was hard to determine just what she could do with such a small prank but despite all the people, true pickings were slim here. Most of the abilities she'd seen today were sub par lacking in strength or some other factor as some people had great abilities but lacked to harvest them correctly. It was a shame really. She didn't even know what this guy's ability was, just that he was quick, effective.
“Of course if you're not interested, i'll leave you be.”

It was a beautiful morning Lyna thought to her self. she looked out the door to her small balcony that over looked the main entrance to the town she was happy to see the doors open, though most the people in the town advised against it. Lyna stepped out leaning with her elbow on the railing her chin resting in her hands. looking at all the faces some she recognized from her town "uhm" her town the town that never helped the ones different from them.. but not this time she was going to find a place to fit in and leave this town behind her as a memory. A commotion caught her attention a man lite on fire running away from a blond girl but Lyna wasn't surprised she recognized the men he was with all jerks probably saying thing they shouldn't, then a loud scream came from a man kneeling in front of a boy that looked to be begging for some coin the man leaves holding hes arm, then Lyna watches as a purple haired girl goes over and drops some coin in the cup as they share a conversation. leaning forward Lyna jumps off the balcony on to the main street

The boy heard the coins hit his cup and he glanced towards the woman, his green eyes starred at her extended hand, He didn't move towards her, he reached for his cup and grabbed his cup, pulling the coins from it he placed them inside of a small bag, it was nearly full of coins. Well enough that he could have bought new clothes and likely several meals, but it remained full and it grew with each passing day. He knew what the woman was asking of him in truth, she wanted to know what his power was, powers were your status in this world. He stood before the woman, his hand still holding his cup as he thought about his next course of action.
"If it pays I will do whatever." He said, his voice cracking as though he had not used it for several days. His hand clenched the cup and it crushed with ease, though between the metal you could see small sparks arch between each bent section of the cup. As it arched it began to glow red hot, and dripped out from between his hands onto the ground. This was his only way to display some power without drawing too much attention to himself.
"Lead the way, if you can promise pay." He said with a fierce tone as he brushed his hand clean of the last metal shards that had cooled into his hand, small burn marks resided in his hand, but slowly those vanished as the skin seemed to heal around them. He starred at the woman, waiting for her reaction, he in truth could not control his power in too much effort, most of it happened without his knowledge, he was young likely not more than twelve years old, but his manners and fierce tone and eyes told a story of someone who had almost lost themselves in the course of in a single purpose.

Something about this boy was off setting. His ability didn't make sense. He was melting and crushing. She didn't let her expression get too out of control as she didn't want to draw attention to herself either. But she was definitely intrigued. Ray clapped her hands together softly with delight and nodded “Yes, that is beautiful.” she have a quick nod and glanced to the Blond once more. She would recruit that woman as well seeing as they both had destructive abilities. With any luck she'd be rid of this monster and soon after that, the king. Of course she would never say any of this out loud but first thing was first. This boy, was no ordinary boy. While she had expected that, he was growing more and more of a mystery. He had money, she'd seen that. So why did he beg?
She felt eyes on her for a moment but there were too many people in the crowd to pin point an exact location. She sighed softly and turned her attention to the boy once more “Do you have a name, or something by which I can call you?” It would be silly to introduce him to anyone without first identifying himself. What would she do if he didn't have name? She'd made the wrong assumption before but was lucky enough to be spot on when it came to what he wanted. Violet eyes scanned the crowd once more and she waved her hand a little to get the boy to follow her. “I'll have you meet the king. With everyone flocking to the city today, I've been charged with finding more promising people.” Almost everyone had magic and unfortunately that put a lot of strain on what the social class was. It confused her that a boy with such power would be living in such conditions but he had gold. Why didn't he spend it? As confusing as it was, it wasn't for her to worry about as their relationship was just business.

The boy glanced in the direction of the woman's eyes and noted the girl with blond hair, he couldn't help but realize that the woman was recruiting individuals she found promising but that in truth didn't concern him. He only cared about if she could actually pay him. "Gyel." He said with a note of acknowledgement to her question.
His face winched at the mention of his own name however, he couldn't help but feel that it would likely be a sure fire sign to tell others who he was. Though in the back of his mind he knew better than that, he wasn't still in the south, and in honestly he knew no one knew him or at least of the tale that followed him.
"Can we get a move on then?" He questioned his eyes resting back on Raven.

The crowds of people suddenly moved apart as a small group of guards circled around a corner on their patrol. Leading them a young boy with golden hair, which was pulled back into a pony-tail. Wearing dark blues to signify that he was a commander in the King's army. Dark blue eyes glanced at each person in the crowd, a friendly smile spread across his face as he said hello to each person that crossed his path, even though behind his eyes was a spark of eagerness.
His hand resting a curved sword at his side, it was curved backwards and was only about two feet long unlike his other members long swords which they kept on their backs Suddenly he felt the rush of air and his hand gripped his sword tightly as if readying for an attack, however he was thrown off by a girl landing in front of him, his face glancing upwards at the window which she had leaped out from and back to the door just below it.
His hand let go of his sword and reached forward griping the girls shoulder as she had managed to cause a bit of confusion and stir, leaning down to be even with girls face."It's most definitely unladylike to be leaping from windows when there is a door a few feet below." He said with a chuckle in his voice.

" anyways sorry to startle you" flipping her long gray hair behind her. with her green eyes she looked back up to hes face and realized she knew him from when they where kids. "oh hey you" hoping that would remind him of who she was.

It was strange how he reacted to the sound of his own name so she just nodded in response and moved onto her second task. Time was wasting and there was much to do. She waltzed over to the blond figure and eyed her carefully before offering her hand. “You're here to see the king right?” She questioned with a pleasant smile. She didn't know what this woman wanted so she didn't know what to offer like she had with the boy.
To her luck the blond looked up at the out stretched hand and slowly nodded “Yes. It's important that I see him” Her eyes drifted over to the boy that followed her. His hair was the reddest she'd ever seen and distracted her for several moments. As soon as she could pull away from that she found the scar. Her tribe didn't scar their members though she was semi familiar with what it stood for. He'd done something bad, something unforgivable to his people but he was so young. Yunari bit her lip and stood, wary of the boy. She reached out to shake hands with the dark haired woman but she pulled her hand back when she felt how icy cold her skin was. Just what was she getting herself into?
“Good. Well I didn't see anyone else but I might get lucky later.” With one last glance around she ushered the two through the large doors and into the grand hall. The room was massive in size but lacked furniture. It was used for parties mostly and other such gatherings. Today it held only two thrones, one larger than the other. In the large throne sat an older man. His hair still held some bits of natural black but the rest was dusted over with grey. He was arguing feverously with a small impish man in a soft tone when they entered. This conversation silenced and two of the several guards littered around the room stepped forward to intercept the trio. The little man snuck off and the king fixed his posture on the throne.
“What do we have this time?” He questioned with no sense of urgency. The guards stepped back and Raven moved closer to the throne, while waving at the others to follow. “Raven, tell me this is better than it looks. Our deal...”
“I know the stipulations of our deal, father” Her violet eyes glared the man down and he returned her gaze with a cold stare but nodded his head for her to continue. She turned to the pair and cleared her throat “So, i'm sure you've both heard about those murders recently? I want you two to help me catch it. The official reward is your weight in gold” She glanced to Gyel and bit her lip. She wasn't sure he weighed all that much. “But we can talk about your rates.” She intended on paying him what ever she had to. If she were the one to bring down this murderer, she would win the bet with the King, with her father.
This all sounded good and dandy and it did align with what she came here for but they had it all wrong. “You have to return what you stole, or the killing won't stop” Yunari stated. Her fierce green eyes stared the king down like he was no more than a pebble on the ground. “ I will do what I can but you could fix this without more blood shed” King James tightened his gaze at the blond woman in his court. His hand gripped the edge of his chair but he made no other indication that her statement bugged him.
“Very well. This is who you've chosen then. Happy hunting Raven. I'll begin looking for suitors immediately”
“Let's go” Ray grumbled softly as she turned on her heel and began to leave.

The man starred at Lyna for a few moments as he straightened and glanced towards his men, they were tightening their ranks in response to being stopped within a crowd. He knew her every well, she had always followed him around as they were growing up. His hand ran through his hair as he glanced around at the people, many who would never see the Kings face, they were weak and likely would die and the King would not want to risk innocent lives even with a reward.
"Lyna, where is your weapon? Your commanding officer will not find it kindly for you missing a weapon." He said with a small smile slipping across his lips.
"Ren, we need to keep moving." One of his men spoke to him.
Ren sighed in disgust at the thought of wondering the streets, he however knew that the soldier was right. Ren had grown up in the capital and unlike many of the others around him, he held no power but a skill with a sword, one that he honed every day before rounds, making himself a name for himself.

Gyel followed the woman towards the blond girl, but he held no interest in this and didn't even respond to any of the conversation. However as they entered into the throne room, he could feel the tension from the woman known as Ray and the guards that stood next to him made him uneasy. His eyes shifted between all those present as they spoke, the girl was the daughter of the King. This made him uncomfortable and you could see his reaction turn to a defense one as he readied himself for any type of attack.
Though when Ray addressed them about money his features went back to being calm, he would not risk the loss of money. Though his mind glanced at the King and he wondered if he could hold him ransom for a higher sum, but he doubted even if he was to unleash everything he had, he could escape.
Gyel stood in the hall, allowing himself to turn his attention back towards the King, he stood there his eyes a calm green sea. "All we need to do is kill this beast? If that is the case I demand Esta the tribe of the south be rewarded all of my reward and it become restored." He said towards the King, his expression not changing once in his statement.
The guards around him began to laugh at his bold statement, Esta had been a tribe of great importance as powerful warriors and those that had once serviced the King as his personal body guards. Though after several years they had fallen from grace and become a tribe known for assassins and killers. Two years ago, however the tribe was said to have been ripped apart due to conflict between its leaders and now laid as just a shabby state of woman and some children, all the men in the tribe had been killed in the process of the conflict.
"I can not promise it will produce another warrior like of the past, but the tribe can not be forgotten after its service to you." His words almost full of sorrow as he chocked out the sentence, but his expression did not weaver and he held his stand even as a guard approached him.
