I applied for unemployment at the end of Apr '14, (confirmation number:17884066) due to my hours being decreased at Sprig Electric. I served my waiting period during the week 4th May - 10th May. I then worked at Sprig and had excessive earnings the week of 11th May - 17th May and the weeks following. I re-applied for unemployment in the beginning of Jun '14, (confirmation number: 18114046)
1th June - 7th June - Worked 38 hrs at Sprig Electric 8th June - 14th June - I did not work 15th June - 21st June - Worked 24 hrs at Sprig Electric 22nd June - 28th June - Worked 32 hrs at Sprig Electric 29th June - 5th July - Worked 30 hrs at Sprig Electric
I received a form in June with the wrong weeks on it. I tried to call multiple times but was unable to speak to a representative. I changed the dates on the form to reflect the correct dates of 6/8/2014 - 6/14/2014 that I did not work and sent it in.
I received a notice to re-send the form without changing the dates which I complied with, filling out the form correctly and including the hours I worked. Again I attempted to call the number of (800) 300-5616 multiple times to find out about the week I did not work so I could see about getting a payment for it. I was unable to reach a representative.
Later in June, I received a form for the dates of 06/22/2014 - 06/28/2014 and 06/29/2014 - 07/05/2014. I filled out the form with my hours work but mistakenly put in my net payment instead of my gross payment. By then work had picked back up and I had given up trying to contact the UI offices through the phone system.
I finally received funds for all three weeks on the 30th July into my EDD account at Bank of America.
To the honorable judge
I am the primary income for my household. My career is one that supports my family when I am working but has it's lulls through out the year. While we do save as much as possible during the months that I am occupied, we rely on the unemployment system to get us through those slow patches as it is designed to do. Without such system in place I would not be able to pay the bills and we would lose our home which would then prevent me from going back to work when it did pick back up. Over the years I have seen the system become more streamlined and accessible which has been fantastic to see. With digital submissions and webcert the chances of something being recorded incorrectly has been greatly decreased. I do hope this error can be re-mediated so that I can continue to provide for my family. Thank you very much for hearing me out.
