Merlinite knew what happened here. The blood, the dead bodies barely concealed, the showiness of it all. Painite had been here. He felt her aura and did his best to hide from it. He ran away, as he always had whenever she was in question.
But he came back now, once she was gone, and saw the result of her games. She killed people for fun, and for pleasure.
Kneeling next to one of the bodies, sliced by her deadly spear and having bled out on the floor, he put his clawed hand over the dead senshi's eyes and closed them for her. He did not know this one, but it barely made it any better.
If he hadn't have run away, he might have saved this senshi, and the civilian dead along side her. He was still making the same, cowardly choices, and facing the same devastating results. Maybe this was just his lot in life. Witness to terrible things, and never able to stop them.
He had the senshi's blood on his claws. It was everywhere. The civilian was whole, but that probably meant Painite had taken their starseed.

Hyperborea felt a strange and disturbing aura, it felt like some mixture of a General's aura and the aura of a Youma. Hyperborea had no idea what that meant but she figured it was probably bad news. She was afraid, she hadn't made squire yet and she was facing something with a similar aura to a General. But she had to try, she couldn't let someone be hurt by whatever owned this horrible aura.
The scene she found once she had reached the owner of the aura did nothing to ease Hyperborea's tension. She found some horrific combination of a man and a dragon. But far worse than the twisted Youma/man combination was the carnage he stood over. There was a Senshi torn apart and a civilian who looked unconscious though Hyperborea guessed their starseed had been stolen. A part of her wanted to scream and cry in horror at the blood and dead bodies but a greater part of her wanted to make the person, who she had literally caught red clawed, pay.
She didn't care if this thing was a General or a Youma-person. Hyperborea knew she had to make him pay for the sake of the poor Senshi and the poor civilian. "Fils de salope!" She screamed at the murderer in anger. Normally Hyperborea was a very proper girl, she almost never cursed and didn't even know very many English curses but thanks to her Pépé watching football (soccer) she knew plenty of French curses. She charged the Youma-man and tackled it as hard as she could.

Merlinite felt the aura of a white moon something or other coming closer to him. A Page, it felt like. Ever since becoming part youma, his ability to distinguish auras had increased. he was not really sure he wanted to think about why that was.
He did not consider himself a hunter.
Standing slowly, he turned toward the Page as she approached, lifting his clawed hands and realizing his mistake. it was hard to make claws that were dripping in blood look innocent.
"W-wait, no!" He tried, but she was already flying at him. She was a very brave young knight, or a very stupid one, to be throwing herself into a battle she was out classed for, but maybe she did not realize what he was. They fought youma all the time, after all. He spread his wing on instinct, trying to stabilize himself, but he fell over with her tackling him and struggled to free himself. He ended up kicking her off, which resulted in him scratching her across the stomach, though that was not really his intention, and only happened in his panic.
"Oh, no, I'm sorry! Wait a second, wait a second!" he yelped, quickly losing control of the situation.

Hyperborea slowly got to her feet. She held her stomach which had been scratched by the Youma-General. It thankfully wasn't bleeding too much but it still hurt like hell and the kick had knocked the breath out of her. "Why should I wait. Do you want to gloat like her? Tell me how much you like seeing me bleed?" Hyperborea huffed angrily. "Thats sick. I don't care if your way more powerful than me. I'll find a way to make sure you don't hurt anyone else."
Had Hyperborea been thinking straight she would have noticed the Youma-man's apology or the fact that he seemed to genuinely not want to fight. However Hyperborea wasn't thinking straight.
Maybe I could call someone for help....no they wouldn't get here in time. Dammit Hype why didn't you send for help before rushing in. Hyperborea brought her fists up in a fighting stance ready for the Youma-General to try to finish her off.

Merlinite had not meant to make her bleed at all, and looked at her guiltily while she got back to her feet after he kicked her. She saw what his clawed foot managed to do, and winced at it. He really needed to practice more with his claws and tail, to learn how to control them and be... gentle.
If it were possible for a youma to do that.
Her words made him shudder, but he had no idea she was talking about the same person who had turned him into this monster in the first place. It just made him think of her, and he felt his stomach do a flip.
Maybe he could get her to calm down...
Swinging his tail, he tried to knock her feet out from under her, and get her down on the ground so he could maybe pin her there. Not his best decision, but his fight or flight instincts were screaming at him and it was hard to compromise between the two.
"I don't want to see you bleed, or hurt you at all! Just... just calm down a second and we can talk, okay?"

Normally Hyperborea would be able to avoid a big tail trying to not her off her feet but the speed of the Youma-general and her own injury meant that she was quickly knocked to the ground and pinned.
She tried to struggle out of his grip but the strange man was much stronger than the young page plus he had leverage. But then she realized he wasn't trying to claw her face off or belittling her as Painite did.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down and listen to whatever this man had to say. "Alright fine...I'll hear what you have to say, its not like I have much of a choice." She said sadly in resignation. She still didn't trust the man-monster who's claws she had seen dripping with blood.

Merlinite sighed in relief when she stopped struggling, scooting back away from her. He skittered like a lizard, using his hand and feet on the ground as he backed up, claws clicking against the stone ground. He watched her for a moment before he swing his tail around his legs and crouched into a kind of comfortable position.
Watching her for a moment, he let her get up if she wanted to, not offering any more attacks or movements to try and hurt her. He had to get her to trust him.
It was funny. When he was a Nega, he would delight in trying to trick Senshi into being his friend. He thought he was the master of using people to get what he wanted, and that he was untouchable. But he ended up really making friends with the white moon, and it eventually led him to wanting to join them.
"My name is Merlinite. I'm a Negaverse General. Well. I would be, if I hadn't been turned into... you know. This. I'm a youma now, I guess. Half of one. But I don't want to hurt you. I was corrupted this way because I wanted to join the White Moon and be a knight, like you guys."
That was the abridged version, anyway.

Hyperborea got to a siting position. As she heard Merlinite's story her anger and turned to sympathy for the poor man. She realized this must have been a misunderstanding on her part, clearly this guy wasn't a killer.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you, poor thing. Isn't there any way you can purify still." She said tears starting to fill her eyes. "I'm so sorry I attacked you. I shouldn't have assumed you were the culprit." She said as she made her way over to him and gave him an apologetic hug.
She then remembered where they were and with her anger gone she was only left with a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. "Um can we go somewhere else to talk though."

"I don't know if there is or not. I'm going to... try to figure that out, I guess. I don't have anything else to do, anyway." He might as well focus on purifying, since he could not go back to work for the Negaverse, and most of the White Moon would just react to him like she did.
Not well.
"But I don't blame you for attacking me. This looks... pretty bad. Yeah, let's go somewhere else. I don't like being here, either." He did his best to clean his claws, grimacing as he moved away from the dead senshi and civilian. Whoever they were, they were gone now, and there was nothing more either he or the page could do.
One day, someone would stop Painite, but for tonight, she got away with it.
He was surprised that Hyperborea hugged him, though. She seemed so sweet, it was hard to think that, once upon a time, he would have hurt her just for the sake of it. He didn't like that feeling.
"You must be new to all this, huh?"

"I guess I'm still new, definitely new to people being half youma." She paused for a moment and shuddered "And new to that." She said motioning to the bodies behind them.
As she looked at Merlinite she couldn't help but fear for Astro, had she managed to purify or had she been caught and turned into a half youma as well. She shuddered. How many other Negaverse agents who wanted to purify met Merlinite's fate, she made a vow that she would try to find agents who wanted to purify and protect them. "For what ever its worth I promise I'll ask around and try to find a way for you to purify."
"So do you have any idea who did do that?" Hyperborea wanted to try to find the real culprit so that no one else had to die.

"Yeah, I don't think anyone gets used to that," Merlinite said, shaking his head slowly. He wasn't even used to seeing dead bodies and things, and he had certainly seen his fair share. Painite actually killed plenty of folks when he was around, and he had not exactly been guilt free, though he never murdered anything like she did.
"Hey that's a really nice offer. I mean. You don't have to. I don't want you to get in trouble for knowing me, and saying my name around the wrong Nega could... probably get you pretty hurt."
He knew that Painite would hurt her something terrible, just to find out where Merlinite was.
"I do know who did that. Same person that did this to me. Her name is Painite, and don't mess with her. She's pretty crazy. But she's looking for me, and I guess she got bored while doing it, so she... did her usual thing. She has a lot of fun hurting people, and killing the white moon."

"Don't worry I'm not afraid of getting on some nega's bad side. After all if they get angry at me because I'm trying to help someone, their not some who's good side I want to be on." She said matter of factly.
When he said the name, Hyperborea felt her anger returning "Of course it'd be her, I should have guessed as much. Damn, I have to get strong enough to stop her." Hyperborea knew it would be futile to try to track the general on her own right now, she needed to be stronger. "I don't understand why does she have to be like this, why does she have to hurt people. I'm sorry she did that too you."

"You've already met her, huh? That's good and bad, I guess. At least you know what she's like. She's like that because she's crazy, mostly, but also because she's been so twisted by Chaos."
He paused for a little while, looking down at his claws and flexing them closed, then opening them slowly. He shook his head as he considered himself, then looked up at Hyperborea with a sad look on his face.
"I'm worried that's going to happen to me now."
His starseed was messed up from the Chaos it took to transform him, he knew that much. He just didn't know what that meant for him, or how deeply it would effect him. What would he become? Could he ever be human again?
He didn't think so, but he was trying to tell himself there had to be a way, so he could keep going.
"Well, anyway, I'm sure you have other things to focus on than a sad youma. You were patrolling right? Maybe I could walk around with you... do some good?"

Hyperborea turned to look Merlinite in the eye, and she placed her hands on his shoulder. "I swear to you, I will do everything in my power to help you purify. You won't become like Painite, not if I can do anything to stop it." She said to the man, though deep down inside she doubted she could actually find a way to purify him. Ida had said Youma were so corrupted that they couldn't be turned back to normal, so that probably meant half youma's were to far gone to be purified. But Hyperborea wouldn't give up hope, she'd search for a way and she needed Merlinite to believe he could be saved.
"I would love some company. Maybe you could tell me a bit about yourself. I mean beside the youma part. Like what kind of things do you like to do?" She said hoping to spark less depressing conversation.

Merlinite was surprised by how many people were promising to help him. He had never felt that accepted and liked in the Negaverse, and never really felt like he could believe in anyone else.
But the White Moon were all accepting of him, and multiple senshi and knights had already offered to help find a way to purify him, though he was pretty sure they all knew so far that there was no way to do so.
Still, it was nice to hear, and to see them say it with such conviction.
He smiled and moved to walk beside her, standing upright and walking on his two back feet. Which was what they were more like, these days, as he ran much faster when he used his hands as well. He tried not to be too youma-y, though, if he could help it.
"Well, I'm not sure what I like to do now. I used to like to, you know, go to work and be a normal human. Now I guess... climbing buildings is pretty fun. And raiding restaurants and stuff when they throw out the food they had for that day. It's kind of hard to find interesting things to do, I guess, right now. Maybe I'll take up reading..."
It would give him a good excuse to go to the library, and finally talk to Camelot, like he had been telling himself he would do.
