Okay. Run this through one more time. Picnic basket; Check. Food; Check. Hair; check.
The shetani paced around his laid out blanket on the grass, just outside of Loka Nei forest. Today was the agreed on day, and approaching at the agreed on time. Halfway between homes, so neither had to trek far. He had all the best food. Choice seasoned deer flanks, a delicious wild salad with nuts, and fresh chopped fruit with powdered sugar for dessert. He hated to say it, but it was his first date. His first real date. To say he was nervous was an understatement.
This was Flutterby after all. After connecting with her with the trip to his Tree, it was all he could do to stammer out for her to meet him. Hopefully her sister wouldn't mind. After all, it wasn't like him and Rosewater were an actual thing. Yet. Or ever. He never knew with that hybrid.

Flutterby was almost making herself miserable, stressing about how this date thing was supposed to go. She'd had a lot of fun on their trip to the tree, even if he'd had to wait outside while her and her mom went inside. Well, he was still a sweet guy, and this was her first date.
What did pae do on a date? She blinked, looking around for wherever it was she was supposed to be meeting Hemi. She had to be close, it'd been a distance already. But then, she knew better. She was probably just stressing herself out even more thinking about it. And Rose hadn't seen her leave the house, which was a miracle. That meant she' get to wait to get teased until after it had happened and Rose noticed that she'd been gone for a while! Always a bonus! Keeping that as one of the few positive thoughts she had, Flutterby kept walking until she spotted just a little bit of water.
She did take after her mom sometimes, and this was one of those moments. Flutterby paused to make sure her hair was perfect. She wanted to look good for whatever was in store. Deciding that it was as good as she was going to get, Flutter moved along, reaching the edge of the Loka Nei in next to no time at all.
"H-h-hemi?" She stuttered, looking for the hybrid that would accompany her for the rest of the day.

Hemi? A sweet voice touched his ears. She was here! The male stiffened before shoving his hands through his hair to comb out any lingering knots from his travel. She was here, she was here, she was here! He took a deep breath to steady himself before jogging towards the voice. "Over here, Flutterby!" He called as he bounced out of the treeline. And there she was. Her tail was smaller than he recalled, and she seemed...curvier. Very curvy.
He liked.
"Whoa...You look beautiful." Her hair looked so soft. Like cotton candy. "I...um...I...have lunch...over here." He was as bad with words as Flutterby now!

Flutterby squeaked, hearing Hemi call her over. At least she didn't have to worry about getting even more lost than she thought she was. Just as surely as he had noticed the changes that had been taking place in her body, she had noticed the ones in his. His hair for one, was flowing and fabulous. If not for her own poof of gorgeous locks, Flutterby would have been jealous.
But he'd filled out a little since they last saw one another. She could hardly believe it! Just as unbelievable as her tail growing smaller and smaller.
She blushed deep when he complimented her, only to giggle when the male stumbled over his words. He hadn't had a problem in the past, at least not too much. He couldn't have been making fun of her, could he? "Th-tha-thank yo-you! Yo-you lo-l-look go-good too" She grinned, letting his fumbling slide. Now to tackle another thought. That meal he'd prepared smelled amazing. He needed to know that, even if she wasn't capable of really saying aloud. At least, not properly. "It s-sm-sm-smells amaz-z-zing!" Flutterby stammered, proud of herself for making the challenge to talk more often.

What was wrong with him? Chicks dug confidence! It was a wonder how his father ever managed to get his mom, what with his shyness. He took a deep breath before flashing a boyish smile. "You're too sweet Flutterby, thank you." With that he held out his hand to guide her to his little picnic. "I made the blanket myself actually. Took around three hides stitched together. And I personally got and made everything here." Was he trying to hard to impress her? Naaaah.

"Re-re-really?" She squeaked, she couldn't believe he'd made everything there! Flutterby was humbled, feeling a little out of place. He'd made everything they were about to enjoy and she'd brought... Well nothing but herself. That seemed a little backwards didn't it? What was wrong with her? Was it because she hadn't told anyone about this? She should have known to bring something so he wasn't forced to do all of this!
"It lo-lo-looks wa-w-w-warm!" Flutterby was at least excited to try the blanket out. And would likely restrain herself from eating too much. Even if he had done all that for her.

He puffed his chest out slightly as he nodded. "Worth it for you Flutterby. I hope you're hungry!" Just as he was about to let go of her hand, he quickly had a side thought and lifted it to his lips to give the back of it a small peck. As a blush spread across his face then, he let go and sat down on the blanket.
"The deer was hunted just yesterday, so it's all very fresh." Hemi spoke as he dug in the basket to produce two thin stone plates. "I didn't know if fish would be...uh...bad. To get. So I though deer was safe." The shetani didn't know much about naiads, but they looked part fish, so perhaps eating them was taboo? He was just going on the seat of his bum with this one.

Flutterby squeaked, blushing herself when Hemi kissed her hand. He was a gentleman! She nodded to his sort of question about her hunger. Flutter figured the less she had to attempt to spit out words, the better. Her stutter was already embarassing enough without making it any worse by being nervous about her first date.
"Fi-f-f-fish is o-o-okay." She nodded again, sitting next to him on the blanket. It only took her a moment of wiggling to get everything comfortable, mostly in the sense of not sitting on her tail. "D-de-de-deer is g-g-good t-t-too~" Flutter smiled, glad he was trying to be considerate of her being part of the waters.

Hemi carefully tucked away the information about eating fish. From the little he learned about girls, he knew they liked being genuinely listened to. It wouldn't do well for him to forget fish was okay to eat after her specifically telling him otherwise. He slipped a juicy slab of meat onto each plate before handing it over to the melting pot of elemental pae. "Good, good." Poor thing was still stuttering. Was she not used to him yet? "So...have you always had that cute stutter?" It really was cute, but she didn't seem to quite like it herself.

Flutterby frowned, shaking her head. she remembered a time when she was able to speak normally. A very long time ago, when her sister only scared her a little instead of making her want to run and hide every time like the little girl she was. It was times like this she hated that she'd developed it. It had only caused more harm than it did anything good. How could anyone think it was cute?
"N-n-no. And it s-s-s-sucks t-t-too." She looked away from him, blushing from embarrassment. It took her so much effort to form a proper sentence because of the stupid stutter, Flutterby had no idea why he'd feel attracted to it.

She was even cuter when she blushed! So completely different from her serious sister Rosewater. "I kind of like it. It makes you, you. And you should never be ashamed of who you are." He flashed a bit of a smile before biting into his meat. Probably should have brought utensils.
Nahh. Too fancy.

Flutterby blushed a bit more when he complimented her. That was so rare she wasn't sure hot to act! The femme squeaked, nodding to his comment. She couldn't think of how to respond to it. Oh Guardians!
But what next? Oh, he was chewing. She blinked, picking up the meat he'd handed her and started to tear into it in a similar manner. She'd never been without the luxury of utensils. Mostly, Flutterby wound up making a mess of her plate. Oh gross. It was dripping too!
With a shudder, Flutter set down the plate and promptly ignored it. It wasn't that it was nasty, it was just gross. Super nasty icky gross. The capricorn wanted nothing to do with something that nasty looking. Maybe she could pretend to pick at it or something to make sure he didn't feel bad about it.
"D-d-do you d-d-do a-a-all of yo-y-your o-w-wn hu-hu-hunting?" She asked, trying not to think of the plate next to her.

Even her squeaks were adorable! He nodded proudly at her question. "I do! My granddad likes to live a minimalistic lifestyle. Everything we have and use is made by our own hands." It was something he hated growing up, but now that he was an adult he had gained an appreciation for it. He was tougher and smarter for it.
His blue eyes flicked over to her meat as he took another bite of his own. She was barely touching it, despite saying that she was hungry. The male frowned, but waited until chewing and swallowing before speaking. "Is something wrong with yours?"

Flutter smiled, "Th-th-that m-must be a lot to l-l-l-learn!" If he was good at doing things with his hands, he must have had a lot of practice. It must have been really hard when he was younger.
And then he mentioned her not really eating the dripping plate of meat next to her. Oh of all the things, she really didn't want to answer that one. Blushing, she looked from the plate over to her date. "N-no?" She tried to smile, trying not to think about the bloody slab. "It's tasty." Maybe she could tell him she wasn't as hungry as she thought she'd been? Good lord how could she have possibly dug herself any deeper into that hole?

He nodded to exclamation of the amount of information gleaned from living off the land. "If anything were to ever happen, I could take care of myself. At least, that's what my granddads reasoning was." He chuckled lightly before watching her reaction to the deer.
Before she had said she was hungry, and that deer was okay.
Was he a bad cook? "I tried to use spices, but we're all males so..." None of them particularly liked the cooking aspect, just the hunting. How had he managed to screw up his date with only a half an hour into it? "W-wait! I was saving it for dessert but..." He reached back into his pack and pulled out a bowl of fruit. Slices of apple, mango, bananas and an array of berries. "I didn't cook these, so there's no way I could mess them up."
