The courtyard is a beautiful, grand place. When it's sunny, the fountain gurgles happily and Merlin's Oak's features are lit up. When it's rainy, the fountain is pocked with holes and students often sprint to get to their classes as dry as possible. When it's snowy, the fountain freezes up and Merlin's Oak sags a bit under the snow's weight. Benches dot the area in strategically aesthetic places.

The courtyard is where all four sections of the campus meet. From here there are clearly marked paths leading to the living quarters, the school, the practice fields, and the extra quarters. The Academy was laid out in such a way to keep people from getting lost as often as possible, but it still happens in a campus this large.

This place is the starting place of the Academy, a place where adventures begin and end. It's rumored, though, that there's an entrance to the Catacombs if you find the secret to turning the fountain off...

Welcome to the Courtyard!

At the moment, a massive crater has opened up barely a few meters from the fountain. It has been sectioned off with a magical barrier. Miraculously, the Oak is unscathed.

The Headmaster is waiting for you under the Oak, along with the rest of the staff body. You'd better hurry.

Shanta pushed her carpet from the direction of the main building, moving rather slowly under its load of five or six heavy-looking books. She finally came to a stop next to the fountain, letting the carpet slowly sink to the ground. She frowned and glanced around, but unfortunately her view was... somewhat limited. "Wonder if I'll find him," she muttered as she cracked open one of the books and set to reading.

Averill Hammershod

Averill, having been turned blue/purple from the fountains wonderful liquid, decided that the rest of the school probably needed a bit of blue-ing up too. He dipped his hands into the water of the fountain, holding his little plastic watergun until no more bubbles came out.

"Excellent" He giggled to himself excitedly, feeling extremely lighthearted and happy for no particular reason.
Surely the teachers would clean it up, if it were dangerous. First year students who didn't have any magic knowledge certainly wouldn't be expected to do anything about it- and there hadn't even been a bulleiting saying not to touch it- had there?

He laughed and scampered off, squirting droplets of spreading blue around the school.
First stop, the dorms of the blue house. It would be fitting, right?

Grunting and slightly sweating as he walked, Blake could be seen carrying a giant bag on his back and dragging a smaller bag behind him. "I swear first thing I need to learn at this pace is telekinetic magic, that would come in handy," he thought to himself as he made his way in the general direction of the Lucian building. He kept walking, following the instructions the teacher had given him after 2 hours of searching. This school was huge, and Blake was not liking it so far. He made his way to the courtyard and duped his bag onto a nearby bench. Slouching on the bench he slowly looked up to see some kid spraying everything blue and another transporting....stuff on a floating carpet. "You are kidding me right?" Blake said more to himself as he got up. He approached the girl leaving is bags on the bench and walked up to her slowly. "Um hi there, I was wondering where you got that carpet? I am also doing heavy lifting and it would help alot if I could use one of those if anyone could use one," He said. Trying to stay polite and seem nice so he did not anger or upset her. That would not end well and he did not like angering others.

Shanta looked up. She was tired, upset, and still freakin' blue. She wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone, but it'd probably be rude if she ignored him. So she shut the book she was holding. "It was a birthday present when I was nine," she said. "They're pretty difficult to master riding, so I wouldn't recommend getting one if you're only going to use it as a... valet service." Was that too rude? Nah. Probably not. Rude or not, Shanta was too tired to care. Wondering if he'd get the hint, Shanta opened her book again.

Nodding after the girl spoke Blake knew it was a long shot at best. "Alright, thankyou anyway," he said. He could see she probably wanted to be alone, holding his hand out he thought he best introduce himself and be off. "Well I am Blake Costerdane," he said. He did not like first time meets as first impressions were everything. But it had to be done otherwise he would be lonely and that was not going to bode well in the future.

After his confrontation he walked over to his stuff to make sure everything was ok and he had not lost anything. He wondered if that boy over there was in the same house as him, since his house was apparently for pranksters. Blake had never pranked anyone, sounded like fun and scary at the same time.

Din was making eir way up the blue water trail when ey arrived at the courtyard. Din was simply curious as to how everything started turning blue and- hey -why not indulge that curiosity. There wasn't much else to do before classes started anyway. Upon arrival, Din noticed that ey probably found the source of the mess. The whole area was blue! Including one of the two students in the area. Ey recognised the blue student as Shanta, a elf in eir year. She would probably know what happened. Din approached.

Shanta was probably the only person that Din had met so far that ey didn't have to strain eir neck to look up at, what with the sitting on a carpet and all. "Hello. What happened?" Din asked bluntly. Maybe it was rude to straight out ask the question- without context and interrupting the elf's reading -but Din had realised long ago that niceties didn't help one solve mysteries.

Also, just assuming here, Averill probably sprayed fountain water EVERYWHERE around here, right?
So the whole place WOULD be blue around the fountain.

Someone was interrupting her again? Shanta slammed her book shut more sharply than she meant and looked up. It was a small kid, dark-skinned, sturdily built. They looked familiar, but Shanta couldn't place a name, or, for that matter, a gender. She would have to tread carefully here. "Long story short, I fell into the wrong dimension and some flowers turned me blue," she summarized, pointing to the flower crown on her head. "Don't... er, don't touch it. You'll turn blue too." Hey, that was kind of a joke! Shanta half smiled. "What's your name, by the way? You look familiar. I'm Shanta." She raised her voice here to make sure that Blake kid could hear her. It was sort of rude to ignore him, after all.

Her legs were going to fall off if she didn't reach that bench. Maybe not eating breakfast was the smartest idea before she left. Carrmin's house was far into the forest, and the lack of food she had over the last few days was finally catching up to her. Hopefully Din and Gage left her some food in the Tomas Commons.

Reaching the bench, she lay down on it almost immediately, face down. Exhausted. Her stomach rumbled and she groaned under her breath. A quick rest here wouldn't be too bad, right? Tonight she'd be in the comfort of her own bed in the dorms, and she'd likely skip class tomorrow to go talk to the Headmaster about what had happened. Unless Naomi got to it first.

'For ******** sake if I'm listed as 'missing'...' she thought, sighing. Aerykah secretly hoped that someone, someone, would come by the Courtyard and help her to the dorms, or the mess hall or something. She was out of uniform, covered in leaves, twigs, and a few bleeding scratches from her journey. One adventure she'd never take again.

Shanta fiddled with her wand. It hadn't been working properly lately, and she didn't know why. Was it because of mystic class? Was she losing her ability to use channelers already? She didn't know. But with Vivian and Aerykah's disappearance, the feeling that trouble was coming wouldn't go away, and she couldn't be much help if she couldn't use her stupid wand.

Shanta was worried about the two Tomases, no doubt. Aerykah and Vivian had vanished long enough that they could be considered missing. Muttering concerns in Elvish and shaking her wand, Shanta sailed right past Aerykah and went another twenty feet before stopping, spinning a hundred and eighty degrees, and zipping right back over to the bench. "Aerykah!?" she demanded. "Where have you been? End, Muna and I went looking for you and Vivian the other day and we couldn't find you!" Well, they found a couple trees that had been afflicted by taint, and a mysterious... thing in the distance, but that wasn't important.

Aerykah knew it was Shanta by the sound of the carpet floating in the air. Well, that wasn't the end of the world. Shanta would likely give her trou- oh, look there it started.
Lazily raising her hand to stop Shanta from talking, Aerykah sighed again.

"I'm fine... Tired, hungry, and a little scratched... and sans Vivian..." she mumbled, "Food, get me some."

She needed energy first, then she'd talk.

"Food, right, I'll be right back!" Shanta pulled down her goggles and zipped away, coming back a few minutes later with a grilled cheese, a thermos of tea, and one of those magic plates from the kitchen. "The cooks are really nice," she said by way of explanation, setting the food down on the bench next to Aerykah and floating down to eye level. "I don't know if you'll eat this grilled cheese stuff the white kids here all seem to like, so I brought one of the plates that comes up with whatever you want too, and some black tea too. Are you okay? You look awful." Actually, she said something other than awful, but the debarrier couldn't translate it.

Bubbling over with questions though she was, Shanta knew that anyone that was stuck overnight in the forest for nearly three days needed energy. So she sat and waited, figuring that Aerykah would predict the questions she wanted to ask anyway. Namely, how did she survive? Where was Vivian? Did she know where Vivian was? Was she aware that she came this close to being declared missing?

⊰aerykah - sampson⊱
Smiling appreciatively and sitting up took what was left. Shanta got her one of her favourites, actually; grilled cheese. Back in New York State, there was a quaint little hipstery grilled cheese place she frequented, and often enjoyed both the pizza flavoured one, and the mac-n-cheese. Aerykah shoved half the sandwich into her mouth and chewed eagerly.

"Twhan-khh ya"she muttered with her mouth full, knowing it was a tad on the rude side. She didn't care - real food was a hell of a lot better than the nuts and berries that the forest offered. Once she swallowed, she took a sip of her tea and squished her face in. Bitter, but warm.

Now finally acknowledging Shanta's comments, she nodded. And decided to answer all of the questions in one, longer, blurb:

"Okay so... I'm not the best. Obviously getting stuck in the forest for three days sucks a**. I know I could have gone missing, but it seems that nobody talked to Carrmin. We spent the second day looking for Vivian with no luck... She's gone, Vivian's gone... I have this gut feeling she's still alive though, which seems to be the only relief right now... I stayed with Carrmin, I found his place around midnight. He tried his best to feed me, and I tried to cook for him with really no meeting in the middle. He's really picky..." she said, slowly. Biting her lip, Aerykah glanced away.

She now wanted her pyjamas and bed, and maybe even a story from Gage would help again.

Ella brain had started pounding from the amount of studying she had done. Kili had already left, and not wanting to follow like a lost puppy, Ella decided to explore campus on her own. She found the courtyard with ease. The great tree of Merlin stood strong in the middle and Ella gaped in awe, now understanding it's true importance due to her studies.

She found a nearby bench to sit and relax, to take in the sights after a long day of study in the dorms. It felt good to get outside with the fresh air. Ella hadn't tried any of the spells she had learned yet. She didn't have a channeler, and she was honestly a bit wary of her ability to preform something so other-worldly to her.
