Info: Kusagakure (Kusagakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Grass") is located in a thus far unnamed country.
Because it had Genin participating in the Chuunin exams organised by Konohagakure, it can be assumed the two villages are allied. Although it has never been named, the country Kusagakure is located in has been shown on several occasions. The country is rich with forests, some consisting of giant mushrooms or bamboo. It also seems to have many rivers and deep ravines.

Info: Amegakure (Amegakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in Rain") is a small, yet highly industrialized hidden village located in an unnamed country. A number of smaller villages also surround Amegakure. As its name suggests, it rains almost constantly due to a storm above the village. Many shinobi from this village seem to wear a kind of mask that allows them to breathe underwater.

Info: Yugakure (Yugakure no Sato; Literally Meaning "Village Hidden in Hot Water") is the village that the Akatsuki member Hidan originated from.
It lies in Land of Hot Water. Once a ninja village, Yugakure decided that it didn't want to stay a hidden village and transitioned out into a peaceful and prosperous village instead. However, Hidan, growing up, already showed a tendency toward violent Jashinist ways, disagreed with this and slaughtered his neighbors before leaving the village.

Info: Otogakure (Otogakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in Sound"), called Oto for short, was Orochimaru's personal village, founded for the express purpose of collecting ninja for his experiments and his quest to learn all jutsu. The Rice Field country is marked by forests and rice fields. The country had been marked by conflict in the past, with wars with neighboring countries taking a heavy toll on its clans like the Fuuma. In actuality, Oto is not really a village, but a group of hideouts and bases scattered throughout the Land of Sound and other countries.

The River country lies between two of the main shinobi powers, the Fire and Wind countries. To the north the country is bordered by the Rain Country. The country is marked by mountains, forests and rivers. Akatsuki chose to make the country one of their bases of operation. They took Gaara here after they defeated him at Hidden Sand.

Info: The Land of Frost (Shimo no Kuni) is located in between the Lands of Hot Water and Lightning. The Frost Daimyo and his people evacuate the country during the Fourth Shinobi World War. It contains the ninja village Shimogakure. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, the villagers were relocated to Konohagakure because it was predicted that the area might become the site of heavy fighting during the war. Shimogakure (Shimogakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in Frost") is the hidden village located in the Land of Frost.

Info: The Jomae Village (Jomae no Sato; Literally meaning "Lock Village") is a village located in the Land of Keys. This village's ninja are experts in espionage in order to gain information for negotiations with larger, more powerful nations. Lock Village is known for their espionage and spying activities. They rely on their ninja to infiltrate enemy villages and obtain knowledge which they can exploit. Some of their ninja are never allowed within Joumae, to keep their spies from revealing village intel if caught.

Info: The Mountain country is one of the few countries in the world which harbored a shinobi village. The exact location of the Mountain Country is unknown but it is marked by mountainous terrain. For a period of time it harbored Kagerou no Sato. After a protracted war with Konoha thirty years previously, the village was weakened. Though they made peace with Konoha, ninja from the Valley Country swooped in to wipe out the weakened Hidden Village and its ninja. At present it appears no other village was ever established. Heat Haze was a lower shinobi village. The village became involved in a protracted war with Konoha thirty years previously. For three months there was a stalemate. During this period Kagerou Village dispatched Gennou to infiltrate Konoha and lay explosive tags throughout the village. He toiled in Konoha for two and half months waiting on his comrades, they never came. After eventually finalizing a peace treaty with Konoha, the weakened village was wiped out by Hidden Valley Village.

Info: Yukigakure (Yukigakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Snow") is located in the Land of Snow and featured in the first Naruto movie. Its ninja apparently specialize in manipulating preexisting ice.
The Snow country was a small and peaceful country constantly experiencing winter. It went through a period of hardtimes until the weather control generator was activated, allowing the country to finally experience Spring. The country had been on economic hard times for several years. Daimyou Kazahana Sousetsu was said to have nearly bankrupted the country putting money into the heating generator machinery. Later when his brother Dotou came to power, the country expended even more funds in weaponry development. After the removal of Daimyo Kazahana Dotou, his niece Kazahana Koyuki rose to power and the country began to flourish once again. The usage of the generator appears to have warmed the valleys of the country, allowing them to experience warmer climates. The surrounding mountains still retain snow however.

Info: Hoshigakure (Hoshigakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden Among Stars") was introduced during the Hoshigakure filler arc. It is located in the Land of Bears, and is one of the lesser-known Shinobi Villages in the Naruto Universe. Hoshigakure was formed sometime after a strange meteorite, which the inhabitants called the "star," struck its location 200 years earlier. No trees or plants could grow around the vicinity after it landed.

Info: Getsugakure (Getsugakure no Sato; literally "Village Hidden under the Moon") is a hidden village in the Land of the Moon. A shinobi from this village briefly appears during the Chuunin Exams. The Moon Country is located in a southern sea and includes Crescent Moon Island. The country draws its name from the shape of the island itself. Due to its location, the country experiences mild weather and a constant summer state. This helped it become a popular tourist retreat along with its entertainment and gambling establishments. At one point the country hired wandering ninja; however it currently maintains no ninja village. A ninja has been shown to wear a headband bearing a crescent moon, but no direct connection to this island has been made as of yet.
