Klue ran through the thick underbrush, trees and life has been growing strongly for twenty or so years. Her large white ears twitched as she heard the muffles of a rabbit somewhere close by. Crouching down low she snuck up on the prey and jumped, quickly catching it between her strong jaws and killing it. Happy with herself she ate her food, she had left her mother to venture on her own. Life was great so she wasn't scared of anything attacking her.

Salt huddled near by behind the brush. He knew the wolf would notice him there but he would still try to deceive her. His mind held tightly to himself as his projected the images of what he wanted to be seen to her. It had been close to two years sense he had been in these lands. Would any of the pack even remember him? Would his own mother and father remember him? He would just have to wait and find out. Slowly he stepped through the bushes, to her eyes she might see Rail. While in exile Salt had learned a lot from their grandfather before he passed away. Now it was his turn to lead the pack. His father had grown old and weak, he was in no condition to lead a pack like theirs. Salt smirked as he wondered if the spell worked or not on her. Even if it didn't, would she even remember him?

Klue heard the rustling steps even before the wolf approached her, turning to face the wolf she saw a familiar form. For a second she actually thought it was her grandfather Rail, until the heaviness of the steps didn't match. Growling she looked at the trespasser and focused on him, invading his mind. This wolf had a strong mind so her mental attack wouldn't be as strong, but it would still make him lose his concentration so she could see who the real wolf is. Focusing on his front right leg she made him think that it was snapping in multiple places, though it might not feel like that to him, more like a pinch because of his mind attack.

Salt stepped forward slowly again. His front leg went numb, no it just felt like it wasn't there. His eyes flicked down to check before locking back onto her. He wasn't able to walk any farther for fear he would fall over. Lowering his head a little to her in a glare "Granddad never was able to completely block out the metal powers of his mate." His tone was lower, more anger than joke when he added "but I've proven to be better." The mental webbing of image had begun to slowly fade out when he took notice of the numbing leg. He noted to himself that he still had to practice more, even the sense of a numb leg could be the death of him when he took on his father for leadership. Unlike himself their father had inherited powers from both Rail and Ember, he quickly wiped the thought from his head. His focus back on Klue. Muscles tensed for the possible attack but he kept his heart rate low and steady as he didn't want to fight her.

Klue stopped her mental attack on him, "No, he wasn't, but mine is much stronger than hers." She watched as the image went away and she now saw a whitish colored wolf with no tail. As she looked at him she thought hyena and smiled slightly. "If you didn't want to fight in the first place, why bother making yourself look like someone else? Plus, if your going to make yourself look like someone else, then they at least have to have the same weight as you." Grumbling a little. Sitting down, now knowing the wolf was no threat to her, and to find out that he is kin to her. Her mother was his fathers sister, though she didn't exactly inherit their powers like her brother, but she did inherit most of Rails looks. "So what are you doing all the way out here?"

Salt sat with a sense of self-glory that sickened even Rail. Salt eyed the female like she was unworthy of being so close to him. He looked around them to confirm no one else was near. "My father has exiled me from the pack. Now with grandfather and his mate passed away I have no where else to go. I recalled this area as a young pup, my father bringing me to visit his sister's pups." He spoke with an arrogance of being better than everyone else. Emberine YinYang i fixed it from brother's pups to sister's

Klue frowned at the wolf, he was full of himself. Now that she was out of protective mode she became very happy and likeable...though she had the feeling this would be something that would annoy him a lot. "Oh, so you used to come around here?" She tried to recall her thoughts of her puppyhood, and ever seeing a no-tailed wolf like him when she was a pup.

The grump of a wolf managed to pull a smile across his maw. "Yes, but that was a long time ago." He relaxed just a little, still unsure of her. "What is your name? If i may ask." his speech fell back into the snoty-betterthanyou tone.

Klue sort of yipped happily as she rolled around on her back, "My name is Klue, and what is yours?" Her enormously large ears twitching a little as she heard some unsteady footsteps coming their way. Stopping she rolled over and looked around, until she pin pointed where it was coming from. A foul stench crossed her nose and she growled, she had only smelled this scent one other time when she was a pup, and her grandmother took care of the beast. "Altered." Klue muttered under her breath as she stood up. (If you wish to play as the altered you can, its a free character.)

Salt watched her with uncertainty. Some small spark inside him lit, like an unknown need had been realized. He shook the strange feeling off and stood up. As he did she said something low and stood as well. "What?" He hadn't heard her clearly and figured it was nothing important. With a quick fluff of his chest he stood with a royal stance "My name is Salt, grandson of Rail and Ember. I have trained all my life to live up to Rail and take lead of my own pack." Arrogance rolling off the words. Ignoring what she said was a bad idea, but he didn't realize it until a nasty stench flooded his nose. Curling his lips and lowered his body into a defense pose. "What is that?" She had seemed to be more alert of the presence, maybe she knew what it was.

Klue growled, she was back into her fighting position as the altered was now nearby. Suddenly a large paw came into view and she instantly attacked at it. It was already stupid enough so she could easily break a leg or two on the altered cat as it fully stepped out. As soon as it saw Klue it ran towards her unknowing of what's going on with its front legs, until she put all of her mind force on them and the bones snapped, causing the altered to cripple. It let out a sickening yowl and it crumpled right in front of her, it's jaws trying to snap at her but she jumped back from it. Looking at Salt she grinned, "It's called an altered, don't let their blood get in your jaws or else you will turn into one of them. And it's nice to meet you Salt, I am the grand-daughter of Ember and Rail also, my mother is Inai, your fathers sister." It's back legs were still working and the cat altered pushed itself towards her slowly, still trying to sink it's teeth into her.

Salt froze in fright. He had never encountered something like this, he didn't know what to do. When the monster went to attack Klue some basic instinct kicked in. He threw his weight into the beast to knock it off balance, thankfully Klue had already disabled it. Growling he snapped at the face before remembering her warning 'don't let their blood get in your jaws'. He nodded to himself and turned his head to drive the small horns above his eyes into the creature's own eyes. It screeched in pain and jerked back from him. "How do we kill it if we can't bite it?" Salt called out unsure what his next move should be. With his mind spinning looking for answers to unknown question his form started to change. An image close to the cat type slowly took over. He didn't know this was happening but the creature stilled and looked at him, like it was waiting on him. With their eyes locked he didn't dare look to Klue, maybe she would be able to slip away and be safe. [kinda like a more advanced version of Rail's ability to control the altered]

Klue smiled as Salt knocked the beast more off balance, but she almost shouted when he began to snap at it, until his head moved and he rammed the altered with the horns on his head. She winced as she heard it screech in pain, the noise was loud and hurt her overly sensitive ears. When Salt shouted her her she growled, it hurt her ears a lot, "You don't need to shout, I can hear you per-" Her voice cut off as the no-tailed wolf's body began to change, it was beginning to look like the cat. Soon realizing that he was using the mind technique he had used on her earlier, she smiled thinking to his mind. It thinks you're one of them...well either that or it's just as stunned as I am.

"I'm going to try and get it to leave the area," he spoke slowly and extremely quiet. He figured she would hear him. Slowly he took a step to the side, away from Klue. If he could lead it away maybe they wouldn't have to spill blood today. The beast whined in pain from it's broken leg but fallowed. He couldn't smell the pack territory anymore and hoped he didn't just sign his death note. He looked again at the creature and sent a hard thought to it, Keep walking, never stop walking, just keep going until your last breath. He pushed the thought over and over to it until finally it stood and moved past him. It struggled but never turned or looked back. Scared for his life he severed the metal line and ran as fast as he could the other way.
