"Or you might have tried looking for the school and could have become even more lost than you are now," Zjarrmi pointed out, slightly amused by the surly attitude. Zjarrmi led Neil back the way she had come with a minimal of talking. His prickly personality wasn't really conducive to conversation--not that she blamed him, of course. Being dropped in the middle of no where was probably irritating.

Even when the school was finally in sight, she continued to lead him up to the front gate. "This is it," she told him. "...obviously. Would you like me to show you to the dorms? Or was there somewhere else you wanted to go first? I'm fairly new here so I don't know where everything is but I did at least some exploring earlier..."

Neil Moynihan

Neil shrugged off Zjarrmi's response. There wasn't really a point to disagreeing with her sentiments. Taking the time to attempt to make up some sort of explanation about having a "really good sense of direction" or alluding to any possible "special skills" that might prevent such a situation from happening seemed unnecessarily boastful, arrogant, and unrealistic. The fact that he personally believed the chances of him getting even more lost seemed fairly slim, due in part to his confidence in having some semblance of mental prowess, was really irrelevant, and honestly, would make him sound like a tool if spoken aloud. Besides, it wasn't like she had said it in an unkind way. What did he have to prove? It would be much better for him, his companion, and society in general, to just keep any stupid comments to himself.

The walk from the orchard to the school was mercifully quiet. Zjarrmi seemed to have picked up on Neil's whole "I am REALLY not in the mood to have conversations" disposition, and he was silently grateful for this fact. He slipped into his own little world as they walked, his mind wandering as a mind will given an extended silence and a long enough span of time with little stimulation. He barely noticed that the pair had reached the school (a facility with which he was very adamantly unimpressed) until his travelling companion (a term he currently preferred to "friend", having long since forgotten how to pronounce her name) pointed it out to him. He was slightly taken aback by her offer to show him around. Was she just being polite? Or was she really unobservant? As she didn't seem to be the latter (there was no way anyone couldn't have noticed Neil's current level of "so totally not amused") He went with the first one, her politeness dredging up a semblance of civility in his response.

"Nah, I'll figure out where everything else is later. I'd appreciate if you showed me the dorms though. It'll save me the trouble of having to look for them. I mean, there's probably tons of signs and junk that'll make it super easy to find, but why do more work than I have to?" It was a joke, but Neil wasn't exactly known for his sense of humor... or even his ability to make facial expressions for that matter.

"Actually, there aren't a lot of signs," Zjarrmi said, shrugging. "When I arrived with my...family...we had a difficult time finding it since there's a decided lack of labels." She stumbled over the word family a bit, having a moment's indecision what to call them. Somehow, it didn't feel right to call them her parents since they weren't, really. And 'guardians' seemed so impersonal (and tended to raise eyebrows). But foster parents seemed weirdly specific. Family, she supposed, was nice and neutral.

"At any rate, the dorms are this way." She started leading the way, sneaking a look at Niel. He wasn't exactly radiating vibes of friendliness, which made her hesitant to talk to him. While she didn't really worry about being snapped at, it seemed rude to bother him with dialogue when she was under the clear impression he wasn't interested in it. So she simply walked along side him quietly, listening to the soft sound of her feet padding against the sidewalk.

Since there was no talking, she was acutely aware of the sounds around them--pretty normal sounds for a quiet afternoon. And yet, there was something strangely nostalgic about this situation. Not that there shouldn't be a measure of familiarity with the scenario of walking down a sidewalk with someone else since that was a fairly common occurrence. But there was a poignancy to the sensation that gave her a pause--for all its mundanity, the moment had the bittersweet flavor of an old memory trying to surface. Without realizing it, Zjarrmi had stopped walking, standing rooted to one spot as she stared into nothing, desperately trying to recall the full memory that was tugging at her mind. But the more she tried to recall just what it was she was being reminded of, the further it slipped away until, before she knew it, she'd been standing there blankly for sometime, staring at an undetermined point ahead of her, a look of faint confusion on her face.

((sorry for the melodrama but since Niel isn't talkative and Zjarrmi isn't inclined to bother him....it seems like if we don't orchestrate some way to force them to interact....they won't. ~_~ And since I figure anything she does is goiing to annoy him....it probably doesn't matter what I have her do. LoL))

As much as he currently hated to admit it (considering his present mood), Neil couldn't help starting to like Zjarrmi, just a little bit. This was mainly due to the fact that, unlike many other people (girls especially) that he had met and/or been forced to interact with, she seemed to understand when a person didn't want to be bothered with chit chat and small talk, which in Neil's case, was generally always. It seemed like a very long time since he had met someone who didn't feel the need to fill silences by talking at him, so it made for a bit of a refreshing change of pace. He calmly followed her as she lead him down the sidewalk, hands in his pockets, observing their surroundings. In all fairness, this place didn't look half bad. At least, it was relatively aesthetically pleasing, as far as schools go...

He noticed Zjarrmi abruptly come to a standstill with just enough time to keep himself from bumping into her from behind. "What-..." He paused, deciding from her absent stare that asking the question: "what's wrong with you" would be, at this point, a bit counter productive. It sort of looked like she had suddenly become aware of some concept that didn't make sense to her, like imaginary numbers... something like that. Whatever. Basically, she just sort of looked confused, and when a person was confused enough that they had to stop moving, there was most likely something... real stupid going on.

"Hey... You okay?" Actually, that wasn't much different from "What's wrong with you" was it? Oh well, that's what he got for trying to ask a more pointed question. He just ended up asking the same question in a more polite manner. He shoved his hands deeper into his pockets and gave Zjarrmi a slightly bored look, almost as if it were compensation for being polite. At least his voice sounded sincere... At least, he thought it did.

It took Zjarrmi a moment to realize Neil had spoken to her, and another moment to shake off the strange feeling and look at him. For a long moment, she had the strangest feeling she was looking at someone else. She stared him for several sections before slow recognition crawled through her brain and she remembered where she was and who she was with.

"Ah! Sorry!" she said quickly, her brain suddenly deciding to release her from the strange, reluctant nostalgia. "I'm sorry! I just...had a strange feeling. Sort of like Deja vu I guess? Or, you know, like when you can almost remember something but not quite? It happens a lot, sadly. Too many holes in my brain trying to get themselves filled up, I guess. But sometimes the strangest things will set it off..."

She gave him an apologetic smile as a splodge of color off to the side caught her eye--apparently there was another student lounging under the trees nearby. He didn't seem to be paying attention to them, but Zjarrmi waved nonetheless, just to be polite.

"Anyway, I'm sorry--the dorms are just right over here..."

Neil raised an eyebrow at Zjarrmi's explanation. Deja vu huh? must have been a pretty strong case to make her stop like that. At least it wasn't something serious, or rather, something he'd have to go out of his way to try and help remedy. "No problem." He said, shrugging. "I was just sort of... concerned. You stopped kind of suddenly, I thought maybe you needed winding up, like a toy robot or something." He was very suddenly aware another person nearby, some hooded stooge sitting underneath a tree. Something about him was... Very distracting, to say the least. Neil's stomach knotted and he resisted the urge to double over. That kid... The aura he was emitting.... Neil shook his head, trying to clear it. This was bad. Very bad. something about that idiot by the tree was reminding his body of what people in his trade called a "demonic" presence, and his natural defenses were kicking in. He really didn't feel like letting that happen, but in instances like these it wasn't as if he had much of a choice. He'd just have to hope that Zjarrmi would rely on first impressions about as much as he did...

Neil lifted off the ground, eyes closed, arms spread wide, A rosy glow emanating off of any exposed skin and illuminating the air around him. His clothes seemed to suddenly gain the consistency of hot wax, and began to melt as his hair grew long and began to change from dirty blonde to auburn. Before his clothing could completely melt away and leave him exposed, there was a bright flash, followed by a torrential rain of silver and green glitter. All that was now visible of him was a glowing shillouette of his body, which seemed to have suddenly gained a pliable consistency similar to that of his clothes moments earlier. His body began to stretch and shrink, become softer, more petite, and sort of just generally more curvy. The light began to fade, revealing a girl in a sparkling teal dress, black leggings, and elegant, knee high boots. Two vibrant red ribbons flew out of thin air, one wrapping around her waist and tying into a large bow on her back, and the other wrapping her now long hair into a neat ponytail. Another flash, some more glitter, and the transformation was complete. Neil gently floated down to the ground, a completely and utterly bored look on her face. God she hated glitter.

"Sorry about the mess." She said, pointedly looking away from Zjarrmi as she spoke, an embarrassed look crossing her face. "I'm not a great fan of glitter, but theres not much I can do about it so... Yeah. Um... I still totally want to see the dorms... But if you maybe... Could wait here for a second? I need to see if that kid over by the tree is evil."

She turned and casually walked towards the kid, as if randomly transforming in the middle of the day was a regular occurence (it was). "Hey." She said as she approached. "How's it going? I'm Neil... Nice to meet you. Listen, this might be an odd question, but you would happen to be evil would you? I mean, its cool if you are or whatever. Just thought I'd ask."

Zjarrmi was startled when, in a shower of light and sparkles, Neil suddenly became a girl. It was quite the show, really, and as she watched, Zjarr wondered briefly if, perhaps, she shouldn't be surprised by this. This was mostly because Neil acted as if it was routine and so did the lad under the tree when Neil approached him.

In fact, the other boy didn't even bat an eye but simply introduced himself. And this caused some confusion for Zjarrmi. Shew as fairly certain that such random transformations weren't normal. But they were acting as if it was, which made her question if, perhaps, it was quite normal and se just didn't remember that it was.

It was certainly confusing.

And so, because she was unsure what sort of reaction she should have, she hung back and watched the two boys...well, the boy and the girl...interact. She did wonder vaguely, when Ren's talk of 'the evil one' if he really thought there was only one evil person in the world. Not that she was inclined to think poorly of people. But surely there was more than just one person that did evil things.

Oh Lord. She was so, so very confused. If it were actually possible, she was certain little question marks would be shooting out of her head (then again, she'd just seen Neil transform into a girl in the most silly way imaginable. Anything was possible) because she truly had no idea what was going on.

And this time, she was reasonably sure it had nothing to do with memory loss.

Probably.

As she took her first steps on campus, the succubus couldn't help but smile. This was going to be her first time at any sort of academy, and to say she was excited would be an understatement. She barely noticed the other three students gathered outside, since she was too enthralled by the idea of public education. Although for her to be unnoticed would come as a surprise. It was kind of hard to miss a female with horns atop her head, and a frame so petite that her traditional kimono almost dragged across the floor when she would walk.

Neil glanced down at the boy's outstretched hand, then back up at his stupid face, a scowl threatening to (but not quite) breaking through her determinedly bored expression. Who the hell (no pun intended) said anything about Satan? She didn't even believe in the guy. This "Ren Akuma" (she wondered if his parents had stolen the name from a Bishounen Manga) was either hard of hearing, or just a bit thick in the head... She assumed the latter, seeing as he didn't even seem to be surprised by the fact that some weirdly dressed girl (who was a BOY, not two minutes earlier) had approached him, introduced herself as "Neil", and asked if he was evil. Was this something that happened to him often? She nearly shuddered at the thought. It wasn't as if her whole "transformation sequence" was an easy thing to miss either. She really wished it was, but in generic Mahou Shojou style, it was a flashy, sparkly, and rather obtrusive thing to watch. Really made having a secret identity difficult when transforming was equivalent to hanging a large neon sign above one's head that said: LOOK AT ME, I'M A MAGICAL GIRL. You'd have to be pretty freakin' unobservant to miss that. No wonder this guy was having a hard time finding his way around.

Neil gave Ren an unamused look. "Okay, bored now. Bye." She turned on a heel and briskly walked back towards Zjarrmi, Leaving the boy's hand, extended in "friendship" completely untouched. Looks like the stupid boy had forced a transformation sequence on her for absolutely no reason. Just because someone had "evil blood" or whatever didn't mean they were necessarily evil. That was like saying that eating a cake was the same thing as drinking milk, just because there was milk in the cake... or something.

Neil silently reminded herself to never try to make an analogy ever again.

There was some other girl nearby... Neil didn't care. She wasn't even close enough to barely notice via peripheral vision. Besides, she'd probably end up being annoying anyways. At this point in time, she was honestly much more focused on changing back out of her "Mahou Shojou" form, seeing as the "crisis" was averted or whatever. Oddly enough, this was turning out to be a much more difficult task than, by any rights, it should have been. Neil's face turned into a blank mask of concentration as she struggled to get her body to begin changing... but no luck. She couldn't change back. There was really only one reason why this might be... There must be another "demonic" presence somewhere nearby-

Neil's head snapped around, and all of the frustrations of the day suddenly broke through her adamantly detached expression to form the most absolutely venomous look her soft facial features could possibly create. For a quick three seconds she glared hard at the girl she had so flippantly dismissed as "uninteresting" but mere moments earlier. GOD. Was everyone at this school a demon? Neil quickly looked away, staring stubbornly ahead as she worked her facial features back into something smoother, and generally less ugly. She should really go over to that girl and repeat the same conversation she had just had with the idiot by the tree, but honestly, she was SO not interested. There was a stream of obscenities a mile long running through her head, and all she wanted to do was leave the area behind and find a place where she could actually be allowed control over her own body. So, upon arriving at where Zjarrmi was standing, she gently took a hold of one of her arms, beckoning her to come with her... somewhere, anywhere other than where they were.

"Um... Can we please go now?" She said softly enough to keep the words between the two of them. "I promise I'll explain if we just get out of here... now."

Chiyo felt a strange sensation for a second. The kind of feeling you get when someone is staring at you. The succubus turned her head for a moment. She hadn't caught anyone looking at her but she finally took notice of the two females and male. She wasn't sure about the male, but the females looked like average humans to her. She had nothing against humans, but she was a bit disappointed, having hoped that her classmates would be at least interesting. At least they would have a lot of energy to feed off of. I hope the people here are nice... she thought to herself as she inspected the plain jane's. Completely oblivious to whatever was going on with them at that moment, Chiyo shot all of them a sugary sweet smile. Razor sharp teeth and all. She looked towards the building and started walking towards it, waving back at them as she walked away. She had no idea who they were, but that wouldn't stop her from being friendly.

"Oh, you don't have to explain," Zjarrmi assured Neil as she watched Ren curiously. There was also a newcomer to the scene but she seemed rather disinclined to speak to anyone and Zjarrmi wasn't usually one to force her attentions on someone who didn't want them. The girl did wave though, so Zjarrmi waved back since it seemed the polite thing to do and, really, with Neil glaring at everyone (not that she was judging--that short skirt did seem drafty enough to make anyone cranky), she would rather be polite than not. "We can go but...well, shouldn't we tell those two that classes aren't in session yet? Because there's really no one in the school right now and there aren't any classes and it's rather empty....."

She glanced at Neil sheepishly. "But, really, it's okay. I did hear this school wasn't a place with many 'normal' people--not that I'm saying you aren't normal. I mean, you know, it's not a place for your average Humans, I suppose? They tell me I'm not one either but I don't know the details, unfortunately."

Oh, right. Neil didn't seem to like chatty people. But there was one more think Zjarrmi really needed to ask. "Ah...should I still show you to the boy's dorm?"

Fredrich Waltz

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.

Fredrich walked around the school grounds, his black, leather gloved hands in his long coat pockets except for one, which was lifted up to his face and pushing his glasses up. He had received a call from the hospital about the gym teacher thoroughly abusing two students, so he would have to look into it. That was good. Fredrich came to realize that he was having more work as an assassin than as the detective he masqueraded as. Work like this was just what he needed, especially if he wanted to stop thinking of..... Fredrich clenched his jaw for a second then shook his head. No, no. No thinking about you-know-who, there was work to be done.

Without proof, you'll never catch me.
