Efflo sat in a tree outside the Ghost dorms, perched precariously with his phone out. He really, really hated heights. Horses weren’t meant to climb trees! But it provided a good vantage point of the entrance to the dorms and he wasn’t sure how else he was going to do this. He needed to get a picture of Gabby to show Calder. Calder had also said he could show it off to everyone knew but since Calder was about the only one he knew well enough to show off to, they were pretty much the same thing. The boil guessed he could have just asked Gabby for a picture but all of Calder’s pictures had been of an unsuspecting Barth. Plus, Efflo had no idea how to go about asking Gabby. ‘Hey, can I take a picture of you? And your horns? Oh, no reason… Just ‘cause..’ Nope, it just sounded lame. And weird. Efflo didn’t want to be weird; he was already the scrawny one in the relationship. Better to not add more strikes against him. He’d invited Gabby to meet up at his dorm at a specific time, and was now anxiously waiting for his boilfriend to appear. Naively, Efflo didn’t realize that doing so made him seem a million times creepier than if he’d just asked for the pictures. But nonetheless, he really hoped Gabby arrive soon because he was fairly certain that he’d just heard an ominous sounding crack beneath him and he definitely did not trust the stupid tree to keep him from falling to his second death.

The reason Efflo had waited so long was that Gabby had been burdened with glorious purpose a conundrum that he'd never really faced before. What was he going to wear? His regular jacket felt.. overused. But he really didn't have much in the way of clothing, as it usually didn't matter. But he was self-conscious, for once. He wanted.. to not look terrible. So he'd stood outside of his tiny little closet in nothing but a towel, and wet, dripping hair, and stared at his meager clothing choices.
And stared.
And then he stared some more.
Finally, he'd chosen the beige turtleneck he'd only worn once, when he first applied to Amityville. He let the fabric tighten around his body, and turned left and right, trying to see if it fit him well enough. He was so used to his jacket that it felt underdressed, despite covering almost every inch of skin. He would have stayed to try something else.. but he had nothing else.
So after toweling his hair until it was only damp, he pulled on his only pair of jeans, gave up and stormed out of his room and the ghost dorms. Once he'd exited the doors, the cold hair hit him like a welcome friend, and he reveled in the way it flowed through his wet hair, chilling him to the bone.

Efflo had to stifle a gasp as Gabby walked out; he’d never seen him wear that before. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the dragon’s beautiful coat but the garment left a lot to the imagination. A lot. The taut sweater, on the other hand, painted a pretty hot clear picture.
Picture, picture! He reminded himself, holding up his phone. The boil frowned when he realized that he wasn’t close enough, even with zoom any pictures he took wouldn’t be very good. He had to get closer. Efflo sidled along the branch as far from the trunk as he could, hanging perilously onto thin upper limbs. Just a little more, a little further…
Then SNAP! Efflo felt the tree give way beneath him, and he yelped as the branches he was holding onto cracked, unable to hold his weight. He closed his eyes as they finally came loose, preparing for the worst. But, it never came. One minute, two minutes, and the ground never came to meet him. He cautiously dared to open one eye, then the other. In the end, it wasn’t some miracle that saved him but rather, his belt loop, snagged on the branch and holding steady for the moment. Efflo didn’t dare twist around to see, sure that any further movement would only end badly. His phone lay cracked on the ground, a testament to what would happen.
So the boil hung from the branch by his belt, looking absolutely unfortunate.

Gabby never heard the gasp, but there was no way to miss the sounds of break tree branches and a falling boil. He'd only taken a single step down the stairs when he heard the break, and he looked up just in time to see Efflo soar off of the branch he'd been on, get his pants caught on another branch, and bob there for a moment, eyes closed, waiting for a fall. It would have been hilarious if Gabby's frozen heart hadn't jumped up into his throat in fear. He wouldn't have been in time to catch him - he knew this because his body was already in motion the second he'd seen the boil fall, and he was under the tree far too late to have ever had a chance. But when he saw Efflo hanging there, the branch precariously holding him up, Gabby unfurled his wings and beat them down enough to lift him off the ground, floating gently up into the tree until he was at level with Efflo's gently bobbing form. Gabby wrapped his arms around the boil's waist, pulled his belt loop off the branch, and slipped the boil into his arms. Then he descended, his pace achingly slow as he carefully maneuvered himself out of the tree. "Hello, baby." Just a drop of sarcasm tainted the otherwise affectionate little greeting, as Gabby carried Efflo, like a baby, in his arms. He landed shortly after, his clawed feet touching the ground and digging in for leverage. "Mind telling me what you were doing in a tree outside my dorm?"

Ah, his knight in flattering beige turtleneck. Efflo clung to Gabby the minute he could reach, hugging the boil tightly and shutting his eyes until they were safely on the ground. Once he was sure they’d landed, Efflo loosened his hold on Gabby and peeked his eyes open shyly. “Hi,” he greeted the dragon softly, trying to keep himself from getting embarrassed and blushing. That would be a dead giveaway. His eyes strayed to where his phone was still lying on the ground, unnoticed by Gabby. Maybe he could play this one off. “Nothing,” he fibbed, staring into Gabby’s chest rather than his face. “I was just uh, you know, climbing.” Creeple did that right, climbed? Hadn’t Gabby been in a tree the last time they’d met? He sighed quietly; he was a terrible liar. He e didn’t want to lie to Gabby in the first place but the truth just sounded so weird. Nervously, he fiddled with the dragon’s shirt, admiring the softness of the fabric among other things. “I really like this shirt on you,” he said suddenly, glancing up with a grin.

Efflo was a terrible liar. "Climbing, huh?" Gabby's sarcastic murmur teased him. "Doesn't sound like you. Besides, if you're busy climbing trees next to my dorm, how am I supposed to meet you in yours?" Gabby wasn't buying it for a second. Nor was he letting Efflo go. He just held the boil in his arms, as if it was the most natural thing in the world. As the boil fussed with his shirt, Gabby leaned in and brushed the tip of his nose against Efflo's hair. It was easy to lose track of the moment, when he was close enough to do that. "My shirt?" He murmured, only half-listening. "What's so special about it? It's just a shirt. I prefer your lack of a shirt." No one could say the boil wasn't honest.

He could tell by Gabby’s teasing tone that he was busted. Oh well, he hadn’t wanted to keep anything from the dragon anyway. He snuggled into the boil’s arms, shifting to drape his own around Gabby’s neck, so he could look at him properly. My boilfriend, he thought as he gazed at Gabby’s ice-blue eyes, sighing happily. “I… Wasn’t climbing,” he admitted sheepishly. “You see, I was telling my friend Calder about you and I didn’t have a picture to show him but I thought asking you might be weird so I tried to take it secretly but… It didn’t work out…” He paused a moment, thinking. “I don’t think I was going about it the right way, anyway. I’d rather take a picture with you not of you.” “And… thank-you for saving me,” he added quietly. But then Gabby was leaning closer and murmuring and Efflo squirmed in his arms, blushing furiously as he hid his face against Gabby’s sweater. The boil tried so hard to keep from getting flustered and it wasn’t fair! It’s not like he owned a shirt! How was he supposed to not be affected when Gabby said things like that?

Gabby pulled away just enough to look at him, intrigued by his honest answer. "So, wait. You wanted a picture of me, so you decided the best way to get it.. was to climb a tree?" Gabby had to wonder just what kind of pictures Efflo was trying to take, and surreptitiously checked to see if his room's window was in view of the tree he'd been in. Satisfied that it wasn't, he finally let the boil down and settled one arm around his shoulder. "Okay, then what kind of picture do you want now? Like, just me, or us? Human form or dragon form?" That made more sense.. maybe Efflo had been in the tree to get a picture of his dragon form. "All you have to do is ask." He whispered quietly, as he pressed his fingers lightly against the boils cheeks. "You know I'd let you take any pictures of me you wanted."

Efflo shrugged innocently in Gabby’s arms, “It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Then he was being set down and his eyes widened at the choices the dragon gave him. Anything? Anything at all? No, he chided himself; he couldn’t possibly mean those kinds of pictures. Could he? Efflo slid out from underneath Gabby’s arm, going to retrieve his fallen phone. Holding it up, he could see the casing was cracked but everything else seemed to be in tact. The boil let out a little sigh of relief, the last thing he wanted to do was have to go to the maul for two things. He trotted back to Gabby, wrapping his arms around his waist and glancing up at the taller boil with a smile. “Can we take some pictures together?” he asked sweetly. “And then maybe some of just you? And then maybe some more pictures of us, and maybe some of me? And oh, I haven’t seen your dragon form yet, would you show me? Some pictures of that would be really cool, I bet,” he rambled, eyes starry. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours!" “And then… Maybe… One of your horns?”

Efflo sure had a lot of requests, but none of them sounded too out of the ordinary. Until..
"Wh.. my - did you just ask me if you could take a picture of my horns?" His hands lifted up and rubbed them both, curiously wondering if they were something special. Then he had to wonder if he should start wearing hats..
"I mean, it's fine, I just.. do you like horns? Are they.. do they.. I mean, for you.." It was Gabby's turn to stutter in embarrassment, and he chose, at that moment, to let the subject drop. "Well, whatever, of course you can. Let's start with the top of your list." The boil wanted pictures of them both. Gabby walked over behind Efflo, wrapped his arms tightly around the boil's waist, and pulled him up close. Gabby's head dipped in to rest on the boil's shoulder, tilted just slightly. He couldn't help but glance at the boil beside him, a soft smirk hinting at one corner of his lips as he savored the moment.
"Well, whenever you're ready."

He tilted his head curiously at Gabby’s reluctance. It was a weird request, Efflo figured, but not that weird. Why was he- Oh? Oh no.
But before he had a chance to explain, Gabby was moving behind him and he found himself being hugged against the boil. He huffed; he was definitely setting the record straight after he took their picture. “I’m ready,” he whispered with determination, holding his phone up to find just the right angle.
When he found it, his finger hovered over the camera button, hesitating for just a moment before he quickly turned his face to plant an unsuspecting kiss on Gabby and then snapped the shot. He loved stealing kisses.

The look on Gabby's face when that flash went off was pure shock. His cheeks had kissed with color, and his lips had been left just slightly open, but as soon as the moment was over, he growled at being tricked. "One of these days, I'm going to kiss you so hard, so much, you won't be able to steal them back." He threatened, quite seriously, before patting his rear and letting him go. "Fine. Take one of me now. You can't steal anything from me then."
He certainly wasn't going to pose. The fact he was faintly blushing and looked just a little indignant was enough pose for him.

Efflo laughed, scooting away from Gabby’s pat. “Well, you can try as much as you want,” he grinned, “I won’t stop you.”
Something wasn’t right, though, he thought as he snapped a quick shot of Gabby standing there. It was a nice change to see the cool boil looking flustered for once but he couldn’t help but feel something was missing. Lowering his phone, he frowned at the dragon, jutting his lower lip out.
“Gaaabriel,” he whined, sounding like a petulant colt. “It’s no good if you just stand there, they’ll all look the same. Can’t you do a cool dragon pose or something? Just one, please? I promise you’ll only have to do it once…” Or twice, or as much as Efflo could get away with. He was starting to think he might have a problem.

Why, exactly, had Gabby promised this boil any picture he wanted? He wondered this as he simultaneously wondered what the hell a dragon pose was. But of course, he knew what the answer to his first question was, and therefore he pushed it away before his mind could make him think about it. Instead, he tried to decipher the riddle of the mysterious 'dragon pose'.
"It's hard to make a dragon pose when I'm not actually in dragon form.." He muttered under his breath, trying to remember what his pose was when he was in his natural form. He crouched, and turned his hands into claws, holding them in front of him. He looked more like a raptor than a dragon..
"Roar." He hissed out, breathing a puff of frost. "Wait, don't take a picture of this, I feel like an idiot." And looked like one too.

He stifled a snort as Gabby got into position, trying to hold onto his laughter just long enough to take the picture. It really was perfect; he’d even managed to capture the dragon’s frosty breath along with the outrageous pose.
Then, unable to contain it any longer, he ran over to Gabby, collapsing onto the boil in a fit of laughter. Efflo couldn’t help it, he laughed until his was crying. When he did finally manage to control himself, he looked up at Gabby. “You are an idiot, but you’re my idiot and I like you anyway,” he said matter-of-factly, a cheeky grin on his face.
His expression softened, though, as Efflo leaned in to nuzzle Gabby's icy cheek affectionately. "Thank-you for trying.."
