Griever wandered away from the herd. He was tired of the looks he received by the herd members. There whispers under their breaths about his unique appearance. His father and great grandfather tried to assure him that he was overstressing on other’s opinions. Still—
He’d rather have the genes his brother received. His brother was unique only with his wings but he looks much more like his parents. He on the other hand was “blessed” with these twisted genetics. Griever stopped before a small lake. He looked down at his appearance and his blue pupil-less eyes hardened. His right front large talon foot slashed at the water causing a ripple.
He let out a long sigh and sat back on his rear looking up at the sky. The sun was going down so the sky was a purple pink color and the moon was rising.

Discordia had wandered this way, that way, and that’s how she came across the lake. Wandering was the usual for the little filly as it was when her Mother was just a youngling, but it seemed that Florian’s daughter was more the explorer than she had ever dreamed to be. However Discordia wasn’t scared as she lay beside the water’s edge and looked to her reflection. She knew her way back home and was pretty sure that she would come across her Mother or someone of her herd sometime soon. Though this moment away from her herd was refreshing and quite soothing. Not that Discordia didn’t appreciate and love her family, but sometimes she didn’t think that they understood her…
With a sigh she dipped a hoof into the water to watch her reflection move this way and that upon the water’s surface. The sun was fading and she knew that it would soon be time to venture on home, but apart of her just wanted to stay away…far away where the others couldn’t mock her, where she could be herself…where…
Pausing with ears swiveling as a particular scent came to her nose. She looked past the reeds that surrounded her petite body to see a colt not too far and such a peculiar colt he was! Discordia sprang to life as she jumped up onto her hooves and watched as he stared up into the sky. What was he looking at? Not that it was any real interest to her.
She just had to get a closer look at this foal! She flicked her tail and tried to be silent as she moved through the reeds and long grass that grew close to the water’s edge.

He tried to imagine how it must be to fly. Fly among the clouds and the stars; it must be nice. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh. Though his eyes shot open when he heard some sounds close by him and he got back up on all fours. He looked around the area and so far he couldn’t see anything. Perhaps he wandered in a danger zone as his grandfather’s guard Lutherian told him about? He was sure that he stuck close to the area that was given the okay to wander alone. Then again it had been awhile since he last lost the scent of his herd members.
“Anyone out there??” he called out.
The oversized talon harpy suddenly felt a little uneasy. He tried to mask his fear with his usual smug expression and hardened cold eyes. Perhaps if someone was hunting him would see he wasn’t afraid and maybe his unique appearance would scare them off if he buffed up a little. His feathers ruffled and his talons dug into the earth as he kept his gaze locked towards the tall reeds by the lake. If anything was out to get him that would be the perfect hiding spot.
When he saw some movement and a flash of something brown & black puffed up. He wasn’t about to look like a joke before anyone. He was going to carry the personality of his breed the best he could. A harpy; someone who wasn’t afraid and possessive even if he was male.

Well her cover was blown—well, he knew that she was out there looking at him but she certinately wasn’t stalking him or anything of that sort. Discordia decided just to walk out so that he could see her as he didn’t seem all that threatening, although his talons sure looked like they could do some damage.
“Hello,” she yipped out as she stepped out from behind the reeds. Her eyes flashed with curiosity as she looked at the foal. “Wow!” she looked astonished as she took a step closer to him, making note of every detail of his body.
“Those look really sharp,” she dipped her head down to his golden talons. “And what’s this on your back?” she asked, taking note of the odd spikes on his back. “And what odd mane you have,” she pulled her head back. Discordia didn’t hold back the comments and questions as she trotted around his body with a spark of interest in her eyes.

A young filly popped out from the reeds and he drew back a little startled. She was different not a soquili he’s ever met. She had unique wings and they almost look what was the word his father described kalona? Maybe even demonic he wasn’t sure though she didn’t seem mean or nasty just someone who asked a lot of questions. He was a little taken back that she wasn’t afraid of him just curious.
“Pft. You certainly ask a lot of questions don’t you?” His once startled eyes go back to a harden stare. He eased a little though since he sensed nothing threatening. At least not yet since she was nothing but a filly and he probably could take her down with his talons which she was currently starring at the moment. He flinched a little when she asked what was on his backside. He didn’t like to remember those spiky things sticking out from him. Oversized talons he can live with but these spikes just made him seem like a baddie “Quills. Sharp ones.” He replied.
He then held his gaze on her “Who are you?” Griever asked.

“You certainly ask a lot of questions,” she mocked with sarcasm dripped from her vocals as she repeated the colt’s words with a roll of her eyes. She ignored him for a brief moment as her curiosity was fixed on the ‘quills’ upon his back. This Soquili was very interesting. Everything from his sharp golden talons to the hard blue, pupil-less eyes on his face—yep, he was very different from any Soquili that she had ever come across.
“Do they hurt?” Discordia blinked as she stepped closer and stretched her head out, looking at the ‘quills’. Just then her eyes widened as she neared closer. “Can I touch them?” she asked with a flick of her tail and wings.

Griever frowned a little when she didn’t answer him. He watched as winged filly inspected him some more. It made him feel like he was some sort of rare specimen and she was studying him. When she asked if she could touch them he almost thought he was hearing things.
“Come again? You want to touch them?!” he sounded shocked.
He knew touching them might hurt her. Though why should he care if she hurts herself? His eyes rested upon her and he shook his head. He thought best to decline “It wouldn’t be wise. You might p***k yourself.” He told her sternly. Griever started to wonder if she was afraid of nothing.
"Are you not afraid of me?" he asked.

Discordia blinked as she looked the colt without an expression on her face. Just then a tiny smile cracked on her lips and laughter echoed out from her vocals. “Should I be scared of you?” she giggled, pausing as she stepped back and nearly rolled onto her stomach. “I’ve heard of monsters—creatures much scarier looking than yourself,” she said. The young filly smirked as she raised her hoof and wiped the end of her snout and then sat back on her haunches. “For one you look…very odd. And I’m not saying that in a negative way, it’s just…you look like something that should be funny than frightening. Take your talons for instance,” she paused and bobbed her head down to the sharp, golden talons on his feet. “They’re HUGE and you’re well…quite small. Just doesn’t look right. Oh, and that tail…it looks like a poofy dandelion,” she giggled. “You just look well…rather silly, not scary. I’m sorry,” Discordia said matter-of-factly.

His eyes widen; did he look like a joke? Griever debated on walking away from the filly not bothering to talk more. His talons started to sink into the ground as he tried to control his anger. There was no way he was going to allow himself to lose his temper on this filly. He had a feeling she didn’t know better or she ment well but it didn’t come across right.
“Funny?” his eyes hardened.
Suddenly he felt vulnerable under her laughter. Sure his large talons did look funny since he was so small. However his father assured once he grows up they’ll suit him. Griever turned away from her and he glared at a tree close by them. He took a deep breath “Whatever.” He simply said as he turned back to look at her.
“Don’t you have some place to be?” he asked; his voice had a hint of hurt and he wished she’d disappear now.

“Touch touchy,” Discordia rolled her eyes with a grimace. She honestly didn’t mean any harm in what she said. She was very different herself, after all especially when it came to her cousins and other herd mates. She sighed deeply and stood up as she shifted a bit on her hooves. Was she to apologize? It wasn’t her fault that he took her words so negative. Honestly…What was wrong with looking a bit different and unique? Okay, maybe she shouldn’t have said he looks funny…but he does…She rolled her eyes again as she shrugged her shoulders and looked off to the distance. “If you want me to leave, I will” she said. “No need to be so settle,” she said simply.

He wanted her to leave and yet he didn’t want her to leave. He hated feeling like he didn’t belong. For once someone actually talked to him rather than running from him; even if it hadn’t turned positive. He sighed “Do whatever you want.” He huffed and sat himself down by the lakeside. He kept his blue pupil-less eyes upon her.
Curious what she might do now. Wondering if she’d leave or stay? Either way it didn’t matter to him or does it? He wasn’t sure though it was soon going to be nightfall and his father might be worried if he doesn’t head back.
“Can I ask for your name?”
His feather mane flattened and he seems cooled down. He looked more relax just sitting down in the grass. Griever’s large talons sat comfortably upon the earth surface.
"I'll tell you mine in exchange." He grinned.

“Why should I tell you my name?” Discordia wiggled the end of her nostrils as she looked to the colt. “A minute ago you were trying to shoo me away and even now I sense that you want me to leave,” she took note. Even though he looked somewhat relaxed, Discordia could tell that he was very offended by what she had said earlier and it still troubled him. But whatever, she couldn’t help saying whatever words escaped from her vocals and the fact that he didn’t want to hear the truth.
“And besides,” Discordia went on. “The exchange of names probably doesn’t matter as this is probably the last time I’ll be seeing you,” she said and walked up beside him. “Do you know how hard it is for me to even escape for a couple seconds from my family? It’s rather difficult and I’m sure now that I have snuck off, Mother won’t allow it ever, EVER again.”
“But if you MUST know,” she paused with a roll of her eyes before looking to him. “I’m Discordia. Or ‘Cordia. But mostly Discordia,” she smiled a bit.

Griever remained silent as she ranted on. He could understand an overprotective family plus she was just a filly after all. Who knows how far she wandered from her herd on her on. He blinked his eyes wondering if it was safe for her to travel alone while night approaches. Then again what can he do for her if he bothered to escort Discordia home, he was just a foal himself a unique looking foal but none the less.
“Discordia? That’s an interesting name.”
He felt somewhat pleased gaining this info. Perhaps in the future they’d cross paths. Who knows though? He looked to her with a soften look “I’m Griever.”
Griever got up from the ground with ease “You should head home soon. It’s getting dark. Since it seems your family is over protective I doubt they’d enjoy you heading home in the dark.” He paused then said “Will you be okay alone?” he sounded somewhat concerned.

“You see! You think my name is interesting, but when I compliment about your interesting features you freak out as though it’s all negative stuff coming out of my mouth! Well I’ll have you know that there’s nothing wrong with being unique and different, in this case interesting. I’m accepting of my name, and yes, it’s rather interesting. So how come you can’t accept yourself for whom you are?” Discordia blinked as she looked to Griever. She sighed and plopped back down on the ground. “You’re very confusing,” she said matter-of-factly. “One minute ago you were scowling at me and now you’re concerned on if I make it home alive or not,” a faint smirk cracked on her lips. “But I’ll have you know that nothing---And I mean NOTHING scares me,” she quickly stood up with her little chest puffed out looking all proud. “I could take on the biggest and meanest Kalona ever! EVER! You can even quote me on that,” she giggled. “I traveled out here on my own, I can travel back home.” Discordia chuckled with a proud, smug look on her face as she looked to him.

Nothing scared her? He blinked his eyes finding that hard to believe. There had to be at least something that scared her. He looked down at her now sitting form "Nothing scares you? Not even..what are they called again? Skinwalkers?" he asked her.
He shrugged at the being confusing comment. Perhaps he shouldn't had shown concern for her. Griever would try his best next time to keep his feelings inside.
