It's beautiful, but it doen't feel right at the moment cus it feels like we were in this amazing relationship with zOMG! and now we're gonna leave it for an upgrade, I know it's silly, I just don't wanna accept that it's being put on the back burner...

Yeah I know what you mean by that and I think a lot of people feel the same way. I won't leave zOMG! personally ever because it was my first mmo game, it's cuteness distracts me for pain, probably wouldn't be able to run in new game which is a negative for me, and I met a lot of great friends on it. I admit I've had an affair on zOMG! with another mmo game for the past 1.5 years, so I would probably leave that game if this game is any good. I do know quite a few friends that play other games in addition to zOMG! also and yes playing that game helped me realize how much stuff zOMG! is lacking as far as cash shop items. I'll never accept zOMG! is dead despite what rumors say and I feel like crying whenever gaia says no major updates will be made to zOMG! I don't know why but this game reminds me so much of another mmo I tried and got really bored with called Allods. There were different factions in that game too. All I know is that there better be a fairy type character in this game, otherwise not worth it for me. I just love fairies and mermaids.

First, it's important to note that despite what rumours may persist, this game has never been indicated to be anything like zOMG! - the only significant connection is that both are beautiful games, thanks in no small part to the contributions of an expert Art Director. Based on what they have shared, I'd guess the new game is based on TCGs and board games, meaning I'd expect the gameplay to be somewhere between Yu-Gi-Oh and chess. Obviously not a direct "upgrade" to zOMG!, by any stretch.
And second, we have to remember that the reason zOMG! is being 'back-burnered' has nothing to do with this game, or any other game; the fact is, zOMG! is just so bad at generating revenue that Gaia would prefer the gamble of creating a new game to actually investing in zOMG!. If they believed that they could profitably invest in zOMG!, they would do it - but until they find a way to do so, they would simply rather invest in anything else. Avoiding new games won't teach Gaia how to do that any faster, and it's not the fault of those new games that they don't know how - you're not betraying zOMG! in any way, because I'm afraid zOMG! really isn't even relevant to the situation... redface

well, I disagree with a couple of things here. by playing the new game, we're indicating to gaia that it works to wave something new in our faces so that we'll forget about a game that we all love. Second, zomg could generate profit, it's just that all the things that have been suggested either are being overlooked by gaia admin, or they aren't willing to do them for some silly reason. And also, let me point out that the new game may be just wonderful, but of course it won't be around long, because NOTHING EVER IS! do I sound bitter? well, I am a little.

I did read a comment I guess Qixter left that if Gaia had given him free reign to run zOMG! they way he wanted it would have made millions like his current game. So I think there is more to it than just money problems, probably internal thing.

RafiCat well, I disagree with a couple of things here. by playing the new game, we're indicating to gaia that it works to wave something new in our faces so that we'll forget about a game that we all love. I'm not certain how playing a new game somehow indicates that we've forgotten about zOMG! - unless zOMG!'s active use ratings absolutely plummet when the new game is released, they have no reason to interpret it as such. Being that the new game is Facebook-casual, large time investments are unlikely to be possible - let alone worthwhile - and it likely won't be appealing for the same reasons that zOMG! is. I don't expect any such indication to occur.
People say there are good ideas more often than there are, dear - you know that I have actively sought out almost every idea thread that's come through the Forums over the past 2 years, and I can say confidently that there simply aren't as many viable ideas as we like to think there are. Even the suggestions that are potentially viable often require a significant investment in just repairing the game before revenue-generating work can even begin, making it very difficult to invest in the game comfortably. If it were my own money, I'd probably be as reticent as Gaia is - zOMG! isn't giving off any strong signals as to what would effectively generate revenue, and there are simply safer gambles they can make.
And I fully expect the new game to have a limited lifespan - does that mean one shouldn't enjoy it while it's around? Games are primarily about playing, and having fun; and that is still quite possible even if they don't last forever. whee
Scobre I did read a comment I guess Qixter left that if Gaia had given him free reign to run zOMG! they way he wanted it would have made millions like his current game. So I think there is more to it than just money problems, probably internal thing. I get the impression that Qixter thought very highly of himself; the model, infrastructure, and direction that zOMG! was headed under his lead could not realistically support that kind of profit, especially given its context. While I'm sure he's doing phenomenally in whatever projects he's working on now, I'm not really convinced that he was good at making zOMG!...

I got that impression too. Like to say all the high things about that game and calling it bigger than WOW, then just leaving it. Seems like it was a fail game to him so he decided to leave it.

Seeing all you people here inspite of what has happened to zOMG! overwhelms me with joy.
I too will do my best to help restore the game I love. 3nodding

Is it just me or does this item not look very similar to the knight gear in this game? Knight of Horizon
