Just a thought, but you need a mule for the guild. A second account that will hold the donations for the contests and such.

This is just an idea, but we could have a randomly selected member
who goes around the guild on special events like Christmas,
Valentines day, Easter etc. and anonymously hands out gifts to
other said members who are participating in the guild.
Then the members who received the gifts must guess whom the gift giver is.
And the first to guess correctly receives a bigger and better gift.
But to make it fair, all the little gifts should be cheapish and
should be the same given to every one.
So that nobody is discriminated.
And the gift-giver changes per event and is allowed to chose
what gifts to give.
Just throwing it out there. ^.^

That seems like a good idea, I run a charity though so giving out items is something I do often enough anyway. It would be better just to set up a secret santa, have people write up a little note about what kind of things they like and have them all sent to someone and have that person mail these things out the members. Or something like that, it's kinda like yours and it could be adapted to halloween and other holidays.

Exactly. I donate regularly whenever I see a good enough quest thread,
so I'd be happy to help out with funds for each holiday event.
Or we could have one selected member for each holiday and make
a theme and games out of it like Gaia does.
As well as having the secret gifts.

Hm, there are a lot of little things that could be done. I mostly stick the literature area when I come to guild so my ideas are biased to that area. I do have an idea for the gaming area, when they get enough members they could do a contest online. Like on CoD or Halo or something. As for writing, I mean flash fiction or short story contests around about the holiday or verisimilitude contest.

You may want to consider doing communal projects. Maybe get the artists working on a series of paints. Or maybe get the writers and artists together to make a guild web comic or something. Just something to get the guild members working together.

It'll take a couple days to get together because I have to find everything but I have an old idea for a webcomic you could have if you do decide to go that route. I suck at art so well, yeah never went any where. Oh and I suck at comedy to.

Okay all of these ideas are amazing... I think we should try get these accomplished... it would simply be fun to do it... we can begin this once we are united in a cause... and when we have enough members willing to participate
