The Plot Atalaya is the young daughter of a royal family. From the time she was small, her mother has told her she is not pretty, or smart, or anything good really. "The only way you will ever become anything is if you listen to your mother." Her mother used to say. Now at the age of 19, her mother is trying to find her a rich suitor to marry, then live "happily" ever after. But her mother's idea of a fairytale is hardly what Atalaya wants. To protect her little daughter out of trouble, Atalaya's mother hired her a body guard. Atalaya finds herself in a strange situation. She's falling for the help. Could this be the really happily ever after she's been looking for? or is this just too sweet to last?
I am looking for a semi-lit person to play the male role. Pretty posts are preferred but not required. No one-liners or Gary-Stuing.PM me if interested ^-^ Thanks!

Rizeh woke up with a start, grey light threatening on the horizon. "Crap!" he muttered to himself. He could not bee late for this, it was his last chance. He flew around his small room and house silently, collecting everything that he needed. He felt bad for it but he took almost every weapon in the house, for his father insisted that he would need them more. You will make enough to support them now. Maybe after a while, even a new house., he reminded himself. Within a few minutes, he was finally ready. He was dressed in the uniform that the Lady had given him and it felt odd and formal and he had made sure to scrub down form head to toe. He had to look presentable. His black hair fell into his oddly purple eyes and he flicked at it in slight annoyance, though he refused to cut his hair any shorter than it was for fear of too many people seeing his odd eye color. Many people had called him a demon and worse for it even though there were others, even if it wasn't many, who had odd eye coloring. It was probably because they still blamed him for the accident that had crippled his father. His father used to be the one who supported their family with trade from his game and he was well respected in the markets; and people would come up with the stupidest reasons to find someone to blame, hence Rizeh with his odd eyes was the culprit who had cursed his father into the accident. He pulled himself from his thoughts and went to the other two tiny rooms that served as bedrooms for the rest of his family. He kissed his younger brother and sister on the head softly, not wanting to wake them this early, before peeking into his father's room. He was laying, as always since the accident, in his bed. He was looking worse with each passing day and season, his muscles loosing all of their strength from disuse. "I promise I'll make you better some day.." he whispered before heading out the door to his new job.
The trek to the castle from his home was long but he didn't really mind for he was used to long days of working and hunting but he was relieved that he made it there on time. The sun was higher in the sky, indicating early morning when royals would generally wake. He was greeted almost instantly by one of the servants there and was ushered inside. The place was huge compared to his tiny home and he suddenly felt very small and very nervous. The Lady of the house had met him once, which was honor enough, but now he was to be guarding her daughter.. He didn't have much time to dwell on the thoughts before he was hurriedly swept through a door and into a surprisingly small and quaint dinning area with a huge glass window overlooking a lavish garden. No one was present yet but there was a basket of steaming rolls on the table, waiting for the breakfast arrivals. There were only three chairs and Rizeh was horrified when the servant gestured for him to sit. Surely they did not mean for him to eat with the Lady and Madam!? It was ludicrous, insane! He was a poor boy from the outskirts, not even worthy of being in their presence.. He took a deep breath to calm himself and took his seat very carefully. You are the Madam's guard now... maybe it's okay.., he thought hopefully. He heard footsteps approaching and quickly stood, remembering his manners to hold out seats and such.((now that I am properly awake, here you are^^ I wasn't sure what to do once I got into the castle(?) nor if they were like Queen and Princess or just a royal family related to them but I can edit))

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► Pearl, the lady of the house, stormed about the house, searching room after room. "Atalaya! Atalaya were are you??"
Outside, a young, dark haired girl sat in a wild garden, unlike all the other prim and proper gardens. Plants of every shade and color grew freely all around. The noble girl sat on the edge of a marble fountain, an easel in front of her and paint on her pale face. The blank canvas was growing with the color of her surroundings. From the house, her mother's booming voice could be heard. "Atalaya!!!" She jumped. Painting was absolutely not allowed. 'Painting is for beggars and tramps.' Her mother would say. As fast as she could, the green eyed noble picked up the still wet canvas and easel and moved them behind the willow in the far east corner of the blocked in garden. After a moment, Pearl appeared in the doorway. 'There you are!' She scolded, grabbing her daughter by the wrist and pulling her towards the house. 'Your bodyguard is here. After he is informed of his duties, you have classes, then lunch with Sir Winston and his eligible son and I, followed by your lady classes." This was the typical day for Atalaya. Meeting suitors, classes, and maybe the occasional meal. Before long, the pair arrived in the main dinning room. At the end of the long table stood a perplexed looking young man with dark hair. "You!" Pearl said, finally releasing her daughter and approaching the boy. "You are the guard I assume?" ◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► but not everyone sees it."-Confucius OOC: ((She is on nobility, not royalty, so basically her family very very wealthy with some political influence but not as much as the royal family. Rizeh looked up sharply when the two ladies entered the room and was firstly surprised by his reaction. The daughter was beautiful... very beautiful. And then he was surprised by how she was pretty much literally drug into the room by the Lady Pearl. He swallowed a little nervously and lowered his eyes as she approached. "Yes.." he said quietly before remembering that he was supposed to be a strong guard, not some pathetic boy. "Yes milady. Rizehkar Ethane Eros reporting as per your request." He was glad that his voice came out stronger this time for it was always very quiet. Or at least it was after his father had been crippled. "I will be glad to serve you and your daughter." Seemingly of their own accord, his eyes traveled up to find the young Madam, looking onto her own brilliant green eyes. The moment that happened though, he lowered them again, afraid that he would get in trouble for looking her in the eyes. Don't screw this up Rizeh... Please don't screw this up.., he thought to himself. If he did anything to loose this job then he might loose his family too.. His father would never blame him and his brother and sister wouldn't even know that it was his fault but it would be all his fault.. His siblings were so small and frail even though he did all he could to keep them feed and cared for. He didn't know what would happen if he lost this new job.. The people in the market were forever blaming him with his purple eyes for everything that went wrong and it hurt his trades badly. It seemed like he brought home less every day.. He wasn't sure at all of what to do so he just stood there with his head slightly bowed, his eyes following invisible patters on the floor.(Sorry it's shorter than my last one x.x And I guess I described a few things wrong then o.o" But I guess your post fixes that sweatdrop sorry for that)

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► The older lady circled him, inspecting everything. "Well..." She said, looking down her nose at him. "You're a bit scrawny, but the head of the city guards himself recommended you, so you can't be too bad." She stood in front of him again. "You start right now. You will be here every morning, at least 30 minutes before the sunrises and will leave once you have secured the perimeter at Atalaya is in bed. Is that clear?" Not giving him a chance to respond, she turned and addressed her daughter. "Now you have classes to get to and..." She stopped herself, scrutinizing her daughter's face. A worried look passed over Atalaya's face as her mother leaned in. "Mother?" She asked softly. "Is that paint on your face, Atalaya?" She asked, coming closer. Instantly, Atalaya went from worried to sheer panic in a matter of seconds. "Ummm, you see..." Before she could finish her sentence, Pearl struck her across the face. "You know that painting is forbidden in this house young lady! Ladies do not paint!" She scoffed the last word as though it disgusted her. Suddenly, she turned to Rizeh. "You! Take her to the garden, find the painting and any painting supplies, and see they are destroyed. Then escort her to her class." With that, Lady Pearl stalked from the room, off to find something to perfect. For a moment, Atalaya stood shocked, her hand to her cheek. Her eyes stung with tears, but she fought them back. Ladies didn't cry either, and she didn't want to be slapped again. Quietly, she said, "The garden is this way." And turned to go. ◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► but not everyone sees it."-Confucius OOC: ((No problem. Quality over quantity! ))

Rizeh was shocked when Lady Pearl said that the head of the city guard had recommended him and then once again when the Lady struck his new charge. He didn't understand.. why would a mother even do that and moreover what was so wrong with painting? He felt an inexplicable, instant rage when the Lady slapped her. The poor girl didn't deserve that kind of treatment.. Even so, the rage startled him, for he was usually a very calm and gentle person. He held his tongue before anything could slip and managed to keep his face neutral until she left. Once she was out of site though, he caught the Madam's eyes again, which were wet with unshed tears and his mask of indifference fell away to worry. He didn't say anything at first, for fear of getting in trouble and he stood there for just a moment after the Madam beckoned him to follow. He caught up with her quickly though and decided that, even if it was a foolish, he wanted to say at least something.. "Ah.. Madam? I'm sorry, for I know that it is probably not my place to say anything but.. Are you alright Madam?" His voice had dropped back into it's regular quiet, reserved manor. He didn't know what to do again...
What he really wanted to do was go back and yell at Lady Pearl for even doing such a thing. There was no need whatsoever to be so harsh to the Madam. Her order seemed so terrible to him too.. Why destroy art? Perhaps he shouldn't have taken this job to work for such a horrible woman.. But really she wasn't so bad compared to the old madwoman that he used to care for. She paid fairly well but she truly was mad, talking to others who weren't there and once he even saw her trying to waltz with her invisible friends. Every time he interrupted her or pointed out gently that no one was there, she start screaming and hitting him, so he stopped. The woman was dead now though, having given in to a sudden illness. In a way he missed her though. In her moments of half-sanity she was very kind. She was the one who had introduced him to the violin that he loved so dearly.. She had been a very good painter too, which was what had brought her to mind really. She had had hundreds of paintings along her walls, in was piles, hanging in front of one another, covering almost every surface. He shook his head very slightly, ridding himself of the thoughts.((Mtay, well here's a little bit better one. Though I'm really tired so I'm hoping that sounds okay>.> ))

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► The girl simply nodded, still fighting the urge to cry. Atalaya began leading her new bodyguard down the narrow hallway that connected more of the house. On the left side were large windows covered by eggshell curtains. The view over looked most of the town and the bay that lingered to the west. The noble girl had painted this view before, several times actually. The water never seemed to look right, always something amiss that she couldn't quite put her finger on. Perhaps it was due to the fact that she had never been to the ocean before, even though it lingered more than a few miles from her very own balcony. The ocean was also for poor people, as it would turn out. Why was it that everything Atalaya wanted was for the poor or the beautiful, never for her? Shaking her head free of those thoughts, the dark haired girl and her escort finally arrived at the garden. It was the first of nine and the closest to the house. She pushed the dilapidated mahogany door inward, then stepped inside, holding the door for Rizeh. Large white stone surrounded the space and gave a stark contrast to the color of flowers it surrounded. Walking towards the tree, Atalaya felt her sorrow growing. All of her painting supplies were to be destroyed. The brushes, the easel, the paint, all of it. A small part of her wished she had kept some of the paint and brushes in her room, but she quelled that little voice. Mother was right. Mother was always right. And if she had to give up her painting, then she must. Her mother had never been wrong before. Atalaya retrieved the easel first from behind the tree, never thinking that perhaps the help should be doing this. Carefully, she placed it beside the fountain, then returned next for the brushes and paint, which she carefully set on the fountains edge. Finally, the painting. Some of the paint wet her pale fingers as she picked it up from its place on the floor. 'Still wet.' She thought, a bit absently. With the canvas in hand, the girl walked over to the bodyguard, and allowed herself a moment of looking it over for flaws. The picture wasn't finish and it had smeared where her fingers had gotten into it, making the painting ruined anyway. "Here." Atalaya said, her voice almost a whisper. "This is the only one here in the garden. The others are hidden in my wardrobe behind the dresses."

Rizeh saw the threatening tears as he followed the Madam to the garden, but what was he to do? He probably already stepped out of place a little asking her if she was alright. So instead of saying anything else, he followed her silently. When they reached the garden, he thought that it was much more beautiful than the lovely tended ones that he had seen around the large mansion, just like all of the others surrounding the other Noble households, nice and prim. This garden, though perhaps not as symmetrical or kept, held a beauty that the others never would. The wildflowers and vines gave it a much more flowing look and everywhere you turned, there was a new color. He decided that it was the prettiest garden that he had ever seen. Rizeh brought himself back to reality and saw then that his charge was carrying a painting. The paint smeared a little with her fingers, as it was apparently still wet, but even so, the painting was beautiful. The colors of the flowers matched perfectly and she had really been capturing the essence of the garden. The smear might have been fixable with an expert hand but it was beyond saving anyways, because he had to destroy it.. He thought again of how awful the task was and how terribly sad the Madam looked and he could barely bring himself to gather the supplies.
He was reaching for the painting when he decided to do the second most foolish thing he had ever done. "You know.. Why don't we leave these out here, and I will take them and burn them later? Along with the others I guess.." He didn't really plan on burning any of them, but rather on hiding them somewhere until he could figure out how to return them to the Madam. Foolish, yes.. very. But he knew that he couldn't possibly destroy them.. She looked so horribly sad... "Yes.. I will do this later. Perhaps while you are preparing for bed tonight or something of the sort. I will be watching you, so there's not really a chance of you coming back to them." He said the last part as more of a reassurance to himself, for it would be the lie that he told Lady Pearl. He gathered the painting and supplies and placed them back into their hiding spot. "I will collect them later. Now, we need to get you to your classes, am I correct?" he said, attempting to sound a little more cheery than he really was. He actually hoped that the Madam understood what he was doing with the paintings. Maybe it would make her happy. He didn't like the tears and sadness in her eyes..

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► For a moment, Atalaya was puzzled. Mother was very clear that everything was to be destroyed as soon as possible, but something told her Rizeh wasn't too keen on the idea. The noble decided not to push the issue. "Yes." She said, in her usual soft tone. "They're in the study." The dark haired girl turned to the fountain and quickly washed her hand, wishing to avoid another confrontation with her mother. Internally, she debated whether or not was proper to thank the help. Pearl never did it, but it always seemed to upset the staff. Then again, Mother always said that servants were below then, not to be associated with. Atalaya turned, facing her new bodyguard. "Umm... Thank you." She stated. He was doing her a kindness, and that deserved a bit of gratitude. As Atalaya faced him, she noticed something strange. His eyes were the most amazing shade of purple. It was odd, yet strangely beautiful. For a moment, she stood staring, mesmerized by Rizeh's eyes. Finally, she caught herself, looking away abruptly.

Rizeh thought it odd that the Madam thanked him yet at the same moment he hoped that it was because she had understood. It was still a little weird though.. A noble thanking a common boy.. He thought about what he knew of the layout of the house to distract himself, floor plans and hallways coming to mind and a few different routes that they could take to get to her classes in the study. He had taken the time to study the entire layout of the mansion before beginning his job. He took it very seriously. He was about to suggest a slightly longer route, wanting time to think about what to do with the paintings, when the Madam's eyes locked on his. He knew that it was highly punishable for someone of his status to stare so openly at a noble but he just couldn't help it.. The startling green that he had allowed himself a glimpse of earlier now captured him, immobilizing his muscles and turning them to useless jelly like the rich people had at parties and breakfasts. He thought that maybe he could stay like that forever, just gazing into those emerald green depths.. He started when the Ata-.. the Madam looked away and then thought of his own strange eye color and hung his head slightly so that his hair once again hid them from view. "Sorry.." he whispered before turning back to the door and holding for the Madam, his head still bowed. People had any number of reactions to his eyes and he feared the worst, as was usual. People very regularly did much more than call him names for his eyes, though that had died down with word of his fighting skills passing around. He didn't mean to scare people away but it was necessary to fight like he did and his eyes were far beyond his control.. Even though he tried to be friendly to people, but they still seemed afraid of him.. It was as though he carried some kind of curse...((Sorry about that, I've been really busy with school>.< ))

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► Rizeh looked... ashamed as he turned his eyes from hers. The girl sought for words to explain herself, but her insecurities seemed to dispelled them before she could grasp a single syllable. Atalaya shouldn't even be speaking to a commoner, let alone explaining herself. Her mother would be ashamed. Instead, the girl quelled her thoughts and passed through the door and into the house once more. The library was on the far end of the house, but it wouldn't take more than a moment to reach it. Along the hallway, servants were replacing the curtains to a color that better suited Lady Pearl, and none looked to pleased. The lady didn't pay well and her treatment of them was less than kind. As she walked, Atalaya couldn't help but think about those strange eyes and their owner. That color was unlike anything she could ever have dreamt up, but why had Rizeh seemed so upset when she noticed them? It was perfectly plausible that her rude staring had made him uncomfortable. The thought sent her thoughts racing. What if he were to tell Mother of her blatantly inappropriate behavior? Atalaya wasn't suppose to make eye contact with anyone, let alone the help. But then again, he had helped her with the painting. Could he really turn around and tattle on her? The dark haired girl had only known her new bodyguard for a few minutes, so it was hard to tell. The pair reached the library after a moment. The ceiling were high and stacked to the top with books. Hundreds of them. Mostly they were for decoration. Mother thought they made the family seem cultured. The entire room was themed in dark brown wood and soft pastel green. Atalaya was awfully fond of it because it reminded her of her garden. In the far corner of the room, an older man with freshly greying hair sat at a wooden table. A pair of golden wire rimmed glasses sat perched on the end of his noses and a book was lain in his lap. When the two entered the room, Professor Aurthur was a well cultured, yet harsh man. He lived alone in a small house not to far from the castle. He had never been married before and had no children, leaving him plenty of time for reading and studying. "Your late, Atalaya." His voice was low and harsh. Immediately, the girl walked swiftly to the table and stood behind the chair. "Sit." He commanded. She did so, like an obedient dog. "Open the book and begin-" The professor looked across the room at Rizeh. "Who is this?"

Rizeh was across that the Madam would say something to Lady Pearl or maybe even do something to him personally.. Instead, she surprised him by walking through the door and remaining silent as they walked to the study. What had she thought of the strange purple? Was she simply too afraid to do anything? He didn't know and he wasn't sure if he wanted to even find out.. He pushed the thoughts from his mind for the moment and carefully looked around, still keeping his eyes hidden. When they entered the study and he saw all of the books, he instantly wanted to go to the shelves and dart reading every single one. Books were such a rarity at his home and there were just so many there and they all looked nicely kept, some of them even looked brand new. He literary had to restrain himself from running over and pouring over them.
It was the elder man's voice that brought him back to reality. Rizeh hadn't even noticed him as they first came in and he reprimanded himself silently. He was supposed to be guardians the madam, not staring at a bunch of books like a distracted child. He studied the man critically while still keeping his eyes hidden. The man was obviously the Madam's Professor but he seemed to be just as harsh as Lady Pearl. It startled Rizeh when the man suddenly stopped and asked who he was. "Rizehkar Ethane Eros sir. The Madam's new guard. I assure you that I will be no trouble." he responded instantly. His voice came out strong again and he was glad for it. The Professor did not seem like one to take well to weakness.

   Atalaya "Everything has beauty,
◄◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘•◘► The elderly gentleman looked him over for a moment, and, once he was satisfied, turned his attention back to his pupil. "Open your book to page 56 and read the passage on the main page aloud." Atalaya nodded and did as she was instructed. The book was on poetry, a subject she and Professor Aurthur had been studying for quite some time now. "Oh! Snatched Away in Beauty's Bloom by Lord Byron The fair skinned girl picked out the indicated passage and began reading. Oh! snatched away in beauty's bloom, On thee shall press no ponderous tomb; But on thy turf shall roses rear Their leaves, the earliest of the year; And the wild cypress wave in tender gloom: And oft by yon blue gushing stream Shall sorrow lean her drooping head, And feed deep thought with many a dream, And lingering pause and lightly tread; Fond wretch! as if her step disturbed the dead! Away! we know that tears are vain, That death nor heeds nor hears distress: Will this unteach us to complain? Or make one mourner weep the less? And thou - who tell'st me to forget, Thy looks are wan, thine eyes are wet." The man nodded. "Slow down and use pauses more effectively. Now tell me what you think the poem is trying to convey?" Atalaya though a moment. "Someone had died... A man that a woman loved and she misses him." Professor nodded. "Amateur at best, but yes. Now continue reading." The rest of the lesson continued this way; reading, analysis, critique, more reading. Eventually, the professor dismissed his student. Th girl stood and bowed, before turning to leave.
