It was the first sunny days in weeks. At last Aemilius could go outside and work on his homework. He made his way from Hogwarts to the lake. His fellow Ravenclaws waved at him as he passed by. He gave them a quick nod and kept going. There was no time to chat today. He hoped to get his homework done so he could have time to read his books about ancient ruins. It was unfair to him that only older students could study ancient ruins but first years couldn't.
He found a nice spot on the grass, next to the lake. There was a large tree growing next to him that gave him some shade. The grass was still a little wet from raining the past few days. He was careful to make sure none of his books got wet. Before he started to work on his potions essay he tied his light red hair back in a neat pony tail.
"Perfect now I can study." He pulled out his quill and started to get to work on his essay.

"Sun, glorious sun!" Saga sung to the tune of "Food, Glorious Food," a song she had heard at a Muggle play. Skipping a bit, she wandered out of the hallways and into the sun. For what seemed like forever, it had been dreadfully murky outside! Not that it stopped her from being outside, of course, but it was a nice change of scenery! Plus, the air stopped smelling like dead fish--which was an enormous plus. There were even butterflies in the air, Saga noticed in excitement and she did a little twirl. No rain... no classes... no homework worth doing... this is perfect!
Soon enough, her skip had turned into a run. Her feet had carried her all the way down to the lake before she had even realized it. No matter, she continued to prance along, allowing the sun to warm her face. Mmm... Saga slowed a little to glance at the water. It was glistening like fairy wings! Mesmerized, Saga gawked for a few seconds, though her feet continued to move and her arms continued to sway with them.
Huh...? What was that? Saga blinked. She could've sworn she saw some sort of large dorsal fin come out of the water--and knowing Hogwarts, it could well be some sort of mermaid! Enchanted by the thought, her feet came to a stop. Well, at least they tried to! "Who-whooaaa!" Saga exclaimed, realizing that her shoes were now skidding across the wet grass, taking her with them. "AH!" Though she fought to keep her balance, it was to no avail. Soon enough, she was tumbling right towards a large tree--and the boy under it!

He hadn't noticed the girl until she fell down, he was completely absorbed in his homework. After he finished writing the sentence he was on Aemilius looked over at the fallen girl. He had hopped that it would be nice and quiet outside, but it seemed luck was not on his side. For a moment he debated about asking her if she was alright. His mother had taught him to be polite to others, but he honestly wanted to work on his homework more.
But what if his mother found out. He cringed at the thought. "Are you all right?" he asked as he set his books aside and stood up. "You should be more careful. You could have fallen into the lake and my mum told me that there are lots of dangerous monsters in there."

"Wha--uhh, yeah! I'm okay! I think..." Saga responded, hopping to her feet in a hurried manner. GAH! How embarrassing! She could feel the blood rushing to her cheeks. Hurriedly, she brushed the grass from her uniform. After she did, Saga nervously glanced up at the boy--and she recognized him! He was the one from Ravenclaw with the pretty hair that Saga had been noticing since the beginning of the year... Of all people, why did it have to be him!? she groaned to herself, more heat flooded to her face. She wasn't quite sure why, but she hated the fact that it was him! Of all the thousand or so students at hogwarts, whyyyyy him!? PUEY!
In an attempt to regain her composure, Saga brushed a piece of her hair back and began to talk. "Ah, my grandma said the same--well, actually... she said that there were some interesting creatures in the lake... Not that they were dangerous--but when it's her, it basically means the same thing! Grandma Huldah is a bit off her rocker!" Saga admitted, noticing that she was acting like quite the spazz. She was talking way to fast--but for some reason, butterflies had taken over her stomach and she was feeling quite light-headed. It's probably from the fall...

"Huldah? I've heard that name before. I think my mum mentioned her once before." He said more to himself than to Saga. He glanced at her. She was in Gryffindor he noticed. He was wondering why her face was turning red. Falling wasn't that embarrassing was it. Maybe she had some kind of illness that caused her face to turn red. He decided to ignore it.
Aemilius tried to remember if he had a class with her. He swore he recognized her from someplace. "Are you in one of my classes?" He finally asked. As he said it he remember he had yet to introduce himself. "My name is Aemilius by the way."
Manners manners manners! If his mother saw him misbehaving he would be disowned!

Saga was petrified when the pretty boy repeated her grandma's name. OH!!! Why had she said that!? Of course people would know who her grandma was! She was a famous seer! And a Ravenclaw would most definitely know! He was in RAVENCLAW, for Pete's sake! DUMB! DUMB! DUMB! She chanted to herself, biting down on her lip as if to clamp her mouth shut. Then, swallowing loudly, Saga tried her best to cover up her slip--"Er--yeah. It's quite the common name, y'know!" She shrugged, suddenly pretending to find the tree next to them infinitely more interesting.
She could've hugged the boy when he continued on to another topic--obviously he hadn't thought of her cover up too much... "Oh? Do we have a class together?" Saga rambled on in a flush, trying to distance herself from the topic of her grandma. It wasn't that she had anything against her grandma, however, if he found out who Grandma Huldah was, he would most definitely be all up in her face about being a potential seer and that was the last thing Saga wanted at the moment. Having the Inner Eye was so dumb, she didn't realize why so many people wanted it... "Mmm... I don't know--haha, I tend to sit up in the front of the class...'cuz I tend to get in trouble... So you could be in one of mine and I would be none the wiser!" Saga went on, laughing nervously.
"OH--Sorry! My name is Saga! I've seen you around the school quite a bit, Aemilius, or rather you just tend to stand out a bit more!" Saga rushed on, not quite understanding that what she was saying could be taken as extremely rude or vague. "I've always wanted to talk to you!" Saga went on, unintentionally digging her grave deeper.

She caused trouble in class? How odd. He didn't think she really looked like the trouble making type. "What type of trouble do you get into? Nothing too horrible I suspect." There were other kids he knew that went out of their way to make the teachers and sometimes fellow students lives a bit more exciting with the pranks they did. It was hard to image grouping Saga with them.
Her comment about him sticking out surprised him. Compared to his fellow students he thought himself rather dull. The only thing interesting about him was that he and his mother traveled around a lot because she was a writer who wrote about other wizarding cultures. Perhaps he just had a certain air about him.
"It is nice to meet you." He held his hand out. There now he was being a boy his mother would be proud of! He smiled at her as charmingly as he could. "You could have talked to me sooner. I don't bite, though if you annoy me too much I might just have to curse you." He tried to say the last part jokingly but had a bit of difficulty with it, causing it to sound more like a threat.

Urk! Why did I have to bring that up! Aemilius was in Ravenclaw! He was probably one of the best kids in the school, taking from the fact he had decided to study in his free time under a tree (something that Saga had just noticed he was doing). If she told him the truth, he would probably think she was some sort of female barbarian! Iron-clad bra and all! Horrified, she immediately mellowed out the trouble she made in class before telling him, "I... end up... Um... sleeping so the teachers make sure I'm up in the front so they can smack me with something every so often!" Saga gave a giggle, hoping that her white-lie would pass off without any questions. It was true that she slept in class, but it was also true that when she wasn't skipping, she was finding obscure ways to amuse herself--many of those ways consisted of annoying the teacher.
Thankfully, he went on to hold on his hand. "Oh!" Saga exclaimed, obviously forgetting to do that. She quickly reached out and shook his head heartily. "It's nice to meet you too!" She admitted sheepishly, a boyish grin on her face.
"Psshh, I'm not afraid of no curses!" Saga exclaimed, hoping that he would realize her grammar mistake was intentional. "Though... try not to hit the face! I can't use my puppy-eyes if it's all messed up!" And she did indeed have to use those eyes quite a bit! It was getting to the point where the teachers were becoming invulnerable to it. "Pluuuus," she added, batting her eyelashes in a exaggeratedly girlish manner, "I've been told it's my best feature--and since I obviously don't have a future in academics, I thought I could at least make myself a trophy wife or something!" Of course, Saga was joking, though aspiring to be a trophy wife didn't sound that bad!

Aemilius let out a laugh, something he didn't do too often. "I sleep sometimes in class too, just not long enough to get caught. I only sleep in the really boring classes. Like potions and transfiguration. The only class that really interest me is History of Magic." He knew he was one of the only students who could stay awake in the class but that didn't bother him. He honestly couldn't figure out why anyone would ever want to sleep in that. "I can't wait to take ancient ruins. It is unfair that first years can't take it."
At first he was a bit confused about her grammar. Up until this point she was speaking correctly. He wondered what had changed. As she talked some more Aemilius started to take her too seriously. He took his hand back and put it on his hips in a almost disapproving manner. "I think you deserve to be more than a trophy wife. Wouldn't it be a bit boring? If you're having a problem with academics I can help you out."
He realized as soon as he said this that he was being rude and a bit controlling. He hated watching people who had the ability to make something of themselves not take advantage of it. "I'm sorry it really isn't my place to say such things." He tilted his head downward. It almost felt like he was being scolded by his mother. "But if you need help with anything the offer still stands."

After Aemilius had finished talking, Saga could only just blink at him for several seconds in awe. He hadn't caught on to anything she had been telling him! A large blush appeared on her cheeks, Saga felt horribly ashamed. He seemed to have a bad impression of her now which, for some reason, upset her quite a bit! "I was... joking." She tried to explained, the smile and gleam in her eyes were wiped from her face, leaving a rather stale and flustered expression. And he had scolded her, no less! The shame, the horrible shame! Saga wanted to bury her face in her hands and rid herself of the embarrassing atmosphere. Some first impression... I better make a note not to joke with him too much--if he even bothers to talk to me after this. A part of her was sulking, she had been so excited to talk to Aemilius but it was all fudged up now! Not to mention, Saga felt like even though she explained to him that she was joking, he would take it as her weaseling her way out of the scolding he had given her. "I'm doing fine in my classes..." She muttered, the ferocious color still on her face.
Well, this was just lame. Saga did her best to keep the sour expression from her face. "Um, so I'm sorry to bother you," she started, finding it easier to try and escape from the conversation entirely since he didn't seem too keen about her. Leaving was better than having him give her that look of disapproval (which made Saga's blood boil and gut wrench, by the way) again. "I guess I'll see you already sometime?" She responded lamely and made a move to leave.
However, she was so focused on her escape that she wasn't looking where she stepped so when Saga turned to leave, stubbing her foot on rock. "OW!" She yelped, hopping back on her uninjured foot. "Ow, ow ow!" The pain seared from her big toe and radiated around the entire foot, and taking from the stinging feel of things, it felt like her toe was bleeding somewhere. "Ack," Saga grabbed her foot with her hands and brought it up, only to quickly lose balance and fall right into where Aemilius was standing. "Ah!"

He stared at her, blinking again and again. It was a joke? How could he not catch that? He shook his head in disgust. Was he really that simple to not be able to catch a silly joke like that. He had to admit that he was relived that she was joking. "I'm glad you are only joking. You really had me going there for a moment."
He felt a little sick watching her as she was about to leave. Was it his fault that she was leaving? Aw well he could get back to his school work now. Perhaps he could get some done before dinner time. After looking around he noticed most of the students were heading inside.
The moment she yelled ow she had his full attention. He should have known that having some peace would not come easily. "Are you o-" He started to say when Saga fell into him. This caused him to also fall backwards onto the ground. "Are you always this clumsy." He asked some what jokingly.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry--I don't know why I'm such a klutz today! I'm usually not like this!" Saga exclaimed, blushing furiously when she found herself slightly atop of Aemilius. "Are you--are you okay?" Saga inquired, wiggling off of him. "I'm pretty heavy--that had to hurt! Do you need to go to the infirmary?" Words just kept spewing from her mouth and an even redder blush replaced the last. I crushed him... I totally crushed him. Jeez, why did I have to eat so much for breakfast!? Saga positioned herself near the side of Aemilius, sitting down with her legs crossed, awaiting the news of whether or not she broke any of his bones or not--and knowing her luck today, he probably injured himself and it was ALL her fault.
Saga didn't know what was wrong with her! She was athletic! Not clumsy--when had she ever been clumsy before now anyway? To be honest, she didn't understand why she was so embarrassed about it either! For some reason, she couldn't just laugh it off as usual. After thinking about it some, she realized that it was probably because of Aemilius. He wasn't someone she normally hung out with--he was nothing like the Gryffindor boys! He seemed older for some reason, and not childish, y'know? Maybe that made Saga feel like she shouldn't childish--and if she did say so herself, she was doing a MARVELOUS (sarcasm) job with it.
As she sat there and thought, her stomach gave a loud growl. Saga yelped at the sound and, if it was even possible, her face would've turned a deeper shade of red. "Ah... Um..." Saga cringed before grinning sheepishly, rubbing the back of her neck with her hand. "If you're alright, would you like to go eat with me?"

Aemilius cleaned the dirt off his pants and stood up. He was okay. The way Saga was worrying about him made him feel like he was made out of porcelain. Did he really look so breakable. He knew he wasn't the most strongest guy around, but he never thought of himself as a weakling. "I am fine. There might be a cut on my leg but it will be fine. It isn't worth going to the hospital wing. In a couple days it should heal. That and I don't want to worry my mother." He did not want his mom to send him letters telling him to be safe. That would just annoy him even more.
"How about you? Are you fine? You landed pretty hard." Aemilius asked as he grabbed his books off the ground. He examined to make sure that they weren't dirty. If they got dirty he would probably have a freak out moment. He hated his books getting dirty or ruined in any way. His books seemed fine so he put them back in his bag.
It startled even him when Saga's stomach growled. He looked at Saga's face and saw that it became even redder. He decided it must have been because of her lack of food. He wasn't particularly hungary, though he rarely was. After thinking about it for a moment he thought it best to go with her incase she fell down again. "Yea, I will eat with you."

"Sweet--I wonder what they're serving today!" Saga exclaimed, rejuvenated by his agreement to eat with her. As she scampered up to the trail, she was incredibly careful of her step, wishing to avoid yet another accident involving her clumsy feet. Once she was on the trail, she turned to look back to make sure Aemilius was following her. As she did, she noticed several books piled in his hands. "Want me to carry one of those for you?" Saga inquired, seeing as all her hands were empty--grass stained from the fall, but empty none the less.
"Hey Sagaaaa! DUCK!" She heard a voice yell from the left of her. Though she had no idea what was going on, she complied and immediately dropped to the ground. There was the sound of something whizzing by above her head.
"What kind of madness is this?!" Saga exclaimed, whipping her head to the right to see what had flown over her. It looked like a water balloon... Standing up, she turned around and glared at her fellow Gryffindor. "Now, what was that for, you rascal?" She inquired, grinning. "If you're going to try to hit me, it makes no sense to tell me to duck, dummy."
The boy just grinned sheepishly at her, "It wasn't me--YOUCH!" He was interrupted by the water balloon flying back and pelting him on the back of the head. It splattered, leaving Saga speckled with water. "We managed to charm these balloons--y'see? And Johnson just turned on me!" Saga rolled her eyes. Of course, of course. Just as she did, she spotted a balloon flying overhead. She followed its path forward with her eyes and then dread soon overcame her.
"Aemilius! MOVE!" Saga exclaimed, jumping forward. It looked like the water balloon was going straight towards his books!

Aemilius looked at his books. He did have quite a few books and it would be helpful to have someone else carry a couple of them. He just hoped she wouldn't fall down or drop them. "You can carry these two," he said as he handed her his two least favorite books. "Thanks."
He saw the Gryffindor who had yelled duck. What the heck was going on? When he saw the water balloon he rolled his eyes. Sometimes he couldn't believe how immature some people were. He hoped that they would be careful and not get his books wet.
He watched as Saga talked to her fellow Gryffindor. It was interesting seeing her with her fellow Gryffindor. It was almost like she was a different person.
When she told him to move he looked up to see the water balloon. If he ever met the person who charmed those balloons he would make sure to get back at them if a single one of his books got wet. He decided, last minute, that the best thing to do was to dive to the ground. His books flew out of his hands and hit the ground.
"I think my books are alright." He muttered looking at his fallen books. "Thanks for the warning. I don't know what I would do if I got my books wet." He stood up and started picking up his books. Most of them were dirty, but he could clean them up fairly easily.
