http://53rg10.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/spring_2011.jpghttp://randomc.net/2011/03/18/spring-2011-preview/ There's the link to the brief descriptions of what is up this season. The second one goes a bit more into depth about what is up for the season and has links to trailers and such. So far, the ones that look most interesting to me are Deadman Wonderland and the X-Men series (not that I necessarily expect the X-men thing to be the best, but it could be funny.) Those are the main two that stood out. I might back Kaiji, as was mentioned previously, but I still haven't seen the first season. Time to burn the heretic, I know, but I'll get to it eventually. Possibly Dog Days, since it's by the writer/director of Nanoha and people here were quite fond of that as well, as I recall.

I was looking at Deadman or Sengoku Otome, but then I started seeing s**t like 2500 and 2515 for air times, and freaked the ******** out.
Also, anyone who doesn't at least consider putting down Toriko needs to reevaluate their stance.

I'm backing X-men on this one. Just saw the first episode. It lived up to my expectations and then some. Anyone else see it yet?

ERA718 I'm backing X-men on this one. Just saw the first episode. It lived up to my expectations and then some. Anyone else see it yet? I did. It was interesting, so I'm willing to keep going. My only complaint is that the beginning of the episode reminded me of Wolverine and the X-Men (the whole bit with Jean/Phoenix), and it's not really a complaint. More like commentary on the similarities.

Deadman looks the most interesting to me, but I've only had a chance to skim. Unfortunately, finding time to do much of anything right now is not so easy. sad I would still like to give it a try, though.

I checked out X-Men as it sounded interesting, and yeah. It certainly looks as if it could be. Now that I am minus ladyfriend and thus have lots of free time I'd be happy to partake in some watchalong.

My two nominations are Toriko and Tiger & Bunny.
I'm going to be watching a fair number of shows this season though, and I'll be happy to discuss em with whoever.
So far I've checked out the first eps of Xmen (not bad), Dog Days (a lot different than what I thought it would be, but Ninja Warriors game show style battles in place of actual wars are an interesting notion), Nichijou (this s**t is some serious SHAFT style randomness, it reminds me a lot of the more mellow moments from Pani Poni Dash... I'll probably continue), Hanasaku Iroha (a strong contender for one of my nominations, but I think at least a few of us will be watching and commenting on it nonetheless), and Sengoku Otome (also billed by some groups as Battle Maidens - Time Paradox or Battle Girls - Time Paradox... I enjoyed Koihime Mousou, and also like the Sengoku era, and don't mind that this is a bit more serious than Koihime Mousou. Also, hot anime chicks.).
I also aim to at least check out the first episodes of Steins, Hidan no Aria, A-Channel (I'm pretty sure I'll continue watching this one), Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (cute and loopy girl who thinks she's half-alien? Sure!), Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san (actually, I watched the pilot episode a few months back and I'm sure I'll be watching this entirely), Ao no Exorcist (kinda skeptical here, but why the hell not), C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control, and Deadman Wonderland.
I'll be watching the ******** out of Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera unless the show bores the s**t outta me (unlikely). Because Go Nagai.

First episode of X-Men was pretty fun. It's going to take me a while to get used to the Japanese voices as opposed to the ones in my head from the old X-Men cartoon, but I'm sure I'll survive. I like a lot of the character designs and how they adapt the typical costumes and looks into their own style. The Engrish for some of the names, not quite as fond of, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. Or it won't, and it'll just continue to be quite conspicuous.
That being said, I will be really quite disappointed if we don't get a terrible Engrish "Oh my stars and garters" from Beast. XD On that note, I actually wonder how big of fans the fansubbers are of the X-Men series, because there were a few things I noticed where I'm not sure if it was necessarily directly what was in the Japanese dialogue, but it fit a lot of the characters as they are in the comics.
Definitely going to download the next episode and give it a watch tomorrow.

Wolverine's "Charlie" rather than "Chuck" threw me pretty hard. It isnt' bad, but little things in ep 2 like Cyke using the ridiculous little arsenal mounted on his bike rather than, idunno, his OPTIC ******** BLASTS were annoying.
This version of Storm is pretty hot, but I've gotta say that she feels the character least true to their original.

Well, they had him use the bike so they could sell the toy, obviously. XD
And yeah, the Charlie thing also struck the wrong note for me. I do wonder why they didn't just go with Chuck, since it wouldn't be any harder. Guess they just didn't do the research on that one.
As for Storm, I see what you mean (about her not acting like she should. Definitely already noticed that this version's hot. XD). Watching episode 2, I was trying to place who it was that she was acting most like as opposed to Storm, but I wasn't really coming up with an X-Man who the personality she's showing fits. I guess maybe it's a bit like Shadowcat at certain points or with certain people, but that doesn't seem right either.

Okay, I saw the third episode of X-men and while it was good, I have some gripes with it:
-Storm is being portrayed as way too weak. -The U-Man group is feeling like a rehashed Empty Seven group from Afro Samurai and I am leaning towards it being a bad thing but only time will tell. -No Emma Frost doing the crystal transformation. Yes, I know she's a powerful telepath, it's been established already. Get to her tough as nails skin.

ERA718 Okay, I saw the third episode of X-men and while it was good, I have some gripes with it: -Storm is being portrayed as way too weak. I'm a little behind and just finished watching episode 2, but I have to agree with you. Storm is way too weak. I mean, this is a woman who can cause hurricanes when she's PMSing if she doesn't keep control, and a little bit of lightning makes her almost pass out? Come on Japan! I know you guys are fawning over Wolverine and emo Scott, but for crying out loud, don't nerf Storm's powers. Storm's my favorite X-Men, can't you tell? lol And yes, I am still of the opinion that this Scott is acting pretty much like Scott in the Wolverine and the X-Men series. Emo. Edit: Just saw episode 3...and I am seriously unhappy with what they've done to Storm's powers. Seriously unhappy.

Xmen is up to three episodes of consistently phoning it in as of this week.
Tiger & Bunny, another show about superheros (and without decades of writing and shittons of writing, editing, and financial resources behind it), is up to three episodes of consistently being not only the best show this season, but outdoing itself as of the week before.
Coincidence? Or mutant awesome-leeching powers? You be the judge.
Hanasaku Iroha persists at being cute and dramatic without being overly preachy or melodramatic. Sengoku Otome persists at being a great guilty pleasure (though not so heavy on the guilt as the Koihime Mousou franchise)... dat Oda Nobunaga, man. Dororon Enma-Kun is pretty fun too, and pushes the classic Go Nagai vibe for all it's worth. Dog Days and Denpa are both good fun so far too.
Lastly, I don't think anyone here is following it, but I was delighted to find out that Beelzebub wasn't just going to be a 13 show series. They just changed the op/ed at ep 12 and the various named delinquents are getting a bit more screen time, and more episodes where they are more central to things.

So, finally got around to watchin X-men episode 4. It was pretty damn good. Highlights for me were: -Mentioning Legion. That was definitely an easter egg even if it was a weird one. -Beast doing what he does best: Science. -Witnessing a X-Gene burnout. Didn't think they would show a mutant burn itself out in this series. -Emma FINALLY using her crystalline form.
However, I still have that one complaint of storm being utterly useless. Damn it, she's not a background character Japan. She's led the team before at countless times. Show her a tiny bit more respect.
I was meaning to check out Tiger and Bunny but I need to check it out when my sister is not around running her damn mouth every 10 seconds.

I feel bad for anyone not watching Tiger & Bunny. Every episode is even better than the last and they're not afraid to let every hero be their own flavor of awesome.
