User Image"A mouse of ambition is capable of anything..."

History: Born the eldest of four and the only boy, Tristan grew up learning the father's trade as a merchant. From his wide-eyed youth he assisted his father in procuring goods and trading them with partners across the river in Woodhaven, where more local and hard-to-come-by items were received and spread amongst the Fleuvians. His father was a quiet mouse and an influential businessmouse in his own right, but Tristan always hungered for more.

Tristan had an eye toward the finer quality of merchandise. While some may be satisfied in the trading of pots and beads for silks and seeds, Tristan set his sights on items of a more unique nature: rare, magical artifacts; historical items of immense power; amazing potions and deadly weapons. That only a very tiny fraction (if any) of his wares actually fell into these categories is no deterrent; the little charlatan was more than happy in hawking wares of questionable origin. It's all in the approach, after all.

He was at this for awhile before fortune fell in his lap: a very curiously intelligent and terribly energetic ladybug appeared in his house, and once Tristan had managed to keep him from destroying it, he befriended him. The bug's name is Clancy, and he formed the cornerstone of Tristan's most successful business enterprise: the bug circus.

Tristan's slowly been working from the ground up to build his circus. He performs magic acts between the bug's acrobatic wonders, and works tirelessly to find new bugs, train new acts, and make the circus bigger and better. The circus is in Mossflower, but during the off-season while he's training he retires to Fleuve. It is, after all, best to leave a little room for appetite amongst a hungry audience.

(Tristan has not, however, abandoned his tendency to sell items of dubious origins. In fact it's not too surprising to see him milling around in the crowd after a performance trying to trade artifacts with his fans)

Personality: Smart and smooth-talking, with a keen eye towards business and as opportunistic as they come. He's still young, yet, and eager to prove himself in the world by any means necessary. He's not bloodthirsty or ruthless, or "evil" by any means...but he's not precisely a moral upstanding citizen, either. His notion of ethics gets a bit fuzzy once commerce is introduced.

Charming and attractive, Tristan is easy to like and he knows all the right things to say to favor good graces in others -- he has to, seeing as he's a weak little thing who's nearly useless in a fight. He's loyal to his friends for so long as they remain useful to him, but sees nothing wrong with abandoning his relations for greater opportunity; indeed, he expects all creatures to follow these same rules of action, and would be extremely confused by any deeper-seated nobility. In Tristan's world, everything has a price, and one would be a fool not to exploit the opportunity to make a profit.

Aside from his business-sense, Tristan possesses a delicate ego and will do nearly anything to save face once he has been humiliated. He always has his eyes toward bigger and better things, and is never completely satisfied with what he has.

Career & Hobbies: Snake-oil salesman, charlatan, traveling merchant, stage magician, circus master...all of these titles and more apply to the little mouse. He spends much of his time scouring the riverbed for bits of human trash that he can sell as mysterious artifacts, and also works feverishly to strike deals with anyone he comes across -- it would be silly, after all, to turn away an opportunity.

In addition to his growing merchant business, Tristan is also a practicing magician operating under the stage name of "Tristan the Magnificent!" He's really rather good at it; he's been practicing simple sleight-of-hand tricks since he was a young child, and he can do numerous illusions now. He doesn't perform much, as his delicate ego makes him altogether nervous of reproach, but caught in the presence of children he might soften up a bit and do a few tricks -- or, of course, if he senses any profit in it.

Recently he's combined his business sense with his magic and incorporated it all into his ever-growing bug circus.

Current Events: After leaving his family's home to seek his fortune, Tristan fell on some unforeseen difficult times. Not knowing the first thing about building a house for himself, he scratched together a feeble excuse for a mousehole which soon ended up thoroughly flooded. Annoyed by his failing, he made a risky trip across the river to seek help in Woodhaven (and thus evade mockery by his own kin).

He's also recently come across a rather remarkable little ladybug, whom he has taken to calling "The Amazing Clancy: Acrobatic Extraordinaire". Clancy is a hyperactive, spastic little beast with a destructive habit, but Tristan knows he'll be of use somehow....

In order to raise funds for the house-building project, Tristan traveled to Mossflower with Clancy to put on an exhibition. While running the circus he came across a little hedgehog, who he adopted/employed as part of the circus team.

While in Mossflower, preparing to head back home, Tristan was approached by Zephra the orphanage-rabbit...with two young girl mice in tow, informing Tristan that they were his daughters.

Friends, Family & Foes:
Archibald Bristleback-- Tristan "adopted" the young orphan hedgehog while touring his circus in Mossflower and quickly put him to work as the crier/door-man, and for various other odd-jobs he can put him to.

Quinn Brindlebrand -- Tristan met the tough little mouse on his trip across the river to Woodhaven. The two are very different, but share certain similarities of circumstance, and Tristan senses a supreme aptitude in the vagabond that he hopes to cultivate and utilize. They could even, daresay, become friends....under the right circumstance.

Cordelia Swiftpaw -- One of Tristan's two daughters, though he didn't know that he had any children until very recently. He has absolutely no idea how to raise kids and has rather accidentally spoiled her rotten...and not in the charming way.

Tristan came across this mysterious book during his trading adventures -- and with it has learned how to increase the size of any bug he comes in contact with into a rideable beast of burden. A very useful spell, indeed.

The Bug Circus
User Image
Tristan came across the little bug scuffling around outside his ill-fated home. Amused, he invited the ladybug in for a meal...and quickly discovered that the beast was insane: hyperactive, voraciously hungry, spastic and, occasionally, loudmouthed. After Clancy ate all of Tristan's food and half-destroyed his house, Tristan realized the potential of the little insect, and set about finding a way to exploit the bug's never-ending energy.

Clancy is now a circus bug, a Performer of Amazing Acrobatic Feats, and the star performer of Tristan's routine. Tristan figures if he can't make money at that, he'll go with his backup plan: quietly slipping Clancy into somebody's home, then charging to remove the nuisance.

User Image "Do what you are afraid to do."

Personality: Archie's kind of a coward.

Well, no, that's not quite fair. He doesn't run away from danger -- he creeps right up to the very brink of it, and then stands there quivering and whimpering peeking through his fingers. Archibald is absolutely fascinated by adventure. It's just that when confronted with it, he ultimately wants for other people to have adventures and to hear about them in the warmth of his own home.

Although, hearing the stories doesn't really help much. Archibald's got the kind of overactive imagination that gives him terrible nightmares and makes stories so much more vivid. When a storyteller's telling a good yarn, Archie's the guy in the audience who screams at the scary parts. He's a bit gullible, too. Oh, he'll put on a good show of being skeptical at first, but once he's convinced of something, he'll put his faith into it 110% even when confronted with evidence to the contrary. Call it optimism, maybe, but Archie's got the kind of dangerously open mind that makes him an easy target for all sorts of abuse.

History: Archibald never knew his mother. Allandra died giving birth to three young hedgehogs, and they were raised by their father Hermen until his tragic death. They were far too young to live on their own, but just old enough for the loss to be devastating.

They ended up at the orphanage in Mossflower, and there Archibald felt himself drifting away from his siblings. He hated the orphanage. Zephra didn't seem to care much about him or any of the other kids -- not really -- and the sudden apathy when he had been used to fatherly love was heart-crushing. Worse, the other children teased him mercilessly. Archie's optimism and fearful nature made him a prime target for cruel jokes. All of his toys were lost or broken or stolen, and he barely spent time with his siblings anymore either.

One day a circus came to Mossflower. It was a small thing, not very impressive, but for Archibald it was the single most amazing thing he had ever seen. He spent all day there, watching the acrobatic ladybug do amazing tricks. When the show was over, he was surprised -- and terrified -- to be approached by the ringmaster himself, a young mouse named Tristan Swiftpaw.

The mouse, impressed with the child's enthusiasm, extended him a job offer, and Archie eagerly accepted. He'd join a life of adventure and excitement as part of a traveling circus, taking payment at the door and helping to advertise. And the best part was he didn't have to live in the orphanage anymore. The hedgehog eagerly accepted, and found himself part of a very strange family.

Current Events: After being "adopted" by Tristan, the hedgehog is currently helping his new boss get word out about the circus, raising money so the mouse could rebuild his house. Soon they'll move back to Fleuve.

(unofficial, RP item) -- Wooden fish painted blue & orange, carved by Lirian. Archie's only possession.

Archie purchased this item in his first (and perhaps only) act of rebellion. Pooling together all of the corks he had earned, he purchased the vial of liquid luck...and now believes it will keep him protected at all times. He refuses to ever tell Tristan he has it.

Personality: Big hearted and earnest, Tabitha is the kind of creature to throw herself whole-heartedly and fanatically into a cause, perhaps without thinking too critically about it. You can't blame her for it. How would a lonely orphan learn skepticism in her childhood?

Tabitha is especially sensitive to the pain and suffering of those in the world. Every time she witnesses injustice or hardship, her heart breaks a little. Unfortunately, she's also characterized by a certain diffidence that makes it hard for her to go out and be the sort of heroic figure she wishes she could be. Instead, she's more apt to nag and pry and be a bit of an insistent mess. She's a know-it-all and a tattle-tale and can come off as a bit holier-than-thou -- and that's before she became a Treebeast.

The thing with Tabitha is that on top of her big heart and her optimistic love of the world, in her heart she's still holding on to a deep-seated anxiety. Perhaps it's a lack of confidence, or some sort of anxiety disorder...but Tabitha is a bit of a control freak, and takes very poorly to change.

History: Born one of two sisters to an ill-fated match, Tabitha never got the chance to meet her parents. She grew up at Zephra's orphanage with her sister Ellie, never quite fitting in with the others. Oh, she wasn't teased or anything -- she was just a very boring child, and not very easy to make friends with. She was always the one tattling on the others, the one lecturing about following rules. She was a know-it-all and bossy and tended to talk too much.

She didn't mind not having any friends so badly. In fact, sometimes it didn't even seem like she noticed -- she'd still talk to anybody who came close, if it seemed likely that they'd listen. She really wasn't a bad beast. She genuinely cared about others, deep down, and if she could just get over her obsessive need to control the world around her maybe she could've relaxed and made some friends....

One day, though, Tabitha found her calling.

A missionary from Sunhedge came to Mossflower, preaching the good word of the Great Tree, and Tabitha was immediately entranced by his words. She became obsessed with the teachings and tried to rouse the same enthusiasm in her peers. When that failed, she began to seriously consider leaving Mossflower in search of her own path toward enlightenment.

Ellie's sudden departure sealed the deal. With no ties left to hold her down, Tabitha set out to find her spiritual path.

Current Events: Tabitha is currently in the process of trying to move to Sunhedge to be with the Treebeasts...a rather difficult task, come to find out.

Friends, Family & Foes:
Ellie -- Like night and day these sisters are, yet Tabitha loves her deep down and will not let her leave her life permanently, no matter what choices her sister might make. In fact, Tabby's still holding out hope that she could put her sister on a straighter path....

Roland -- a fellow orphan runaway, Tabitha vaguely knows Roland from their time at Zephra's. They reunited while lost in the deserts of Hallowmarl.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."I'm Daddy's little princess, and I know it."
Personality: Prissy, sassy, and girly, Cordelia is the epitome of the "girly girl". She'd much rather pick flowers and play tea party than get dirty or roughhouse, and if forced into doing something she doesn't want to do, she can throw an amazing temper tantrum. She's a little spoiled, seeing as Daddy's trying so hard to make up for not being in her life at all, but as Tristan doesn't know the first thing about parenting, she's growing up with very strange and arbitrary rules. Mostly, she's learned at an early age that if she cries and screams enough, she'll get what she wants.

And Cordelia wants a LOT.

Somehow she seems to have inherited her father's self-serving confidence, but rather than be enterprising like he is and work for a living, Cordelia is much more keen to have things provided for her by others. She's an expert liar, a master of fake crying, and as she gets older her powers of manipulation only manage to grow. She's a little princess, after all, and she'll make very sure that everybody knows it.

Oh, don't get her wrong -- she's not an insufferable brat all the time. When she's happy, she's really quite charming to be around.

History: Tristan never knew that he was a father, and truth be told he still doesn't quite believe it. The girls may have white fur (in part) and red eyes, but that doesn't necessarily make them his! Unfortunately, he'll never know the truth. Poor Millie got the raw end of an encounter with some or another beastie, and the girls' grandfather didn't have the energy to care for the little ones anymore -- so they ended up dropped off at the front door of Tristan's very own circus.

Cordelia and her sister were quite young when they were re-introduced to Daddy, but old enough that things didn't necessarily go very smoothly at first.

For one, Tristan doesn't know the first thing about children. For another, Cordelia hates the circus. Bugs? YUCK! While it might be the dream of some to run off and join the circus, Cordelia can't even wait to get away from it.

Current Events:

Friends, Family & Foes:
Millie -- Cordelia's now-deceased mother. Deep in her heart she does miss her, although she tries quite hard to pretend she doesn't even remember her.

Tristan -- Cordelia's recently-discovered father. She doesn't know if she likes him yet.

Clancy -- The star act of Tristan's bug circus, Clancy gets to live inside the house and is treated like one of the family. Cordelia hates him and often thinks about what would happen if he mysteriously went missing one night....

Archibald -- Something like a mix of "big brother" and "permanent babysitter", Archie is an older child hedgehog who works for Tristan at the circus. Cordelia spends a lot of time with him. She hasn't quite decided how she feels about him yet, either, but he seems OK enough.
