This journal is made of shimmering glass, bound in ornate gold and leather. The pages are clear, but the writing is still legible if you squint, and when you look through the journal, the world is in sharper focus, no matter how many pages are in between. However, it is delicate, you you handle it with care- though the thick glass won't break if you drop it, without proper cleaning, it's prone to getting scratches and fingerprints.
Still, what marvelous glass!

10.10.10
You sit inside, protected and comfortable as the weather rages outside. The evening meal is on the table, and you're filled with an intense feeling of well-being.
Your mind veers, against your will, to the dying creature that you had come across. It certainly wouldn't be comfortable tonight. What are you thinking? It's probably already long gone. But...what if it isn't?
What's it actually like outside? Do you go in search of the Herald? What do you bring to make it more comfortable, if so? Do you even find it?

Name: Tanis Ariah Wheelwright Alias: Tani, Nissy, Dumplin' Age: Messenger Reborn Gender: Female Race: Herald Sacrifice: Monocle - It used to belong to Charsi's great grandfather, Brigadier Phineas Wheelwright. Charsi was extremely close to her great grandfather, idolizing him as a hero. It was him who inspired her to try and become an airpilot. She's carried his monocle with her throughout her airship training, both for good luck and as a reminder of why she's working so hard. Birthdate: 9/1/10, Reborn 10/17/10 Sign/Omen: Libra / Balance / I Discern / Venus Current Residence: Barton Town Birth Place: Reborn in Barton Hometown: The skies? Titles/Honorifics: None Yet Profession:Too Young Hobby: Building small gadgets, gizmos, and trinkets. Or trying to, anyways.
Personality: Tanis is a very quiet, austere child. She doesn't believe in foolish, frivolous things such as filling her free-time with nonsensical playing. She'd much rather tuck herself away in the bay window overlooking the nearby mechanist workshop, studying the craft by observing it or reading a book to broaden her mental horizons. She believes that all available free-time should be put to bettering one's self or to doing something productive. When not reading or observing the world from her window, she's quietly tinkering with cogs and gears, teaching herself to build things through experimentation.
Tanis is very much a homebody. If she's out somewhere that isn't the comfort of the studio apartment, chances are she isn't there by choice. She finds socializing awkward due to her quiet and stern nature, and is usually in a rush to get home. Though, if she finds someone she can hold an intellectual conversation with, she starts to forget her unease. Eventually, with time, she might grow more comfortable with the outside world and with socializing, but only time will tell. Likes: Her Home, the Barlowes', Observing People From Her Window, Sketching Ideas, Trying to Build Said Ideas, Reading, Hard Candies Dislikes: Going Outside, Leaving the Safety of the Pawnshop, Dogs, Chocolate, Gravel Goals: To Learn About the World Around Her Life's Ambition: Undetermined Fears: Dogs, Closed Closet Doors, and Heights Crippling Fear: Dogs

Name: Charsi Isabelle Wheelwright Alias: None Age: 20 Gender: Female Race: Follower of the Overseer Birthdate: June 7th Sign/Omen: Gemini / I Think / Mercury / Twins Current Residence: Barton Town Birth Place: Isle de Gambino Hometown: Isle de Gambino Titles/Honorifics: None Profession: Part-Time Pawnshop Clerk Hobby: Learning How to Pilot Airships, Reading About Airships and Flight, Daydreaming
Personality: Charsi Wheelwright; Charsi is an airship pilot-in-training who works part time in a local pawn shop. The pay isn't the best, and money is usually tight in her household. She's currently boarding in a small studio apartment above the pawn shop, but hopes to get a house (and maybe a shop) of her own once she starts making money as a pilot. But, for now, she's earthen-bound.
Charsi is very much a day dreamer, often drifting off mid-sentence to envision an idea or to picture something. She doesn't have the best work ethics, and is constantly being told to get back to work. It's not that she doesn't like working, she just keeps finding interesting baubles and knickknacks among the shelves she's supposed to be facing and arranging. She's very curious, and on more than one occasion has gotten into trouble for taking something apart to see how it works. Likes: Airships, Pilots, Memories of her Great-Grandfather, Goggles, Examining Blueprints, Attempting to Fly Airships Dislikes: Crashing Said-Airships, Rainy Days, Grumpiness, and Pickles Goals: To LearnHow To Fly an Airship, To Gain Her "Wings", and To Learn How To Knit Life's Ambition: To Become a Professional Airship Pilot Fears: Crashing, Working in a Cubicle Somewhere, Fire Crippling Fear: Fire

Name: Clementine Loraine Wheelwright Relationship: Grandmother: "Granma Clem" About: Clementine is a sweet, but serious, woman. If she says to arrive at noon, she doesn't mean a few minutes before or after. She means you better be at her doorstep at noon. She's very precise and thorough in all she says and does. Naturally, her and Tanis get along wonderfully. Clem used to work as a seamstress, but eventually had to retire from her beloved job due to an advancing case of rheumatoid arthritis. She still tries her best to keep sewing, even if its not as much as she used to do. Name: Murphy Walter Wheelwright Relationship: Grandfather: "Granpa Murphy" About: Murphy is still the same mischievous prankster he was of his youth. He's always in good humor, and loves picking on his wife, using her persnickety nature to his advantage. He's a rather ingenious inventor on the rare occasions he decides to work. Once upon a time, he used to be a wizard-for-hire. Now, he's happy entertaining his granddaughter with card tricks and small magical feats. ((He still likes dressing the part, though. )) Name: Ernesto Thomas Wheelwright Relationship: Uncle: "Uncle Ernie" About: Ernesto is Charsi's older brother. He isn't around much, considering he runs a merchant ship. But, when he does manage to swing by for a visit, he always has new gizmos and knickknacks for his baby sister and her daughter. Ernie is a pretty laid back guy. While his sister looks more like Clementine, he got their mother's work ethic, though he got a perchant for pranks from his father. (( His crew's learned to be weary of offered cans of peanuts. ))

The small, rickety building lays on the corner of Kaebury Street among the older section of Barton. The old, aged brick has faded from it's bright red color to a dull, rustish brown. While it may seem old and dilapidated, the building still holds a spark of life within it. The handpainted sign above the doors proudly display the name: "Barlowes' Pawnshoppe". Above the sign is a large bay window, decorated with wrought iron curls. On most days, the form of a child can be spotted from behind the gauzy curtains, peeking out into the outside world. (( More on the Pawnshoppe and related characters coming as soon as I finish the sketches ))

The garage stood proudly across the street from the pawnshop, the brass findings and corners glinting in the sunlight. Inside, the sounds of grinding and cutting metal filled the air, mimicking the sound of music as the workers within worked at a similar tempo. Laughter could be heard as well, weaving through the sounds of the employees hard at work. The huge skylight that took the place of a ceiling was opened, letting the warm sunlight in uhindered. (( More coming on the Mechanist Shop and related characters when I finish the sketches. ^^; ))

Effective 7.6.10: All NON PROMPT journal entries are now worth 1/2 the requirement of an RP playdate.
Fallen Messenger - Messenger Reborn --- Journal Set-up Complete :: because different people have different ideas as to what constitutes a journal, the way this will be determined is to have the owner PM a message to the Herald mule stating that they have finished setting up their journal. Basics should be done, having some reserved posts is okay. --- 2 Standard Prompts :: There are two (2) standard prompts for this stage.
Messenger Reborn - Child --- 2 Standard Prompts :: There are two (2) standard prompts for this stage --- 5 RP Playdates :: Defined below
Child - Teen --- 2 Standard Prompts :: There are two (2) standard prompts for this stage --- 10 RP Playdates :: Defined below
Teen - Adult --- 2 Prompts :: There is one (1) standard prompt, and one (1) unique prompt --- 15 RP Playdates :: Defined below
Adult/Teen - Breed --- 2 Prompts :: There is one (1) standard prompt, and one (1) unique prompt in order to breed --- RP Playdates :: At discretion of the staff and artists... we will contact the owners
Adult - Mystery Stage? --- 2 Prompts :: same as breeding requirements --- 100 RP Playdates :: Because no one has reached this stage, or even come close.... this is still undecided. But, as this is a rare stage, expect it to be pretty exclusive
*RP Playdate: There are three options to fulfill one RP playdate. They are as follows: 1. RPing with someone else. It can be in groups, it can be with one person. As long as you RP at least 6 posts, it counts. It is per thread per time IC. For example, if you are RPing with someone else in the "Our Town" thread, and it last seven days IRL, but IC it is one day, it counts as one RP no matter how many times you post. 2. Prompt Think-Tank. There is a thread in the guild that has a whole bunch of prompts for you to complete in your Herald's journal if you so choose. Some of them will be age-specific, and some will be open for all ages. But, unless the prompt can apply to many things (i.e. holidays), you can only use a prompt ONCE. 3. Participate in an event. The event itself will define what is required in order to get credit

Home is the place your heart resides Home is the place that you decide Home is the womb that holds the soul Home is the place where one is whole
Home is the glow you hold in your eye Home is the emotion that makes you cry Home is safe and a place of peace Home is where all strivings cease
Home is protective against the others Home is full of sisters and brothers Home is where you find your rest Home is where you feel your best
Home is a memory that follows your being Home is a dream for those agreeing Home is the place where reserves fall Home is the place you yearn to call
Home is where the family meets Home is a place of restful retreats Home is the place you know you’ll be heard Home is the pace where nothing blurs
Home is all these wonderful things Home is the place you develop wings Home is the place that you’ll find one day Home is the place where your heart will stay
