Alucard sat at the edge of the cliff that overlooked the beach below. He closed his eyes as a cool breeze blew past him, listening to the trees sway. He took comfort in the peace that he has found in this remote island.

It had been ten years since he had been banished from the main lands because of an omen the mainlanders all feared. Ever since birth he had been singled out due to an unusual birthmark that ran across his face. though he had done nothing to deserve the harsh treatment from others, he knew that they feared the omen, and lived a life as outcast, moving from place to place, hiding in the shadows. Because of his life on the mainland, he grew to love this remote island, far from others, far from the cruel treatment and hatred. The forest was always calm, at times he thought he could hear the forests voice whisper joyous melodies, only to wake up in the middle of the night as the wind blew through his small hand-made hut near the cliff side.

On the island his daily routine would be to gather food for the day, a task that way rather easy as the forest was lush with tropical fruits, nuts and small creatures. He would then make any necessary repairs to his hut, which was usually re-thatching the roof with new banana leaves to keep the frequent heavy rain out. he would then go out and explore more of the island to find new locations of food, and to see if there is anyone else on the island. On one of his explorations he found the ruins of an old village near the northern shore of the island, but it had long been abandoned, left to the forest to reclaim. Within the ruin he had found some tools that he collected and took back to his hut, repairing whichever tools were in need.

At the time of his banishing, the world had been through a 50 year war leveling most of the major city's, leaving many of their dwellers homeless, causing them to become nomads moving from place to place to find refuge, weather it be a place that had ample food supply or just a place to call there own.
The governments that had funded the wars were long dissolved as there citizens fell into a disparate state that they could not help prevent. The technology that had once sustained millions was now useless, turned into scrap-metal re-forged into primitive tools for farming and hunting.
Few citizens of the main land knew how to fend for themselves, as far as hunting and farming, those that had any idea how to became the pillar of the community that surrounded them. the world had fallen back 200 or more years as far as technology was concerned, few remaining militants remained, most treated as outcasts as well from the few developed communities as they were called the cause of the blight that the world now faced.

Through his travels on the main lane before his banishment, Alucard had been to three developed communities, boasting around 10 thousand citizens each, though he tried to hide his birthmark with dirt, mud or ash, he was always found out and quickly removed, sometimes nearly beaten to death. shortly after he avoided all settlements altogether. quickly passing through at night, taking whatever he needed to survive when he could not find substance out in the wild.
He had heard of others who have been banished with similar marks as his, but only rarely. and he never stayed long enough to find out more information as he knew it would only be a matter of time before someone found him.

(Charater profile on my profile, look for Rosailina)
She coughed out the water from her lungs and tried to rise from the sand that was in her face. She only got up just a few inches, her arms were weak from swimming and trying to run from the people on the boat. Called her a stowaway until they caught a glimpse of her arm. A small lavender circle below three triangles. She knew she shouldn't have got on. Some one would eventually find out. Someone always did. Rosailina dug her arm deep enough into the sand, paraniod someone would find it as she slept. It was starting to creep up on her. She didn't like the weakness, but her body couldn't take it after the water. Rosa put her head down on the sand and turned over so her arm that was buried was still covered, just looked like it was flung and sand evenually covered it. Looking at the sky she slowly fell asleep. As the waves pulled her hair from her face a bit, Rosa finally faced the sky in peace. She didn't feel the wound though, a large gash on her leg, just barely bleeding because of the waves that washed over it. The old bandages were barely covering the wound, only the tip of it, on her knee.

Alucard woke early in the morning from a slow drip from the roof pelting him in the face. He rolled over, irritated that he still has leaks coming into his hut, and looked outside, The rain had died down to a light mist. He grabbed a few palm leave brambles and went outside to fix the problem area on his roof.
After an hour he was satisfied with the repairs and went back into his hut. within a few minutes he returned outside with a makeshift wicker basket and fishing spear that he had salvaged from the ruined village. He then set out to the shore just below the cliff to try his hand at spear fishing. He had always enjoyed the aclove, the waters were shallow and deep green, you could walk out into the water for about 200 feet before the water reached your chest, there were extensive reefs all around, untouched and well protected from any harsh storms. The amount of tropical fish were staggering, bright yellows, blues, reds, greens, and the occasional reef shark. Alucard found what seemed to be a suitable spot for spear fishing, setting his basket on a small rock not far from him, he began his first attempt.

Rosailina woke slowly. She shifted her stiff shoulder and looked around. She saw someone to her left. Instantly she was afraid. A person, someone who might kill her. She tried to get up, but her arm was too stiff and she didn't notice her leg was bleeding. She couldn't put weight on it. Rosa decided to tear the bottom of her skirt, which was soaked with water and wrapped the cloth around her mark. Luckily it was black, so one couldn't tell is she was bleeding or not if they didn't look closely enough. She waved at the person, called for help and waited with her leg and her fear.

After a few failed attempts, Alucard managed to get two large fish. He had always been able to get the hang of new skills fairly quickly. As he was placing hit catch into his basket he heard someone call out for help. His heart skipped a beat from the shock, it had been ten years since he has heard anyones voice. Placing the basket over his shoulder, and gripping his fishing spear tightly he looked in the direction he heard the voice. He could just make out someone laying in the sands next to the waters edge, waiving their arm as they call out. Could it be an ambush? have the mainlanders finally found this island? His mind only ran through the worst case scenarios. Taking a deep breath, Alucard slowly made his way to the person, partially because he was in waist deep water and also so he could scan the area for any signs of a possible ambush.

Thats when fear kicked in and she stopped her waving and shouting. She waited, breathing slowly. What if they find out? She looked at her leg, it was pretty bad. Rosailina dragged herself closer to him once, whinced and grabbed her legs, covering it with her body. Protecting it was like protecting her marked arm, which she had under her leg, making it look wounded too. She looked over at the figure coming, her long, pink hair in the water, swaying with the waves. Her shirt and jeans were torn, she thought she must look vunrable. They had a spear she noted, she hid her face behind the curtain of hair and closed her eyes.

Alucard noticed that the person had stopped moving, and began to hasten his stride as much as he could, stopping just shy of them by about ten feet. just as he opened his mouth to ask if they were alright, the realization that the marks on his face were out in the open, clear as day. He rubbed his eyes with his free hand to clear his head. "Are you conscious?" he asked as he slowly moved closer, no longer worried about his markings. If they were there to kill him, he would make them work for it, but if they were truly in need, he couldn't just leave them there suffering by the beach.

As a sign that she was concious, she moved her hurt leg into view, still bleed, slightly started to turn a yellowish color. She cried a bit. She didn't look up at him, but her eyes saw through the curtains of her hair and saw his mark before he wiped his face. She then unwrapped her arm and showed him her mark in a show of peace, they were the same. Rosailina didn't move because she fainted, limply letting her arm fall and let her body lay on the beach again from lack of food.

Alucard noticed that the girl was falling in and out of consciousness. He assumed it was from blood loss from the sight of her wounded leg. Using his fishing spear as an anchor, he tied the wicker basket off so that it would not float away. Carefully as to not agitate the girls wounds he lifted her, shocked by how light she was, considering that she was soaked in water, and took her to a grassy part of the beach that was under the shade of the trees. He then gently laid her down, looked around to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary, and hastily made his way back to his hut to get fresh water, clean bandages, and what little medication he had concocted from the Alo-Vera plants he had run across in the forest.

When Rosailina woke, she was alone. She noticed that it was so hot, or so rough. Her hands went over the grassy area and barely saw anything, due to the shade and her half opened eyes. Rosa pulled her hair back from infront of her face so she could see better. Am I on a beach? She wondered. "Anyone there?" She whispered to see if she was getting ambushed. She listened for rusles, but nothing. And then she saw the figure again close by. She wasn't as afraid as before, but she still knew about the spear. Leaning on a tree, she tried to stand up, more like leaned on it she gazed around and didn't move. "Food." Was the only word she said before she went silent, waiting for the man.

While Alucard was in his hut gathering his makeshift first aid kit, he also grabbed some dried meat, some clean clothes for the girl, tinder for a fire, his sharpest knife for cleaning the fish he had caught, and a makeshift cutting board. He quickly made his way back to the cliff overlooking the beach where the girl was, he grabbed a set of vines that he had set there for quick trips to the beach and jumped off the cliff. The vines were tethered to a palm tree that was strong enough to support his weight, yet flexible enough to bend to slow his decent to the beach. As he made his way back to the girl, he picked up pieces of dry drift wood to start a fire, and sticks to hold the fish next to the fire. When he got near the girl, he put his gear down, pulled out the tinder for the fire, a small tin can, and the jug of water he then quickly made a fire pit, and had a fire going in less then three minutes. He heated some water in the tin can while he started to take care of the girls wounded leg. Alucard set the first aid kit next to the girl and began to slowly pull the makeshift bandage off her leg, it was still bleeding. he knew he had to clean it and get it stitched closed or it would not stop bleeding, he brought the heated water closer to him, soaked a clean cloth in it and began to clean around the wound, he also threaded a sewing needle with some thin fishing line he found and dropped it into the boiling water to be sterilized. While the needle was in the water he pulled out a small vile, filled with a plants nectar that he found to be a rather effective numbing agent with no side effects. He then poured some of the vials contents into the wound, and began to sew the wound shut. When he was done sewing he pulled out another vial with the Aloe-Vera and smeared a decent coating over the stitching to help the wound heal, and then bandaged his handy work to keep sand out.
