Ƒloor×Ƒour

×This floor is restricted to scientists and reseachers only×

User Imageʃection Ḁ
xxLevel: One
Reception × The sign-in and sign-out desk, which all employees must visit when entering or leaving The Facility. Be sure you don't forget to clock in or stay out too long - you might find yourself heading toward a de-promotion. The Facility likes to know where you are...at all times.

Conference Room × Now and then, conferences will be called for groups, departments, or even the entire staff of The Facility to discuss goals, progress, or anything else that might need to be brought to attention. When a conference is called, make sure you attend so you are up-to-date. You wouldn't want to earn a de-promotion, after all. And who knows what might be revealed...

Recreation Room × Even the most stoic and serious of scientists need a break now and then. Com here to socialize, work out, or just play some good old-fashioned table tennis. The Recreation Room comes with a snack bar, water cooler, and, of course, lots and lots of coffee. There are books to read, tables to sit at, people to socialize with, and tons of other stuff to do. Stressed out? With a job like yours, it's no surprise. Come here to cash into some good old fashioned R&R.

Offices A-M × Ah, cubicles. Even the most elite of corporations has a good healthy collection of these provided for its employees to get all their paperwork and technodrabble taken care of. This group of offices is reserved for people whose surnames range from A-M. Come here to have some time to yourself, get some grunt work done, or store/retrieve some personal belongings. Each cubicle is provided with a small safe, of course, for your valuables. You may occasionally find someone has left something for you on your desk, too.

ʃection Ḅ
xxLevel: One
Laboratories × Aside from "The Project" itself, you are bound to have other things to work on, specimens to study, theories to prove...and with state-of-the-art equipment, top-notch facilities and comfy swivel stools, the labs are the place to do it. Sure, if you have a boss, you'll be doing their bidding first, but you'll still have plenty of lab time to yourself to develop secret weapons, create mutant animal pets, or whatever else may strike your fancy.

Observation Stations × The "look but don't touch" center of The Project. Here, you can monitor the actions of the supernatural patients, take notes on specific subjects, or just pass the time. However, the channeled monitors in here are strictly that; monitors. Not just anybody can gain access to any type of actual interaction with the patients. You can watch them all you want, however. Who knows? If you do enough studying, you might pique the interest of one of the higher-ups, and be granted permission to take on a more...direct role with the subjects at hand.

Security Room × A room full of monitors and big, burly security guys. They don't do much, but if you bribe them, they might keep an eye on another employee or two for you. After all, they've got eyes everywhere - everywhere the security cameras are, anyway; the entrance, and the fourth floor. You can also come to them to report stolen goods, misconduct, or any other problems you may be having with your colleagues. Be careful, though. You may end up uncovering more than you bargained for.

Cafeteria × When one is locked up in a lab all day and night, it's tough to remember meal times. Luckily, the cafeteria is stocked with a full-time staff and plenty of grub. Sure, it's not exactly five-star quality, but it's food. One pudding cup per day!

Offices N-Z × Ah, cubicles. Even the most elite of corporations has a good healthy collection of these provided for its employees to get all their paperwork and technodrabble taken care of. This group of offices is reserved for people whose surnames range from N-Z. Come here to have some time to yourself, get some grunt work done, or store/retrieve some personal belongings. Each cubicle is provided with a small safe, of course, for your valuables. You may occasionally find someone has left something for you on your desk, too.

ʃection Ͼ
xxLevel: Two
Database × A selection of CPUs and folders containing the histories, conditions, special notes, and everything else besides on every patient currently under The Facility's care. If you collect any information on a patient's behavior during your studies or want to start them on some special schedule or remote treatment, be sure to note it in their file here. If you do not or cannot gain access to this section or room, give your information to someone who does.

Storage Facility × Not just your average storage facility. You won't find bulkload cheese-its lining the walls in this massive room. And you can't access it without the proper qualifications and keycards. In here, The Facility's top-secret concotions are stored - all kinds of developments, experiments, and information pertaining to the patients, even hypothetical medications and chemicals that have never been tested on them. Don't mess with this stuff, if you know what's good for you.

ʃection Ḍ
xxLevel: Three
Master Control Room × The main access control panel to all floors of The Facility. Here, you can gain direct access to the patients via an elevator, or alter their conditions and surroundings remotely to gauge their reactions. There is even an intercom system. Be careful, though...if this room is accessed by anybody without permission or specific instructions, it's big trouble all around.

User ImageUser ImageThe large Observation Room, filled with dozens of monitors (likely well over a hundred, though luckily they were separated by floor), seemed to be entirely devoid of life. However, the bright displays of the screens illuminated a single face, his scrutinizing gaze staring at a certain screen rather intently. His face was taut, but not in a stressed or frustrated manner- moreso simply focused on his objective. The man was scribbling down notes onto a pad, but never took his sapphire eyes off the screen in front of him.

So, this particular specimen has finally awoken... and met one of the more interesting subjects. Social interaction seems calm, almost friendly. No sign of ability emergence yet, but it has only been a matter of minutes.

He leaned back slightly, tapping his chin with his pen, an eyebrow raised. This particular subject was of great interest to Vereor; one of his pet projects, actually. He'd attempted the experiment quite a few times, but this subject seemed the most promising. Of course, there was no guarantee that it would succeed at all. The last two with the same specifications had self-terminated at the time of ability emergence, and those before that didn't make it off the table to begin with. As those thoughts ran through the researcher's mind, he seemed utterly unfazed.

It's all in the name of science, after all. Something I'm sure you would understand... Fallax Aetas.

With her hands in her pockets and a package of unopened smarties in her mouth, Sylvia strolled down the hallways of the fourth floor. She had just finished with her chemical testing, and smarties were like her crack. It was justifiable, after all smarties was a healthy alternative to smoking. She fingered the identification badge in her pocket, contemplating for a second whether or not she should pin it to her lab coat but ultimately decided against it.

Sylvia wandered with her mind still calculating the events during testing. The Phyla Nodiflora otherwise known as the Aztec Sweet Herb responded oddly in the testing stages when combined with certain strains of altered genes. It was certainly something that piqued Sylvia's interest, perhaps soon she could run a few tests on creatures other than rats but for now it was going to have to wait.

She stuck her head through the door of the Observation Room as she passed by, her brilliant light casting a silhouette of a figure. The scientist smiled as she entered the room, coming to stand behind Vereor, her muted green eyes watching the figures across the screen.

"Ooo~" Sylvia cooed as she leaned in closer towards the screen, amusement flickering across her face like fireflies. "Looks like most of your pets have awoken. That's good news.~"

User ImageUser Image"Our pets," he corrected her lightly, still tapping his chin with his pen. A hint of a smirk appeared on his features, but was hardly noticeable, even by analytical standards. He never took his eyes off the screens, however, going from monitor to monitor to see the bigger picture.

Most of the medical supplies in the laboratory on Floor 1 have been burned by the Veronan.

A large group of the more humane projects have gathered.

The half-breed continues to mingle with the panther.

Project XETUNOS has yet to awaken.

Two specimens are... running?

With the pen in his hands and the point retracted, he moved it forward toward a hollow space in-between two small towers in front of the monitors. As the pen neared the space in-between, a hologram of a keyboard and pad appeared via projectors from the two towers. The scientist began to press certain keys and drag along the pad, rewinding the video of the two running and then playing it at a slightly faster speed so that it would catch up in time.

"And it seems one of your projects just scared those two," he said with a chuckle, as if what was going on was no more serious than a sit-com. He pointed to the monitor with his pen before beginning to scribble some notes. "How're the herbs coming along?"

"Ah yes, our pets," Sylvia smile as she corrected herself. Her own dull green eyes watched the monitors but only with a mild interest for her brain was still calculating the day's experimentations. And another part of her mind was already combining different plant elements into concoctions. Part of her wanted to head back to the labs until Vereor pointed something out.

"Oh... that." Sylvia shrugged it off, she wasn't particularly fond of that one. It's anti-bodies reacted so violently with the chemical spore she implanted in it that she was forced to stop all experimentation on it. From there, it was up to its own will whether it was to live or die. She looked rather disdainfully at it before turning her attention back to Vereor. "Rather nicely, I've noted quite a few interesting chemical reactions that should prove useful to the study."

User ImageUser Image"That's good news, as always," he replied, his voice showing a hint of enthusiasm but his face held no such emotion. Indeed, he was interested in her studies, but not so much for the same purposes as her. He was more interested in the genetic components; something about the DNA of plants allowed for the growth of chloroplasts, which allowed for photosynthesis, the process by which plants created energy from sunlight. Of course, singling out the single gene or chromosome would take forever... by itself.

Now, however, we have a living humanoid being who 'eats' light. An interesting correlation.

"So, what brings you up this way? Come to observe anyone in particular?" he asked, glancing away from the screens for the first time to get a look at his fellow researcher.

"Ah, to observe you of course~" Sylvia chimed, winking at Vereor though she knew his attention was focused on the monitors. Vereor was a rather no nonsense fellow, so she didn't find him as amusing to flirt with though she did find him attractive... what a pity. She untwisted the wrapping on her smarties before throwing a couple of the chalk-like candy into her mouth and savoring the sweetness as it dissolved. Her gaze flickered momentarily back to the screen with the two running subjects before she ultimately shrugged.

"No one in particular." Sylvia finally responded truthfully, opening up a manila folder to scroll down a list of names of chemicals and a list of subjects as she pushed the smarties around her mouth with the tip of her tongue. She looked over to a different monitor, her eyes reflecting the light from the display made her hues of green a bit brighter. "Ah, a gathering with your brother no less. Have any of their abilities emerged yet? Or am I getting my hopes far too high?" Sylvia asked as she watched the group with slight amusement.

Soryuju has received the ability to create protective barriers, and Thelesis can manipulate her skeletal structure with a presumably-increased healing rate," he responded, going back to the screens; apparently, the angel and the werefox had finished off the spore-infested creature. "Anna-Marie's invisibility has developed as hypothesized, among other individuals. It's all rather interesting..."

"But I've been staring at these screens for too long," he muttered, standing up from his chair and stretching somewhat; he was human, after all. "And I'm rather hungry for a bite to eat, so I'm heading to the cafeteria. I suppose I'll see you when I return?"

"B.I.P, hand me that Flathead." muttered a specific hunched over teenage, one finger on the page of a book, the other hand held out to receive the object of which he asked. A whizzing sound soon began to start up, although he did everything but get Alexander's attention. His eyes continued to linger on the page for a few moments more after a weighted object was placed in his hand. Finally, he slid the book over to his work companion and looked at the dilapidated mess in front of him. Blandly, he observed it before getting back to work, connecting certain wires here, setting up nano-chip functions and the like. It was rather easy. Something he could do in his sleep should he sleep often enough.

"y equals x to the x exponential power." The mini silver robot took up his cue to go back to work as well, picking up a pen and waiting for Alexander to answer.

"I'm doing the logarithm definition?"

"Affirmative."

A moment pause filled between machine and human, the humans dull green eyes focusing on his project at hand. His lips would move ever few moments, as if he were about to say something to himself only to stop. Finally, and with a serious tone, he responded, "y' = y (1 + 1n x) = x to the x exponent (1 + 1n x)." The robot began to scribble the answer down with the pencil it was currently equipped with. It wasn't the computer job to correct its creator at this time. Normally Alexander would ask B.I.P's opinion, but when it came to homework or work, the two didn't cheat. "Next problem, please."

"There is no next problem. Bip. Homework is completed."

Moving his hands away, Alexander looked at the watch that was no complete and hopefully fully functional again. Once more, he had forgotten to take it off in the shower and the system inside combusted. Only one way to see if it was completely working. Pressing the small silver, rectangular button, the boy watched as a map appeared, showing B.I.P with his holographic blue prints. What the tiny robot was seeing lay in the top, far right screen of the map that appeared. "Display time," and like magic, the screen flipped and showed the time, date, day, and weather.

"B.I.P, what's the agenda for today?" It always helped to have your own mini calendar along with you. Especially one that sat comfortably on your shoulder, which was where the young adult was putting the small, silver android.

"Current log shows that homework is fully completed, and no work listings at this time. Jobs on hold listed as none. There is a current Cyborg here, although it has not yet awakened."

That got Alexander to stand up and rush forward, out of the Laboratory of which he was currently lurking in. Running down the halls, the young male used his cad key to access the Observation Room, ignoring the two occupants that were already in there (well...not so much ignoring as it was he honestly didn't notice them there, truthfully) and went over to one of the many monitors, his eyes looking for a distinct person. His concentration was being stolen away by the screens as he looked from one to the other.

Nope.

The ever so interesting cyborg that was being spoken of was not here that he saw. Disappointment was clearly on his face as he dropped into a chair and continued to stare at the monitors, his body leaning back and slouched in the chair. He got up all for nothing, it seemed. And left his text book at his work place to boot. Hopefully no one would take it. Not that anyone might. It was a text book for a college kid in robotics. They had other work to do around here than to be solving problems like he did. Right?

With all the work he was doing, it was amazing he actually had time for this one instance to do work and fix something that was his.

User ImageDrip. Drip. Drip.

Drum. Drum. Drum.

Robbie sat there, chair pulled up the the counter next to the coffee pot, his fingers drumming against the countertop with each drip of the coffee. If he didn't know that rushing the process would ruin the coffee, he would've already longe since been out of there, coffee in hand. Of course, since he wanted 'good' coffee, he sat there, waiting, fingers constantly drumming.

User ImageWith a sigh, Robert got out of his chair, pacing around in front of the coffee pot, fingers twitching and itching. GOD he wanted to blow something up. Maybe that could keep him occupied.

He eyed the salt, and the gears started to turn. If he could just seperate the sodium from the compound, and mix in a little water, that could create a nice little boom...

What was wrong? Why wasn't the subject up? Ozwald Harrt...the human part of him was probably keeping him asleep. That had to be. It absolutely had to be! The human part of him didn't want Alexander to watch and to help this group. Well, sleep all you want, human part of the man. He would need to wake up sooner or later, right? Right. The moment Alexander had read about this man's profile, he was immediately interested in it. Just think, a live cyborg! A creature made of skin and electrical wiring. It was the greatest thing to ever exist, in his opinion. They weren't confusing with their emotions (for they had none, unless they were more human than cyborg. Alexander didn't know of this man yet, so he had the need to find out, still), they could actually think (unlike the human race), and they were very precise creatures.

The very thought caused the brunette male to lean closer to the monitor, the images on it reflecting in his green eyes as he stared. "Where are you?" he asked the inanimate object.

"Right here, Mr. Alexander, sir." responded the mini robot on his shoulder, holding onto the humans hair so that he could look at the monitor as well.

Removing his vision from the screen, the boy looked to the figure on his shoulder. "Sorry B.I.P. I wasn't talking about you." Pausing, the boy looked at the robot who looked at him before they both looked to the video screen with rapt attention. It wasn't fair. It really wasn't. "Keep an eye on the monitor, B.I.P, I need to get my work," commanded the teen as he moved away from the monitor and towards the door. Of course...he'd be able to leave should....you know...Vereor move out of the way. Alexander flickered his eyes from the door to the man in front of him.

...What did he do?

He didn't much want to waste words on asking someone to move. Shouldn't they just...sense when someone wanted to go and move? Humans...the most complex of creatures if Alexander ever saw one. Why did they have to be so confusing? The boy opted to stare blankly at the elder man. Of course...the thought that his books were all alone, laying there...mathematical problems all unsolved...that broke his resolve and he glanced away before moving out of the mans way and hurrying to pick up his books from the Laboratory he had been in.

B.I.P continued to sit at the monitor, watching for whatever might be of interest to its creator, waiting for the cyborg in the odd body suit to awaken.

Not that the chances seemed likely and thus, the human would have to wait...and wait...and probably do stupid paperwork...and wait...and wait...and wait.

Sylvia watched silently as Thea and Sino finally killed her creation, something flickered across her eyes as the creature screamed in agony. Another failure. Sylvia clenched her hands in her pocket, her eyes narrowing until she finally snapped out of her reverie. Summoning a smile to her face, she tore her eyes from the monitor and looked to Vereor.

"Is that so?" She responded with a sweet smile to Vereor's observations. She looked, momentarily back to the screens as if to sort out the people before turning around to learn against the table. "I'll be here for a while, then maybe head back to the labs. Who knows~" The woman replied as she reached into her pocket for another package of smarties before looking briefly to Alexander who had entered but paid him no mind since he was intent on his own work. Maybe she should head down later to claim her pudding but decided against it. "See you then."

User ImageUser Image"Well, au revoir," he spoke, though his eyes were clearly on Alexander by this point. The young intern was quite the genius; his potential had intrigued Vereor greatly. So much so, in fact, that he'd invited the boy to work alongside him in his personal projects numerous times. His own miniature droid was evidence of his brilliance.

It was just too bad the boy had no skills in the art of human diplomacy.

"Hello, Mr. Berker. I do hope you're enjoying the internship," he spoke, beginning to walk out of the Observation Station and into the hallway, thus out of Alexander's path. "Has something in the Project caught your eye, by chance? I've noticed it takes quite a lot to attract your attention, and you seemed relatively fascinated for a moment there."

Bored green eyes met pretty intimidating blue eyes in an official stare down. Personally, Alexander wouldn't have known he would have been making anyone uncomfortable, nor would he have registered his own uncomfortably at this entire situation. Any normal human being would have shied away from the man, probably, who was so dedicated to his work as Vereor was. Alexander seemed to be missing that sort of trait. Such a thing couldn't ever work in the boys favor. That would be like the inability to feel pain, almost. He wouldn't be able to retract himself from a dangerous situation simply because he couldn't feel it. It was all probably just in his 'programming', but it could indeed prove to be fatal. Of course, he wouldn't need to worry about this too much, considering this man had, for lack of a better term 'taken the boy under his wing' and had allowed him to work on certain projects, furthering his already vast knowledge.

The two didn't really encounter much trouble when they were working together. The researcher was dedicated, and the internet seemed just as ready to work with computers as the elder man. There wasn't necessarily cause for words, so it made things a lot easier.

Besides, most of their conversation consisted of wiring, computer codes, and a multitude of other intelligent things. Just within Alexander's ability to comprehend and 'connect'. Intelligence was indeed a blessing.

He faltered mid stride as the man who was now walking ahead began to speak to him. Brunette bangs fell in front of the boys eyes, causing him to impatiently shake his head to rid them of his vision. Enjoying his...internship? Why would he be enjoying it? Technically, being an intern was just another name or title. Something which gave him a sort of status, allowing him to sound more intelligent than he looked. Or...less intelligent, since the rest were practically were 'professors' of their profession and he was...a 'student'. Someone who needed to be 'taught'. The boy decided to say nothing to that, finding that bit of small talk 'useless'. It was like that stupid saying people in movies always said...what was it? Oh. 'Pleasant day, isn't it?'

He would have continued walking forward, ignoring the man and heading back to his books when the man spoke again, giving him reason to finally speak. But...how did he? Oh...oh right. Alexander vaguely recognized the man being in the room. Someone else was there, too, but...eh. Whoever they were, it didn't matter. They obviously held no interest to him. They weren't part robotic, were they, nor did they have the sort of intellect he was interest in. Whoever else was in there probably studied something else. "There was a cyborg in there that I didn't create or...assist with," responded the younger male, looking ahead blankly, as if data was being processed in his mind, allowing him to look back on previously stated data. Most people would call this 'memory'.

"Name: Ozwald Harrt. Age was not listed, nor was appearance. I found no Scan signature, bar code, name insignia or much of anything else on his files. Military experimentation is all I got out of it, and even then the information I have received is extremely limited. I wonder if I hacked into any sort of government data bases if I could..." His thoughts overwhelmed him for the time being, leaving him silent before he suddenly looked to the man close to him. You wouldn't happen to have more information on him, would you?" If anyone would have information, it'd be someone who worked here, got a good salary here, and was considered a higher up. Vereor was on a higher level than Alexander himself. He probably had more information than the nineteen year old.

User ImageUser Image"Harrt... ah, right, the assassin," he spoke, snapping his fingers lightly as he remembered one of the deadlier 'participants' in the project. Yes, Harrt had been quite the find- his cybernetic interface and invisibility suit had proved to be more than simply 'useful'. "Worked in an unknown military faction for some time before being brought onto some sort of cybernetic-enhancing project known as TIGER. His suit had sustained a particularly nasty malfunction at a time unspecified in the file, and the anomaly triggered a mental deviation, driving him relatively psychotic."

"We'd considered repairing the suit's anomaly, but felt it better to leave it as it was; a control specimen for the Project, so to speak," he explained, knowing that such terms would likely register with the boy far easier than to explain human curiosity. "He's quite the amalgam of flesh and steel, veins and wires. Both his arms and legs are cybernetic or at least have cybernetic enhancements, and the suit encasing him is almost entirely neurally linked."

"Oh, before we separate, I though you might be interested to know," he began, turning to lock eyes with teenager (if he was still looking his way, that was). "I decided to introduce X.E.T.U.N.O.S. into the Project. I felt it the best possible method to examining its growth and development; doing so via observed direct interaction may also allow us a more accurate glimpse into the Neurological-Cybernetic assimilation process. It hasn't yet awakened, but I'll be sure to keep you informed if you're interested."
