SynopsisAlso known as the 'Crawling Chaos', Nyarlathotep is a character from H.P. Lovecrafts story of the same name. Taking it's place among a variety of other works, it's a short story in the mythos that is about that one specific character. Hotep, as I'll be calling him for short, is a messenger of the 'Outer Gods'.
Quote:
"...Nyarlathotep, on the other hand, is active and constantly walking the Earth in the guise of a human being, usually a tall, slim, joyous man. ...Nyarlathotep seems to be using deception, manipulation and even propaganda to achieve his goals. In this he is probably the most human-like among them. ((i.e. the outer gods))
Nyarlathotep enacts the will of the Outer Gods, and is their messenger, heart and soul; he is also a servant of Azathoth, whose wishes he immediately fulfills. Unlike the other Outer Gods, causing madness is more important and enjoyable than death and destruction to Nyarlathotep. ((Azathoth is the head of the pantheon of gods that Hotep serves, and is regarded as the most powerful yet mindless being. Hotep's primary duty is to serve his needs, and those are often quite random))
This is a quote from Wikipedia, about Nyarlathotep. He's a difficult character to describe, constantly befriending humans and then driving them mad. He's said to have a thousand forms, of which include The All-Seeing Eye, The Dweller in the Darkness, The Faceless God, and The Black Pharoh (which is the form Hotep is modeled after).
Quote:
What his fate would be, he did not know; but he felt that he was held for the coming of that frightful soul and messenger of infinity's Other Gods, the crawling chaos Nyarlathotep.
-H.P. Lovecraft, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
ProfileName: Nyarlathotep
Nickname: Hotep. His full name is
far too long.
Age/Stage: Baby
Hair: Black
Eyes: Extremely dark brown
Personality: Well, he does seem to be a friendly little tyke. Pleasant, and not much seems to scare him at all...loud noises are treated with curiousity, sudden appearances with the same. I have yet to find a
single thing that scares this kid, honestly. And already he's showing signs of being able to manipulate me so easily...he just looks at me with those big eyes, and I give in.
Likes: People, strangely enough. He likes being around them - most of the time, just watching them. In fact, he seems happier watching them when they don't realize, then when they try and play with him, or watch him back...
Dislikes: Being cooped up inside for long periods of time, with only me around. He never really starts wailing, he just starts whining and pouting at me...
