Route 16 is an east-west route located in central Kanto. The eastern end of the route is at Celadon City. Its western terminus is at the northern tip of Route 17 on Cycling Road.
Route 17, also known as Cycling Road, is a north-south route in central Kanto. Only people with Bicycles or Motorcycles are permitted to travel on the road, making the route a favorite hangout for motorcyclists and bicyclists alike. The northern terminus of Route 17 is at Route 16 on top of the steep hill that makes up the entire length of Route 17. The southern terminus is at the base of the hill, where it becomes Route 18.
Route 18 is a short east-west path in central Kanto that serves as the southern end of Cycling Road. The eastern terminus is at the west border of Fuchsia City while the western terminus is at the southern end of Route 17.

Her arms were achey and she had felt as if she had been asleep for one-hundered years. When Dodge finally decided to sit up, after waiting about a hour on the floor, Ninetales also rose her head. Dodge's head hurt and felt as if someone was pounding a hammer against it, Ninetales could clearly tell that Dodge was in pain. Ninetales nuzzled against Dodge's arms as if to say get-up-please. "Ugn, Ninetales, what are you doing?" She sighed, slowly moving her arm up to pet Ninetales and rubbering her temples with her other arm. After a small argue between the both of them, well a agruement between Dodge and a pokemon that couldn't speak english, they both got up out of bed. The tent that had been sleeping in had seem to magicaly appear, like a miracle. And when they went outside, a basket of fruits laid in front of their tent.Dodge let out a small sigh of relief as Ninetales walked over to the basket. "Praise the lord," Dodge said, smiling. Dodge followed Ninetale's example and began to eat. The fruit was delicious. It was un-ordinarly sweet, but the outside skin made it a bit sour. It crunched perfectly in their jaws. Ninetales went from one fruit to another and to another, ripping each one to shreds and enjoying the taste. "Ninetales, eat slow," Dodge said in between beats.

"Come on Fang! Let's do this!" Intensity shook through Alexander's voice. He raced down the road on his newly obtained bicycle while fang the Growlithe kept a similar pace. Beads of sweat flowed down Alexander's pace as he rode down the slope at top speed, Fang however looked like he had only started running. This training routine would hopefully boost Fang's speed and stamina along with the determination of his trainer.

Dodge, who was shoving fruit into her mouth, and Ninetales, who was taking a leak, heard a loud yell and footsteps. They both finished up what they were doing and turned their heads towards the trainer and the Gowlithe running. Dodge was so happy, she wasn't alone on the road anymore! But first she would have to persuade the trainer. She stood up and put on her best shy-girl-face. "Mister?" She asked looking at the trainer who was about to run past her. Ninetales walked behind her and licked her leg. She let out a small moan almost to ask what Dodge was doing.

"FANG! HALT!"
Fang slowed to a halt as his trainer harshly applied the brakes on his new bike. Fang managed to stop but his feet clumsily slid out from under his developing feet and he quickly tried to regain his footing whilst succeeeding the abrupt stop. Fang's trainer glared at him until Fang sat with his bet perfect posture.
"We'll work on it Fang, but you really need to shape up if you want to have a battle soon."
Fang, despite his damaged feelings nodded slowly to Alexander.
"That's an impressive looking Ninetales you have there...but I suppose looks can be deceiving." Alexander scoffed arrogantly. "My name's Alexander, I don't think by any chance you've seen anything suspicious around here have you?"
He then looked down and smirked thinking to himself that there was no way such an innocent looking trainer could have any clue to the recent mysterious happenings on the path they were stopped at.

Dodge's Ninetales growled at Alexander. How he call me deceiving, Ninetales thought. Her tails lifted into the air as her lips revealed her sharp fangs. Dodge looked down at her pokemon and lightly touched Ninetale's neck. Ninetales looked up at her and closed her mouth.
"No, I haven't." She lied. She looked down at his Growlithe and smiled. "What a cute Growlithe, it must be fairly strong, I guess, from looking at its trainer." She smiled and Ninetales sat down and nudged her leg. Perhaps a compliment would work, they always did. The boy in front of her looked fairly wealthy, and she needed the money. He also looked like he knew where he was going, which is always good.

The smirk on Alexander's face turned into a serious expression.
"Fang is not strong...not yet. I just...erm...received him recently...he hasn't even battled once yet."
Fang had a ferocity in his heart that Alexander couldn't seem to detect, but maintained a serious expression and merely kept his gaze forward.
"Also," Alexander said as he turned away, "We're on our way to some important things...nothing you need to worry your pretty little head over"
Alexander started wheeling his bike away and without turning back, snapped his fingers sharply. Fang immediately bolted after him and they headed toward Fuchsia city.

Dodge frowned after the boy had left. She had stricken out. But when her turned her head down to look at Ninetales, there was a padded down place on the grass where the pokemon once sat. Dodge looked up and squinted. Ninetales was running after him. And soon enough, she had finally got close enough to bite the wheel of the bike. Dodge yelled and chased after her Ninetales. "Ohsii-!" She yelled, pounding her feet against the ground as she ran.

"What the-?" Alexander glared back at the Ninetales whose teeth had impaled the wheels of his new bike.
He quickly jumped off the bike as the Ninetales clmaped its teeth into the wheels. Fang growled fiercely at the ninetales and raised its front left paw into a fightig stance, Alexander knew the position well.
"FANG! HOLD YOUR FIRE!"
Fang stopped immediately and sat straight and tall. Alexander didn't even mind his pokemon's keen ability to obey demands.
"WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?" He yelled harshly as he confronted the newly found person. "Your ninetales just ruined that bike! I won't be able to get beyond this route without it you know! Not with them guarding the-"
Alexander cut his speech short and turned around. He took a deep breath and realized his anger was getting the best of him again.
"Let's just keep moving Fang."
The two started towards the main gate as Alexander muttere under his breath about the disobedience of improperly triained pokemon.

Kessler screamed as Alexander ran over his chest.
"HEY WATCH WERE..... UH-OH"
He barely rolled away in time and evaded Dodge.
Kessler always was good at running so he caught up to the pair quickly.

Dodge grabbed onto Ninetales, sighing. Ninetales also held a mad stance, but Dodge had her arms Ninetales neck tightly. "Wait!" She yelled. "You obviously don't have fast transportation, so why don't I come with you?" She asked standing up and taking Ninetales pokeball out. She quickly sent Ninetales back into the ball. "I have some fruit, if you want some." Dodge said.

He stopped abruptly, "Why would I let you tag along? You'd probably just slow me down. I have places to be. Besides...I still have some supplies in my pack...I may be short on money, but at least I still have enough supplies for the week. I'll make it to the bottom of the path by them, especially going downhill." Alexander continued his pace without looking back once.

Kessler pulled out his only occupied pokeball and a reed light illuminated his face.
Abra did a backflip and Kessler smirked.

"Oh great...another nuisance." Alexander turned sharply, "FANG! USE FIRE BLAST!"
The flames spread two feet in front of the other two trainers blockinng them from his path. The fire burned the surrounding grass and looked like it was going to destroy the entire path, but Alexander simply kept pace, Fang was growing accustomed to the order of thinga...Fang was supposed to be strong, and his trainer would be strong too. Obviously as long as he obeyed orders, his trainer would keep him.

The fire got nowhere near the Abra.
Kessler questioned his immediate behavior
"Well that wasn't very nice..."
"Drew Knock out that Growlithe."
Drew the Abra was extremely loyal and in seconds Hypnosis activated.
The rings creeped toward the Growlithe.
