Route 2 is a north-south route located in west Kanto. The northern terminus of the route is at Pewter City. Its southern end is located at Viridian City.
Viridian Forest lies between Viridian City and Pewter City. The trees in the forest are so thick that little light
gets in. It is full of Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon. A natural maze, many people become lost inside.
Both the north and south entrances of Viridian Forest open to Route 2.

Phobos had made sure she had made plenty preparations before leaving for the Viridian forest for her first training session with Larvitar. Because she had heard of the devious bug Pokemon in the forest and how Weedle could cause poisoning to her Pokemon, her mother gifted her an antidote to use in case of emergency, and a kind poke-mart employee had given her a potion as a sample when she was wondering along the edge of Viridian and Route one, curiously examining the wild Pokemon.

Deciding she was all ready, Phobos ruched through to the forest, only to find that she wanted to head back shortly after. "Larvitar" She called out, throwing his poke-ball to the ground. A flash overcame the ball, and as it dimmed, Larvitar stood next to it, grinning. Phobos picked up the now empty ball, placing back on her waist-strap. They headed into the tall grass, hearing several nesting sounds through the thick brambles as they went. Suddenly, the grass beneath her shook. Shocked, she froze, and Larvitar took a defensive position, his eyes glowing, ready to use leer. A Weedle jumped out of the grass, the stinger on it's oddly shaped tail ready to sting.
Larvitar leaped into action, releasing a sharp leer on the wild worm, which left it disdained for a moment, giving Phobos the chance to call out an attack "Rock Throw, Larvitar" she called out. Her partner responded quickly as the Weedle regained itself, lunging at him. He picked up a rock, tossing it at Weedle as it tried to tackle him. The rock nailed him in his center, and Weedle fell to the ground.

Phobos smiled, turning to her partner and giving him a short high-five. In their celebration, they didn't notice that Weedle had regained itself again, and shot it's stinger at Larvitar, hitting him hard in the side. Though Larvitar was quite heavy for his size and he was not thrown back by the attack, the stinger had still damaged him, and it was a poison move, so the damage was regular, and he could possibly have been poisoned. In response, Phobos commanded "Alright, let's use Bite on this stubborn little thing!"
And so Larvitar did. He pounced at the Weedle, his sharp teeth brilliant in the low light of the forest as a purple shade enveloped them. Landing on Weedle, Larvitar bit at his side, and a pair on large purple teeth appeared in the air and chomped down on the bug Pokemon's body, sending it flying in the other direction.

Seeing that the Weedle was still struggling to get back up and fight, Phobos knew that it was a strong Pokemon, and she decided that she would catch it. She gave a warm smile to Larvitar, reassuring him that he had done great. Now she reached for her belt again, but this time, grabbing an empty pokeball. She pressed the button on it;s front, readying it for a catch. Then she tossed it, smacking the little Weedle right on it's forehead. The tough little guy morphed into a red flash, zipping inside the pokeball. Now she had to wait. She was so nervous, because this was her first time trying to catch a Pokemon, and she had only seen it done once. The ball shook once, the light on the front flashing red. Then it shook again, the red flash repeating. Phobos bit her lip, the last one seemed to take an eternity, but then the ball shook once more, and the light went green, and then faded back to white. Phobos cheered, jumping into the air and yelling out "Woo hoo! That little beast is mine!"
Very satisfied, and knowing that the excitement was over for now, Phobos headed back to Viridian to get both Larvitar and Weedle rested.

This time, on her way through the forest, the nesting sounds didn't even Phase Phobos. She did notice a few bug catching trainers here and there, but they seemed preoccupied at the moment, and didn't ask her to battle. She walked calmly through the forest, No wild Pokemon disturbing her, and both of her Pokemon in their Pokeballs. But on her way out, she could have sworn she saw a yellow Pokemon scurry past her.

Coming back about a half an hour or so later, Phobos noticed that the forest didn't seem to stir as much as before. Perhaps it was because those bug maniacs had gotten what they came for. Walking back through the thick grass, Phobos noticed a trainer off in the distance. As she drew closer to him, he noticed her to. Soon, they were not but five feet away from each other. and they came to a mutual stop. The bug trainer merely casting off a grin as he threw out his first pokemon, a Weedle. In response, Phobos threw out her own pokemon, Larvitar, and the battle began.
Though the other pokemon seemed tough, When Larvitar used Bite on it, the Weedle began to sweat. The opposing trainer seemed worried, as if he realized that Larvitar was a rock type. He made his Weedle use Poison Sting, but it didn't do much to Larvitar, other than scratch him up a bit.
In response, Larvitar repeated Bite, this time the Weedle tensed up when it was hit, as he knew that it would cause him alot of pain. None the less, the Weedle followed through with a Tackle, but ended up not doing hardly anything to Larvitar's stone hard body. Finally, to finish it off, Larvitar used Rock Throw, throwing numerous stones at the bug Pokemon. With that, the opposing Pokemon fainted, and Phobos thought it was over, but then the bug catcher threw out a Caterpie.

Phobos had already decided to stick with Larvitar for this fight. If she could get him strong enough, she would be able to train many other Pokemon as well. Again Larvitar attacked first, beginning with Rock Throw. Again he scurried around, picking up several rocks and tossing them at Caterpie. While a few did miss, Caterpie did take some damage.
Next, the foes Caterpie used String shot, and oh what a messy move that was. Larvitar was covered in spider-web sticky string, and that definantly slowed him down. Though, Phobos wasn't worried, because Larvitar didn't receive much damage from normal attacks. This time, Caterpie had the first attack, and she tackled, again not doing much to Larvitar's hard exterior. To follow that attack up, Larvitar used Bite, and luckily, Caterpie flinched. Now he was open for a finishing move. Again Larvitar used Bite, and the Caterpie fell over, passed out. In defeat the bug pokemon trainer handed Phobos a fair amount of money, which was about 72 Poke Dollars.

 Roka walked among the wild grass along route 2. Hoping to see a pokemon. He has always been impressed by Nidoran♂, and he had collected enough info to find out that they were familiar to this area. Roka parted through the grass.

Roka continued searching. He seemed that his luck had run out, until he spotted a rustling in the grass. He walked towards the rustling, and pulled back the tall blades of grass. Finding a Nidoran♂.

The Nidoran♂ looked up at Roka. This Nidoran♂ had fairly large horns. He looked over it, watching its ears twitch at every sound Roka made. Roka walked a step closer, then suddenly the Nidoran♂ stood up, and ran off. Roka was ready for almost anything, so he followed, running after it.

Roka kept chasing after the small, rabbit-like Pokemon. Its pinkish purple body somewhat easy to track in the grass. Roka considered throwing a rock, or something at the Pokemon, since it was common to do, especially in the Safari zone. But before he could even think about it, the Nidoran♂ had ran into a tree, stopping the chase. It looked like the Nidoran's♂ front horn had been caught in the bark, holding him still. The Nidoran♂ started becoming more flustered, its spikes slightly elongating. Roka sat down next to the tree, waiting for the Nidoran♂ to calm itself. He waited for almost an hour, before the Nidoran♂ stopped moving, he took out his pokeball, and threw it at the Nidoran♂, capturing it. This would be the start of Roka's adventure.

Dodge waited in the forest, Bulbasuar egg at hand and Ninetales walking besides her. Ninetales was a bit guilty about ditching Alexander, but didn't look guilty at all. Instead she just stood in the forest, waiting, pacing, and sipping her water. She was beginning to wonder why she was even standing there, she might as well go back to Alexander and travel with him. But, she knew he didn't like her, so she might as well keep waiting.

Ryu had arrived in the forest. He pulled out a pokeball and tossed it."Come on out, Gastly." He said as the pokeball opened and out came Gastly."Gastly, Gastly." He said as he began flying around Ryu."I'm gonna keep you out of your pokeball so we can travel together." Ryu said as Gastly smiled."Now, lets get going." Ryu said as him and Gastly began traveling through the forest.

Ninetales quickly sensed foot step, and lightly bit onto Dodge's jeans. Dodge looked down and gently pet her head. "I know, I could hear a voice." Dodge replied, trying to calm Ninetales down. Finally, she began to walk. She followed the sound of the footsteps. Every once in a while he would have to stop and listen. Finally, a young man with pink hair walked into her eyes site. "You there!" She yelled, trying to get his attention.
