The arena for this match is an uninhabited mountain top after a fresh snow.

'Of course...' Doku thought to himself, shivering. 'Of all the arena's I could have fought in, it has to be a frozen mountain top.' He continued, thinking of his "condition" and feeling mild concern over the effect it might have on the battle. He could already feel the cold leeching his strength away, and the fight hadn't even started yet. 'I need to finish this as fast as possible, so I suppose... hmm, I'll probably have to use bankai' he silently monologued as he awaited the arrival of his opponent, his pale face revealing nothing of his thoughts.

(( lol omg, sorry for the delay. I've been writing exams. x__x ))
Hisame arrived at the scene as the blur that was flash step. She was late, as usual. She'd slept in after a late night in the squad 1 bar. The only thing that had gotten her out of bed was the promise of battle; something even a hangover couldn't keep from her.
Hands on her hips, the woman stood silently for a minute, observing the scene with her violet eyes. A mountain top with freshly fallen snow. No obstacles except for a few rocks and some drifts. "So, this is just for fun," Hisame addressed her opponent, whom she recognized as the 6th squad captain. There was a glint in the eye of the 11th squad captain. She smiled as she placed a hand on the hilt of her zanpakutou and stepped forward. "Try to keep it entertaining."

((Don't worry, I know how you feel!))
Raising one eyebrow, Doku surveyed his opponent. She was captain of 11th squad, which was famous for it's fighting prowess. 'Well, that works in my favor' Doku thought, 'If she's used to being the best she'll underestimate me... and to make things even better, it looks like someone had a little to much to drink last night.' Doku thought feeling triumphant. If he was lucky, all the deficiencies of his opponent would balance out the toll that the temperature was taking, and he wouldn't even have to use bankai.
Replying to Hisame's comment, Doku said in a monotone voice, "I was about to say the same to you" He was lying though, Doku did NOT think fighting was fun and was only "in it to win it". But he had realized a long time ago it would be better to at least let the other captains THINK that Doku liked them. That way, it was easier for Doku to get what he wanted.
Deciding he would start things off, Doku assumed a more solid stance before saying "way of destruction number 54: haien! Haien! Haien! Haien!" most people didn't think of useing the same hado one after the other like Doku just had, but doing it his way meant that for about the same amount of spiritual power, instead of a single purple fireball, his opponent now faced four. Flash-stepping around hisame to a place roughly behind her, Doku launched another salvo of "haien"s and then retreated, to see how she would react to a barrage of fireballs from both sides.

'Of course, the strategist,' Hisame scoffed as Doku circled her. She was used to opponents trying to throw her off with their light shows and crafty plans, although it didn't mean she'd learned to like it. Hisame had never mastered kidou and as far as strategy went, she didn't have one. This fancy light show didn't impress her, nor did it surprise her coming from the captain of the 6th squad. He wasn't the only one though. Many of the Gotei 13 hid behind their kidou attacks. The 11th squad captain prided herself on her different approach and enforced this upon her squadmembers as well. Her fighting style was erratic and completely physical. She fought with instinct, lightning reflex and many years of experience forged into her being. Fireworks were for festivals, not fighting.
As the eight fireballs closed in on her from either side, Hisame caught her opening. The strategist had left some gaps in his plan as well as some holes between his attacks. To either side, left or right, there was a gap between the kidou balls where the barrage had stopped while Doku used flash step. Using her own flash-step, Hisame left the eight blasts hurtling at nothing. They collided in the air, bathing the white landscape in red light as she appeared a short distance away. With hardly a blink between each step, Hisame was on the move again. Drawing her sword now, she sped towards Doku. Snow flew up behind her, the only witness to her passage, until she reached her opponent. With deadly speed and accuracy, she brought her blade forward in a horizontal slash, continuing from the end upwards and back down vertically. The characteristic half-smirk set on her lips all the while.

She had escaped the firey pincers of his last attack, proving that she didn't freeze under pressure and was capable of spotting the weaknesses of an opponent's strategy.
Of course, that was only to be expected, she was a Captain after all. The question now was would she be willing to hurt her enemy if it meant hurting herself?
Doku planned to find out. The pale shinigami didn't even try to watch Hisame's approach, instead noting the swirling snow, which was a lot easier to follow than a Captain at full speed. It wasn't until he actually felt her sword begin to cut through him that he brought his hand up, so that his palm was literally inches from Hisame's face.
"Way of destruction number 88, Hiryugekizokushintenraiho."
It was hard to see in the aftermath of the resulting explosion, it seemed Doku's Hado had clipped the side of the mountain, and there was a lot of falling rocks dust and snow, so he wasn't even sure if he managed to hit his intended target. That was a moot point however, as Doku was more concerned about his wound. Hisame's horizontal swipe had left a long slash across Doku's chest, and the red of his blood made a stark contrast against the white of his skin. Doffing his haori, the young captain quickly tore off a shred of white fabric to use a a temporary bandage. In a place like this, any wounds left open to the air could mean a feint at any moment, and Doku couldn't imagine a more embarrassing way to lose the tournament than that.

If there was one thing Hisame knew about kidou, it was that the higher the number the stronger the attack. The added fact that her opponent was a captain only gave the blast more force.
As she brought her sword down vertically on her opponent, he raised his hand and just centimetres from her face, fired off a spell. With miliseconds to react, Hasaki threw her arm up and let her reiatsu flare. With any luck her own spiritual pressure would abosrb most of the shock, but even then she was about to take the blast full on. A blue light engulfed her, blinding her. She could feel it burning at her skin. Although she managed to take a quick step back, distancing herself by a good mile or more, the force of the blast still knocked her back several yards.
Hisame managed to stay in the air, her sandals leaving twin trails as they gnashed against the spirit particles. The rest of the blue beam continued on behind her, hitting one of the mountains and causing an avalanche that shook the ground below. The 11th squad captain chuckled to herself as she examined the burn on her arm. It was quick reflexes that had saved her. If not for those, she could very well have been blasted clean through the mountainside. The woman cursed breathlessly and composed herself. Then, lavender eyes blazing, looked once again towards Doku. "Not bad for fireworks." Hisame's harsh laugh echoed through the mountain peeks as she vanished once again. This time, there was no snow trail to follow because she was higher off the ground. She came from above with vicious speed, plunging down towards Doku. The unreleased blade sweeping downwards at full force.

It was the laughter that tipped him off, echoing back and forth off the mountains. She was coming, and Doku had better be ready for when she did, because there would be no mercy if he wasn't. But then, there hadn't been any mercy on the road to Captaincy, either. Doku was used to it.
Closing his "red" eyes in concentration, Doku quickly searched for Hisame's riatsu. Once he knew what direction she was coming from, he ripped the blue rose from the front of his Haori (which, ragged though it was, he had replaced around his shoulders) while quickly saying "Unleash the inner serpent, Mujitsu Kusabana!" The rose immediately disappeared in a blue flash of spirit energy, only to replaced by a deadly looking sword.
'Fine then, she wants a sword fight, I'll give her a sword fight.' He thought as he Flash-stepped his way towards his opponent.

(( Quote: She came from above with vicious speed, plunging down towards Doku. The unreleased blade sweeping downwards at full force. Vs. Quote: He thought as he Flash-stepped his way towards his opponent. - I'm just going to assume you're coming at me from below.. )) Hisame's grin widened as she caught sight of Doku coming to meet her halfway. What pleased her more was the presence of a blade in his hand now. Just when she thought she'd have to deal with kidou for the whole match. "That's more like it!" She did not pull out of her plunge, but pushed off to give herself an extra burst of speed. Debris, bits of rock and snow flew everywhere from the sheer force of mingling reiatsu, creating a white-out of the battle field. Hisame dove head-first through the blinding mass to meet her opponent. Her sword braced in one hand, held at arms length behind her. When The dark shape of her target emerged from the cloudy white, she swung down upon him with enough force to cleave a mountain in two.

"Way of binding number 61, Rikujōkōrō!" Doku cried as soon as he saw hisame's vague shape. Doku wasn't the most nimble of shinigami, so hopefully the "Six Rods Prison of Light" would help even the odds.
"Lash out!" he added, the blade of his sword becoming a thorn covered vine which he then whipped repeatedly at Hisame. with any luck he would do some damage before he actually came face to face with her and his zanpakuto's special abilities became completely useless.
The higher this aerial battle went, the colder it got, the more risky things became for Doku. He had to find a way to brings things down to earth... literally. ((Sorry, bad case of writers block.))

(( lol, np. Just wanted to let you know where my actions are coming from. xD ))
Hisame's rapid plunge was brought to a sudden jarring halt as six beams of light shot up through the blizzard. s**t, she cursed under her breath as the binding spell held her hanging upside down. One arm, her sword arm having been behind her, was held tight against her side and the other hung loosely above her head. Of course this guy couldn't just have a decent sword fight, she thought bitterly as she struggled against the binding. Hisame took a few hits from the rose whip as she attempted to get free. After a few strikes to the shoulders and upper torso, she slowly managed to raise her free arm. Even that simple movement was difficult against the spell, but she managed and found that once she'd got it to move the first time, all other movement was simple. When the whip came into reach again, she reached out and closed her hand around a stretch that came within her grasp. Immediately the thorns dug into her skin and small streams of blood following gravity began to course into the white abyss below her, but she held tightly. It was only a minor injury though. What were a few scratches to the hand compared to numerous lacerations on more vital parts of her body?
Now, she thought, still holding the whip in her left hand. If I can move my arm, I should be able... The captain didn't finish her thought as she began once more to struggle against the spell. She found that by allowing her reiatsu to fluxuate and rise in intensity, she could gain a little freedom with her right arm and even move her body a bit. Just a little more, she thought and released another flare of reiatsu.

((so, is the loose arm the left arm? just cause if it is, it's also the one that got burned...Man, that left arm sure can take a beating! lol.))
As far as Doku could tell, there was good news and there was bad news. The good news was the fact that his Bakudo had worked and Hisame had not only stopped, but taken a few good hits as well. The bad news was that she had apparently managed to snag his zanpakuto and was holding on tight. She was also pretty close to breaking free from his kido through sheer spiritual power if Doku was sensing her right. The only solution was to get free, but how?
Quickly manipulating his whip, he looped it a few times until he felt resistance, which hopefully meant that he had successfully wrapped it around the forearm of whichever arm she was holding with. He had, quite literally, gotten a grip. ((And yes, Doku does think of puns like that while he's fighting. it's one of his quirks.)) Now all he had to do was pull back so that the loops tightened and the thorns dug in in unmercifully...
'here goes everything' Doku thought as he pulled with all his might.

(( ah sorry, I should have been more specific. XD She used her right arm to take the kidou the first time. Since her sword was down in that general direction anyway. Now she's got her left arm in there, because her right arm is stuck in your damn kidou. XD Btw, I made a slight change to my Shikai. If you would like to check it out. It's nothing that will affect the battle so far though, so don't worry. smile )) Hisame grinned as she felt tension in the vine. 'So he still wants to play,' she thought. Still holding the tip with her left hand, she watched as the vine tightened. The thorns dug into her hand, but not her arm, for it was not her arm that the vines strangled. As she pumped out more reiatsu, the binding spell eventually began to loosen. It loosened enough that she was able to get her sword and arm out from beside her. Now she waited as the vine slowly wrapped and tightened around the blade of her katana.
When she felt him pull, she released a final pulse of reiatsu and the 6 rods disintegrated into dust. Using the momentum from the pull on her sword, Hisame flew forward, pulled directly into Doku. "Moushou. Teki o kiritaosss!" She cried powerfully, releasing her shikai at long last. Now an angry and slightly bloody Hisame crashed down on the 6th squad captain with all her might. Broad spear still tangled in the vine, she aimed the tip and thrust forward for a direct blow to his torso.

((oh, ok, that makes more sense then. And as for my "Damn Kido", well, you're just jealous. razz ))
The only way to describe it was...surprising. One minute he's trying to get Hisame to let go of his zanpakuto, the next she's falling towards him at high speed, and what was worse, she was doing it with a sharp implement pointed straight at him. thinking quickly, Doku pulled his zanpakuto sharply to the right so that the point of her spear ("still tangled in the vine") was also yanked to the right, almost completely missing it's intended target. It did manage however, to leave a cut half an inch deep across the side of his abdominals. Momentum is a wonderful thing. Doku felt his breath whoosh painfully out of his lungs as the two combatants collided in mid-air. It didn't hurt quite as much as he had thought it would though, her chest was surprisingly soft... ... It occurred to Doku that he had never been this close to a woman before. ... It occurred to Doku that this was NOT the time to be thinking about things like that. ... Giving a silent command to his Zanpakuto, the vine shrank back into it's original form, thus allowing Doku to push Hisame away, so that he could stop his fall and flash step away. He needed to think of a new strategy, and he REALLY needed to clear his head.

(( Tch, jealous. >_> Fireworks are for festivals. o; ... Doku's never been that close to a woman? XD How old is this guy!? xD I always knew those big boobs I gave her would come in handy. ;D ))
Hisame could only watch as her weapon was yanked aside. Fortunately her efforts weren't a complete waste as she felt the impact of tip to flesh. Suddenly, the opposing force of spear in flesh was gone and she fell at high speed right into her opponent. The collision winded her as well, being unexpected. He was more solid than he looked. It was in that split second that Hisame, unable to hide a devilish grin, realized that she'd ended up with her chest pressed against her pale male adversary. They remained connected like this for another half a second. Both fully concious of the contact. One not so comfortable while the other relished a small moment of mischievous victory.
Finally, both pushed away and the battle resumed. Hisame caught sight of Doku some distance away from her and as winded and tired as she was from her previous struggle, she could not allow him a moment to restrategize. The 11th squad captain pushed off and sped once again at Doku. If she hadn't exerted herself so much trying to get out of that binding spell, she would have had increased speed because of her shikai, but as it were her speed stayed relatively the same as her shikai made up for any energy she wouldn't have had if unreleased. As she neared him, she brought the dragon-head halberd to bear and raised it above and slightly behind her head for a downwards vertical strike from his shoulders down.
