He had lived in a small house shared with his younger sister, father and mother. After the death of there mother everything changed. His father stayed out late and almost always came home drunk and aggresive. they learnt quickly to keep out of his way for fear of him and violence towards them. They knew within their hearts that was they who caused their father such pain and misery that they caused him to lash out in drunken rage them, beating them black and blue, but he and his sister learnt to take care of themselves and avoid their father when they could. At times it worked and at others it was almost futile to try and avoid him. But even when they were caught they never held a grudge against their father, instead they blamed themselves and felt they desreved the bruises given by the hands of their father. As time went on things got worse, a lot worse. The beating became more brutal and left the them in terrible pain and marked with horrid bruises, and still they stayed with their father, not once bearing a grudge. They felt that the pain was theirs to bear in more ways than one and not their fathers But one night father came home incredibly drunk and the sister was downstairs, trapped. He knew exactly what was going to happen and she had no time to escape before the door slammed open violently. She was now the victim of the beasts rage. She was cornered as father beat her worse then ever so that her ear splitting screams tore through the house with such pain and sorrow. It was a scream that had he had never heard the likes of before and it scared it him so. Squeezing his eyes shut and pulling the covers over his head he pretended he was asleep thinking if he could make the noises go away her screams would vanish too and that everything would be alright. He could his father yells at his sister trying to silence her as she let out blood curling screams. His eyes began to sting as tears sprung from the corners. For some reason he suddenly remembered a story his mother once told, about how the fairies came to be. During the rebellion of the heavens there were those angels who didn't choose a side. When the war was over these angels were not bad enough to be condemned but not good enough to be saved so they were cast out of heaven down to earth as fairies. As he remembered this his sister suddenly began to cry out for him begging him to help her and yet he stayed. Fear of his father made him hide in shame pretending to be asleep. Finaly her horrofying pleas for help were silenced, and there was nothing more but the sounds of his father collapsing in a drunken stupour on the floor in the living room. Filled with trepidation he slowly left his room, creeping downstairs he opened the kitchen door and saw her. She looked like a broken bird all splayed out on the floor, blood smeared on every patch of her clothes as well as making a small pool on the floor just under her once lovely raven dark hair, that was now matted, knotted and swiming with blood. Her body lay broken, joints clearly out place as bones lay awkward withing her bruised and cold skin, and her eyes, how sad they looked. Glassed over with fear and pain, she did not die in rest but rather in fear. Slowly he crouched down to her cold body and curled up at her side, clutching tightly to her clothes as if she were still alive and sobbed. How he sobbed for hours on end gently swaying back and forth and clung to her like a child to a mother. He didn't know how long her stayed there cradling her body saying "I'm sorry" over and over again. He wasn't even aware of his father coming in and hitting him. As he sat where he had been thrown he suddenly became aware of his own broken body. He smiled realising the last kindness his father ever showed him was to kill him as well.

I have to say this has been one of the oddest days ever. I say one because nearly every day is odd but this one even I agree is extremely odd. I was moving into my new house, a one bedroom drab affair but acceptable. It's not like I could afford much else, this one only just opened up, very lucky really. Anyway I was unpacking some of my things when I noticed a door, you may not find this odd but I was pretty sure it hadn't been there before. At any rate it was locked so pulling out the keys I began to try them to see if any would fit. The third one went in and turned perfectly, turning the handle I suddenly remembered a horror movie I had seen once that went very much like this. The door opened without a sound revealing a fair sized room. The blue curtains were pulled back a cheery sunshine flowed in. A battered wardrobe, a chest of drawers with a thick layer of dust and two rusted beds were the entire contents of the room. Pleasantly surprised I began to wonder why it had been listed as a one bedroom. As I was wiping the dust of the windowsill I heard a quiet whimpering turning around there was no one there. Listening carefully I realised it was coming from under the bed. Thinking it was the last owners dog been left behind I crouched down and peered under. The bed had been pushed right up against the wall so I couldn't see anything except a dim shape shuffling around. Smiling I reached out my hand as I called to it, "come on sweetie its okay". I could just make out the shape as it came towards me, "that's it, it's okay". When it was within my reach it took hold of it with both my hands and pulled it out, it did however strike me as odd that it had no fur. Out in the light I saw it wasn't a dog but a little boy! I felt my mouth open and close but no sound came out. The little boy smiled shyly and reached out his podgy arms as if wanting a hug. If that wasn't strange enough on his back were beautiful wings. I was surprised but for some reason it was as if it was expected. I couldn't quite comprehend all this, it was unsettling enough to find a child in your house but to find one with fairy wings? I myself have a bit of fairy blood in me, some great grandmother or something. It doesn't do much for me, I wont live for hundreds of years or anything, the only thing really are a pair of small wings of my own. Shaking my head I held the small boy and left that odd room. "I guess I should try to find out where you came from." As I left closing the door shut behind me and walk away I never saw the door disappear.

I'm exhausted. I called round everywhere but no one seems to know who this kid is. Weirdest of all that room has gone. I couldn't keep calling him nothing so I gave him a name, Kiysoshi. It means quiet, which I think, is appropriate, he hasn't said a thing or even made much in the way of sound. Whenever I get near to him he clings to me and refuses to let go until I distract him. However I have decided to look after Kyi, if no one knows who he is or where he belongs I think I'll take care of him. He's okay as far as kids go, although there is the weird insomnia thing. After I found him I settled him down in my bed while I went to find out what was going on. I thought he would go to sleep but when I came back a couple hours later he was still sitting upright and watching the door. Thinking he was scarred sleeping in a strange place I cuddled him and told Kiy a story. Towards the end he did close his eyes and seemed to be asleep happy I tucked him in and went to leave. He had only been asleep a few minutes when I heard him whimpering, rushing upstairs I saw him shaking in his sleep. Sitting down next to him I put my hand on Kiy's head thinking he was ill, as I did he woke up, his little hands reached out and grabbed my arm. I've since learned he never sleep's more than a few minutes. It's a shame, I often wonder if it makes him tired never getting full nights rest.

I finaly got round to setting up a room for Kiy. He doesn't sleep I know but he should still have his own room. I converted the spare room into a bedroom, I painted the wall blue and got in some spare funiture, it's not much but it'll do. I also bought him some toys a bunny and a bear both with fairy wings, I thought he might like that. I also had to get him some clothes but he wasn't to keen on anything I wanted to get for him. That was an increadibly frustraiting hour, after which I gave up. The only thing he'll wear is an old t-shirt of mine. I gave it to him on the day I found him, it's just a basic blue top with a dragonfly printed on the front. I cut a slit in the back for his wings, it's quite funny actualy it come's down to his knees.

It's been quite a while since I found Kiyoshi, I had dreaded taking care of a kid but it's been nice. He likes being outside alot, the other day he noticed a blue butterfly, he got realy excited and kept trying to pet it. He still only wears that blue t-shirt but while I was out I found some more exactly like it, I bought them in the same size and thankfuly he didn't notice.
I'm realy begining to worry about him though. It can't be good for him not sleeping like that. Once after he woke up I asked him what he was dreaming about, he just looked at me and said nothing. I worry about it but I know if he wont tell me all I can do is be there for him. I try to put him down for naps as often as possible but he seems almost scared of sleep and refuses untill he's to tired to even stand. I've taken to staying with him while he sleeps so when he wakes I can calm him. He's asleep beside me while I write in this, it makes me want to cry when I hear his whimpers, I wonder if any of the other guardians feel like this about there children, mabey they do.
I have to go now... Kiy's waking from another nightmare.
