I just thought you'd get a kick out of youfail.org, hence the link. blaugh

Ya know what else fails? Rational people! evil People who tell you that just because it's unorthodox and dangerous, that you could never be a pirate! stressed Those people FAIL.

Ahem. (Quotes Albert Einstein.) "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." The two can and do compliment each other, except when certain people try too damn hard to believe that they're "right." (Or try and take certain parts of scripture too literally. It is a set of teachings and stories, NOT a damn atlas for crying out loud.)

Also, try saying that "religion is only an opinion" to someone who's religious. Like me, for example. But, man, what would I know? I'm obviously just a nut who doesn't know anything and can't think rationally because I believe in a higher power and greater good. How would YOU like it if someone attacked what seems right and true to you just because they have a different viewpoint? And anyway, if you look at what the bible says, what ultimately counts is not just belief but what people do-- we are all judged by our works regardless of anything else. And the most important thing above all else is kindness. "Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you."

God, why am I even bothering with this? All I'm probably gonna do is start some debate about Science vs. Religion. But I'm so sick and tired of being typecast just because I'm religious.

This is gonna turn into a major argument if someone doesn't put a stop to this conversation. So I will. Sorry if I come off as bossy or elitist, but I don't want any big problems starting in the guild. I'll say what I need to say and then we can move on.

Chill out, Cream-Pie. rolleyes You're twisting her words. She isn't insulting religious people. She never said that you or anyone else was a religious nut who doesn't know anything or can't think rationally. All she's saying is that part of religion is believing without proof and that people who are desperate to explain everything with religion and start dismissing science altogether are a FAIL. And I'd have to agree.

And Zephyr, you probably shouldn't bring up religion at all, unless you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. Be mindful of the beliefs of those around you. There's a time and a place and I can tell you that PBG isn't it.

And Melbell, please don't encourage a situation that's going to turn into an argument.

This is exactly why I hate talking religion. evil Someone makes one unoffensive observation or opinion and all of a sudden everyone's on their case, twisting their words, and everyone gets mad at each other. I understand that you both feel strongly about your opinions (as do I), but really. Grow up. When you disagree with someone, take it in stride and make an effort to really understand their point of view.

Now let's talk about something else.

I'm definitely gonna become a pirate! 3nodding I'm trying to save up money and do lots of research right now, but in a couple years I'm gonna head off to sea. Probably Japan, Indonesia, and/or Somalia. pirate
