The White Rose and the Nightingale A "Phantom of the Opera" Role-PlayWas it the Ghost? The plot begins near to the beginning of Leroux's novel, just after Joseph Buquet was said to have committed suicide in the cellars. Why is it that no-one seems to know anything about where he was that night, or what his motives for death were? Why has the Vicomte de Chagny come back to haunting the place after ten years? And, perhaps, most frightening of all, why has the darling of the chorus, the young, beautiful orphan, Christine Daae, been spending ever more time in her dressing-room, and looking more and more like a ghost every day? The question of whether or not it really was "the Opera Ghost" is for the player to decide. This plot shall be a revision of the original novel, but some events (i.e., Apollo's Lyre, the "Scorpion and the Grasshopper",) will still be necessary for some structure.

Main Characters:Erik, "The Phantom of the Opera"- Abnormally tall and emaciated; wears black French eveningwear and has the appearance, feel, smell, etc. of a corpse, with eyes that glow gold in the dark. Age is estimated from about 50 to 60 years. Can be a strangely stable madman, at times, with a great deal of music and murder to his name. Erik is said to have "the voice of an angel," in speech and singing, has very powerful senses and physical abilities, as well as being a master of ventriloquism and a legerdemainist. Is currently obsessed with his student, Christine Daae, who has never met him beyond the voice that speaks to her in her dressing-room. Reference Image: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Erik_Leroux22/Idontknow001.jpg(Yes, I drew it. DON'T JUDGE ME BY MY AWFUL ARTISTIC SKILLS! gonk ) Currently Played By: Quoth The Raven22Christine Daae- A short, though very pretty young Swedish girl of about eighteen to twenty with long, curly blonde hair and pale blue eyes. Sings First Soprano in the Opera choir after months in the dance conservitoire, where she was sent in France after her father died. Had a very strong, happy personality priour to the last three weeks or so, where she has been spending more and more unexplained time in her dressing-room.Reference Image: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i203/xo_dirty_little_secret/Anime Girls/blonde.jpg (Provided graciously by bella_and_edward122! 3nodding ) Currently Played By: desert_vixenRaoul Vicomte (Viscount) de Chagny- The last in the royal Portuguese line, after his older brother, Count Philippe; is also short, but very handsome, with relatively dark skin compared to his Swedish and French counterparts, straight, dark brown hair, and dark eyes. Raoul's age is about twenty-five at the time of this role-play. When he was young, visiting Sweden with his family, he befriended a young Christine Daae and her father. It is only recently that the Vicomte has come back to and subsequently fallen in love with his childhood friend, feeling that he has to battle some unknown force, that voice that keeps her hidden away in her dressing-room, for her affections. His greatest worry is ever that Christine does not love him as he loves her.Reference Image: None! crying Currently Played By: chaotic_cat13The Persian- Named in Susan Kay's "Phantom" as Nadir Khan, the Persian is a very mysterious character who seems to haunt the Opera house all hours of the day and night. No-one besides Erik seems to know his purpose there, trailing his old, monstrous "friend" to make sure that he does not harm anybody, for the Persian is well aware of Erik's imposing insanity. The Persian is quite tall, though not quite Erik's height, with greying black hair, olive-coloured skin and strikingly bright green eyes. (Sound familiar, "Harry Potter" fans? XD) He is slightly older than Erik, though he acts like a much younger man than his years in terms of mental brightness and physical ability.Reference Image: None! gonk Currently Played By: WesticeCarlotta- May be a supporting character in this role-play because of her relatively minor role in the book. Carlotta is the 'star' soprano in the Opera because of her willingness to be appeased by the managers by things besides a very large paycheck, though her voice is not particularly good as opposed to someone like, well, Christine. Carlotta is short and heavy with dark hair and eyes indicitive of her Italian descent. Yes, this description, too, might be a bit wrong. Sorry. She's not mentioned a whole lot in the book!!Reference Image: None! wahmbulance Currently Played By: BarnOwl6-5Supporting Characters:Madame Giry- One might easily argue that Madame Giry is more of a lead character than supporting, but... concerning the plot I've devised, I don't think she would have a great role. Madame Giry is the old woman who cleans out the boxes in the Opera, and has a strange, dependant relationship with the Opera Ghost. She has never met him, face-to-face, only heard his voice, but she has been reliably delivering his 20,000 Franc salary for years, as well as recieving payments back for her work. Madame Giry is a very strong-willed, self-assured older woman with greying hair, only one or two remaining teeth, and a black box-hat with a grey feather normally shaped like a question mark, and like an exclaimation point when she is angry or indignant. Reference Image: None! redface Currently Played By: BarnOwl6-5 Meg Giry- The pretty young daughter of Madame Giry; a vivacious teenager with black hair and black-brown eyes. She befriended the Swedish girl Christine Daae when she first came, and they danced together in the conservitoire for a time. Despite her love of dance, Meg's dark creativity concerning stories of the Opera Ghost have made her otherwise renowned around the House of Music. Her favourite truth that she tells is the fact that the Ghost threatened her instructor into making her the head of her dancing line.Reference Image: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x59/Erik_Leroux22/MegGiryReferenceImage.jpgCurrently Played By: chaotic_cat13 Messieurs Firmin Andre and Andre Moncharmin-Yes, I've probably gotten their names wrong. Sorry. I've just not read the novel for awhile. I still know the plot and roles, though! 8D Anyway, the Messieurs Andre and Moncharmin are the new owners of the Opera at the start of the novel, indignant that their investment is being 'haunted' by a figure that no-one can see. The two are fairly obsessed with making a profit off of their purchase rather than trying to provide a cultural basis for the Paris public, and, unlike the timid, previous owner, refuse to meet the demands of a so-called "ghost." Both men are middle-aged with greying hair; Moncharmin is, apparently, thinner than Andre. Yeah, there wasn't all that much physical description in the book. Reference Image: Nope! razz Currently Played By: No-one!Count Philippe de Chagny- Raoul's older brother by not more than a couple of years (if I am remembering correctly. Feel free to yell at me for being wrong!) Acts much more sensibly than his very accentric young sibling, and wants desperately for Raoul to think about his love for Christine Daae. Count Philippe thinks ardently that Christine merely wants to be with Raoul for his money, and would do anything in his power to prevent that happening. Philippe is much paler and taller than his brother, with medium red-brown hair.Reference Image: .... ninja Currently Played By: Quoth The Raven22 (Thanks, BarnOwl! 3nodding )That's all I have in terms of supporting characters, for the moment. If there's anyone else you want to try to work as, feel free to suggest!Character Text Colours (in case someone wants to be a supporting and main character: ) Erik- Dark RedChristine- IndigoRaoul- GreenThe Persian- OliveCarlotta- RedMadame Giry- BlackMeg Giry- OrangeAndre- BrownMoncharmin- Dark BlueCount Philippe- Blue

Ooc: True.
I'm considering stealing Madame Giry.... She's an "awesome" character, too. You know, fighting against the accusation that she stole the 20,000 Francs, being palz with Erik, beating up the managers....
Okay, that last one's not true. She just yelled at them a lot. But she's still AMAZING! scream
