-Bullridge Outpost-

Once considered where the lowest of the lowlife would gather and set up shop over seven hundred years ago, Bullridge had long since improved its condition and ways. This small outpost is the only settlement near the Hadarack Desert being the only one able to withstand the harsh lands, allowing travelers a place to rest. Made from the sandy soil of the desert, Bullridge sits on a rocky and sandy ridge that looks over the western edge of the Hadarack Desert. Made from compacted clay and sand, the building of this settlement have been built into the ridge itself, their floors and first few levels are dug deep into the ground to provide a small source of cold during the hot days.

After the war, an unknown benefactor that is rumor to live in Bullridge came in a filtered out the lowlifes. With this help, Bullridge was able grow stronger and become a trading post were a little of everything can be found. During the night, when the cold winds begin to filter in, the outpost comes alive. Stands and shops open up for buyers and it inhabitants come out from deep within the ground sublevels. This time is a small opening because like the Hadarack Desert, the moment the sunset the extreme hot temperatures plummet very quickly to ice cold winds.

Rumors had spread that a criminal empire has its headquarters deep within Bullridge, using the Hadarack Desert for their needs and wants. It is still unknown if the rumors are true, however this criminal empire is well known throughout Farthen-Dur.

Bullridge is run by its inhabitants, having no governor. During the past five hundred years Bullridge had not expanded but its population has increased. Most of Bullridge was damage and unlivable before the war. Because of this, the King didn’t wipe the small settlement of the map making Bullridge one of the few settlements to retain its original layout and keep the old ways in it. When the unknown benefactor came in, the person rebuilt and repaired the rundown city allowing the outpost to hold a far larger number of people.

A large red structure sits in the heart of Bullridge. This inn, called Ramr, due to the river that flows next to Bullridge, is the newest and more modern building made after Bullridge became more livable. The inn is only open for the travelers, a resting place for those have travel the desert or from the Spire Mountains. A light house sits on the tower that graces the inn roof. At night the tower is lit up to guide travelers, since it very hard to know which way is north.

Grunting softly to himself as a deep roar shook his bedroom Ruchlos woke up from his nightmare. With a cold sweat still coating his skin he slid out from the caring arms of his most recent attempt into dulling the pain that wreaked his soul. Draped in a black silk and deep green velvet robe over his body he wondered aimlessly throughout his mansion placed on the borders of the flourishing town of Bullridge. With the moon resting at her fullest the periodic clamors from beneath the earth that shook only into his feet, were comforting to him. That night so many years ago was a full moon as well…

*…Flash Back*

The haunting shadows and gentle glow of his surroundings only fueled the fear that he had failed his king. With those mighty storm clouds bellowing from the desert sands like a plague, with their thick blankets damping even his dragons eyes that were losing their power. It had been days since the kings final days on this earth. And his dragon’s magic was all but lost to him. “Forgive me.” Ruchlos pleaded to his father, ancestors, and his fallen king. As his body lost all forms of energy and his seemingly dead carcass flopped on the swirling sands as if he had been struck with an arrow. Watching in a calm manor as the sands began to build up against his skin his lips were a cold and solemn look. Till his eyes fell shut and he prayed for death.

*End Flash Back*

Shaking the memory from his mind, Ruchlos turned his feet into his lavish abode and sauntered into some of the deeper corridors. After strapping on a pair of green pants that were made for rough use and showed their age in the few fraying seams. He slipped into a dark and damp cave. Though there were torches placed along the halls they did little but point the way forwards. The floors were coated in a slick silt and water, as the roofs dripped into pools that lined the walls and flowed into a small stream. With a sudden and surprising hot breath from the caves inner workings the man’s lips curled into a smile as he kept walking deeper into the earth knowing that the whore he left behind in his bed would be treated with respect but still shown the door before noon as he didn’t need to worry about her. But his heart was aching to see the sky, and to feel the air rush around his skin as if it wanted to shear it from his bones.

“Calm down Sulfur, I’ll let you lose soon enough. The sky and night is still young.” He comments darkly into the air surrounding him as if the ghost of his old dragon was walking right next to him, begging to be ridden once again. But before he could take in another breath a deep roar ripped the air in the small cave into a frenzy, the torches flickered and many got blown out from the blast.

Brushing past a door that had been jolted louse from its hinges Ruchlos stepped into a giant room. Where the height and dept that it plunged into the earth could never be seen by standard eyes. “Grant m the serpent’s eyes.” Ruchlos hisses into the thickening room his tongue even flicked out at the last moment to show just how for his body shifted to allow him to see like his dragon did. His eyes flickered a vibrant green for a moment and the skin that encircled his eyes turned into black scales that shredded his skin causing a deep blue ooze to trickle down his skin for a moment.

((jump)(time and intro. Lets get this party started twisted ))

That night an dark and forbidding cloud flooded the night sky. where their was normally a crystal clear midnight blue, back round sprinkled with the millions of stars, and on a night like this a crescent moon their was only a swirling nothing. the people of the town only reacted by closing shop early. and taking the clouds as a warning to stay indoors and with their loved ones. With tales and recent events of people being out and suddenly vanishing the day later only fulled the fear, and caused the town to turn nearly into a ghost town. with only the howling winds and sprays of desert sand to greet any travelers that are looking for refuge.
but far above the clouds the weather was much different. the black slate of Myst would turn into a army, and the winds would become nothing but a weapon as the cries of a dragon would rip and echo into the black morass surrounding them. flashes of fire, and lighting would add effect to the unending tied of clone warriors as they began to encircle their summoner and his partner.
Ruchlos with his saber and sash failing around like a near mad man still held a strong feeling of grace as pocket after pocket of the darkened mass attacked and then fell like a pile of burned sand to mix back into it self to be recreated at a later time. Sulfur was still next to him, clawing, biting, and whipping her tail around doing all she could to clear a road for her master. with her energy begging to crest within her body her hardened green scales began to lift up around her spine letting the building sweat and heat find its escape into the air as a purple and green fading gas. pluming upwards a few feet the gas began to collect its self together and then began to fall. like a acid rain from the heavens the droplets left nothing but a flat puddle, or spinning greens, blacks, and purples. and still the gasses rose into the air spreading out and cutting a deep gouge into the clones that were racing towards them. with his hand clasped over his mouth and noes Ruchlos was chanting quickly and softly to himself, "cleansing flame of poison burn within my soul." though it was the shorter version the spells effect was still the same. a blood red and silver glow began to flow forth from his mouth like he was vomiting but the mass clung to his clothes and his skin till it enveloped his hole person. looking more like a possesed demon with the fmales of hell and heaven burning about his body Ruchlos looked out his hand having dropped to his sord and his eyes burning with his pleasure from this battle.
"COME ON!!!" he cries out as his feet lift off the floor and he charges into the army cutting faster and faster. looking around as if he wanted a real challenge but soon the sun would rise and his energy would burn out leaving hi to fall to the earth far below him. standing back his body was quickly consumed by a thick fog of the same purple and green swirling gas. his dragon waling towards him, her mouth wide open as she was panting out the fumes and her body had turned into an open canister as she tried to cool off more so she could keep fighting.
thrusting his hands out to his sides Ruchlos began drawing out a symbol only known to himself in the air. and a fowl wind began to blow around them as he collected the gas into a small ball, compacting it more and more as the clone soldiers began their advance once again. though slower than before their arms were still raised high ready to pierce into his skin if he gave them the chance. shouting out his hands slammed into the cloud cover that suddenly cleared to show a surface much like the ground, the ball that had been driven into the 'ground' disappearing like a flashlight only to make its presence known as a network of splinters and branches jolted out around his person encompassing the hole training ground with its Erie glow. "Poppy Fields..." Ruchlos begins his eyes starting to glow a bright and vibrant green as a series of spear shot up from the ground impaling half and trapping the rest of the warriors. " Burning fields" He continues as fire exploded from the spear heads catching their prey aflame, and lighting crackled and jumped around the poles as if the night sky had suddenly been angered and it was fighting back. with nothing but cries of pain and death echoing around them. the smell of burned flesh, boiling hot blood, and an ionized smell from the lighting swung and pursued, and tormented the mind till finally Ruchlos lifted his head up to the sky where his dragon had flown to her head arched back and ready to fire, "Poisoned hell fire!" HE finally shouts his hand griping onto what would look like a whip of white and red flames. reaching his hands up he flings the vary ends up into the air only to catch the gas his dragon had sent down just in the nick of time to explode and its critical mass turning their training ground into a grave yard. with the vacuum of air collapsing his spell Rouchlos lets his body go limp from the strain.

A few days later Rouchlos woke up from a deep sleep. his body feeling stiff and near unresponsive as he sat up, and looked over to a young man that was standing on a stone beam with his arms crossed. dressed rather well for the small wallow that the two men were standing in, with a dark purple over coat, and then a black and white suit beneath that.
"you never learn do you sir?" He asks sharply to Ruchlos how had lifted his head up to look at him and then to his arms that rested on his legs. "this is the fifth time in the past month. you keep spending your time fighting your shadow warriors, in your own containment spell and your going to kill your self. then where would our family be?"

"Heh... family... you might consider us that my friend, but to me all this little cluster is, is just that a gathering of greedy, men that allow themselves to fall in line with a coed out of fear."

"and whats better than that boss? your forefathers turned this run down decrepit place into something beautiful, and started one of the best known, feared, and respected gangs this land has ever known." the man comments as he steps off the wall and grabs a dark red robe from the wall, before draping it over Rouchlos's body.

"i know that."

"though some of the men have been wondering sire, why have their been no new sashes elected?"

"The colored Sashes are a tool for wars, and are only given to an explicit few. there skills and mind set is only geared for war. and sense their is no war they need not be formed for the time being." Rouchlos comments as he ties the robe around him and walks out of the room. leaving the young man to return to his duties and announce that the boss is awake and ready for business.
"bureaucrats... war mongers... every last one of them." Rouchlos sighs as he heads for his 'throne' room. despite the fact that he was not of any sort of royal line or blood. he sure lived like one. his clothes were all hand made, with the finest materials known around. and his main place of business, was more than dressed for one. the ceiling stood a good 20 feet above the head of a tall man, with a series of drapes cascading down from the roofs in a series of colors, starting off with a bright and rather vibrant green, transcending through the rainbow to the scarlet and violet drape that rested a few feet from his desk. right now the room was empty and cool. with only the claps of his shoes to grace his ears Rouchlos smiled warmly as he took his seat as noticed that their was only a few papers for his observance. " that's odd" He comments to himself but a fateful bell sounded. signaling the open of business and the first of his guards started marching to their posts. three for each drape, all of them wearing a matching color sash on ether their head, wrist, or weapon of choice.

After a short time Rouchlos had filled out the forms and passed them off to the few messengers around him.
"God this life is boring" he complains as he sits back into his seat placing his hands into a pyramid in front of his lips. "I wonder what Royka is doing." with this Rouchlos got up with a bright smile on his lips. he knew what his second was doing at this point in time. he was probably giving some speech to the new recruits of his gang. trying to fill them with more vigor and dreams before they got their bodies nearly shattered to pieces from their first few weeks of training. Stepping into a small out let of their main courtyard out of the view of the recruits, the guards, and his second he simply hid in the shadows listening to the last few sentences and the hushed silence of the young boys standing in the caves sand. "Seriously Royka, you'd think you would have come up with something better than this. your scaring them more than anything." He thinks to himself as he looked over the bodies. the range spanning the ages like a virus. most were of a decent age, 14-18. perfect to start learning how to fight and still be molded into a good man. other s were above their 20s still train able but the men they were under their skin would never be changed. and then the front ranks caught his eyes. boys most no older than 8 or 10 stood tall and proud. with a extremely vibrant green head band lashed into their hair. "Children?? ... our name must have been getting around to much." Rouchlos comments softly with a gentle laugh as he walked out to a lout and thunderous roar that lightly shook the walls of earth around them.

".... My King... when will you return to your servant and take hold of the army he has created for you?? when will your voice and commands echo through these halls with your dragons roar adding to its power... When will your rage and wrath be unleashed upon this land like before..." he pleads softly to himself as he holds his hand over his heart like he was morning.

"do you wish to fly my rider?" Sulfur asks softly, her voice sounding like a pampered maiden of the kings courts.

"You know me to well my dear." Rouchlos responds with a grin growing on his face. "Do you feel like hunting today? or shall we glide to the lake fare to the south?"

With a slight giggle sounding gurgle echoing in his mind Rouchlos's lips curled darkly. "You know me better than to ask. these talons of mine will surly go dull, and slow if i don't use them often." The maidens voice pears in sounding like a twisted woman who relished in the though of warm blood trickling over her claws and scales as she gorged herself on her prey. the meat still spazzing in her thought showing its last signs of life. "Come quickly my rider, I hunger to see the sky during the daylight. She begs her body having been moving through the caverns till she was in the only place a dragon of her size could launch from.

~ Shift your eyes...then you'll see it.~

'...I'm too tired now.. even for the simplest of things...'

~ Here I'll do it..~

Mearo felt something like an invisable fog go up behind her eyes, they twitched a moment, felt warm and teary- then the landscape changed from the typical rocks, sand, and endless clear sheering hot sky... to a transparent..no that wasn'ty quite the way to put it either.

It looked mostly the same, except more in focus, as if she could zoom in through a looking glass. And small dotted lights littered the distant horizon line like tiny little fireflies.
Thank the gods.. it appeared they had finally reached the end of the desert- of course the charge had run out by then and Eleniel disappeared as she always did behind that strange barrier of reality that kept them apart. Gone- yet still there, inside, in a vastness space where she felt her heart beat along side her partners.
Maero wondered if she'd ever trully understand it.

How much time had passed? Whatever the time- it had done great changes- in both themselves and the world around them. Magic for one.. she could feel it more potently then ever before, like a perfume in the air. Sometimes it was so pungent it tingled her skin, other times it was like a faint breeze, or a soft whiff.
But also..Maero felt different inside as well. Something had changed, something seperate from herself and her dragon. At least it made moving in public easier- but now she wondered if she'd ever run into another sentien(sp?) living being besides themselves.

She had no doubt Eleniel felt it as well, but neither knew what it was really about for now, so neither of them spoke of it out loud. Meerly shared that feeling of unease.

"I see it now.. we're getting closer.. thank goodness, I'm running out of water.."

With a loud roar and a sudden blast of air Rouchlos and Green Sulfur ripped out from the gentle and polight hills of shifting sands. leaving behind them what looked like an explosion of dust and rocks. Rouchlos roared with his dragon as a trail of dust followed them into the sky, both of their faces filled with joy to be once again in the air. flying wildly as they began to descend quickly. his dragon flapping her wings as quickly as she could getting their speed faster with each beat. finally they leveled off and raced for the edges of the desert. figuring the hole city and for miles out would have herd them. if not seen the proof of their take off. still they raced along the desert floor letting the large and numerous thermal plumes drift them further as the headed for the lake to the south.
Do you feel something my dear?" Rouchlos whispers to his dragon as he glances around the horizon.

"Indeed i do my rider... we both are not alone in these skys."

Grinning brightly Rouchlos looked forwards "Keep flying my dear if they are one of us im sure these long years alone will have them wanting to speak to another rider and his dragon."

~ Something is comming... see that light?!~
And indeed she could, with Eleniels shifted vision she could see the brightly burning light, shining like a star that grew ever closer and with incredable speed!

"What do you think it is?" she said outloud, knowing at the moment it didn't matter... like anyone was around to wonder why she was talking to herself.

~... Something..familiar, this scent of power... but could it really be?~
"Friend or Foe?"

~ I'm sorry little one, I cannot be sure, We'll have to wait and see, but surely they can feel us, as we do them...~

Maero knew there was nothing she could do. With that speed of approach, running across the desert was out of the question. Not like she could though- so tired and parched. Maero was going no where.
So the seemingly lone wandering young woman stood there, her eyes lifted to approaching thing in the sky that drew ever closer, till she could switch her vision back to her own limited mortal one.. and see them coming.

'...I dunno why.. but I'm afraid...'

Eleniel could feel her partners fear, and cursed her incompetance.. at this moment she couldn't draw enough energy to break the seal between them, and be there in physical form with her rider. All she could do was watch through her eyes, through her helpless vessels eyes.
Knowing whatever was coming.. they'd be at their mercy.

"A girl?... where is her dragon?" Rouchlos asks softly his eyes whipping around the sky his eyes having been shifted a few moments after he sensed the presence of another rider.

" There is nothing around my boy... trust me i would have seen it long ago. ... but thats nothing. much less how did a lone girl get this far into the Hadarack on her own? surely she couldn't have walked all this way!"

"I would not put it past a rider my dear... although the fact that we can feel her means that she had a beast to ride once before... but even we would parish in this place if we stayed to long. letting louse a deep breath he cuddles his body closer to Sulfur his hand gripping her reverse flowing scales that lead from her neck up to her head. "Land my dear... if they were going to run he would have started all ready. i dont think we have a need to fear them for now."

"Yes, though dont you go letting your guard down so easy because she's cute. Sulfur comments her face curling into an odd look, on that Rouchlos had never seen before as he twisted her body. looping own for the sands and landing relativity softly into the sands. her wing beats aused a large rush of sand and dust to fly into the sky. almost acting like a sand storm till her talons sunk into the sand. and her wings slowly curled in towards her back as Rouchlos leaped off her back.

"Jealous are we my pet?" He teases as his feet land in the sand. with his body straightening out a few moments after wards as he started to approach the girl.
"Long way from home don't you think young miss?" he hollers out. being a decent distance from her all he could make out was that she was in fact a girl. but he also knew that his normal speech would fall deaf even on elfin ears at this range.

" It's a rider alright... male, his dragon is fairly large don't you think?" she spoke out loud, as he landed in the distance. Haulting when he dismounted. Standing with the stretch of space between them, Maero looked at him warily. The sun beat down like a constant annoyance, her dried lips persed in thought.

~ He doesn't feel foul at this distance, do you think perhaps you could reach out and test him?~

'..I don't think a mental connection is a smart idea to start things off, but he is a rider. If he is friend, he wont resist... if he is foe, then we will meet a wall inside his mind.'

~ Sounds like a plan, however, that will drain you considerably, and if he does end up being foe, you will be defenceless magically as well as physically.~

'.. then I guess we wait. I do not see any currents below to use, we're on stored energy alone my friend.'

This mental conversation took a few moments to come to conclusion, it was obvious though at her silence, she was talking with whatever beast she was bound to. She could see him talking, but he was too far to hear.
' Can you hear what he saying?'
~No... I'm using you're ears at the moment, not mine.~

' Can you read lips?'

~...sorry Maero... if it conforts you- he doesn't feel foul to me.~

Maero stayed silent, standing legs slightly apart, to run, probably not- but if he was a danger, she would not fall without a fight. When he was close enough for normal ear shot, she finally spoke.User Image

" ...Out for a stroll? Or is fate having fun with me?" she called to him, her voice was light, very feminin, almost bell-like. She could have easily passed for an elf, even more so as he drew closer. Her features were sharp- obviously from being bound to a dragon, but she looked graceful, beautiful, even with her bangs sticking to her from the heat. She had long chestnut locks, held slightly behind her ears by two clips, and braids... and her ears were slightly pointed it seemed. An elf? Only to the untrained eye. Her eyes were a missmatch- matching dirt brown on one side, and a brilliant-nearly glowing sky blue. Beneath the odd eye, was something that looked like scratches from a distance. With her dark hair, this odd colored eye stuck out, even at a distance. There was obviously nothing natural about it.

~..he must be wondering where I am..~

'..don't they all.. don't reveal yourself yet- not until we must. Besides, we can't even if we tried.'

Chuckling softly for a moment Rouchlos stops walking towards her when he could make out her details.
"I guess you could say both are true. My self and my dragon were just heading south to the near by lake for her dinner meal and a bit of rest. Would you care to join us?... I'm sure that after flying that hole distance across the hatt, must have surly sapped your strength's." he comments his feet slowly bringing them closer together.

"My dear, are you sure that she is a rider? her dragon... i can feel its power wax and wain with her heart beats, but i cant see its scent trail. "

"Yes, she is a rider. most common people we find fall to their feet and cower at the sight of me. she wasn't even phased. she has seen one like me, if not bigger before. the two go back and forth calmly as the green dragon slowly crawled her ways forwards her head stretching out around her rider and their new companion as she looked over the girl. " Do you think she could be like the dragon queen that your king tolled of in legend?"

"Would not be far from me to think it was not possible. Rouchlos comments back as his right hand moved for a small talisman that hung around his neck. "May i have your name miss?"

The girl noted their unspoken transaction, the words passing behind their eyes as surely they were contemplating what to do next, if only she knew what they were mentioning. The ancient refference that made more gravity to her being then even she was aware of.

Maero instead did not worry about it, and took the time to really take in this mans dragon companion, craning her neck upwards to look into the beasts face as it hovered above her. Female, fully grown, and quite a reasonable size, with brilliant emerald green scales. Her sharp angular features made her a most graceful-yet feirce looking creature, like some polished dagger of jade... deadly- but unmistakably beautiful.

Maero's mismatched eyes blinked once, then twice, and a flicker of light passed behind the lighter iris. A trick of the sunlight perhaps.
' Are you staring at her?'
~ She's strong, and very aware, she'll feel me alright if I surface any closer inside you...~

'..they're THAT good hm?'
~ They must have been trained, or had plenty of experiance.~

It would be the young man's request of her name, that snapped her out of her observations and made the stranded rider return his gaze once again with that strange wary- yet calm intensity.

"... Maero. Maero Ara." Sorrows Altar, a strange name to have, if one understood the meaning. Mearo understood it, but not many others did, unless they knew other tounges beyond common. She said it with obvious hesitation though.

"-.. and I'd be delighted to join you both, if you'd be so kind. Long have I walked, and my water is nearly empty, and food as not been inside me for a few days time...we'd be greatful." she admitted. It would seem odd now she did not speak forwardly about the condition on her dragon.

She would grin up at his dragon, then back to him once more. " And you're names are, Dear Rider, and Honorable winged-one?"

"My name is Rouchlos, Rouchlos Litcht, and this glorious wonder of a beast is named Sulfur. named for her welcoming present to this world and her greatest weapon." Rouchlos comments with a small smile as he walked back to his dragons already dropped shoulder.

"I don't think we should be so open about ourselves Rouchlos" Sulfur cautions while still obeying commands a they were given. "Why does she have to share my back any way? her dragon should be able to carry her right?"

"Can you feel her dragon?... because i sure cant. if she is indeed like the old dragon queen her dragon must be inside her. and if that is the case they both will need to eat." Rouchlos rebukes as he gets into his seat offering his hand down to his guest to help her up into her spot behind him.

" A pleasure of fate to meet you Sulfur, and you're companion Rouchlos." Maero said smiling, she found the name amusing, and could only imagine what the event of Sulfur's hatching was like-

~ ..stinky- that's what.~
Came Eleniels chuckling words inside her.

'...you're just glad they can' hear you- thats rude.'
~... I'm just answering your inquizitive thoughts, Sulfur is stinky.. everyone knows that. ~

'..still...' Maero mentally grummbled, noticing the reluctance in the vibrant dragon's eyes as her Rider reached for her hand.

Tentively she reached out to clasp Rouchlos' strong hand with her smaller, softer one, but she paused. ".. Sulfur doesn't mind does she? I'd hate to overstep my welcome. A Riders place on their partners back-..is a..priveledged(sp?) thing. I'm a stranger to you both."
She could have easily asked herself..being a Rider- however, at this point in time- Maero was reluctant to reach out with her mind and touch any other sentient being. For if she did, they'd immidiatly be aware of the secondary presence inside her mind.

Though she wanted to be thoughtful to Sulfurs feelings, she was indeed tired, she couldn't run after them- and there were no channels to use to create a circle of summoning to allow Eleniel passage to their plane of existence. If only she knew- just how close these two strangers were to her secret.
