Personality:
Background: A former police detective, Nick spent his entire life seeing glimpses of the outer realms. Dreams, faint visions, flickers in the corner of his eye of strange creatures and phenomena. These abilities ran in his family. Nick had the gift, as did his grandmother. On her advice he shared his visions with no one and learned to hide the truth, living his life under the illusory guise of normalcy.
It was not until he was nearly paralyzed in a shooting that he decided to revisit his gift. With months of recovery and then months of physical therapy to endure, he did not have the constant comradeship found at work and was left to himself more than he had ever been before. It gave him a lot of time to think and explore his ability. Instead of ignoring the flickers in the corner of his eye, he looked for them.
As he recovered, his ability blossomed and he discovered there was a layer of supernatural things on top of the world. Spirits, ghosts, and creatures from beyond. When he was once again mobile he went looking for these things and discovered that they gathered in certain places. He found rifts, bits of dimensional schism that appeared for fractions of a moment and were gone. When they opened, they let creatures from the beyond exit and enter the world. Nick managed to find one of these rifts right before it opened, and when it did, he went through.
He would up in a place called the Wilds, a chaotic maelstrom of energies, entities, and rifts to all sorts of places. He was discovered quite quickly by a group of experienced rift-travelers who welcomed him into their ranks and became a traveler himself. It was in the course of these travels that he met Limue.
