Which series got you into the mecha genre?

For me, it was Gundam Wing.

Shogun Warriors, Voltron, Robotech... and then in the early 90s I got a clue and quality non-hacked domestic stuff was readily available. I've just always favored mecha for some reason or another. sweatdrop

I happened to catch the first episode of Gundam Wing during it's final run on Toonami some odd years ago. I followed it through, but it wasn't until they aired Mobile Suit Gundam that I jumped on the bandwagon. From there, it was learning the basics of UC until I discovered Super Robot Wars a few years later.

S'been.........two years I think, since I found out about SRW and got into the serious swing of mecha.

The Very first Mecha I saw was Voltron, but the one that I really liked and got me into it was Teknoman ( Tekkaman Blade).

I guess what got me into mecha was when I was 5 and i used to watch Tranzor Z (Mazinger Z) & Gaiking you know stuff that belonged to the force 5.

G Gundam. 3nodding It's a very long and involved story, and now you all have to hear it. Okay, it's not that long...and I'm just making it longer by rambling, so:

I had heard a bit about Gundam Wing when I first started getting into anime, but since all I had heard about it was the stupid fanpairings *shudder*, I quickly dismissed it as no more than useless fanservice fodder. And then, one day soon after, we moved into an apartment on the other side of town...WHERE CARTOON NETWORK WAS PART OF THEIR STANDARD CABLE BLOCK! Okay, admittedly, this is where it gets a little fuzzy--I can't remember whether or not I watched Zoids or G Gundam first, but Zoids isn't in SRW, so I'll go with G Gundam. XD It was the one where Domon fights Argo (what was that, like the 3rd or 4th episode?) on its first run, and something about gigantic humanoid machines pounding on each other just clicked with me (because it's awesome, durr). And a few months after that, my boyfriend gave me the ROM of SRW 4, and, well, the rest is history...well...for me, anyway. XD

Okay, so, that's my story. Don't ask me why I did it, because I already forgot.

I'm a rather outside-the-box case. Before discovering SRW Advance on the internet and just getting curious and playing it, the only mecha series I ever saw was Robotech (I didn't really count all the Transformers series I saw).

The series that got me started on the mecha genre was when I watched Patlabor for the first time. Damn I loved the oldies. I still have yet to see some of the "ancient" mecha shows.

I don't remembered which show got me into Mecha animes.
