The odd silence and the warmth that radiated throughout the room is what woke Lyra. She stirred, frowning because the ground beneath her was soft instead of hard. Pushing herself up with a slight gasp, Lyra looked about her in confusion for a moment. Finally remembering what happened she sighed and made herself relax. The stranger the night before had saved her life as well as healed her wounds. Rising to her feet her gaze swept over the room in search of her mysterious rescuer. Not seeing any signs of life, she frowned once more. Moving about the room to work the stiffness out of her legs, she studied the room in awe. You'd think the old, stone floors and walls of a castle would take away from the appeal of the room but if anything it added to it. The comforter on the bed was a soft gold color trimmed in black. A large gold chandelier hung from the ceiling and cast steady rays of light throughout the room. The fireplace loomed across the room from the bed, and a fire crackled in it's death, causing light and shadows to dance across her feet and the floor. Beautifully detailed paintings and tapestry's graced the walls with their presence, adding life and color to the room. Reaching out she gently traced the odd pattern that one of the tapestry's boasted, sure she was dreaming. Feeling oddly soothed by that thought she smiled. Bad things couldn't very well happen to you in their dreams no could they? Turning toward the door her smile widened, and since she was only dreaming, then exploring couldn't hurt now could it. Pushing the door open and peeking around it, she sighed with relief when she saw no one. Silently stepping out, she looked down the dark corridor. Shrugging, she simply spun around in a quick circle and started walking in the direction she ended up facing.

The firelight flickered on the wicks of the various candles that littered the library of the Haven. He was seated in the very large armchair near the fireplace, a glass of dark colored liquid in one hand and a book in the other. He knew that she'd gotten up already, he could sense her presence moving through the corridors of the castle. He did not care really, he had told her she could move about after all. Lifting his gaze for a moment, he studied the door to the library. He'd left it slightly ajar, only to allow the air within the room to circulate. He now figured she would see this and would see it as an invitation to enter. A small sigh escaped him then as he lowered his gaze to his book again, now only half interested in the elvish writing he saw there.

It was hours before Lyra saw the flickering light seeping through the crack in the open doorway. She was so turned around in the maze of hallways and stairways that she couldn't even think of how to retrace her steps. Sighing, she decided to see if her dream would provide her with some companionship. Stepping quietly to the doorway she hesitated for a long moment before slipping through the slight opening. Smiling when she saw that her dream was at least going to be consistent she looked around her in wonder once more. This was definitely a dream home...one she would kill for. Turning in a circle she kept her smile as her gaze landed upon the stranger once more. "So...we meet again." she said softly.

Lucid did not even glance up at her. He turned the page, reading the next bit of text before looking up at her through pale blue hues. "So we do." he replied, his voice quiet. "Enjoying your walk?"

"For the most part...though if I'm going to dream then at least my dreams could provide a map. It would probably take me days to find where I woke up again." she laughed softly to herself and stepping carefully she seated herself in one of the large chairs that sat in front of the fire. She curled herself up, not afraid probably because she still felt that she was dreaming...dying actually, if I remember reality right, but if I'm going to go, this isn't a bad way to do it, she thought to herself, at least I'm not in pain. "Though, then again, I suppose my dream did give me a guide..you."

Lucid gave a snort, returning his gaze to the book in his lap. He wasn't sure whether to ignore her statement about being in a dream or laugh at her. "I find it rather amusing that you believe you are within a dream." he said. Flipping another page in the book before glancing up at her again. "If you need a 'guide', I would be happy to escort you throughout the castle. However, I feel the need to inform you that you are not in a dream."

She tilted her head to one side and simply smiled. "I'm not really? Odd...I don't hurt, my wounds seem completely gone, I'm in probably the most exquisite place I've ever been in my life, and probably the hottest guy I've ever seen in my life is sitting across from me. Yeah...no I'm pretty damn sure I'm dreaming." she answered looking over at him. Her dark brown eyes sparkled with mischief as she studied his face. If she thought for one moment this was real, she'd be embarrassed not to mention scared as hell, but that worry wasn't really prominent at the moment.

Lucid heaved a small sigh, he closed the book, setting it carefully on the side table to his left. Rising from his seat, Lucid moved toward her. He slid his left hand into the pocket of his cloak, pulling from this pocket a small ornate dagger. "In a dream, one cannot be harmed in any physical way." he said quietly while doing this. With this dagger in his hand, he stepped to her, then swiped the blade across her arm. In doing this, unless she moved, the dagger would make a small but effective gash on her upper arm.

Lyra frowned as she watched him walk toward her. Not sure what he was intending she was stunned when she felt the deep, though small gash on her arm form. The odd mark that graced the center of her forehead flashed briefly a deep, harsh red, before fading back to the faded birthmark she'd had for as long as she could remember. Looking down at the blood that trickled down her arm, she raised wide, almost terrified eyes to meet his. Not sure if she should run...or just give in and realize that her freedom was once again over.

Satisfied that she had snapped out of the trance-like state she'd been in, he healed the wound he had inflicted. Shifting away from her then, he moved over to the door, stepping through it. "Now that you are out of 'dream land', come along and I will show you around." he said, moving off down the corridor.

Terror, rather thorough embarrassment and horror churned together within Lyra's gut. Sighing, thinking it better to at least be able to exit a building, she forced herself to rise and after studying her arm intently for a long moment, she followed the strange man. She thought he had introduced himself though she couldn't recall if he had told her his name and if he had she couldn't recall it. She watched him walk casually away from her, not sure if she'd gained another enemy...or found another neutral territory. It never even occurred to her that she might...just might have found a friend.

Lyra sat on a narrow bridge that hung between the two towers of the rather foreboding castle. She sighed, not in the least bit worried about the several hundred feet that separated her from the ground below. Lifting her face to the wind, she closed her eyes and smiled. She had only been here a couple of days and yet she had learned little to nothing during that time about what was going on. The man who had so casually wounded her and then proceeded to show her through the extensive, maze like grounds had to put it quite simply, disappeared. There had been no other movement that she could see around her. She wasn't sure if she should leave or stay, but even hunters hadn't strayed this far yet and for some odd reason she wanted to linger. So, here she was, sitting upon a bridge of a castle that could belong to the devil himself for all she knew, unarmed and an easy target. I'm smart, aren't I, if I had any sense I'd be running as fast and as far as I could as quickly as possible, she thought to herself, rather ruefully. There had once been a time when she wouldn't even have hesitated and that hadn't been so long ago. For some reason she felt safe here, though the man who had rescued her scared her more than anyone she had ever set eyes on before. It was official, she was losing it. This was her first time ever of having any kind of freedom without having to be constantly moving and fighting for it, and it had finally gone to her head. The thought that she could actually be normal was laughable and the furthest thing from reality. She shivered at even the thought of her childhood, not even a specific memory of it. Blinking back tears she played absently with a few strands of her long black hair, she didn't know what she was going to do, and she may not know what was going on, but she did know one thing...crying was not going to help. It never did.

He stood in the sand like a statue, his hands resting upon the narrow hilt of the sword before him. The blade, one of the finest that he possessed, was long and thin, with a slight curve. Along this blade, markings were etched into the cool metal. They were ancient, a long dead language that only the eldest of vampires could remember. The weapon had been given to him by his father, a sort of family heirloom that was supposed to be passed from father to son. The waves caressed the shoreline gently as the tide came and went. His gaze was on the horizon. The moon sat on it, full and bright. A larger wave glided smoothly toward the beach and a gust of wind tore a path in front of it. It whipped his long, raven colored locks back, tossing the ends about. He turned away from the wind, holding the sword at his right side now. His gaze moved up the north tower and then across the bridge to where his guest sat. He'd known she was there all along. He had sensed her when she had stepped out of the castle. He still had much to do before the arrival of his next guest and long time friend. This girl was simply another task. He needed to be sure that she could not be reached here in the Haven, not even by the best of assassins. To do this, he first needed to know who was hunting her. This of course meant that he would have to talk to her again..a task that he did not really feel up to doing. He dragged in a deep breath, then exhaled slowly, breathing in the cool, clean air. Tucking the sword into it's sheath on his belt, he headed toward the castle. Thinking better of it, he crouched low to the ground, bunching his muscles for the jump. Releasing his tensed muscles, he surged into the air, moving easily to the north tower with magic. Vampires could not fly in any natural sense of the word, but he could imitate the hell out of it by magic and sheer muscle power. Upon reaching the tower top, he strode across and hopped onto the bridge. Then he waited, to see if her senses were strong enough to sense him first. A test of sorts.

Lyra's muscles tensed as she not only sensed him but felt his brief movement. The wind itself seemed to carry warnings t her, it was one of the few reasons she stayed alive. Though, here in this foreign place the wind carried much, the scent of the ocean, the plains and the forest. The sounds of waves crashing against rock and shore and even the call of birds. It almost felt as if the castle and all around it were cut off from the rest of world, protected by some invisible barrier that shielded it. Such a thought was foolish of course but one could hope and dream, dreams hurt none but the dreamer after all. Taking a deep breath she gathered her courage together, what little she actually possessed and turned to meet his gaze with her own. Studying him she bit her lip, he still frightened her more than anyone she had ever encountered. It had to be the look in his eyes, for in them she saw...nothing. Literally there was nothing, no sadness, no pain, no pleasure, no frustration, no anything. Saying that there was no emotion just wasn't enough, eyes with no emotion at least held that distanced look, in his there was literally the absence of everything, including life. His features were perfect, like a painting of old, and his long hair was darker than even hers. A kind of inky black that blended with the shadows around him. His clothes were dark and inconspicuous, the only things that that stood out about him were the ice blue eyes, the kind a wolf would turn on you and the pale skin. "Not afraid of heights either?" she asked quietly, not really sure what else to say.
