This city is dicrepid and run down. Crime is high and food is scarce. The housing is cramped beyond belief. There is little clean water and disease runs rampant. The ground is dirt and stones. Where there was pavement, te street has cracked and broken. Insecs swarm around the garbage left on the streets. The city is right next to the Rift. Yet people still seek this place. This city is the one last human stonghold in the world. Those who make it here are excepted with open arms. The Soul Clan has set up base here. They have protected the city with many seals and barriers to keep even the strongest of demons out. The vicinity to the rift leads to awful noises from the depths of hell. People from all over gather hear. If this city is taken all fails.

Kito roamed around Parnell in search for something to do. He wasn't needed for any mission at the moment but knew there would probably be one soon. He hadn't had a mission in over two weeks. He hoped that tomorrow might hold one for him. As of now Kito walked the trash covered streets in search for something to do. He could feel the weight of the sword on his back. It wasn't heavy anymore like it was when he first got it. It was like an appendage of him now. He stared glumly down the road. He couldn't believe this was mankind's last stronghold. This pathetic dump of a place. This city used to be called the wealthiest in the world. Now it lye n ruble. He saw two small boys squabbling over a piece of bread. Kito thought of how life use to be. At home he was safe and warm. Here he was cold and nothing was ever certain. Everyone had to live in fear of the demons. No one was sure how long the seal on Parnell would last. Kito himself, wasn't sure if the Soul Clan could protect the city anymore. However, he knew one thing. There were more demons on Earth then humans. Whats more is that the demons have come through the rift by the thousands each day. Kito knew the fight was never going to end until the Rift was once again sealed. The problem was no one knew how to seal the Rift. For know the seal on the city would have to do. The city. The 50 square miles of slums in the vast world. Every human thought to be left was here. Kito had a hunch there were more. After all there had been Soul Warriors that had been separated from the main Clan. They themselves may have sealed off their own piece of land. For an area as vast as Parnell, there were many Soul Warriors needed to cast the seal. However, alone a Soul warrior could make a manageable seal for about 2 miles in every direction. Kito was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw something in the distance. The thing was near the school. He wasn't sure what it was but Kito began to run toward it. After all, it was something to do...

A large winged beast hovered some hundred or so miles above the city of Parnell, staying out of the seal's range, yet still watching the coty below. It was large enough to be seen clearly, yet small for a dragon demon, that might be because of the taint of human blood flowing through it's veins. The great beast looked down upon her brethren and shook her head, casting herself off course before she managed to correct the mistake. "Oh how far the mighty have fallen... to think, these beings used to rule this world. Now they live in fear like bugs, in their own filth and squaller..... god they need someone to clean up.... Just because they're dieing, doesn't mean they should help it along by being filthy too."

As Kito neared the large white building of the school he realized it was not a solid being he was charging at. It was a shadow. For a moment he couldn't figure out where such a large shadow could be casted from. Thats when he looked up. A dragon like being hovered over him. The shadow was big but the being was bigger. However Kito had seen bigger demons then this and was fascinated by how it managed to hover just above the first, incineration seal. It knew the perimeters very well for a demon. Most the time demons would try to run into the city only to perish in flames a mile away. This demon was different in some way though. Realizing it wasn't a threat Kito decided to mill around the less dirty part of town. As he walked he couldn't help but feel eyes boring into him. "Heh, Don't be so parinoid." Kito muttered to himself as he walked. The temperature was declining even still. Kito hoped that the sun would emerge soon. He was growing accustomed to the fact of everlasting night but still not to the coldness. In the past he never did enjoy winter. As Kito strolled around once more he noticed that some of the lights were flickering. They seemed to dance down the road in a synchronize manner. If it wasn't for the lights of the city, Kito would never had been able to live on the Earth. The lights symbolized hope to him. A sort of candle in the middle of a dark room. The lights shone bright. They were on timers and simulated night and day for the people. This sort of order helped manage the panic. The people liked it. It reminded them of the past. A simpler time.

Andrew's only friends in the city, were his three guns. A TMP-9 modded with silencer and laser sight, Dragnov SVD on a Three Point Tactical Sling, and a fully automatic Glock 18 in his leg holster. He spent most of his days walking around the city looking for work or something to do.

As he walked he suddenly realized why it was he looked at the school in the first place. He had a class today. "Oh crap!!" he muttered as he ran off down the street to the school. He couldn't be late again or his teacher was going to make him pay. He didn't have much time. He flew down the street. Th daunting white building came closer with every stride. He reached the front steps and raced up them. He put his hand on the door and opened it. The big clock in the lobby told him he had 3 minutes to get to class. Kito walked in and headed for class.

She landed outside the gates of the city, and crouched low, coiling her tail around herself to watch the gates from the shadows, her large grey-yellow eyes glittering. She watched the people inside fight and squabble, and make up as well.

"If I am half human... would I be able to get in?" she asked herself, standing and walking over to the edge of the seal, nudging it with the tip of her nose, flinching back and cupping her nose in her forepaws when she received a painful shock. "Maybe in my other form...' she muttered in a slightly nasal voice

Andrew sat in the middle of what use to be a park. He sat there cleaning his guns. "I hate when guns jam, they get dirty then jam, but then you have bladeded weapons, you can't get the stink of blood out of them." he continued to mumble on.

She let out a low whine, still rubbing her muzzle, 'It buuuurns..." she murmured, before laying down on the ground, her form shifting, with a great deal of poppings and cracks of bones reshaping, into that of a redhaired human girl. She walked once again to the seal and reached forward tentivly, her hand passed through without pain, so she quickly walked through, pausing, before smiling and laughing, 'I'm IN!"

He finished his nearly insane rant and gun cleaning. He sat on the old park bench and pulled out some canned food a began to eat. "Great, another day of eating canned food." he thought.

"Anything that comes out of a can, cant be good for you." Alanna murmured, walking over, dressed in an old cloak she had snatched, but that was all. She wrapped it securly around herself, and tied it like a dress. "Cant you people recycle, and compost, and.... you know, do something good for your city?"

The voice made him jump up, he spinned around drawing his handgun, and pointed it in the direction of the voice.

She blinked down the barrel of the gun, clearly scared out of her wits, "D-dont shoot, p-please.... I dont do well without a head" she said, stuttering slightly. She raised her hands and started to back away, "I want to live"

"S-sorry, but you shouldn't be sneaking up on people like that." He put the safety on his gun and put it back in it's holster. "Who doesn't want to live," he thought aloud.
