In a city destroyed by war, the children struggle to survive without any adult guidance. It's not easy when you have no one helping you along.

All they have is each other.

But many of the children are traumatized. They're afraid of themselves, each other, and some won't talk at all.

Somehow, they need to pull together and bond to rebuild the city their ancestors worked so hard to build.

How Did The Parents Die (if known): They both left after an argument with 123 after he'd been especially naughty. They were leaving to tend to the sick and wounded, but got caught in a suicide bombing and died instantly.
How The Character See Them Self: He doesn't like himself, which is why he's constantly working for others' approval. He has problems with self loathing.
How They See Others: He sees most people other than the very little ones as superior, or better than him. He's always telling other people how great they are, and he constantly compliments others. Not necessarily in a fake way, but merel observing what he sees in them.

Lola sniffled a little as she stood. She had just realized that her birthday was about a month away and that this would be the first one without her parents. They had been gone for about a month and she was past the point of crying everyday. She peeked out of the bomb shelter which had kept her safe the past three weeks onto the street. "Nothing...still nothing"

Flipping some hair out of his face, Shin continued his work. For the past couple weeks he and his best friend, Nikui, had been living in half of a house. The second floor was completely destroyed, so there was barely a roof. The only protection that made it feel like they were "inside" were the surrounding walls, which were still pretty bad.

Shin liked to fix things. He was working on creating some sort of roof over the area that him and his friend had agreed was the kitchen. They had a pot that they held above a small fire they made whenever they cooked. They had a couple weeks left of food supplies before they ran out and would have to go look for more.

Him and Niku had raided the shelves of one of the grocery stores the night after the city was destroyed. They'd be glad to share it with anyone who needed it... if they came and asked for it.

"I got it." Shin said shortly, without taking his eyes off his work. Niku was a total disaster when it came to fixing things like this. Shin didn't want him to hurt himself. He hammered in a nail repeatedly, and when it was flat he turned away to sit down by his friend. He breathed a sigh as he looked up at the less-than-half finished roof. It would need to be done before it rained or something.

Mae sat quietly in her little corner of the world, in an abandoned car. She had written small things in her diary every day, little observations, such as the way the sky looked with all the dust covering it, or how the smell of the city was morbid and disgusting now.

She hadn't eaten in three days, and her stomach was rumbling with curiosity of when and what she'd eat next. Mae got out of the car and went searching for something. She kicked a pebble with her dainty, mud-covered shoes and listened as it clicked across the broken road. Her diary was held firmly in her hands behind her back as she walked through the light fogginess of the street.

There were a few other kids wandering around at this hour in the morning, rummaging through the wreckage trying to find items of use. Mae came upon the grocery store a few short minutes later and let herself in.

It smelled rotten, which made sense since all the expiable food would be going bad. She went towards the section with canned and jarred foods and found a two cracked jars of strawberry jelly jam. She took them and held them in her arms like they were babies and went to the kitchen wares aisle. She found a spoon she'd use to eat it over the course of the week.

"Mm," Nikui said in agreement. Honestly, if he didn't understand his feelings, he knew sleeping next to Shin felt good. Very good. Shin always had been the type that was good to sleep with. And play with. In fact, Nikui considered Shin good at everything. Better than him anyways.

"I'm hungry," Niku sighed as his stomach growled, angry it hadn't been fed yet, "Want me to make you something?" NIku had been pretty useless, since the two boys found themselves in this situation, and he really wanted to do something for Shin. Cooking seemed to be the only thing he was half decent at.

I feel like a house-wife. Nikui thought as he spread peanut butter and jelly over pieces of bread. He wasn't too far off about being a house wife, though. He cooked and cleaned sometimes, and Shin fixed things. He didn't like being the wife, but if Shin was his husband to greet after work, it was worth it.

Not that he wanted to marry Shin. He just liked being around him a lot. Shin was really the only person he loved that was still alive.
