Get Over It

Jhordaan had been staring at the same patch of ceiling for the past forty minutes, datapad clutched loosely in one hand while the other picked listlessly at his sheets. It had been a week since the message had been received: a stranger's voice, clipped basic informing Jhordaan Tri'kule in dulcet tones that Tott Tri'kule was deceased. Killed in a disagreement over funds; the ship had been impounded for debts due and damages done.
It was hard to wrap his head around. All of his memories belonged to that ship. And Tott. The Twi'lek smuggler had been his everything for nearly twelve years of his life—sponsor, guardian, surrogate father.
He considered the datapad and the printout that he'd opened. Arrangements had been made for a new sponsor, a female Bimm in the merchant sector. A stranger. It had only been a week—that had been the time allotted him to grieve, intentional or not, and his emotions regarding the matter were a jumbled mess. That he was required to write his newest sponsor so soon was...troubling.
Frowning, he called up the comm interface, desperate for something—anything—worthwhile to say and not coming up with anything particularly insightful. With a huff he tossed the datapad and went back to staring at the ceiling. He'd think of something later.

To tell you a little about myself... I grew up on Bimmisaari. I'm rather fond of haggling: I'm a merchant by vocation. Apparently, I'm doing fairly well for myself. I'm able to help you out, after all! So that must mean I'm doing something right.
