Post 2. Setting
In a world where most are taught to grow up and leave magic behind, some are finding a world just beyond the veil of reality. In the hustle and bustle of life in the year 2040, new technologies are being born, religion is fading, and life is becoming more materialistic. Children are being grown in test tubes and raised away from traditional fairytales.
In the rare case that a child finds one of these old tales, her parents discourage her with tales of the dark days from which those tales come. They tell children there is no magic in the world, but for humanity's expanding technology and intellect.
There are no glasses, no diabetes, no cancer, and no heart problems. Children are genetically engineered to perfection and screened before birth. Most paper documents have been destroyed as everything is run by computer.
However, in this world, there are still children born of love instead of technology. These children are frowned upon and are the lowest class. They cannot attend colleges nor can they attain any high level positions. But it is these children that will save the world.
They are the ones that still believe in fairytales and magic. It will be these girls, boys, women and men who will unlock the secrets to save the world from mischievous sprites. Fey and fairies are not all nice and fun. These few, the untouchables in 2040 society, will be the few that can fight. Whether they will fight or let those who have spurned them be punished for their narrow minds is their own choice.

Post 3. Cannon CharactersThe Girdellie Twins - These twin boys are similar both in appearance and in personality. They are both mischievous, funny loving jokers. They have more fun with the new found sprites than they should. They are 17 and live in a home for orphans where they get into all sorts of trouble. Technology was never a big thing for them. It just seemed to make things too easy. What value was doing something if you didn't have to put any effort into it. Charlie Girdellie is the slightly more romantic, kind one. Orion Girdellie is the one with the business sense. Appearance:  Bella Hearth - Bella is a very shy, lonely girl. She only 15. She spends all her time talking to a small, benevolent fairy named Spiker. He's too small and always afraid of the larger, ill intentioned fey. Bella and Spiker find in each other kindness while excluding the rest of their world. Bella cannot relate to other people well. She is currently in a mental institution for speaking with non-existent beings. Her parents come to visit, but not too often as they are trying to build their way to a better life for their new test tube child, Elroy. Appearance:  Uzuma Yohaness - Uzuma was born and raised in an ethopian African tribe. He is unaware of the huge cities of the world. The sprites still plague his village, causing bad crops and illness in the animals and village. However, spirits and sprites are nothing new to him. He fights them the way his people have for years with offerings, prayers, taboos, and being a good person. Uzuma believes in good and justice and the importance of a days work. If a man does not work than he has no worth. He is 20. He has one wife and one child. He has his own farm of crop and a few animals to his name. He is a good man in the tribe. Appearance:  Soaring Mane - This boy lives in the wild with his parents. The forests and other untamed nature of the world is shrinking. Soara, as his friends sometimes call him, is happy with his life of freedom. He sees the cities that surround his home and his nose wrinkles at all the steel, noise, and smell erupting from the festering soar on his earth. He is cocky. His family has lived the old tradition of ancient natives of the land for centuries. He believes he can do anything. The fey, to Soara, are a tool. He can use them to manipulate the world to bring about change. He is 22 years old. Appearance:  Naomi Du Bois - From a once royal family, Naomi is the daughter of an affair, betrayal and deceit. Her mother had an affair with a lower class man and became pregnant. Though she tried many times, an abortion with surgery just would not happen. When Naomi was born, her mother was kicked out of the family manor, stripped of her title and left to flounder with her daughter. Naomi's mother hates Naomi and blames her for every agony she suffers. Naomi's life is no easier. She lives in the streets of techno Paris. She fights for what's right. Her mother is a shame to her. Loyalty, truth, and love are the most precious things and her mother threw them away. Naomi sees no joy in the magic or fey of the world. She aims to destroy them. She is 18. Appearance:  Fey:: Spiker - A small male fairy. He quiet and shy, but very friendly. He's best friends with Bella. He's often depressed because he's the reason she's in such a bad state. He has an English accent as he spent a lot of time there. He thinks all the technology is a waste of real beauty and is scared of the more ill-intentioned fey. Appearance:  Holly - A dryad with an eye out to destroy technology. She has a cruel streak a mile wide. Humans are spawners of evil to her. None deserve to live and none deserve her sympathy. She wants nothing more than to ruin them. She has lived for centuries. Now that its getting very bad, she ready to take things to the next step. Appearance:  Beck and Kel - Beck is Kel's sister. They have grown playing harmless tricks around the houses of many people. They are often the reason for lost socks and missing jewelry. They love to collect shiny things and make them into jewelry or just add them to their collection. They have no care for human dignity or if they hurt someone with their pranks. They just want to have a good time, whatever the cost. Appearance:

Post 4. Rules
Since most of you here have roleplayed before, I don't want to go through all the basics.
But perhaps I should.
1. Follow the Gaia TOS
2. Romance is encouraged, no cybering
3. No killing another person's character without their permission
4. No Godmoding
5. No chat speak unless it is part of the character talking to someone else. Do not use it in narrative
6. Third person, past tense.
7. Keep it at least semi-literate with at least 4 - 5 sentences a post.
8. PM me your profiles so that they can all be on the first page and easy to find.
9. I can add more rules if need be, so check often.

Bio:As a love born child Zepher was never truly accepted at his school. Although he was very intelligent the other students and teachers never encouraged him or helped him, thus he lived in a world of solitude. In fear of this punishment, he’s convinced himself that the ‘visions’ he sees aren’t real… but he can’t make them leave. He is currently in school.

He’s been at an orphanage for five years, but he still looks (and is treated) like a fifteen-year-old kid – the same age he arrived at. He hates being told he’s too young.
Personality: He’ll do anything for attention. He holds no truth sacred.

Bio: Sophia has lived with her mother since birth, her father left the country and hasn't returned, she has doubts that he ever will. Her mother was still into technology although she had Sophia through love instead of technology. She doesn't believe that technology should be used in that way and it eventually rubbed off on Sophia. Gaining a keen interest in making and using technology, Sophia was more put down by the teachers and was always in the bottom classes when it came to computer engineering or textiles. She has been told and whispered of her imperfections but tries not to listen, even though this has lost her a bit of her social life. Finding her power of seeing and communicating with the dead didn't help much either, they liked to talk with her about their life before decease and she would have to listen. She mostly ignores them now and makes out to not see them.
Personality: Sophia's personality can change depending on the person she's with. If the person isn't talkative, she won't be talkative or pressure them into talking. Usually though, she dislikes silence and loves company. Everything else about her personality is just basic human-like behaviour. Can get bored easily, however.

Bio: (Summarized) Mordecai was his parents first born child, born not only of love, but out of wedlock as well. Scorned by society, when Mordecai (playfully called Cai) was 7, their parents had a second child, and this time they chose the "right" choice. Slightly more accepted due to "coming to their senses", they managed to scrape out a decent life. Cai's younger brother, Jerome, was superior in every way to his brother. Faster, smarter, better looking. Scorned by his own younger brother, Cai decided that he would find a way to prove that he was better than his brother. Through some shady contacts, Cai got a false identity as a "tech" child, all the paperwork saying that he was a genetic perfection just like everyone else. In truth, though, Cai has myopia (he wears contacts to disguise this), and a significant heart problem. At birth, the doctors gave him a life expectancy of 31.2 years old - and that was being generous. Keeping his identity a secret, Cai trained in martial arts, swimming, computer science; anything and everything he could to prove himself better than his brother. He doesn't have a real purpose, other than trying to make himself "successful" in whatever way he believes he can.
Personality: Constantly out to compensate for his apparent "weakness", Cai is always eager to prove himself better than anyone who challenges him. He is not a bad person at heart, just fed up with being looked down upon for things beyond his control. No one has ever accepted him for just who he is, and he has had to live a lie for so long that he's lost track of who he really is. Yet he feels lost, because as of yet he has no real purpose, no drive, no destination in life.

Other: Cai's only ability is the ability to see truth. To see the essence of a thing. This allows him to see through lies, to know the answer to any question he is asked (though he forgets what he said right after), and to see what people truly thing of themselves and others. However, Cai's complete denial of his own truth, his own identity, has buried this ability, deep, deep within his heart. Possibly too far to ever be fully recovered.

Birth: A mix
Bio: Desiree, called Ray by most of her friends, is a rare child indeed. Grown in a test tube, but not selected for best traits. Not only that, when she was ready, she implanted in her mother for her mother to give birth. However, her birth certificate shows her as a techie. She can only barely glimpse the world that the love children see and is treated as a techie.
Personality: kind, confused, and often lost. She doesn't understand the division between herself and the love children. She also doesn't understand the world she can barely see.

Other: She can glimpse, though its never in good focus, the world of magic and fey. She has minor control over healing.

Orion was talking on and on about how him and Charlie could make a fortune selling little gizmos that didn't work right. They could be used for all sorts of gags. Both boys didn't like technology much, but in a world where everyone loved it, Orion believed that to make a dollar you had to sell what the people wanted. Charlie felt that you should do and sell what you love, not what you need to make a little money. However, Charlie couldn't deny the empty coffers or that the rent was due in a week or so. Charlie sighed.
"Yes, Orion...I'm sure we could...but couldn't we just ask the sprites? They are always running around with jewelry and stuff...I don't wanna work with technology." Charlie had a slight frown on his face. He saw a sprite flit into one house and then out carrying an expensive looking ring. "See...perfect example."
Orion smiled. "You just want it all too easy Charlie. I'd rather work at it on my own. Now look these are my ideas. We can take these old cell phones. Everyone's getting a new one every week or so now." Orion chuckled at what he thought was a clever joke. "We can install a circuit that makes them flash brightly when you dial certain combinations and play music with others...people will buy them for parties and high houses. And its real simple..." Orion was getting into one of his excited moods. Charlie knew there was no stopping him now.
Charlie set back on their old worn down couch and chuckled at his brother. Orion was already fixing up the phone. For not liking technology much, Orion had a knack for it. If he had been a techie ((Technology born baby)) he would have gone to college for it. Charlie was sure about that.
Before too long, the phone was doing light shows and playing techno music. Charlie could see why everyone would want one. It was a mini DJ in your pocket. They were going to make a fortune. Charlie sat down. "Show me how." Charlie sighed.
"Well, aren't you the enthusiast." Orion chuckled punching his brother lightly in the shoulder. Charlie was an old softy. "You plug this here and make this do this." Orion explained it slowly. He took a cord from the phone and moved it attaching it to another cord. He went through now to connect the buttons to send signals to the brain of the phone to flash a certain sequence of colors or to play a song. Once Charlie was completely confused, Orion sat down, wrote out the combinations and what they did, and asked Charlie to type it up in little strips to sell with the phones.
Once it was all done, Orion and Charlie headed down to the street with a box full of old, modified cellphones. Today would be a prosperous day. The two red heads set up a small stand and began to demonstrate the phones.

Michael was at an artificial lake playing with the water. He had just gotten out of his house after a long day of chores. He didn't hate doing them cause he knew how much work his mother had to do to support them both. He was pondering what his life would be like if he had been born in a tube, but he quickly shook the thought off. He loved his mother and would never change that.

Orion took a step forward from the stand. They had been selling like crazy but now the crowd was dying down. "Hey Charlie, wanna take a break and head down to the lake?" Orion was a big fan of water. He didn't really like the fact that mermaids were swimming in it, but at least they didn't bother you most of the time.
Charlie smiled. He was tired of all the people and the strange looks. Everyone knew that Charlie and Orion were love babies because they didn't have the bracelets that techies wore. Sure, Charlie or Orion could probably steal one, but whats the point of pretending to be one of those?
Charlie and Orion quickly took down shop which mostly consisted of putting the cellphones that hadn't sold into a box and putting that in their apartment. They locked the door carefully behind them before jogging back down to the street. It was sunny outside. The sunny blared down on their freckled skin. A trait you would never find a techie. Their red hair ruffled in the wind, their green eyes watching everything with care. It was dangerous to be a love baby since not everyone was kind.
The lake wasn't too far away. It was an artificial lake, cold, clear and algae less. No one wanted to look at the ugly green mess. They'd rather have it be clean and pretty like the rest of their city was to them. Charlie and Orion sat down putting their feet in the water. They saw a boy off in the distance. He was making the water move around. The Giridellie twins knew he must of been a love baby since only they could use the magic that the rest of the world had forgot.

Uzuma made his way across the village. He had just finished an important meeting and was now ready for dinner. His wife Terehasa brought in his dinner of yams and then gracefully left the hut. His little three year old son, Otieno, followed hanging on his mother's skirts. He was much like Uzuma with his big eyes filled with wonder. But Uzuma worried that Terehasa babied him a bit much because he was her first child. That would soon change as Terehasa was already growing big with another child. Uzuma's chi, or personal god, smiled on him. Uzuma had a big trip ahead of him though. These small spirits plaguing the village were causing far too much trouble.
Uzuma had decided to travel away from his home village to seek aid of others who saw these dangers. Perhaps some white man had the secret to destroying them. Uzuma worried that if they were not destroyed his son would not live and his wife would not live to bear the life she carried. That would break Uzuma more than anything. He would pack to leave in the morning. Tonight, he was to be with his wife for the last time for many months. He wished to show her how much he cared for her.

Forever silent the moon exists...
As the sun was starting to set, Zepher trailed along the sidewalk of the city that hates him for being himself...a love born. Alone in his world he tried to ignore everyone and stay on the lay low as he did not want to have any confrontation from "Techies" about him not welcome here.
While walking he had the thought to go to the artificial lake to practice his magic and learn a little from the mermaids presiding there. He was always practicing at that lake, he wanted to learn as much as he could and master his ability in hopes that he would find some meaning as to why he is here on this world.
As he continued to walk down the sidewalk he went down an alley which he used as a short-cut, on the way through he came across a fay that had a diamond ring on his back.
"You shouldn't steal from these people, they'll eventually get mad enough and try to blame someone for the thefts...probably us love borns." Zepher remarked as he continued to walk.
"It's just a shiny rock, who cares if it goes missing?" Laughed the fay.
"Weren't we once considered shiny rocks among the people?" Zepher told the fay as he continued and walked away. Now all he could think about was that remark..."Who cares if it goes missing." Maybe there was some truth to that.

 Sophia walked down the cracked pavement, her hair flowing behind her tied up in a ponytail. She looked as if she had only just got out of bed, wearing a tracksuit jacket, baggy t-shirt and a pair of crinkled jeans. Her trainers had also seen a better day. It was true that she had only just woken up a few 30 minutes before by her mother. The milk had both gone bad and run out, the bread was also becoming less edible. Sighing as she checked the bag hanging from her hand by the handle, she took out a candy stick she had bought for herself. Taking a bite of it, her lifeless gaze looked ahead. The streets didn't seem as busy as usual, maybe it was another doom day like friday the 13th's. A sigh left her lips after she swallowed the piece in her mouth. She started to ponder on what to really do today since she didn't feel like going to school if it was open, the name of the day wasn't coming to mind, she most probably would remember if she put all her thought into it. Hoever, she didn't have the energy, it was already bothersome coming out to buy groceries. A sudden sound from her pocket almost made her jump and she stopped to take out the cause. A pink mobile. Sophia looked down at it, only just remembering how to operate it and pressed on the green button. "Hello?" She greeted, bringing the phone up to her ear and mouth.

Orion and Charlie were staring into the waters waiting for a mermaid to notice them. They had their phone ready to impress, although they knew that the fey were never much interested in technology. The waters rippled and moved with under surface currents. The water was so clear that if you looked straight you could see the mermaid palace at the bottom of the center of the lake. No one would ever catch Orion or Charlie swimming there. Though mermaids were beautiful, they were some of the most mischievous fey out there. They had fun pulling people under or luring them with their beauty.
Charlie laughed, "I wish I could do real magic." he said. "Not this stupid tech stuff, but magic like the fey that can move things without touching them or the fey that control elements, or those ones that disappear..." Charlie sat back and thought. "Or fascinate people like the mermaids do. Silly sirens." Orion laughed at that. No one else would have gotten that if they were a techie. Sirens were an old tale out of Greek mythology...fairytales. No techie would be caught dead knowing that kind of information.
Orion smiled, "I wouldn't mind controlling an element or two...or any of the others for that matter. But we're just human Charlie. We have the special power to see the fey...that should be enough." But Orion, just like Charlie, knew it wasn't enough. He wanted more, felt he was suppose to have more. But since he couldn't explain these feelings rationally, he would never admit to having them. Everything should be able to be explained.
Charlie and Orion continued to sit on the bank of the lake staring into the waters. There was nothing much else to do today. And it was a relaxing break to just watch the waters. It was a bit boring, but even the best of pranksters need a break from constant joking and adventure for a bit.

You'll never expect what you can't see... Kenny strolled along. He was very stiff, and carried a small pile of books as class just got out. Several small, winged fey flew back and forth in the flow of people. 'They're not real... They're not real.' he chanted in his mind. He closed his eyes, hoping they would vanish.
He still heard them as they played. The sound seemed to get closer. Peeling open an eyelid, he saw one of the fey diving towards him. Kenny tucked his head down, hoping this small action would save him. He stared to the fey. The second followed and chased the first around Kenny's head. Kenny let out a short, yet soft, grunt of terror. He closed his eyes again as they circled around him.
He lowered his torso under them and began running, just trying to get away, still with his eyes closed. 'They're not real... They're NOT real.' He turned down an alley and bumped into an older kid in a trench coat.((Zepher)) He dropped all of his books. "I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone was there. It's my fault entirely," Kenny rattled off nervously without facing the person he bumped into. While gathered his things, he saw the fey holding the ring ahead. Clinging to the opposite wall as to avoid it, he scurried past.
Terrin was in the office with the orphanage with the caregiver again. He was leaned back in a chair, his arms crossed. The caregiver was pacing back and forth - her arms were resting on her hips. She paused and glared to the kid in the chair. "This is the fourth time this week, Terrin! What have I told you about doing impressions of the staff!?" He leaned forward. "What? It's not like anyone got hurt from this." "That is besides the point! If you keep up at this rate, you'll be thrown out on the streets in no time!" He leaned back again. "As if; I've tried. They won't kick me out. I've been trying for..." SLAP! A red mark in the shape of the caregiver's hand lay glowing on Terrin's cheek. "I will have none of that backtalk! Just go to your room! NO supper!" Terrin got up and started walking out, his hands in his pockets. "Whatever."
He didn't much care for human food anyways. He walked the short distance down the hall to his room, closed the door, and dropped on his bed. Sitting back up allowing his feet to hit the floor, he focused on his arm. It slowly began to fade to a dark grey. 'The spell's wearing off...' He was suddenly in a lot of pain. He choked back a scream of agony as energy engulfed his arm. He fell to the ground, still determined not to scream, as his arm went back to 'normal.' He just laid there, emotionless.
Kite walked out of one of the many tall buildings. He was wearing a gray business suit. He turned to shut the door, exposing that he was carrying a brown briefcase with the name 'Mr. Sninnz' engraved in black, just below the handle. He slowly began his walk to the poorer side of town.
