Phantom Brave no contest, it may have looked simple and childish but the item customization in that game was amazing, noting I've seen anywhere else comes close.. though... I do wish you could have used characters as weapons more easily....

I liked Phantom Brave as well; it was really cute. I liked La Pucelle Tactics better, though. I loved the storyline and gameplay.
The only thing I have against the games is leveling up. It really pushes my buttons when I have to level up so I can beat the boss.

that's why PB was so great to me, you didn't have to level if you were good at making items, you didn't even have to work that hard lol just jump in and out of a level grab the best items and then use 'em and combine 'em and slaughter is a coming xd Choose Carefully...-~∞~-

I don't know how to make items in Phantom Brave. It didn't make any sense to me. I can just barely play it because they had such a sketchy tutorial.

Well maybe it's just because it was my first SRPG, but I do love Disgaea. I'm a pretty big Disgaea fan, and it is incredibly fun to piss off my friends with the constant "dood" from the Prinnys... xD
La Pucelle Tactics is also another one that I loved, and I know what you mean by having to level up, it does seem a bit more dificult in that game, at least in the beginning, since you have to level up so many characters, and most of the time you're fighting in teams which means that the EXP gets split up to all the characters that did the final blow...
As for Phantom Brave, I'm pretty sure that game was my second or third SRPG and I didn't like it much because it was a bit too hard for me, I got up to the last boss and couldn't defeat him cause my characters and items... well... sucked... but if I had the chance to play it again, I'd probably do a lot better since I have a few more years of experience with SRPGs now. xD
(P.S. Yes, I write a lot. >.< )

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is probably my favorite, despite the bias point that I have not really played many others.
I never finished it, I don't know why. I would leave it for a week, come back and have the urge to start up a new team.

Well I played La Pucelle a long time ago. I liked it back then, and when I played it now, yeah, it does seem a bit slow, including the levelling and what not. But I do like the storyline and all that, it was pretty interesting if you ask me. 3nodding

I like FFT. I realize, ofc, that there may be another tactical RPG which I haven't yet found which is better.

Picking a favorite is hard because a lot of them are a lot of fun... I really liked Makai Kingdom and La Pucelle Tactics; although I wouldn't say to the point of favorites. My favorite would have to be Rhapsody for the original Playstation; although most don't even consider it a SRPG due to how simple it was u_u
Phantom Brave was also pretty good, although the customizing items drove me mad.

The original Final Fantasy Tactics was my favorite SRPG, hands down, that game was so vast and had so much stuff to do in it. my only problem is once your characters hit a high level, nothing can really challenge you anymore. Some other really good games are Disgea, and Super Robot Wars MX. I never played Phantom Brave, but after how many people here love it, I might have to
