From the lack of activity, I was wondering if anyone is actually coming into the guild. =/
I'm trying to think of ways to make this an active guild. Contests take a lot of effort to coordinate especially fan fiction ones. I don't know much about a lot of series, most of my knowledge is anime/manga. Also, there is the thing about prizes, how often, and what kind of criteria used for judging. We have writing exercises if anyone's interested.
Basically, I'm asking:
what will it take for people to become more active? That's all. I want people to enjoy their experience here.

I think the key would have to be more advertisement of some sort. It does seem pretty. . .dead around here. Maybe if we promote more activity in the original thread itself, we'd get ourselves more attention. And then some contests you speak of would help to keep people here and active. Perhaps the possibility of gold rewards would help out, too.
Just a thought.

We need people to also help with the advertisement. More of our banners in yoru siggies! I'm also going to try to keep the guild advertisement thread up, where it can actually be seen.
Contests would be nice, but I can't run them. I have a full time job now, and I can't spend as much time as I would like on them though I'll help with the rewards for the contests.
Would anyone care to run a contest?

I'm willing to dedicate whatever time I can to run one, but I'll most likely need some help with it. Out of curiosity, when someone donates to the guild, where does the money go? I was thinking we could use donations to fund winning contestants or something like that.

Any donations to the guild can't be used for prizes. They can only be used for purchasing subforums for now. The Gaia people said they were working on more features you can buy for guilds, but I haven't heard anything more about it.

I'm honestly not sure. I lurk from time to time, but there usually isn't any real discussion going on, so I don't do much either. (Yay, self-perpetuating cycle . . . go me.)

I come on at least once a week if not once every other day. It's quite disheartening (if that's a word) to see the last posts are mine. I try to respond to a lot of posts. If you have any questions, go to the info area. XD

Shame we have no use for another subforum >_> We ought to figure out another way to provide incentive for people to come. For now, maybe we should just stick with contests just for the fun. Maybe if there's ever a possibility for cash prizes, we can add that on at a later time.

Probably. I may even start handing out prizes to people who actually participate in the guild at random intervals.
For the contests, probably small ones would be a good start. Then we can move onto large ones as more people participate in them.

What kinds of contests will we hold? Simple short stories restricted by word counts, or what? Maybe we can even hold contests for poetry based on type and length. And since poems generally don't take as much time as short stories, we can do it more frequently.
Like a weekly poem contest and bi-monthly short story contest. Or something.
Edit: I just noticed the fanfic contest you put up, Chibi. It's a great start, we should look to starting one for original works soon, I'll be happy to help with that one.

XD Hee. I recently created it too. In any case, a contest for originals and poems is good though I can't do the poems. Don't know too much about them, but I'm qualified for the originals. It just can't be done during the fan fic contest; however, if you're willing to run it...

I'm more than willing to run it, of course. Just gimme about a week, I've got one more exam I have to worry about before I start anything. We can work on the original work contest together, and I (and any other willing individual) can run the poetry contest.

Great. Then we'll have a variety for people to pick from. I doubt anyone can judge all three since there's a lot to know.
Have anything in mind for the prizes? They don't have to be big since there probably won't be many contestants.

Okay, so, the fanfic contest will be all yours, I'll organize the poetry one, and we shall both work on the original works.
In terms of prizes, I see several options: (1) a certain sum of gold (though that will probably come out of our own pockets); (2) a certain prize item (also coming from our pockets - or, well, inventories); or (3) some sort of honor for the winners. I had in mind, like, their name on the guild home page, maybe a nice banner (if anyone's willing to help out to make one) with the winners' names or something.
Or any combination thereof, that could work too.

That sounds good. The original will have to wait until I get back to the states as I don't want to constantly borrow cousin's comp.
The prizes for my contest are coming out of my pocket. We can do a mixture of items and gold. It will depend on the specifications and how much we can afford. What I have done for the fan fiction, I can easily afford it. Runner's up, maybe we can do booby prizes like piccies and banners. Like third or fourth place.
