Okay, so the first time I tried to revive this didn't work out too well. Now, that I have more time on my hands, I'd like to have another go at trying to bring this back.

Here are some points and ideas I'd like to bring up and hopefully have everyone express their views about the ideas.

1. I want to make guild either private or hidden. The only people I think should have access to the guild are those who are serious about helping newbies. We can discuss more on this.

2. Despite being the captain, I do not want complete authority over the guild. We currently have a team of five staff members (not counting the newbie guide mule). These staff members will serve as a the guild council.

While we are expected to come up with the ideas, we hope to involve other HDN members and have them contribute to the guild. Once we get a fair list of ideas, we will meet as a council and see which of these ideas would greatly benefit the guild. I will be the one to head the meetings, but not the only one to make decisions.

In the case of my absence, the Vice Captain would head the meetings.

3. I plan to have one council/staff member assigned as "The People's Voice". This person will collect all of the ideas and have the HDN members vote to see which ideas would help the guild be successful. The ideas that pass will then be brought to the council meetings and be discussed about there.

4. I still do like this idea of setting up a Charity and/or a giveaway outside the guild. We need to discuss details, but I would love for this to happen. ^_^

5. As always, I would like our presence be known in the WtG forum. All I ever see nowadays are people saying "wrong forum noob" and other things I find rude to say to new members. With our presence made known, hopefully it would comfort the new members and hopefully have them think "There ARE nice users here".

6. Originally, I didn't want to test new members. But after putting some thought into it, I'd like to have members who know enough about Gaia to help new people out. Should we have a test or not?

7. Again, originally, I planned to only have crew members work as scouts. But now that I plan to use the crew as council, I'd like to have regular HDN members recommend others to join the guild. Thoughts?

Some of these ideas were taken from the last HDN revival thread (locked and de-stickied, but saved for the archives).

If you have ideas of your own, please share! I don't want to be the only one coming up with ways to bring the guild back. ^_^

Hopefully you're not thinking, "Why bring the guild back when there are so many guides out there?"

True, there are a ton of guides out there. However, I don't know many new members who know about any forum on Gaia outside the Welcome to Gaia forum (except, perhaps, the Chatterbox...because they got yelled at by someone and told to spam there)...not many know about the Gaia Guides & Resources sub-forum.

As for the newbie guide stickied in WtG...well, it hasn't been updated in a year. While it does have important stuff for new members to know, many things have happened within the last year, I'm sure.

We do have two banners made by Dino quoted in the last HDN revival thread. Of the two, I personally like the one with the drink. That one always made me laugh.

If someone else wants to design a banner, by all means, feel free to do so. I would, but I don't have a single artistic bone in my body. :]

Chibi's Feedback

1.) -Nods- We're low on members, so we should keep it Private so users can see what goes on in the Guild, and join if they're interested. The flaw in Public Guilds is that a user can post and then leave. Members we can at least guilt into posting.

2.) That makes sense. It's too much for a single person to manage a Guild, and having a council to discuss with seems like a good idea. This way, if you need an opinion, there's users designated to giving it to you and helping you.

3.) -Nods- I like that idea too. Maybe we can have a Suggestion Box thread to keep it easier on that user.

4.) -Nods- Sounds like a good way to get people. We can just over-advertise and promote the Guild in that thread. :'D

5.) -Sigh- I've been wanting to help out in the WtG, but we're going to have to organize something. It's overwhelming when it feels like you're alone in efforts.

6.) I think a brief quiz is necessary. In working with The Defenders, I've tested users who believe they are 8's or 9's in terms of knowing Gaia only to fail quiz after quiz I give them.

7.) Well, we could "have" both. We can have Crew scouts, and have Crew check out users recommended by regular Guild members.

I'm leaning toward anyone who "needs" it, so we can attract both non-new users who can potentially help newbies and newbies who are in need of help.

I'm sure a lot of jerkwads make new accounts just to get in on newbie-specific charities anyway.

Decided that having a Council was a great idea. I most likely WILL increase Council size from 5 to 7.

Suggested and agreed to have a suggestion thread

Agreed to having a charity, though details still have to be planned out. (Leaning towards helping all who need help)

Have had their minds blown up when it came to coming up with plans for the WtG. x3

Agreed to have a test to join HDN

Said to have both regular member and crew scouts. I don't mind either way.

Provided banners for the guild! Remind me to thank Keira when I catch her in our quest thread. :3

So yeah, we still need to work out the charity/giveaway details...and boggle our minds with WtG. @w@ I guess it's safe to make the guild private now...I'll go ahead and do that. =3
