On the outskirts of the city, whereby magical experiments gone awry might not affect the general populace, stands a spiraling White Tower. It looks to be constructed of marble shot through with viens of every jewel-toned color imaginable. Windows and balconies appear at frequent intervals around it's huge girth, though somehow the sun always glints off the windows to prevent outsiders from seeing within.

The tower is also surrounded by a rather wimpy-seeming moat, shallow enough that you can see the fish swim over the stony bed through the clear blue water. Across it lies a stone-railed bridge of the same material the tower is constructed of. There are no guards at the great oak doors, but one might choose to be cautious about entering anyway...

The grim look on the soldiers face darkened further into something that was half-determined, half-stuborn as she lead the small party across town, through the Eastern Quarter, and towards the city limit. It was not a long trek, but the swordswoman marched it stiffly as though she had to force her every step. The Tower came into view long before they reached the edge of the city walls, it's massive bulk soaring toward the sun. They left via a small set of gates, crossed a well-tended garden the size of a small field, and found themselves at the foot of a pale marble bridge that reflected the light back in bright hues. The Captain came to an abrupt halt, holding her arm out to bar their passing without explaination.

Drawing in breath as though it were to be her last, Tarma stepped onto the foot of the bridge. Even as her boot soles touched down, a warm melodious voice rang out:

"I bid you welcome, Tarma Arielle Falloner. Are you true?"

The soldier grimaced, then nodded firmly. Her voice was reluctant, but oddly respectful.

"I am true, Bridge."

After a long pause, during which sweat was beading on the forehead of the stern soldier, the voice spoke again in an amused tone:

"Very well, Lioness of Ancar. You may pass."

This time, the soldier not only grimaced, the color drained out of her face completely. Her stride across the bridge to the far bank was quick enough to be called a trot, and she seemed significantly relieved to be back on land. Turning, she called to those waiting on the other side.

"Cross one at a time. The bridge...sorts through your minds and hearts for ill-intent, but you'll not be rejected if you are true."

That she did not speak of the consequences if a person were un-true spoke volumes about how severe they might be.

Anxiousness welled up in side Traven and showed a the sorcerer almost bounced through the streets like a child in sharp contrast to the soldier he followed but was awe struck as the bridge talked "Ahhh...so this is how they protect this place with this "Bridge of Truth" he said not knowing if that was called and stroked his chin with his thin hand then crossed his arm within the large sleeves of his robe and walked onto the bridge removing all impure thoughts from his mind his face taking on a more blank expression "What the.." he said as he felt the bridge work its way into his mind thinking it would have been better to risk the barriers
"You, Traven Darkeyes. Are you true?"
he shuddered and struggled out a "Yeah, I'm true." trying to keep it from reaching too deep into his mind wile trying to keep his composure a while passed and the voice spoke
"Hmph, Sorcerer of The Forest of Whispers. You may pass."
Traven sneered down at the bridge for he know knew his actions where now going to be watched closely then ran off the brigde and looked up at Tarma hoping she wasn't listening

The Captain appeared too mired in her own discomfiture to notice Traven's. Indeed, she stood before the heavy iron-bound doors with her features set in a pained expression, her hand twitching convulsively around her sword hilt as she waited for the Avariel to cross. As Traven approached, he would detect the sounds of her muttering to herself, only half of what she said audible...

"...nothing of bloody 'Lioness' nonsense...Liana and her bedamned tricks....not about to become caught up in her plans again...making a damn mockery of me..."

After watching the two go before him he felt slightly nervious about crossing this bridge."Theres not another way acrosss is there...I thought not." he says reluctantly as he steps forward and starts crossing the bridge. the voice rang out once again. His face tensing as his mind was probed, barly noticeable to people even close to him.
"Daimien Moonshadow. Are you true?"
"I am." he says with a minute frown.
"Very well. Last Prince of The Skies. You may pass."
"Could that be any more disturbing?" he says annoyed, hoping noone paid attention to his finnaly crossing the bridge.

Traven looked up at th disturbed captain relieved that she didn't pay attention to what the bridge said about him and her heard her echo the word lioness and he did find her reaction amusing "Lioness of Ancar that is an interesting title how did you get it?" he asked looking around slightly to check if any mages where watching him.

" 'Tis no title I ever claimed! O'course, she claims that there are other men in other lands across the seas who know me by that name. Bloody nonsense!"

She gave the retort indignantly, then returned to muttering to herself as she rapped smartly on the door three times and waited for an answer.

"...bloody Aes Sedai, bloody titles..."

Traven took a step back "Okay, okay, I'm sorry I asked." he said and looked at the large door in front of him keeping his eyes away from the enraged captain

The grumbling cut off and her face contorted into a grimace, then eased on a sigh. It was not his fault, and she'd no business snapping at him that way. Turning slightly, she began to speak quietly in a more subdued tone than seemed to fit her stern reputation.

"My apologies, Traven. I..."

Words died on her tongue as the door swung inward to reveal a small tow-headed boy in a page's attire. His freckled young face broke into a grin at the sight of the Captain, and he gave a crooked salute; he could only have been about six. Surprisingly, the soldier crouched down, returning his grin with a stern look that was undermined by the twinkle in her blue eyes.

"At ease, soldier. Have you been behaving yourself, Master Liam?"

The boy bit his lower lip and nodded slowly.

"Yes'm! Mistress Alviarin said I was a good boy yesterday and let me play with her cat. His name's Whiskers. Do you got a cat, Captain?"

The soldier's expression relented into a grin, and she swooped him up to settle him on her hip in a strangely natural gesture. Without further ado, she stepped inside, continuing her conversation with the boy and leaving her companions to follow behind.

"No lad, but next time you come visit me at the barracks, I'll let you feed the horses. How's that?"

The boy nodded enthusiastically, peering over her shoulder as his arms clung around her neck. He seemed enthralled by her companions, and whispered something in the soldier's ear that made her laugh. Gently, she set him back on his feet.

"We'll see, lad. Get on with you now. See that Liana Sedai knows I am here."

With another childish salute and boyish grin, he shot off on his errand. Tarma stood patiently in the entryway, waiting on his return. No doubt the woman herself would accompany him, and damned if she'd climb all those damned stairs before she damn well had to!

Realizing she was getting worked up again, the Captain turned to her fellows, motioning to the armchairs scattered around the great stone fireplace that dominated the hall.

"He'll fetch her in a moment. Make yourselves comfy."

Traven looked down at the young boy and thought that could have been him if his uncle didn't take him away first living in a godforsaken tower doing the menial tasks of some wizard but then realized that was what his childhood was. He sighed in relief now thanking the memory of that god-damned old mage and slowly griped the pendant thinking of his uncles tower. Traven held back a laugh at how nice she was to this boy as compared to how she acted previously And held his tongue and eyed the whelp warily as he whispered into the captain's ear. The sorcerer strolled into the tower slowly and looked around this tower was by a large margin nicer that his uncle's but was lacking in something he couldn't quit put his finger on. "You know I never pictured you as the maternal type." he said with a chuckle taking a seat close to the fire enjoying it's warm

The woman looked almost embarrassed for a moment, then shrugged, smoothing out her features. It would be better not to rise to the bait. Besides, she was hardly maternal; hell, she'd have made a terrible mother, with the life she lived. The thought tugged at her heart till she pushed it asside. No, children were not an option for a woman like her. She liked kids, that was all. And if she looked out for one who needed it, did it do any harm?

"He's a good kid, and he ought to see more than just the inside of a tower once in a while."

The half-elf relaxed in the chair seeing she wasn't such a hot-head after all. "Such is the isolated life of a apprentice mage, then again being trapped in that god forsaken tower is the reason I became a bard, you know to travel and see the world, but I'm sure the mages around here send him out on errands to fetch ingredients for potions and physical components for complex spells." he said speaking from experience. Traven held out a hand closing it and opening it sending out small blue sparks when his fingers where fully extended. "So, what did he say to you?" he said trying to spark a conversation to pass the time until Liana came down.

The warmth returned to her eyes when she smiled. It seemed the boy was a soft-spot with her. Giving a small chuckle, the soldier moved closer to the fire, removing her gloves that she might warm her hands.

"He wondered if the avariel would let him touch his wings. He also asked if the bard would stay and play at supper."

A glance towards the staircase caused her face to slacken blankly, then she frowned, muttering:

"Though I pray we'll not stay so long as that."

"The Gods send it is so, Captain, lest we find ourselves forced into civil conversation with one another."

The words, purred with amusement, echoed down to them as a woman of honeyed complexion and waves of raven hair spilling down her back came down the curving stone steps. Her features were striking in their beauty: slashing cheek bones, a full mouth, and long dark lashes framing eyes of a silver-blue hue. Lush curves were draped in flowing white robes with trailing gossamer sleeves, and she appeared more like an apparition from a misty dream than a woman of the flesh.

When the reached the bottom, she flowed towards them at a sedate pace, mouth curved smugly as she nodded to the soldier standing before her
.

"William informed me you'd arrived. He requested permission to see your horses, which I gave."

Shifting her attentions, she let her gaze settle on the bard, and she extended her hands for him to take as the warmth of her smile increased.

"Welcome, Traven. It is always good to have another mage among us."

Traven was awe struck by the apperiance of the woman and he was not quite sure weather he was dreaming or not. He jaw hung slack and he tryeed to talk but he could think of a whitty remark, but when her attention turnned to him he regained his composure. "Y-yes, it is." he nedded hastily and extened his hand and glently grasped hers then bowed down and kissed the back of the wizards hand then turned shraply to Tarma and whispered "why didn't you tell me she looked like that!"
