Mahika-san was the head geisha of a very respected Okiya. She was in the teahouse awaiting a common patron and wearing a rich purple kimono with a gold and red pattern of birds. It had been a gift from a grateful patron and Mahika-san was proud to show it off.

As the scanned the room her eyes fell upon a young maiko conversing with the owner.

Shaking her head slightly she made her way over to her fellow geisha who were also awaiting the expected patron and his party.

Carefully sliding the rice paper panel door to the side then shutting it, the young maiko Yumea stepped into the room. She slowly lifted her ruby eyes to see the other three girls in the room talking at the other end. She smiled as her eyes lit up to see an old friend. "Mahika-san!" she cried as she shuffle-ran her way over. Her white kimono with red dragons swished as she moved making the dragons seem to fly.

Kyoku smiled as Yumea fluttered over to the waiting group. She still seemed so young and yet she looked like a woman as she gracefully walked over.

"I wonder what could be taking the customer? This isnt my only zashiki tonite!" kyoku said laughing softly as the sounds of footsteps passed her.

"Sayuri-chan, come join us for awhile wont you? The maids are bringing tea." the geisha turned her delicate head and smiled as her grey eyes lit up at the young maiko.

"Brighten up little one, things will get better, i promise." Kyoku smiled at the girl as the maid set down a tray of tea for the geisha.

"Here you are.." she handed sayuri-chan a steaming up of tea and a linen napkin to protect her kimono.

"Do you have any engagements tonight?" she asked quietly as the other women chatted, sipping her tea.

Mahika walked over to Sayuri with a smile on her face.

"In my okiya there are many geisha in need of patrons. Do you have a place to sleep for the night?"

"We are currently staying with a neighboring Okiya, but mother has told me that I need to find another geisha to apprentice with. Otherwise, my training won't be proper," Sayuri explained. "We salvaged most of the kimono, so there is no need to worry about that. Plus, mother keeps excellent records of the money and our stock. We are paying rent to the okiya, though."

Sayuri sipped on her tea a little bit more, trying to think of the best way to put it. "I think we might be looking into staying with the geisha to whom an apprenticeship would be made. She would be paid rent, of course, and mother thinks it would be a better experience."

"These times are just so awful, lately. It's as if the deities are targeting geisha, though my former geisha was an awful person. I believe she spited the gods and she got what she deserved," Sayuri teased, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
