A GUILD DEVOTED TO THE GENIOUS DANNY ELFMAN
Why was this guild created?
Well, there were two big parts. One; the utter frustration of only knowing people that didn't appreciate the brilliance. I first discovered Oingo Boingo around the time I started paying more attention to scores of films, and I discovered exactly who Danny Elfman was. When I did discover Oingo Boingo, I wanted to discuss to hear more,
discuss what I'd heard with other fans, and introduce them to people who hadn't heard of them. I imediatly started telling friends about them. None of said friends were as into the band as I was. This was very frustrating. Have you ever been out of breath just from telling someone something, to have their reply be "That's nice?" I knew I'd be among other "Elfmaniacs" and "Boingoloids" if I was in a guild about them. I couldn't find such a guild, though. So, I knew I had to make one. That's when the saving up began. The second reason was the intense desire to discuss music with people who shared my tastes, and had my same mind set. The second part of that reason was not something I realized would come with the Guild. It did, though. And to my suprise, and utter delight, the guild was a success!
How is the community of the guild maintained?
We do our very best to keep the environment pleasant, personal, and productive. Yes, I suppose we could call them the three 'P's.
We keep it pleasant by avoiding any fights, and reminding people (whenever the tension does get high) that we are all entitled to our opinions, and thoughts. We have a relatively small community of active members
and since it is so small, and stays that small, we have no problem keeping things personal, and stopping it from becoming a corporate and robotic society. We are constantly trying to add new ideas, and bring up new topics of conversations. Contests also have been conceptualized many times. Unfortunately, the extent of our active population keeps those from really working too well. Nontheless, the guild's pleasantness, personalness, and productivity is maintained by our active staff.
