Welcome to the village of Fallen Leaves...

Many moons ago, Fallen Leaves was once a hustling, bustling village full of life and vigor. The residents lived their daily lives content in the knowledge that their Harvest Goddess was pleased with their hard work and prosperity...

Until one day the trucks started coming. Rolling through, one after the other, they steamed and revved through the village at top speeds, cutting the clean, crisp air with the scent of gas and exhaust. The residents were left to wonder, "Just what's going on?"

Soon, it became apparent that things were changing, and not only on the horizon. The once small, neighboring town was consumed with the hub-bub of roaring machinery and constant chaos. Before anyone knew it, bright lights glowed along the horizon each night, a city having burst from the earth in what seemed like mere moments.

Word spread far and wide - "Come to the big city; find fame and fortune!" - and suddenly the booming town of Fallen Leaves began to fade into the looming shadow of urban sprawl. Disheartened by the drastric change, many villagers moved away to seek refuge from the city's ever-widening expanse. Shops closed, unattended crops withered, and houses stood empty and abandoned. Visitors from elsewhere became mere passers-by; onlookers to the bleak outcome the town had faced. "Where has all the life gone?" many asked, and yet not an answer was to be heard.

As the splendor of the once gracious village began to fade, so too did the favor of the Harvest Goddess. Dismayed by the misfortune the residents faced, and their willingness to simply accept their plight, the Harvest Goddess bowed her head and, taking her loyal Harvest Sprites with her, faded in silence from her Spring within the Forest. The serene golden glow of her glorious presence vanished without a trace, and time for a moment stood still.

"The Harvest Goddess has left this place," whispered the few who remained.
