If you're sick of getting the same corporate sponsored tripe but not sure where to turn for other information THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! In The Alternative News Guild members are encouraged to challenge the mainstream views and interpretations. Find information on a law contrary to what's portrayed on CNN? Post it up with a source. Everyone is expected to think critically of information posted, but try to keep an open mind. Just know that information that appears on major news stations rarely doesn't have an underlying truth next to nothing is completely as it appears.

With all this said the guild is geared mainly towards an American audience since it is widely recognized around the world that America's media is the most corporate run, and it's populace among the most uninformed and misled. However, that does not mean we will not accept other countries information. News in one country inevitably directly affects another, and only by keeping up to date on as many fronts as possible can we consider ourselves informed citizens.

A few Ground Rules

1)Follow the TOS and GGN rules
2) Try to keep your posts literate, it promotes thought.
3) International members try to post in English and if you don't speak the language that well just write in your native tongue we'll have others to help with the translations. ^_^
4) No flaming. This sort of a melding of ideas, ideals, opinions, and thoughts will of course bring disagreements. So keep your conversation civil and just communicate your points. I know it's a foolish Utopian ideal, but I'd like everyone to do their best to keep open minds and take in opposing ideas.
5) If you absolutely CAN'T do rule 4 then end the conversation and move on.
6) Post in the appropriate section Science to Science Laws to Politics and so on.
7) If you have an Idea don't stifle it.
