The year is 2100. 100 years ago, scientists in New York City had been experimenting on humans for the Government to have a superhuman army. They succeeded, but after a while the experiments escaped, and hid among society. They started bloodlines, and now there are many Gifted out there, and the government is still trying to round them up and "put them to sleep" because they are too powerful to control. The agents are the ones that hunt the Gifted. Granted, not all Gifted are good, and some have turned to the side of the Agents. On the other side of the coin, not all agents are evil. Some only do what they do to get a steady income. There are, currently, three different active branches in the government: Manhattan, Providence, and Oxford.

Manhattan is the source of where the Gifted origninated. The branch is failing. There is a large amount of double agents on infiltration, and the supervisor doesn't seem to care. He tends to worry primarily about himself. There is still a struggle, but it is in favor of the Gifted.

Providence is a slightly smaller and just a bit successful with catching Gifted. They tend to prefer to killing Gifted than keeping them alive. The Gifted shouldn't be underestimated here either though. They have a base in the sewers known simply as the Haven. There is also a Gifted assassin that will kill anyone for the right sum. That includes agents and Gifted.

Oxford is a younger branch of the Government that followed the Gifted overseas. The employees there focus more on experiments than the other branches. They have a large amount of Gifted locked up. There are also rumors that the mysterious head of the Government lives there.

The story of the Gifted gets more and complex by the minute. But the most complex story of all is the secret behind the Government...
