[b:7bbc0f3823]Introduction:[/b:7bbc0f3823][/color:7bbc0f3823]
Have you ever fallen deep into a slump? Have you ever spent days and days doing everything but art?
The Slaving Artists Who Get Whipped Group (SAWGWG)[/color:7bbc0f3823] is a community for folks who love to draw but lack motivation. We challenge you to a simple wager: lay down a little gold on your ability to finish an image. Complete your work by the deadline, and you’ll see your money multiply.
[b:7bbc0f3823]The Rules:[/b:7bbc0f3823][/color:7bbc0f3823]
Prior to each week, we will declare an "assignment". The assignment will have very broad guidelines, like an university exercise: draw a picture using linear perspective, monotones, chiaroscuro, etc. Once you have been approved of your membership, if you are interested in participating that week, please send a deposit (see below) to the SAWGWG mule account (Aka. Sofia Domina). Once Sofia receives your deposit, she’ll send you a link and a password to the SAWGWG Photobucket account, where you can upload your art in the current week’s folder.
Finish your drawing by the deadline, and we’ll return your investment, plus a little bonus for a job well done (see below). Don’t finish? Your deposit forfeits to the mule account. The mule account will either distribute the accumulated cash in random acts of generosity to group members (lotteries), or use it to clothe herself in the most obnoxious wardrobe possible.
... It really is in your best interest to finish.
[b:7bbc0f3823]Deposits/Returns:[/b:7bbc0f3823][/color:7bbc0f3823]
Your investment will yield at this rate:
500 to 2500 = 20%. That’s 200 gold at 1000, 500 gold at 2500.
2500 to 5000 = 25%. That’s 1250 gold at 5000.
We aren’t prepared to accept deposits over 5000 at this point. We really don’t care to accept deposits under 500. It’s no fun without a little sense of danger, eh?
[b:7bbc0f3823]Why?:[/b:7bbc0f3823][/color:7bbc0f3823]
Why put your hard-earned gold at risk? Why gamble on a deadline? From time to time, it’s easy for any artist to feel directionless or in a rut. The goal of the SAWGWG is to give you something concrete to work towards on a reasonable schedule, even if it’s just a few hundred gold. Sometimes we all need a little kick in the butt.
[b:7bbc0f3823]Clauses:[/b:7bbc0f3823][/color:7bbc0f3823]
1) No half-assing it. [/color:7bbc0f3823]
We don’t care if you’re not a professional artist. We don’t imagine this exercise will result in museum quality work. However? We DO ask that you send us a finished piece by the deadline. Finished doesn’t necessarily mean colored; it DOES mean something more than sketchy linework. If you want to work in graphite, that means rendering three-dimensional objects through effective use of light and shadow. If you want to work in ink, let’s see some cross-hatching or flat blacks and whites.
If we think you’re trying to slide under our nose, we’ll submit your work to the group and let the members vote. Majority rules.
2) You’re only a member when you’ve successfully completed an assignment. [/color:7bbc0f3823]
We’re not here for the hangers-on and the slackers. [i:7bbc0f3823]This group is for folks who are serious about their art. We don’t care if you think we’re being exclusive or elitist. We’d like to keep the suck here to a minimum.[/i:7bbc0f3823] If you think you are not skilled enough to stay up par along with the rest of the group, it would be wise that you put extra effort into your work; Judging by merit.
3) We might put a cap on entries from time to time. [/color:7bbc0f3823]
In an ideal world, we’d like to see everyone finish their arts and go home a little richer. What we don’t want is a situation where you finish and don’t receive your reward; therefore, we may be forced to cap entries. We’re putting up the initial capital to pay out until we can establish a community pot. All forfeited deposits will be considered donations to the pot.
[i:7bbc0f3823]A solution has been implemented to prevent the pot from running out of resources. The SAWGWG Fundraising Lottery has been added and it will be part of the member's responsibility to keep that thread running at all times.[/i:7bbc0f3823]
4) We understand that unavoidable incidents happens. [/color:7bbc0f3823]
If your week gets wrecked by a family problem/accident/illness, please PM one of the founders. We'll be happy to work out an extended deadline.
[b:7bbc0f3823]deadlines, Contacts, and Such:[/b:7bbc0f3823] [/color:7bbc0f3823]
Please post the image of your finished work to the corresponding assignment thread by midnight, Pacific time (GMT -8.) of the last day of the challenge. We’ll be going by the time-stamps in her mailbox.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Reis & Sair through PM.
