For everyone who needs it... from the movie Babe:
If I had words to make a day for you
I'd sing you a morning golden and new
I would make this day last for all time
Give you a night deep in moonshine

Diana wrote this poem in the Guild, and I'm putting it here in her honor.
Cancer Is Not A Crab
I am spinning, and in spinning I am lost.
Unknown parts of who I am are gone,
gone and who am I to be now?
I stand twisted in a web of choices,
back-to-the-wall fighting a dark spider with
black eyes, with hooked claws and jaws.
I will pluck my choices as they come
one at a time, time, time that comes creeping,
smothering selection: can I sacrifice
and become a victim of experiments?
I spin through webs that will not tear, webs
I would rip, leap to the other side; what
lies there I do not know. I will choose
to be victim for I am already prey of those
eight legs that would cocoon me in a shroud.
The warriors clad in white armor will fight
by my side the bloated demon consuming me.
Will this war kill that obscenity, or both of us?
This guild is for people who have cancer of any kind, particularly breast cancer, had cancer or have a relative or friend who has or had cancer. Medical students, doctors and nurses are also welcome, as are any Gaians with an interest in the subject.
PLEASE PM pd2care if you put in a join request. Thanks!
It is intended for serious discussion of preventative measures, symptoms, genetic propensity for the disease,
treatments, pain relief, types of cancer, particularly but not exclusively breast cancer, and other subjects related to cancer/breast cancer. Members are encouraged to use their profile journals as a diary for their experiences with the disease, or may start their own journal thread in this guild.
We do have a humor forum too, as long as it isn't morbid humor. Cartoons, funny stories, jokes and such will be great for us to relieve the stress.
It is recommended that all interested in Breast Cancer read or have available for reading the book Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, 4th edition. Earlier editions will not be up to date with the most recent findings. Other book recommendations are encouraged.
Join requests should be specific about your experience with this disease. Detail is not necessary, just a simple sentence telling how this guild suits you, using the info in the first paragraph above. I.e., "I have BC (or xx cancer)", "my sister/friend has BC (or xx cancer)", or just "I am interested in this subject".
DO NOT donate to the Guild. It can only be used for new sub-forums, and we have enough for more right now. If more than that are needed, we may make an announcement that donations will be accepted at that time.
