The shade is a lucky refuge from the heat of midday and you welcome a chance to put up your feet. “Look,” he says, cradling something in his hands. You do. It is a small box with inlaid blue, green, brown, and white mosaics. You run your finger over its cool, smooth surface.
“What is in it?” you ask.
“The world.”
